    I'm following this tutorial to customize a Live CD, http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-customize-your-ubuntu-live-cd However, it's failed to upgrade linux-image, I guess it's just can't update-grub. Any idea? EDIT I copied the custom/ directory into an ext4 image, now the linux-image-2.6.35-24 package is successfully upgrade. But as shown in the original CDROM, the vmlinuz-* and initrd.img-* file is moved out to /casper/vmlinuz and casper/initrd.lz. Well, I can move vmlinuz-2.6.34-24-generic to /casper/vmlinuz, but how to compress file initrd.img-2.6.35-24-generic in .lz format? (It looks like lzip, but it's not: ) # cd original-maverick/casper # lzip -d initrd.lz initrd.lz: bad magic number (file not in lzip format).

    I'm sure I must be being very dumb, but I can't figure out how to use an array or matrix in the way that I would normally use a list. I.e., I want to create an empty array (or matrix) and then add one column (or row) to it at a time. At the moment the only way I can find to do this is like: mat = None for col in columns: if mat is None: mat = col else: mat = hstack((mat, col)) Whereas if it were a list, I'd do something like this: list = [] for item in data: list.append(item) Is there a way to use that kind of notation for NumPy arrays or matrices? (Or a better way -- I'm still pretty new to python!)

  • How can I access an ASP.Net 2.0 web service using VB Script?

    I'm trying to find a way to access a web service from a VB Script .vbs file running under wscript.exe. I pulled some sample code from Microsoft but it gives me an error. Dim SOAPClient, Response Set SOAPClient = createobject("MSSOAP.SOAPClient") SOAPClient.mssoapinit("https://www.domain.com/Folder/Service.asmx?WSDL") On that last line I get an error message: WSDLReader: No valid schema specification was found. This version of the SOAP Toolkit only supports 1999 and 2000 XSD schema specifications After getting that message I installed the SOAP 3.0 SDK to make sure I have the most recent version (since it's now deprecated for .Net) but I still get the same error. The reason it needs to be in VB Script is because it's going to be used in a program over which I have no control and it only supports VB Script. Is there a way to get VB Script to be able to parse a newer WSDL file? I do have the source code for the web service. Is there something I can change in the web service to make it schema compatible with the SOAP toolkit?

    I have an .Net 3.5 based web service running at http://localhost/serivce.svc/. Then I have a Asp.Net application running at http://localhost/myApp. In Application_Load my App reads some XML configuration from the web service. That works fine on my machine, but: On Vista with IIS7 the request to the web services fails. The web service can be accessed via the browser without any problem. I configured the app pool of my App to run as admin. I added the admin to the IIS_USRS group, but it still cannot access the web service. impersonate=true/false seems not to make a difference.

  • Virtualmin - Added Virtual Server - Stopped access to Rails app?

    Hi, Sorry if this sounds pretty simple, I'm new to Virtualmin and running servers in general. I recently purchased a VPS and installed Virtualmin with no problems. I then installed mod_rails and uploaded my first rails app, which I got working by adding the following to my apache httpd.conf file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName testing.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /home/myapp/public <Directory /home/myapp/public> Allow from All AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews </Directory> RailsBaseURI / </VirtualHost> I then tried adding a virtual server through Virtualmin, using mydomain.com. Now, the site this created (plus several sub-servers) and working as expected. However, my original Rails app is no longer accessible. The URL now sends me to the parent application (ie mydomain.com) The Rails app is not located within the parent's application directory, would this be a problem? Can anyone help? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi, I have a list (tmpList), which looks like this: $op [1] "empty" $termset $termset$field [1] "entry" $termset[[2]] $termset[[2]]$explode [1] "Y" This is a list with a list inside. If I add this list to a vector theOneVector = c(theOneVector, tmpList) Now the resulting vector is of the length 2, because the first entry ("op") of the list is separated from the tmpList. Is it possible to append the complete tmpList into this vector? I already tried it with theOneVector = c(theOneVector, list(tmpList)) which gives a vector with the length of 1, but it is very cumbersome to access the elements of the list with this extra list around the list. (Too much list in one sentence I think.) Any help would be appreciated, Martin

    I need to programatically interface with SharePoint folders, files and lists from outside SharePoint. Most tutorials focus on working within SharePoint itself, or at least on the same server where SharePoint is installed. I need to automate some tasks from completely different servers -- tasks that require reading SharePoint lists, browsing folders, checking files out and in, reading files stored in SharePoint libraries, etc. It used to be easy using UNC folder and file paths. Now many of our SharePoint sites don't allow UNC access (probably for good reasons), but my needs are the same. What languages / libraries / interfaces will allow this? I'd like to be able to do this from server-side .NET code and from PowerShell scripts (not on the SharePoint server). Thanks for any pointers.

    I have a random piece of code, I use for reading from CSV files... and it's fine... until after about 2000 reads... then the getline line fails with an access violation to 0xcccccc... which I assume means that the input stream (file) has been cleared...     I've a repository containing snapshot artifacts with timestamps. I want to create an assembly, that contains the dependencies. This works fine. But the artifact names contains the timestamp. So i wonder how to remove the timestamp from filename for the assembly only. I've used this dependencySet: <outputFileNameMapping>${artifact.artifactId}-${artifact.version}.${artifact.extension}</outputFileNameMapping> But version seams to contain already the timestamp. So is there any chance to get a 1.1.1-SNAPSHOT instead of 1.1.1-20100323.071348-182?

