  • creating a Menu from SQLite values in Java

    - by shanahobo86
I am trying to create a ListMenu using data from an SQLite database to define the name of each MenuItem. So in a class called menu.java I have defined the array String classes [] = {}; which should hold each menu item name. In a DBAdapter class I created a function so the user can insert info to a table (This all works fine btw). public long insertContact(String name, String code, String location, String comments, int days, int start, int end, String type) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_NAME, name); initialValues.put(KEY_CODE, code); initialValues.put(KEY_LOCATION, location); initialValues.put(KEY_COMMENTS, comments); initialValues.put(KEY_DAYS, days); initialValues.put(KEY_START, start); initialValues.put(KEY_END, end); initialValues.put(KEY_TYPE, type); return db.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); } It would be the Strings inserted into KEY_NAME that I need to populate that String array with. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks so much for the help guys. If I implement that function by Sam/Mango the program crashes, am I using it incorrectly or is the error due to the unknown size of the array? DBAdapter db = new DBAdapter(this); String classes [] = db.getClasses(); edit: I should mention that if I manually define the array: String classes [] = {"test1", "test2", "test3", etc}; It works fine. The error is a NullPointerException Here's the logcat (sorry about the formatting). I hadn't initialized with db = helper.getReadableDatabase(); in the getClasses() function but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. 11-11 22:53:39.117: D/dalvikvm(17856): Late-enabling CheckJNI • Using Flex to keep local SQLite database in sync with live server database

    - by DaveC
I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website. Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this? Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

  • How to transfer SQLite db to web server on android phone

    - by Shane
Hi, I have an application that creates an SQLite database and saves information to it over the course of a day. At the end of the day i want to export this database to a web server. Could anyone point me in the right direction for this? Should I use httppost or put. I have researched this myself online but there seems to be so many different ways to explore. The server side does not exist yet either. I have access to an apache server so i am hoping to use that. Could anyone advise me the best/most simple way to do this? Thanks

  • Android and SQLite using the SQLiteOpenHelper

    - by tunneling
I have a SQLite database, and several tables within that database. I am developing a DBAdapter for each table within the database. (reference Reto Meier's Professional Android 2 Application Development, Listing 7.1). I am using the adb shell to interface with the database from the command line and see that the database is being populated as I expect. Occasionally, I want to drop a table so that I can ensure it's being built properly, from scratch. The problem is that SQLiteOpenHelper only checks to see if the database exists. Is there a typical solution to writing a helper to also see that the table(s) exists? Basically once I drop a table, the helper checks to see that the database exists and assumes all is well. Also, the CREATE_DATABASE string used in the reference above only creates the one table. Should I consider using the DBAdapter for an adapter to ALL of my tables? That doesn't seem as clean to me. • Inserting nil Values into Sqlite Database?

    - by Chris
    I am working on an iPhone App where I am pulling data from an XML file and inserting it into a sqlite database located in the App. I am able to successfully do this process, but it appears that if I try to sqlite3_bind_text with a NSString that has a value of "nil", the App quickly dies. This is an example of code that fails: (modified for this example) // idvar = 1 // valuevar = nil const char *sqlStatement = "insert into mytable (id, value) VALUES(?, ?)"; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement = nil; sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL); sqlite3_bind_int(compiledStatement, 1, [idvar intValue]);; sqlite3_bind_text(compiledStatement, 2, [valuevar UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT);

  • Inserting multiple types into an SQLite database with Python

    - by mankoff
I'm trying to create an SQLite 3 database from Python. I have a few types I'd like to insert into each record: A float, and then 3 groups of n floats, currently a tuple but could be an array or list.. I'm not well-enough versed in Python to understand all the differences. My problem is the INSERT statement. DAS = 12345 lats = (42,43,44,45) lons = (10,11,12,13) times = (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) import sqlite3 connection = sqlite3.connect("test.db") cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute( "create table foo(DAS LONG PRIMARY KEY,lats real(4),lons real(4), times real(9) )" ) I'm not sure what comes next. Something along the lines of: cmd = 'INSERT into foo values (?,?,?,?), ..." cursor.execute(cmd) How should I best build the SQL insert command given this data?

