  • Making a Grid in an NSView

    I currently have an NSView that draws a grid pattern (essentially a guide of horizontal and vertical lines) with the idea being that a user can change the spacing of the grid and the color of the grid. The purpose of the grid is to act as a guideline for the user when lining up objects. Everything works just fine with one exception. When I resize the NSWindow by dragging the resize handle, if my grid spacing is particularly small (say 10 pixels). the drag resize becomes lethargic in nature. I can see where the inefficiency is coming in, drag-resizing the NSWindow is constantly calling the drawRect in this view as it resizes, and the closer the grid, the more calculations per pixel drag of the parent window. I was thinking of hiding the view on the resize of the window, but it doesn't feel as dynamic. I want the user experience to be very smooth without any perceived delay or flickering. Does anyone have any ideas on a better or more efficient method to drawing the grid? All help, as always, very much appreciated.

  • How to make a table, which is wider than screen size, scrollable and keep header row fixed?

    I've a table with 2 columns and each column is 800px wide. I want to show this table in 800x50 window. So there should be horizontal and vertical scrollbar to view complete table. While I've found few related solutions (this and this) on SO, they only work if table width is smaller than screen size. In my case screen size is 1200px and total table width is 1600px. How could I do this? i want to achieve something like this. EDIT Oops, I forgot to add one more requirement. Sorry. I want the header of the table to remain fixed while user scrolls table. EDIT2 I've tried below mentioned solutions to wrap in a div, but in this case vertical scrollbar doesn't show up. Please see this table with wrapper div. It seems this problem only occurs if table width is bigger than screen size. I'm testing on FF3.6.   • White space on top of flash movie within table cell

    I have a flash movie, height = 151px width = 228, this is placed within a table cell ( cellpadding = 0 cellspacing = 0 vertical-align = top), but when it displays within the explorer windows there is a white space about 20px above the flash movie. I want the flash movie to appear directly under the grey lines. Here is a screen shot of the current issue:

  • Installer Dialog comes up with Scroll bars on 800x480 resolution

    I am building an msi using WISE. The Dialogs appear fine when run on a 1280x800 resolution screen. But when I run the same msi on a 800x480 resolution screen, the installer dialog appears really huge and you cannot see the whole dialog on the screen.However, the dialog now comes up with a vertical and horizontal scrollbar allowing you to scroll and view it fully. Is there any property I need to set to adjust the installer dialog such that it appears properly on both higher and lower resolution screens?

    I would like to have two overlapping SlidingDrawers (spanning the whole application window) with their handles side by side so that the user can open both drawers easily. However, it seems that the handle is always positioned horizontally centered (for a vertical SlidingDrawer) so that the handles collide. I tried both FrameLayout and RelativeLayout for the parent, but layout options like android:layout_alignRight seem to be ignored for the handles.

I found DrawText and TextOut functions, but the text they show is flickering and don't know how to set the font and text orientation (I will need vertical text orientation as well as horizontal).
