• iPhone Crash Report

  My iPhone app is crashing for certain users in UK. I tried using UK timezone and their region format but couldn't reproduce the crash on my iPhone or emulator. Eventually got a crash report and I was able to symbolicate it. However, I have a hard time understanding the results. It appears thread 0 crashed in a system library. The only call from my app is main.m. Thread 4 has something familiar. • App crashes after a few seconds

  when i launch my app, on trying to do something, it will crash after a couple of seconds. I have warnings of warning: incorrect implementation of "downloadTextViewCOntroller. • Problem with custom paging in ASP.NET

  I'm trying to add custom paging to my site using the ObjectDataSource paging. I believe I've correctly added the stored procedures I need, and brought them up through the DAL and BLL. There's code in code file to put the value of the GetMessagesCount call in the lblCount, and that always has a sensible value in it. I've tried breaking in the BLL and stepping through, and the backend is getting called, and it is returning what looks like the right information and data, but somehow between the ODS and the GridView it's vanishing. I created a mock data source which returned numbered rows of random numbers and attached it to this form, and the custom paging worked so I think my understanding of the technique is good. I just can't see why it fails here! Any help really appreciated. • Rails & combo box change event: Help make this obtrusive javascript unobtrusive

  Ok so a friend of mine gave some help with a prototype/obtrusive solution to this but its not quite there. Also, I want to make this unobtrusive instead of using the observe_field function that rails gives me. I don't want to use prototype either because I'm more familiar with JQuery. Here's my problem: I have an Event that can have multiple ServiceTypes and a ServiceType can belong to many Events. A many-to-many relationship between these two exists as an OfferedService. When creating an event, I have a drop down with a list of TimeAllotments that are something like 10 minutes, 12 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes etc. When the user selects one of these choices, I want a div tag to be filled with a list of ServiceTypes that are associated with this TimeAllotment. So for example, the user selects "10 minutes" and then the div repopulates with services that last 10 minutes. I have looked at Ryan's rails casts for using JQuery but its not helpful because he deals with ajax calls for the create action. This would be for the new or edit action. I have a new.js.erb but it doesn't get loaded when calling the new action. I'm super lost as far as getting JQuery to work with my application. I think that if someone can just show me how to make an alert pop up when I change the combo box, and how to return a dataset using ajax the right now, I think I can figure out the rest. • What is my HttpContext.GetLocalResourceObject Method Virtual Path?

  I have read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms149953.aspx and need to verify what is my GetLocalResourceObject virtual path. My local resource files are located on my pc at: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\GlobalX\Input\App_LocalResources Within this folder are my resource files for all the languages that site handles (InputContactDetails.aspx.ro.resx, InputContactDetails.aspx.hi.resx, etc.), as well as the default resource file (InputContactDetails.aspx.resx). I am receiving an error when I attempt to implement the virtual path string. • DTGridView losing content while scrolling

I implemented it in a very simple ViewController and the test I am doing is to place a button in the last row of the grid, which should add another row to the grid (and therefor moving the button to a row beneath it). The problem is, when I click the button a couple of times and then start scrolling, the grid seems to lose its content. As I am not completly sure this is a bug in the grid, but more in my code, I hope you guys can help me out and track down the bug. The problem starts, when it starts reusing cells (I am guessing) and content start disappearing. When I scroll back up, the UILabels I am putting in the cells are gone. Is there some bug, code error, mistake, dumb-ass-move I am missing here? Hope anyone can help.

