• MS Access 2003 - Help understanding the structure of mdb, mde and be.....

  Hi. I was just wanting some explanation as to what is going on once you have split your tables out into a back end file, and set an mde out for use. When a user accesses the mde, is the mdb still required to get to the tabes (or in order to make it work)? Let say I put these access apps on a shared drive for folks to use. If I split the be end on to the shared drive, and placed the mde on the shared drive, would I the mdb have to exist for that version mde to work (communicate with the tables)? Or does the mde sort of speak to the mdb which speaks to the tables? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks

• Parsing HTML with Python 2.7 - HTMLParser, SGMLParser, or Beautiful Soup?

  I want to do some screen-scraping with Python 2.7, and I have no context for the differences between HTMLParser, SGMLParser, or Beautiful Soup. Are these all trying to solve the same problem, or do they exist for different reasons? Which is simplest, which is most robust, and which (if any) is the default choice? Also, please let me know if I have overlooked a significant option. Edit: I should mention that I'm not particularly experienced in HTML parsing, and I'm particularly interested in which will get me moving the quickest, with the goal of parsing HTML on one particular site.

• Using SCons as a build engine for distutils

  I have a python package with some C code needed to build an extension (with some non-trivial building needs). I have used SCons as my build system because it's really good and flexible. I'm looking for a way to compile my python extensions with SCons ready to be distributed with distutils. I want that the user simply types setup.py install and get the extension compiled with SCons instead of the default distutils build engine. An idea that comes to mind is to redefine build_ext command in distutils, but I can't find extensive documentation for it. Any suggestion?

  i just introduced a bug into my code because i seem to have misunderstood the jsp tag lifecycle. The tag worked like this before the bug: i pass the tag some collection as an attribute, and it displays it as a table. The collection was passed into the JSP from the controller. after the bug: a removed the attribute which set the collection. instead, in the tag i check if the collection is null, and then grab it by name from the request (using a naming convention). the thing that i didnt expect: after the collection was initially set in the tag, it would never become null on subsequent executions! it was still defined as an non-requred attribute in the TLD. I expected the tag to not hold on to previous values between executions.

  Hi All, I am new to Jboss and deployment of web applications etc. I have two different war files deployed on the same Jboss server. Further they also share some classes which read different properties based on the application settings (Let's call a common class as CommonClass.class which is present in App1.war and App2.war; CommonClass has a member "FIELD1", so both these war files have CommonClass.class each of which reads different properties, into CommonClass.FIELD1). But during run-time when I access FIELD1 in one application (App2.war-CommonClass.FIELD1) it has the value from another application (App1.war-CommonClass.FIELD1). Is there any way I can explicitly specify so that JBoss treats these classes and fields to be different? so that both these classes can exist in memory yet hold their respective correct values?   I want to get the hardware address of my mac's ethernet card. In all samples I saw in include on IOKit/assert.h . Which doesn't seem to exist on my system. GCC throws an error saying he doesn't know the type IOEthernetAddress. Is assert.h necessary for my task? It would be great if someone coud give me a working sample. Is it good/bad practice or even a non-issue when it comes to matching the existing style vs using your own preference? Does the situation change if you are adding new code to a Class vs modifying existing code?   Hi, You know, once you add a web reference to a webservice a wrapper code is generated by Visuel Studio. I was wondering if there is a method (or property) which is generated by Visual Studio whatever web service you add to your project so that I can put a breakpoint there and once the debugger stops there, I can simply read the response from web-service in an xml format (or should I say, soap). Therefore I can not reuse returned object and link it to another object obtained from datacontext thru non compiled queries.   I have a many-to-many relationship between two tables, let's say Friends and Foods. If a friend likes a food I stick a row into the FriendsFoods table, like this: ID Friend Food 1 'Tom' 'Pizza' FriendsFoods has a Primary Key 'ID', and two non-null foreign keys 'Friend' and 'Food' to the 'Friends' and 'Foods' tables, respectively. Now suppose I have a Friend tom .NET object corresponding to 'Tom', and Tom no longer likes pizza (what is wrong with him?) FriendsFoods ff = tom.FriendsFoods.Where(x => x.Food.Name == 'Pizza').Single(); tom.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); pizza.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); If I try to SubmitChanges() on the DataContext, I get an exception because it attempts to insert a null into the Friend and Food columns in the FriendsFoods table. I'm sure I can put together some kind of convoluted logic to track changes to the FriendsFoods table, intercept SubmitChanges() calls, etc to try and get this to work the way I want, but is there a nice, clean way to remove a Many-To-Many relationship with LINQ-To-SQL?