  • Prevent sqlite INJECTION ATTACKS on your own iPhone?

    - by Bonnie
I always take precautions regarding SQL INJECTION ATTACKS when data is saved between someone's iPhone and a remote database on the cloud. But is it also necessary to do the same... when just saving data (using sqlite) from someone's cell phone, to a database that's just on their own phone? What's the worse they can do? Delete their own data (or tables) on their own phone? (If they really try hard enough.) Thanks.

  • Dealing w/ Sqlite Join results in a cursor

    - by Bill
I have a one-many relationship in my local Sqlite db. Pretty basic stuff. When I do my left outer join I get back results that look like this: the resulting cursor has multiple rows that look like this: A1.id | A1.column1 | A1.column2 | B1.a_id_fk | B1.column1 | B1.column2 A1.id | A1.column1 | A1.column2 | B2.a_id_fk | B2.column1 | B2.column2 and so on... Is there a standard practice or method of dealing with results like this ? Clearly there is only A1, but it has many B-n relationships. I am coming close to using multiple queries instead of the "relational db way". Hopefully I am just not aware of the better way to do things. I intend to expose this query via a content provider and I would hate for all of the consumers to have to write the same aggregation logic.

  • SQLite doesn't have booleans or date-times...but C# does

    - by DanM
I've been thinking about using SQLite for my next project, but I'm concerned that it seems to lack proper datetime and bit data types. If I use DbLinq (or some other ORM) to generate C# classes, will the data types of the properties be "dumbed down"? Will date-time data be placed in properties of type string or double? Will boolean data be placed in properties of type int? If yes, what are the implications? I'm envisioning a scenario where I need to write a whole second layer of classes with more specific data types and do a bunch of transformations and casts, but maybe it's not so bad. If you have any experience with this or a similar scenario, what are your "lessons learned"?

  • Using a ICollection Value in sqlite SELECT parameterized statment

    - by case23
Im trying to get all the entrys from a sqlite Database which have the same name as the keys in a Hashtable. My Statement looks like this. // the keys from the hashtable are names equivalent // to name entrys in the SomeTable Names Collumn Hashtable names; String query = "SELECT Id, Name FROM SomeTable WHERE Name LIKE (@Names)"; SQLiteCommand command = new SQLiteCommand(query, _databaseConnection); command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Names", names.Keys); SQLiteDataReader reader = reader.ExecuteReader(); while(reader.Read()) { Console.WriteLine("Name: {0}, ID: {1}", reader[1].ToString(), reader[0].ToString()); } Im totally sure there are similar values in the Database, but i get nothing back and the reader does not execute. Is it impossible to add a ICollection as a Parameter Value so i need to start the reader only one time?

