• Domain authentication used for kerberos based authentication of users on my server

  Suppose a user process has authenticated itself against domain's directory server via kerberos, and then attempts opens a network socket to my server application. My server application has a white-list of users from the domain directory server. How does my server app authenticate the user from the directory based on this socket opening attempt? (To keep things simple - let's say my server is written in Java, and the directory server is Active Directory) EDIT My question is about how the client asks for an authentication token.

The message has not been deleted and may be accessible using either Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access. You can also try contacting the original sender of the message to find out about the contents of the message. Retrieval of this message will be retried when the server is updated with a fix that addresses the problem." Messages were transferred in to Exchange by copying them from the old Apple Xserve, accessed using IMAP. So my question, finally: 1. Is there any way to get the IMAP Exchange connector to rebuild its cache of messages since it doesn't seem to be pulling them directly from the MAPI store? 2. Alternatively, if there is no database, any ideas on why these messages don't appear in Outlook or OWA would be gratefully received. Many thanks, Mike

  Should a three node Cassandra cluster with a replication factor of 3 have the same load value for all three nodes? We are using a random partitioner and NetworkTopologyStrategy. Nodetool ring shows equal values for "Owns" but unequal values for "Load". • ADFS 2.0 Server Prompts For Credentials When Using FQDN

  We have an ADFS test enviroment set up, but we are running into issues with login prompts. If we browse to ADFS from Domain A we get a token sucessfully from ADFS, however when we browse from Domain B we are getting prompted for credentials. Domain A trusts Domain B but Domain B does not trust Domain A. The weird thing is, if we replace the full domain name with the server's IP address we can sucessfully get through from both domains. I feel like this should be a really simple solution, but we're stumped.

  I have a shared system, running Windows7 X64, restricted to a 'standard user' with no password. Not everyone who has access to the system has the administrator password. This works rather well, except for some applications - specially the unlock-applications for encrypted hard drives/USB flash drives. The specific ones either require Administrator access (eg. Seagate Blackarmor) or simply fail without it -- since these programs are sending raw commands to a device, this is to be expected. I would like to be able to add the hashes of these particular programs to a whitelist, and have them run as administrator without needing any prompts. Since these are by definition on removable media, I can't simply use a filename or even a path. One of the users who shares the system can be considered 'crafty', so anything which temporarily grants administrator rights to an user account is certain to cause problems. What i'd like to be able to do: 1) Create an admin account that can only run programs from a whitelist (or, failing that, from a directory) I can't find a good way to do this: As far as I can tell, SRP applies equally to ALL users? Even if I put a "Deny" token on all directories on the system, such that new directories would inherit it, it could still potentially run things from the mounted USB devices. I also don't know whether it's possible to create a new directory that DOESN'T inherit from the parent, that would lake the deny token, and provide admin access. 2) Find a lightweight service that will run these programs in its local context Windows7 seems to block cross-privilege level communication by default, and I haven't found such for windows 7. One example seems to be "sudo" (http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~nfriess/sudo/) but because it uses a WLNOTIFY hook, it won't work under Vista nor Windows7 Non-Solutions: - RunAs: Requires administrator password! (but everyone calls it "sudo" anyway) - RunAs /savecred: Nice idea, but appears to be completely insecure. - RUNASSPC - Same concept as RunAs, uses "encrypted" files with credentials, but checks in user-space. - Scheduled Tasks - "Fixed" permissions make this difficult, and doesn't support interactive processes even if it did. - SuRun: From Google: "Surun uses its own Windows service that adds the user to the group of administrators during program start and removes him automatically from that group again"