    This is a complicated situation (for me) that I'm hopeful someone on here can help me with. I've done plenty of searching for a solution and have not been able to locate one. TABLE articles (article_id, article_title) TABLE articles_tags (row_id, article_id, tag_id) TABLE article_categories (row_id, article_id, category_id) All of the tables have article_id in common. I know what all of the tag_id and category_id rows are. What I want to do is return a list of all the articles that article_tags and article_categories MAY have in common, ordered by the number of common entries. For example: article1 - tags: tag1, tag2, tag3 - categories: cat1, cat2 article2 - tags: tag2 - categories: cat1, cat2 article3 - tags: tag1, tag3 - categories: cat1 So if my article had "tag1" and "cat1 and cat2" it should return the articles in this order: article1 (tag1, cat1 and cat2 in common) article3 (tag1, cat1 in common) article2 (cat1 in common) Any help would genuinely be appreciated!     We're building a small sub-site that, on the front page, has a one input box form that users can submit. From there, they're taken to a page with a few more associated form fields (add more details, tag it, etc.) with the first main form field already filled in. This works splendidly, thus far. The problem comes for users that are not logged in. When they submit that first form, they're taken to a (LoginToboggan based) login page that allows them to login. After they login, they redirect to the second form page, but the first main form field isn't filled in -- in other words, the form data didn't persist. How can we store that data and have it persist across the access denied page?

    None of the basic table AutoFormat schemes in LibreOffice Writer have both an alternation style defined and no sum column/row style defined. If they have alternation, they always seem to have sums. Because of this I'd like to define my own table scheme. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? A WYSIWYG isn't totally necessary. I am not scared of editing simple XML files as long as I have examples to work from, and if I don't have to edit base install files. If I can place them in a custom area or my user profile directory then that would be best. If there is a way to get the GUI Add functionality to properly recognize an alternation then that would also be helpful.

    I'm trying to use the EWS API to access an Exchange server from a console program i'm writing. I've specified the type of exchange server i'm connecting to but when I try to execute the code i have, it gives me Error 1 The type 'System.TimeZoneInfo' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. C:\Documents and Settings\jsorensen\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\ConsoleApplication2\ConsoleApplication2\Program.cs 26 13 ConsoleApplication2 Does Microsoft Visual Studio Academic Edition not support TimeZoneInfo or is the version of .Net that XP can have not up-to date enough to work with the EWS API? I'm moderately new to programming in C# so some of the stuff is still confusing. Thanks.

    Well, I'm trying to create a newsletter, that will send emails to users in a database. The newsletter itself would draw "events" and other activities from a database. Whats the best way to take that list, and put them in an email? I was thinking about putting them into an html page, then sending an html email, but not all emails support html(like school email). What would your guys recommend? Could you point me to some good resources? Also, this is for a school project, so I cant use any open source type stuff, unfortunately :(

This would be helpful for IMAP folders within T-bird, when I'm looking through threads on a particular issue, but don't know if I sent the last message to the recipient, or they sent the last message to me. I would be able to quickly scroll in one column and see exactly when the last communication on that issue was. Is there a way to make a 'smart' column that would do this?

    I'm chasing a production bug that's intermittent enough to be a real bastich to diagnose properly but frequent enough to be a legitimate nuisance for our customers. While I'm waiting for it to happen again on a machine set to spam the logfile with trace output, I'm trying to come up with a theory on what it could be. Is there any way for competing file read/writes to create what amounts to a deadlock condition? For instance, let's say I have Thread A that occasionally writes to config.xml, and Thread B that occasionally reads from it. Is there a set of circumstances that would cause Thread B to prevent Thread A from proceeding? My thanks in advance to anybody who helps with this theoretical fishing expedition. Edit: To answer Pyrolistical's questions: the code isn't using Filelock, and is running on a WinXP machine.

  • Access Windows Boot Manager selector when timeout is set to 0?

    I've installed Wubi onto a Windows Vista computer. I've also set the boot timeout to 0: bcdedit /timeout 0 However, now I can't figure out how to get the menu to come up at all! I read on the internets that I had to hold F8 or space when starting up, but they doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a different key or setting I've overlooked? The computer itself is a Dell that's a few months old. The keyboard is USB, but I don't think that's the problem as I can get into the BIOS just fine. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? Am I supposed to hold the keys or rapidly tap them (I've tried both)?     I have a web service method in which I create a particular type of object, use it for a few seconds, and then dispose it. Because of problems arising from multiple threads creating and using instances of this class at the same time, I need to restrict the method so that only one caller at a time ever has one of these objects. To do this, I am creating a private static object: private static object _lock = new object(); ... and then inside the web service method I do this around the critical code: lock (_lock) { using (DangerousObject do = new DangerousObject()) { do.MakeABigMess(); do.CleanItUp(); } } I'm not sure this is working, though. Do I have this right? Will this code ensure that only one instance of DangerousObject is instantiated and in use at a time?