  • Database file is inexplicably locked during SQLite commit

    - by sweeney
Hello, I'm performing a large number of INSERTS to a SQLite database. I'm using just one thread. I batch the writes to improve performance and have a bit of security in case of a crash. Basically I cache up a bunch of data in memory and then when I deem appropriate, I loop over all of that data and perform the INSERTS. The code for this is shown below: public void Commit() { using (SQLiteConnection conn = new SQLiteConnection(this.connString)) { conn.Open(); using (SQLiteTransaction trans = conn.BeginTransaction()) { using (SQLiteCommand command = conn.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = "INSERT OR IGNORE INTO [MY_TABLE] (col1, col2) VALUES (?,?)"; command.Parameters.Add(this.col1Param); command.Parameters.Add(this.col2Param); foreach (Data o in this.dataTemp) { this.col1Param.Value = o.Col1Prop; this. col2Param.Value = o.Col2Prop; command.ExecuteNonQuery(); } } this.TryHandleCommit(trans); } conn.Close(); } } I now employ the following gimmick to get the thing to eventually work: private void TryHandleCommit(SQLiteTransaction trans) { try { trans.Commit(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Trying again..."); this.TryHandleCommit(trans); } } I create my DB like so: public DataBase(String path) { //build connection string SQLiteConnectionStringBuilder connString = new SQLiteConnectionStringBuilder(); connString.DataSource = path; connString.Version = 3; connString.DefaultTimeout = 5; connString.JournalMode = SQLiteJournalModeEnum.Persist; connString.UseUTF16Encoding = true; using (connection = new SQLiteConnection(connString.ToString())) { //check for existence of db FileInfo f = new FileInfo(path); if (!f.Exists) //build new blank db { SQLiteConnection.CreateFile(path); connection.Open(); using (SQLiteTransaction trans = connection.BeginTransaction()) { using (SQLiteCommand command = connection.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = DataBase.CREATE_MATCHES; command.ExecuteNonQuery(); command.CommandText = DataBase.CREATE_STRING_DATA; command.ExecuteNonQuery(); //TODO add logging } trans.Commit(); } connection.Close(); } } } I then export the connection string and use it to obtain new connections in different parts of the program. At seemingly random intervals, though at far too great a rate to ignore or otherwise workaround this problem, I get unhandled SQLiteException: Database file is locked. This occurs when I attempt to commit the transaction. No errors seem to occur prior to then. This does not always happen. Sometimes the whole thing runs without a hitch. No reads are being performed on these files before the commits finish. I have the very latest SQLite binary. I'm compiling for .NET 2.0. I'm using VS 2008. The db is a local file. All of this activity is encapsulated within one thread / process. Virus protection is off (though I think that was only relevant if you were connecting over a network?). As per Scotsman's post I have implemented the following changes: Journal Mode set to Persist DB files stored in C:\Docs + Settings\ApplicationData via System.Windows.Forms.Application.AppData windows call No inner exception Witnessed on two distinct machines (albeit very similar hardware and software) Have been running Process Monitor - no extraneous processes are attaching themselves to the DB files - the problem is definitely in my code... Does anyone have any idea whats going on here? I know I just dropped a whole mess of code, but I've been trying to figure this out for way too long. My thanks to anyone who makes it to the end of this question! brian UPDATES: Thanks for the suggestions so far! I've implemented many of the suggested changes. I feel that we are getting closer to the answer...however... The code above technically works however it is non-deterministic! It is not guaranteed to do anything aside from spin in neutral forever. In practice it seems to work somewhere between the 1st and 10th iteration. If i batch my commits at a reasonable interval damage will be mitigated but I really do not want to leave things in this state... More suggestions welcome!

  • Inserting rows while fetching(from another table) in SQLite

    - by Samuel
I'm getting this error no matter what with python and sqlite. File "addbooks.py", line 77, in saveBook conn.commit() sqlite3.OperationalError: cannot commit transaction - SQL statements in progress The code looks like this: conn = sqlite3.connect(fname) cread = conn.cursor() cread.execute('''select book_text from table''') while True: row = cread.fetchone() if row is None: break .... for entry in getEntries(doc): saveBook(entry, conn) Can't do a fetchall() because table and column size are big, and the memory is scarce. What can be done without resorting to dirty tricks(as getting the rowids in memory, which would probably fit, and then selecting the rows one by one)?.

  • Sqlite and Python -- return a dictionary using fetchone()?

    - by AndrewO
I'm using sqlite3 in python 2.5. I've created a table that looks like this: create table votes ( bill text, senator_id text, vote text) I'm accessing it with something like this: v_cur.execute("select * from votes") row = v_cur.fetchone() bill = row[0] senator_id = row[1] vote = row[2] What I'd like to be able to do is have fetchone (or some other method) return a dictionary, rather than a list, so that I can refer to the field by name rather than position. For example: bill = row['bill'] senator_id = row['senator_id'] vote = row['vote'] I know you can do this with MySQL, but does anyone know how to do it with SQLite? Thanks!!!