  I'm trying to write a SQL Server database update script. I want to test for the existence of a column in a table, then if it doesn't exist add the column with a default value, and finally update that column based on the current value of a different column in the same table. I want this script to be runnable multiple times, the first time updating the table and on subsequent runs the script should be ignored. • Can't connect to samba

I am running Samba 3.0.23d on FreeBSD is release 7.1 I changed the policies as described above but still cannot connect to the samba server with the windows 7 or a server 2008. I feel it is a problem with recognizing the new machines on the network. the windows machines can see the samba server, but cannot connect to it or view any of the files.   Hello guys! I am doing my download with an object which was inherited from NSOperation. I have read the documentation and when my operation finished I must call the [self.delegate performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(operationDidFinish:) withObject:self waitUntilDone:YES]; method. It needs to be called on the main thread, because the UIKit is not thread safe and the documentation says this in these non thread safe frameworks cases. In the delegate method I am drawing a pdf or an image, but because it is drawn on the main thread the User Interface is very laggy until the drawing is finished. Maybe can you suggest me a good way to avoid this problem?

• Cannot run code on device

  Hi I have some source code which I had developed and later gave to another team. They signed it with their certificate and provisioning profile. Now I have the code back and have set the appropriate values in the project properties for code signing identity (with my cert and profile). But when I run the application on a device, I get an error showing the other team's certificate and prompting that the provisioning profile does not exist. I don't know where it is being referenced.   I'm using a JMS queue to read from and insert data into a postgres table created by grails. The problem is obtaining the next sequence value. I thought I had found the solution with the following statement (by putting "DEFAULT" where the ID should go), but it's no longer working. I must have changed something, because I needed to recreate the table.   I'm hoping to reach someone with some experience using a service like Amazon's S3 with this question. On my site we have a dedicated image server. And on this server, we have an automatic 404 redirect through Apapche so that, if a user tries to access an image that doesn't exist, they'll see a snazzy "Image Not Available" image. We're looking to move the hosting of these images to a cloud storage solution (S3 or Rackspace's CloudFiles), and I'm wondering if anyone's had any success replicating this behavior on a cloud storage service and if so how they did it.

  I have a multi-target iPhone app which currently includes a header file with constant definitions that are conditionally included at build time depending on which target is being built. However, I was wondering if it might be better to instead include this information in the info.plist for the build, as this generally holds target-specific meta, so logically seems more appropriate. Therefore, my questions are: Is it acceptable to include custom (non-Apple defined) keys in the info.plist file? Is this a suitable place to include meta for the app which changes between targets?

  We need to implement some general-purpose object structure, much like an object in dynamic languages, that would give us a possibility of creating the whole object graph on-the-fly. This class has to be serializable and somehow user friendly. So far we have made some experiments with class derived from Dictionary<string, object> using the dot notation path to store properties and collections in the object tree. We have also find an article that implements something similar, but it doesn't seem to fit completely into our picture either. Do you know about some good implementations / libraries that deal with a similar problem or do you have any (non-trivial) ideas that could help us with our own implementation ? Also, I probably have to say that we are using .NET 3.5, so we can't take advantage of the new features in .NET 4.0 like dynamic type etc. (as far as I know it's also not possible to use any subset of it in .NET 3.5 solution).

• Core dump equivalence for Java

  So far I have learned about generating thread dump and heap dump using jstack and and jmap respectively. However, jstack thread dump contains only texts describing the stack on each thread. And opening heap dump (.hprof file) with Java VisualVM only shows the objects allocated in the heap. What I actually want is to be able see the stack, to switch to particular stack frame, and watch local variables. This kind of post-mortem debugging can be done normally with tools like WinDbg, gdb and a core file (for a native C++ program.) I wonder if such 'core' file (which will allow me to debug in non-live environment) exists in Java?

  I know of two ways of creating custom JSF components: 1. Native JSF way: creating JSF component class, tag, etc. 2. Facelets way: defining component in a xhtml file and then creating appropriate decrption in facelets taglib. Currently I work on a project in which introducing facelets is unfortunately out of the question. On the other hand, creating custom components the standard JSF way seems like a pain in the ass. Is there maybe a third party library that allows creating custom components in the way similar to facelets but doesn't entail the need of using non-standard renderer?

  I am making a C# project in which I am using ScintillaNet, and it says: The referenced assembly "ScintillaNet" could not be resolved because it has a dependency on "System.Design, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" which is not in the currently targeted framework ".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client". Please remove references to assemblies not in the targeted framework or consider retargeting your project. I tried adding a reference to System.Design, but it doesn't exist in my list. Do I need to download it somewhere? I have MS Visual Studio 10.