  I have a ListBox that is bound to a list of CustomerViewModel-objects, that each has two dependency properties: - Name (string) - Description (string) - IsVisible (bool) (the IsVisible property is True by default and is reversed via the ToggleVisibility Command on the CustomerViewModel) I would like to display the Name and Description to the right of a Border-control, that is has a Transparent background when the IsVisible property is True and Green when the False. My problem is that the DataTrigger part of the code below doesn't work the way I want, because the Setter-part isn't triggered when the IsVisible is changed. What am I doing wrong?   Hi there, I've been working on this general allocation algorithm for students. The pseudocode for it (a Python implementation) is: for a student in a dictionary of students: for student's preference in a set of preferences (ordered from 1 to 10): let temp_project be the first preferred project check if temp_project is available if so, allocate it to them and make the project UNavailable to others Quite simply this will try to allocate projects by starting from their most preferred. The way it works, out of a set of say 100 projects, you list 10 you would want to do. So the 10th project wouldn't be the "least preferred overall" but rather the least preferred in their chosen set, which isn't so bad. Obviously if it can't allocate a project, a student just reverts to the base case which is an allocation of None, with a rank of 11. What I'm doing is calculating the allocation "quality" based on a weighted sum of the ranks. So the lower the numbers (i.e. more highly preferred projects), the better the allocation quality (i.e. more students have highly preferred projects). That's basically what I've currently got. Simple and it works. Now I'm working on this algorithm that tries to minimise the allocation weight locally (this pseudocode is a bit messy, sorry). The only reason this will probably work is because my "search space" as it is, isn't particularly large (just a very general, anecdotal observation, mind you). Since the project is only specific to my Department, we have their own limits imposed. So the number of students can't exceed 100 and the number of preferences won't exceed 10. for student in a dictionary/list/whatever of students: where i = 0 take the (i)st student, (i+1)nd student for their ranks: allocate the projects and set local_weighting to be sum(student_i.alloc_proj_rank, student_i+1.alloc_proj_rank) these are the cases: if local_weighting is 2 (i.e. both ranks are 1): then i += 1 and and continue above if local weighting is = N>2 (i.e. one or more ranks are greater than 1): let temp_local_weighting be N: pick student with lowest rank and then move him to his next rank and pick the other student and reallocate his project after this if temp_local_weighting is < N: then allocate those projects to the students move student with lowest rank to the next rank and reallocate other if temp_local_weighting < previous_temp_allocation: let these be the new allocated projects try moving for the lowest rank and reallocate other else: if this weighting => previous_weighting let these be the allocated projects i += 1 and move on for the rest of the students So, questions: This is sort of a modification of simulated annealing, but any sort of comments on this would be appreciated. How would I keep track of which student is (i) and which student is (i+1) If my overall list of students is 100, then the thing would mess up on (i+1) = 101 since there is none.   I'm trying to record a webcam's video and audio to a FLV file stored on the users local hard disk. I have a version of this code working which uses NetConnection and NetStream to stream the video over a network to a FMS (Red5) server, but I'd like to be able to store the video locally for low bandwidth/flaky network situations. I'm using FLex 3.2 and AIR 1.5, so I don't believe there should be any sandbox restrictions which prevent this from occurring. Things I've seen: FileStream - Allows reading.writing local files but no .attachCamera and .attachAudio methids for creating a FLV. flvrecorder - Produces screen grabs from the web cam and creates it's own flv file. Doesn't support Audio. License prohibits commercial use. SimpleFLVWriter.as - Similar to flvrecorder without the wierd license. Doesn't support audio. This stackoverflow post - Which demonstrates the playback of a video from local disk using a NetConnection/NetStream. Given that I have a version already which uses NetStream to stream to the server I thought the last was most promising and went ahead and put together this demo application. Within the NAnt task is a C# script which prompts the developer for database credentials (username, password, database) in order to compile the forms and reports. I want to then run these credentials against the relevant database to ensure the credentials entered are correct and, if they are not, prompt the user to re-enter their credentials. However, as mentioned in the link, Microsoft is discontinuing support for this so it is not a desireable solution. I have also fonud that Oracle provides its own classes for connecting to Oracle databases clicky. However, this only seems to support connecting to Oracle 9 or newer databases (clicky) so it is not feasible solution as I also need to connect to Oracle 6i databases. I could achieve this by calling a bat script from within the C# script, but I would much prefer to have a single build file for simplicity. Each group has 20-200 distinct product numbers (pnumber), so there are at least a few thousand CatalogItems. I am working on formsets for the Transaction model. Instead of a single select menu with the several thousand CatalogItems for the ForeignKey field, I want to substitute three drop-down menus, for group, run, and pnumber, which uniquely identify the CatalogItem. I'd also like to limit the choices in the second two drop-downs to those runs and pnumbers which are available for the currently selected product group (I can update them via AJAX if the user changes the product group, but it's important that the initial page load as described without relying on AJAX). What's the best way to do this? As a point of departure, here's what I've tried/considered so far: My first approach was to exclude the item foreign key field from the form, add the substitute dropdowns by overriding the add_fields method of the formset, and then extract the data and populate the fields manually on the model instances before saving them. It's straightforward and pretty simple, but it's not very reusable and I don't think it is the right way to do this. My second approach was to create a new field which inherits both MultiValueField and ModelChoiceField, and a corresponding MultiWidget subclass. This seems like the right approach. As Malcolm Tredinnick put it in a django-users discussion, "the 'smarts' of a field lie in the Field class." The problem I'm having is when/where to fetch the lists of choices from the db. The code I have now does it in the Field's __init__, but that means I have to know which ProductGroup I'm dealing with before I can even define the Form class, since I have to instantiate the Field when I define the form. So I have a factory function which I call at the last minute from my view--after I know what CatalogItems I have and which product group they're in--to create form/formset classes and instantiate them. It works, but I wonder if there's a better way. After all, the field should be able to determine the correct choices much later on, once it knows its current value. Another problem is that my implementation limits the entire formset to transactions relating to (CatalogItems from) a single ProductGroup. A third possibility I'm entertaining is to put it all in the Widget class. Once I have the related model instance, or the cid, or whatever the widget is given, I can get the ProductGroup and construct the drop-downs. This would solve the issues with my second approach, but doesn't seem like the right approach.

  I'm having some serious performance issues with a multi-million row table that I feel I should be able to get results from fairly quick. Here's a run down of what I have, how I'm querying it, and how long it's taking: I'm running SQL Server 2008 Standard, so Partitioning isn't currently an option I'm attempting to aggregate all views for all inventory for a specific account over the last 30 days.
