  • How can I get rid of specific error messages in the mac terminal?

    For some reasons i always get the following whenever i log into my terminal: : command not found : command not found : command not found : command not found : command not found It's really a minor problem because everything is working fine, or at least everything what im using in the terminal. Still it would just look nicer without them. Any help? I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 <= if this helps solving the problem

    Im reading in 2 csv file: store_inventory & new_acquisitions... I want to be able to compare the store_inventory csv file with new_acquisitions. 1) If the item names match just update the quantity in store_inventory. 2) If new_acquisitions has a new item that does not exist in store_inventory, then add it to the store_inventory. Heres what i have so far but its not very good. I added comments where i need to add taks 1) & 2). Any advice or code would be great, thanks.     I followed the answer to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1245364/securing-elmah-in-asp-net-website to restrict access to the elmah handler. However, it seems that adding an RSS feed to Outlook for the URL elmah.axd/rss or elmah.axd/digestrss bypasses the authentication. What's the point of securing the handler if someone can guess the RSS URL and subscribe to a feed of the error log?

  • Form data sent to Node via Post is undefined

    I know this has been asked countless times on here, however I tried all the solutions and am still having the issue. Most people say to set the content-type (which I did) and to name the inputs that I wish to Post to node. I have done both of these things, yet still get "undefined" when trying to send data from an HTML form to node.   • For how long can a file be locked in windows after program is closed?

    In a couple of scripts that I use I have problem that is intermittent. Sometimes the script fails when trying to delete a file. According to the error log due to the file being accessed by an other process. I'm guessing that windows not had time to release the file after the previous operation performed on the file ended. What amount of time would be a good guesstimate after which windows should have had time to release the file again?

    I am looking for a way to direct all the jetty 7 logging to syslog. My current configuration dumps everything to JETTY_HOME/logs/.. After some initial ivestigation, it seems I should change JETTY_HOME/etc/jetty-logging.xml, but this does not look straightforward. It looks like I should create a new PrintStream implementation which sends its output to syslog and redirecting stderr and stdout to that class in jetty-logging.xml. any easier way to do that or to make jetty log directly to log4j ?     My event log is flooded with this message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired. I think this happens when people timeout instead of logout. First of all , this is not an error, it's Type: Information I don't want this information, how do I stop ASP.NET from logging it? My application is not web-farmed, and uses a static machine key.

I take a look at my cellphone's clock every time when go to sleep or after wake up, so I need some program to hook to my cellphone's on/off button, and log the timestamp when I press it.     How can I browse the SQLite database that I am creating in my app on my Android myTouch phone? When I log in through adb shell, sqlite3 gives me a permission denied. Is there another way to check if my database and tables are actually being created, and if rows are being inserted? I am not able to use the emulator, since it doesn't play videos etc. very well that is the main feature of my app, so I can only test on phone. Thanks Chris

  • Best Practices / Patterns for Enterprise Protection/Remediation of SSNs (Social Security Numbers)

    I am interested in hearing about enterprise solutions for SSN handling. (I looked pretty hard for any pre-existing post on SO, including reviewing the terriffic SO automated "Related Questions" list, and did not find anything, so hopefully this is not a repeat.) First, I think it is important to enumerate the reasons systems/databases use SSNs: (note—these are reasons for de facto current state—I understand that many of them are not good reasons) Required for Interaction with External Entities. This is the most valid case—where external entities your system interfaces with require an SSN. This would typically be government, tax and financial. SSN is used to ensure system-wide uniqueness. SSN has become the default foreign key used internally within the enterprise, to perform cross-system joins. SSN is used for user authentication (e.g., log-on) The enterprise solution that seems optimum to me is to create a single SSN repository that is accessed by all applications needing to look up SSN info. This repository substitutes a globally unique, random 9-digit number (ASN) for the true SSN. I see many benefits to this approach. First of all, it is obviously highly backwards-compatible—all your systems "just" have to go through a major, synchronized, one-time data-cleansing exercise, where they replace the real SSN with the alternate ASN. Also, it is centralized, so it minimizes the scope for inspection and compliance. (Obviously, as a negative, it also creates a single point of failure.) This approach would solve issues 2 and 3, without ever requiring lookups to get the real SSN. For issue #1, authorized systems could provide an ASN, and be returned the real SSN. This would of course be done over secure connections, and the requesting systems would never persist the full SSN. Also, if the requesting system only needs the last 4 digits of the SSN, then that is all that would ever be passed. Issue #4 could be handled the same way as issue #1, though obviously the best thing would be to move away from having users supply an SSN for log-on.   • ELMAH - Using custom error pages to collecting user feedback

    Hey guys I'm looking at using ELMAH for the first time but have a requirement that needs to be met that I'm not sure how to go about achieving... Basically, I am going to configure ELMAH to work under asp.net MVC and get it to log errors to the database when they occur. On top of this I be using customErrors to direct the user to a friendly message page when an error occurs. Fairly standard stuff... The requirement is that on this custom error page I have a form which enables to user to provide extra information if they wish. Now the problem arises due to the fact that at this point the error is already logged and I need to associate the loged error with the users feedback. Normally, if I was using my own custom implementation, after I log the error I would pass through the ID of the error to the custom error page so that an association can be made. But because of the way that ELMAH works, I don't think the same is quite possible. Hence I was wondering how people thought that one might go about doing this.... But the likely hood of that happening is remote. And this solution is independent of the session, which in our case is important, also some errors can cause sessions to be terminated, etc. Hence why this approach has worked nicely for us.
