  I have a dropdown list that contains a series of options: <select id=SomeDropdown> <option value="a'b]&lt;p>">a'b]&lt;p></option> <option value="easy">easy</option> <select> Notice that the option value/text contains some nasty stuff: single quotes closing square bracket escaped html I need to remove the a'b]<p option but I'm having no luck writing the selector. Neither: $("#SomeDropdown >option[value='a''b]&lt;p>']"); or $("#SomeDropdown >option[value='a\'b]&lt;p>']"); are returning the option. What is the correct way to escape values when using the "value=" selector?

• Ubutnu 12.04 mdadm inactive

  For a while now, my RAID 5 has ceased to work. Everytime I tried "madm --detail /dev/md127", its states all the drive and drive info, but that two of the drives have been removed. After some restarts, doing the same thing, i am getting /dev/md127 does not appear to be active. When I go into DiskUtil, I can see all 6 Hard Drives healthy and present, and i can see the Raid 5 at the bottom under Multi-disk Devices. However, the Raid says 0.0kb, and is not active. Please help and let me know how to proceed from here. I would really like to avoid rebuilding the RAID, especially because all 6 drives seem to be healthy and present. Thanks so much.

  I was wondering if you know of a way I could filter a mysql query to only show the ‘alpha’ characters from a specific field So something like SELECT col1, col2, **alpha_chars_only(col3)** FROM table I am not looking to update only select. I have been looking at some regex but without much luck most of what turned up was searching for fields that only contain ‘alpha’ chars. In a much watered down context... I have col1 which contains abc and col two contains abc123 and I want to match them on alpha chars only. There can be any number of letters or numbers. Any help very much wel come

• UINavigationController doesn't fully push view and only changes the Navigation toolbar to the next v

  So I have an iPhone application that utilizes a UINavigationController for setting up the views. When the application first starts, it presents the user with a UITableViewController and the user can select an item and it will push another view. Now I have it set so that my app remembers the user's last selection and automatically selects it and loads the correct view controller. The only problem is that I am experiencing a really weird glitch when I load the next view automatically.. When the view is pushed, the navigation toolbar will change so that a back button directed to the previous view is showing but it won't display the next view. It will instead keep showing the table view and I can interact with it as well. I can press the back button and it will change the toolbar back and the tableview is still shown. Then when I select an item it loads the view just fine. Thanks for the help.

• Javascript auto calculating with (+) and (-)

  I need some help finding the error in my javascript calculation. I need to calculate the sum of my input boxes automatically and have my user be able to edit the calculation using + or - buttons. The code I have already does the calculation automatically if you manually enter the numbers, but pressing the + or - does not change the calculation. • In SQL, a Join is actually an Intersection? And it is also a linkage or a "Sideway Union"?

  I always thought of a Join in SQL as some kind of linkage between two tables. For example, select e.name, d.name from employees e, departments d where employees.deptID = departments.deptID In this case, it is linking two tables, to show each employee with a department name instead of a department ID. And kind of like a "linkage" or "Union" sideway". But, after learning about inner join vs outer join, it shows that a Join (Inner join) is actually an intersection. For example, when one table has the ID 1, 2, 7, 8, while another table has the ID 7 and 8 only, the way we get the intersection is: select * from t1, t2 where t1.ID = t2.ID to get the two records of "7 and 8". So it is actually an intersection. So we have the "Intersection" of 2 tables. Compare this with the "Union" operation on 2 tables. Can a Join be thought of as an "Intersection"? But what about the "linking" or "sideway union" aspect of it?

  I thought I had this figured out but it turns out I'm just deleting the first record. The following returns the duplicate rows. All have a count of 2. I just want to delete the first one for each duplicate record. select scorestudentid, scoreadvisor, scorecorrect, count(*) from scores where scoretestid = 3284 group by scorestudentid, scoreadvisor, scorecorrect having count(scorestudentid) > 1 Which returns: scorestudentid scoreadvisor scorecorrect no column name 13033719 28059 3.0 2 13033777 28086 3.0 2 13033826 28147 3.0 2 13033960 28023 3.0 2 So I put this together thinking it would work: set rowcount 1 delete from scores where scoretestid = 3284 and scorestudentid in ( select scorestudentid from scores where scoretestid = 3284 group by scorestudentid having count(scorestudentid) > 1) It really seems like it should be a simple concept but I'm not getting it.