  • Implement subitem in SQLite

    - by Mohit Deshpande
How could I implement a sub item where the item would have a parent to that of the same item. For example, I have a database that holds tasks/todos. Each todo has a title(TEXT), completed(INTEGER [1 if true, 0 if false]), and due date(TEXT) column. I would like to add functionality to have subtasks, where a task could possibly have a parent task. How would I implement this in SQLite for Android? NOT IN SQL! So no foreign keys (triggers are allow, though)! Could I just have a separate table (subtask) and have a foreign key trigger to link subtask(INTEGER parent) to task(INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT _id)? Or should I add a column to my original task table(INTEGER parent)? How could I implement this?

  • Why does SQLite not bring back any results from my database

    - by tigermain
    This is my first SQLite based iPhone app and I am trying to get it to read a menu hierarchy from my database. The database appears to be registered fine as the compiled statement doesnt error (tried putting in valid table name to test) but for some reason sqlite3_step(compiledStmt) doesnt ever equal SQLITE_ROW as if to suggest there is no data in there; which there is. sqlite3 *database; menu = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; if (sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { const char *sqlStmt = "SELECT * FROM Menu"; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStmt; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStmt, -1, &compiledStmt, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(compiledStmt) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSString *aTitle = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStmt, 1)]; MenuItem *menuItem = [[MenuItem alloc] init]; menuItem.title = aTitle; [menu addObject:menuItem]; [menuItem release]; } } else { NSLog(@"There is an error with the SQL Statement"); } sqlite3_finalize(compiledStmt); } sqlite3_close(database);

  • Can't get values from Sqlite DB using query

    - by Sana Joseph
I used sqlite to populate a DB with some Tables in it. I made a function at another javascript page that executes the database & selects some values from the table. Javascript: function GetSubjectsFromDB() { tx.executeSql('SELECT * FROM Subjects', [], queryNSuccess, errorCB); } function queryNSuccess(tx, results) { alert("Query Success"); console.log("Returned rows = " + results.rows.length); if (!results.rowsAffected) { console.log('No rows affected!'); return false; } console.log("Last inserted row ID = " + results.insertId); } function errorCB(err) { alert("Error processing SQL: "+err.code); } Is there some problem with this line ? tx.executeSql('SELECT * FROM Subjects', [], queryNSuccess, errorCB); The queryNSuccess isn't called, neither is the errorCB so I don't know what's wrong.

  • sqlite - Foreign keys in VS2008 Designer

    - by rene marxis
Hello I'm starting over to use strong typed datasets in VS 2008 with sqlite and running into a problem. I have some tables that have foreign keys allready defined in the database. I can see those in the Server-Explorer. Now i create a new strong typed Dataset with the designer and add only one table from that realtion to the dataset. Then i like to add the second one and i get an error message "Unexpected error ... Source: Microsoft.VSDesigner; ErrorCode:-1" No Additional Info. The error does not occure if i add both tables at the same time (say i drag them from the serverexplorer). Is there any way to add subsequent tables to an dataset that are in relation(s) to alreay added once? Many thanks _rene

  • Walking through an SQLite Table

    - by galford13x
    I would like to implement or use functionality that allows stepping through a Table in SQLite. If I have a Table Products that has 100k rows, I would like to retrive perhaps 10k rows at a time. Somthing similar to how a webpage would list data and have a < Previous .. Next > link to walk through the data. Are there select statements that can make this simple? I see and have tried using the ROWID in conjunction with LIMIT which seems ok if not ordering the data. // This seems works if not ordering. SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ROWID BETWEEN x AND y;