  I'm trying to add a user (as root) on CentOS 5.5 and I've got this message : useradd: unable to lock password file After reading some post linked to this issue I've deleted two files in /etc : .pwd.lock passwd- However it still doesn't work. Finally, I read a thread where the guy said that using the passwd command to update the passwd file and normally fix this issue. I'm trying to run the command alias localip='ip -4 -o addr show eth0 | egrep -o '([[:digit:]]{1,3}\.){3}[[:digit:]]{1,3}' | head -n 1' If I run the command ip -4 -o addr show eth0 | egrep -o '([[:digit:]]{1,3}\.){3}[[:digit:]]{1,3}' | head -n 1 I get the result I expect, however, when trying to create an alias with the command, I get -bash: syntax error near unexpected token `(' Any help would be appreciated. • Integrating WIF with WCF Data Services

  A time ago I discussed how a custom REST Starter kit interceptor could be used to parse a SAML token in the Http Authorization header and wrap that into a ClaimsPrincipal that the WCF services could use. The thing is that code was initially created for Geneva framework, so it got deprecated quickly.   Can I do filename pattern matching in a bash script? "test" is a directory with the following files ... bob@bob-laptop:~/test$ ls exclude exclude1 exclude2 include1 include2 from the command line, if I want to exclude some of the files, I can do ... bob@bob-laptop:~/test$ echo !(exclude*) include1 include2 but, if I put that command in a script (named exclude) ... bob@bob-laptop:~/test$ cat exclude echo !(exclude*) when I execute it, I get an error ... bob@bob-laptop:~/test$ ./exclude ./exclude: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token (' ./exclude: line 1:echo !(exclude*)' I've tried every (I think) variation of escaping some, all or none of the special characters and I still get an error. What am I missing here? If I can't do this, would someone please be so kind as to explain why?

• How to send credentials to linkedIn website and get oauth_verifier without signing in again [closed]

  I am facing a problem sending credentials to another website so that I can login the user (automatically, not clicked on sign in here) and get an oauth_verifier value. I want to send the email address and the password through a form (submit button) from my website (e.g. a Liferay portal) to another website (e.g. LinkedIn), so that it automatically returns an oauth_verifier to my website. That means I don't want the user of my website to submit his email and password to LinkedIn again. My goal is to take the email and password of the user in my website and show the user his LinkedIn connection, message, job posting (again, in my website, not LinkedIn). I dont want the user redirected to the LinkedIn website to sign in there and then come back to my website. I have taken a consumer key and a secret key from LinkedIn for my web aplication. I am using the LinkedIn API and getting oauth_verifier for access token but in order to login, I have to take user to LinkedIn to sign in, while I want it to happen in the backend.

• Code Review process

  I'm looking for a light-weight code review process. A couple of requirements, the reviewer must be able to do the review alone at the time of his/her choosing (not tied to check-ins), the reviewer must be able to easily find the target code, the review has to leave some document showing what was reviewed. I know there are tools available for code review but I work in a very ridig environment and introducing new tools is not an option. One idea I've been thinking about is to create a new Visual Studio Task List token called REVIEW, and use it to mark the code that needs reviewing. Something like, // REVIEW doe_john: New method, not sure about the exception. Then we would add a Review workitem in TFS (we're using the CMM template). Another possibility, which I would actually prefer, would be to have developers create a TFS Review workitem and add links to code to it, but I don't know if this is possible. Obviously you can add a link to a file, but I'd like to have a link to a particular method.

  On my laptop, I forgot the password to my Ubuntu partition, so I logged into the root command shell on the recovery start up option in GRUB so that I could change the password. On my first attempt to change my user password, I got this error: root@username-PC:~# passwd username (*not my actual user name*) Enter new UNIX password: Retype new UNIX password: passwd: Authentication token manipulation error passwd: password unchanged After doing some research, I discovered that I was stuck as read only on the file system, so I ran the following command to remount the file partition as read/write: mount -rw -o remount / Afterwards, I change my user password using passwd and it was changed successfully. I restarted my laptop and tried to login using the new password but the only thing that happened was after entering my password it flashed to a black screen with some text that I couldn't make out except for "Ubuntu 12.04" then another black screen half a second later, and finally back to the login screen. Repeated attempts to login results in only this action.