• How to create a project from existing source in Eclipse and then find it?

  I have created several .class files. All of them are located in one directory. I used a text editor to write these class files. Now I want to switch to Eclipse. In Eclipse I click File-New-Java Project. Then I select "Create project from existing source". After that I select the directory where all my .class files and click OK. As a result, nothing visible happens. But when I try to do the same, Eclipse tells me that that this project already exist. Where does it exist and how can I access it? By the way, in my "workspace" file nothing new appeared. Is it OK? I though my new Java Project will be there.

I can't use the __() helper inside the form, and adding that string into my XLIFF file doesn't translate it automatically. If it can't be done, what workaround should I implement? • Get count matches in query on large table very slow

  I have a mysql table "items" with 2 integer fields: seid and tiid The table has about 35000000 records, so it's very large. seid tiid ----------- 1 1 2 2 2 3 2 4 3 4 4 1 4 2 The table has a primary key on both fields, an index on seid and an index on tiid. Someone types in 1 or more tiid values and now I would like to get the seid with most results. For example when someone types 1,2,3, I would like to get seid 2 and 4 as result. They both have 2 matches on the tiid values. My query so far: SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid HAVING c = (SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid ORDER BY c DESC LIMIT 1) But this query is extremly slow, because of the large table. Does anyone know how to construct a better query for this purpose?

• How can I efficiently retrieve a large number of database settings as PHP variables?

  Currently all of my script's settings are located in a PHP file which I 'include'. I'm in the process of moving these settings (about 100) to a database table called 'settings'. However I'm struggling to find an efficient way of retrieving all of them into the file. The settings table has 3 columns: ID (autoincrements) name value Two example rows might be: 1 admin_user john 2 admin_email_address [email protected] The only way I can think of retrieving each setting is like this: $result = mysql_query("SELECT value FROM settings WHERE name = 'admin_user'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $admin_user = $row['value']; $result = mysql_query("SELECT value FROM settings WHERE name = 'admin_email_address'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $admin_email_address = $row['value']; etc etc Doing it this way will take up a lot of code and will likely be slow.   Does it make a difference if you do count(*) vs count(column-name) as in these two examples? I have a tendency to always write count(*) because it seems to fit better in my mind with the notion of it being an aggregate function, if that makes sense. But I'm not sure if it's technically best as I tend to see example code written without the * more often than not. count(*): select customerid, count(*), sum(price) from items_ordered group by customerid having count(*) > 1; vs. count(column-name): SELECT customerid, count(customerid), sum(price) FROM items_ordered GROUP BY customerid HAVING count(customerid) > 1;

  When paginating through our Phrase table it takes very long to return the results. In the sql logs we see many sql requests which don't make sense to us: Phrase Load (7.4ms) SELECT "phrases".* FROM "phrases" WHERE "phrases"."id" IS NULL LIMIT 1 User Load (0.4ms) SELECT "users".* FROM "users" WHERE "users"."id" IS NULL LIMIT 1 These add up significantly. • Querying associated images in one table after querying products from another

  I'm building a dml file that first deletes records that may be in the table, then inserts records. Example: DELETE from foo where field1='bar'; DELETE from foo where fields1='bazz'; INSERT ALL INTO foo(field1, field2) values ('bar', 'x') INTO foo(field1, field2) values ('bazz', 'y') SELECT * from DUAL; When I run the insert statement by itself, it runs fine. When I run the deletes, only the last delete runs. Also, it seems to be necessary to end the multiple insert with the select, is that so? If so, why is that necessary? In the past, when using MySQL, I could just list multiple delete and insert statements, all individually ending with a semicolon, and it would run fine.