  • [VB.Net] TreeView update bug in the .net framework

    - by CFP
Consider the following code: Dim Working As Boolean = False Private Sub TreeView1_AfterCheck(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.TreeViewEventArgs) Handles TreeView1.AfterCheck If Working Then Exit Sub Working = True e.Node.Checked = Not e.Node.Checked Working = False End Sub Private Sub TreeView1_MouseClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles TreeView1.MouseClick If e.Button = Windows.Forms.MouseButtons.Right Then MsgBox("Checked = " & TreeView1.SelectedNode.Checked) End Sub Where TreeView1 is a TreeView added to the form, with CheckBoxes set to true and one node added. The code basically cancel any node checking occuring on the form. Single-clicking the top node to check it works well : your click is immediately canceled. Yet if you double-click the checkbox, it will display a tick. But verifying the check state through a right click will yield a Checked = False dialog. How come? Is it a bug (I'm using the latest .Net Framework 4.0, and he same occurs in 2.0), or am I doing something wrong here? Is there a work around? Thanks! EDIT: Additionally, the MouseDoubleClick event is not raised before you click once again.

  • Sqlite + Java: table not updating

    - by Ben L
I'm using a Java wrapper for SQLite called SQLiteJDBC - this may have some bearing on any answers... I have a table which I've displayed in a GUI, within that UI I have a button for the fields for an individual row of that table. When I save my changes I do this... Statement stmt = connection.createStatement(); stmt.execute("update 'tableName' set 'fieldName'=1 where userid=1"); int updateCount = stmt.getUpdateCount(); My connection is valid, I get no exceptions thrown and getUpdateCount() returns '1' indicating that one row has been updated. However my table is not updated. I've spent the last few hours trying to work out what's going on but I'm not having any luck. Help!!

  • sqlite & python - only pulls the first result

    - by pencilNero
This is pretty strange (admitedly, this is my first attempt with python / sqlite), but I can seem to get all of the rows if I do a fetchAll(), but other than that - no matter what I try, always ends up in the db only returning the first row - the second iteration stops because a null is returned. Wondering if there is something wrong with how I am coding this up in python? The db seems ok.. con = sqlite3.connect('backup.db') con.row_factory = sqlite3.Row cur = con.cursor() cur.execute('select * from tb1;') for row in cur: try: # row = dataCur.fetchone() #if row == None: break print type(row) print ' Starting on: %i' % row[0] cleaner = Cleaner(scripts=True, remove_tags=['img'], embedded=True) try: cleaned = cleaner.clean_html(row[2]) #data stored in second col cur.execute('update tb1 set data = ? where id = ?;', (cleaned, row[0])) except AttributeError: print 'Attribute error' print ' Ended on: %i' % row[0] except IOError: print 'IOexception'

  • Problems inserting file data into sqlite database using python

    - by tylerc230
I'm trying to open an image file in python and add that data to an sqlite table. I created the table using: "CREATE TABLE "images" ("id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL , "description" VARCHAR, "image" BLOB );" I am trying to add the image to the db using: imageFile = open(imageName, 'rb') b = sqlite3.Binary(imageFile.read()) targetCursor.execute("INSERT INTO images (image) values(?)", (b,)) targetCursor.execute("SELECT id from images") for id in targetCursor: imageid= id[0] targetCursor.execute("INSERT INTO %s (questionID,imageID) values(?,?)" % table, (questionId, imageid)) When I print the value of 'b' it looks like binary data but when I call: 'select image from images where id = 1' I get '????' printed to the console. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

  • C# IF statement against SQLite query result

I have a C# application that I am attempting to check my sqlite db if a filename already exists in the FileName column, if it DOESN'T exist, execute some code.. Here is what I am working with. string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(@"C:\Documents and Settings\js91162\Desktop ", "R303717*.txt*", SearchOption.AllDirectories); foreach (string file in files) { string FileNameExt1 = Path.GetFileName(file); insertCommand.CommandText = @" SELECT * FROM Import WHERE FileName == FileNameExt1;"; } string contYes = insertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(contYes)) { //more code } EDIT: added space in path so that slash doesn't eat quotation mark
