  http://mts.varicentondemand.com URL is correct. It worked the other day. URL to pointing at db server and db was edited this morning in 'jdbc.properties' file and is correct. Nothing wrong with the pointers in that sense. To pick up the changes 'Apache Tomcat 6 was restarted. Everything should work, but the page is not coming up. Tried URL form local as well as the web/app server itself. Where to check for clues?

  I am trying to get apaches server status to work with Plesk 11. But running sudo /usr/sbin/apache2ctl fullstatus results in: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /server-status on this server. __________________________________________________________________ Apache Server at localhost Port 80 'www-browser -dump http://localhost:80/server-status' failed. Maybe you need to install a package providing www-browser or you need to adjust the APACHE_LYNX variable in /etc/apache2/envvars How can I enable server status? So far I have tried to insert <Location /server-status> SetHandler server-status Order Deny,Allow Deny from all Allow from localhost </Location> into the httpd.conf, but I am not sure if it is active. I also tried adding it to /var/www/vhosts/somedomain/conf/vhost.conf but I do not know which domain I have to add this to, as fullstatus seems to query localhost directly. I guess I am a little confused by the use of vhost configuration in Plesk.

• Is there any way to make cherokee server portable?

  I develop on different machines. I use MAMP, I have it installed on my dropbox folder and created symbolic links to the applications folder. That way if I work one day on my desktop and make changes to let's say a database schema and next day I work from my laptop I won't have to do any db migration stuff the same applies for all the apache virtual hosts I have setup using MAMP. Everything is portable. I recently started using Cherokee server and I like it a lot. I would like to replace MAMP with Cherokee but first I need to be able to make it portable. I don't want to have to configure multiple virtual hosts, settings, etc., on multiple machines. Is there any way I can set up Cherokee to be as portable as MAMP? What if I want to run Cherokee from a thumbdrive?

  I recently compiled php 5.4 from source. I have Centos 6. I used this configuration: # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql # make # make install # cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php.ini I realize now that I do not have cURL installed. I don't know how to install cURL after a compiled installation of php. Using yum install php-curl installs cURL for php 5.3. I tried this already with an apache restart and it did not show up on my phpinfo file. How do I install cURL under these circumstances?

  Hello! I want to keep my blog in subfolder domain_com/htdocs/blog and access it using blog.domain.com. I can obtain it using apache's mod_rewrite: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^blog\.domain\.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^/blog RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /blog/$1 [L] But I also want to redirect hxxp://domain.com/blog to hxxp://blog.domain.com (simply because I want to hide it from users). Simple redirection like: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^wojtyniak\.com$ RewriteRule %{REQUEST_URI} ^/foo RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://foo.wojtyniak.com [L,R=301] causes redirection loop.   I use Apache 2.2.16 as Reverse Proxy. For a static website, I don't have any issues. However, when began to use cookies, I've noticed that cookies are not being sent to the client.   I have enabled mod_rewrite on my server and confirmed it using phpinfo() and it shows as enabled. I have the following in my httpd.conf file: ServerName 172.16.1.114 RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/test$ /index.php I've tried the rewrite rule on another server and it works as expected. No errors are thrown to my apache error log and it restarts cleanly. When I try the page it 404s and doesn't load index.php I'm sure this must be a simple problem, but I am at a loss on how to figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

• Sending mail to local address crashes web server (sendmail)

  When trying to send mail automatically from a script at example.com via PHP's mail() to [email protected], the Apache server throws an Internal Error. I believe internally it is configured to use sendmail. The message gets dropped into ~/dead.letter and the general error log reads: [Wed May 12 11:26:45 2010] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] malformed header from script. Bad header=/home/example/dead.letter... S: /home/example/www/test.php Trying any other address, not @example.com, works just fine. I have googled and serverfaulted for solutions, but they all require to edit configuration files in /etc/mail and similar system places, which is not an option, since this problem occurs on a shared host in which I only have access to ~/. Does anyone have a suggestion?

  i'm doing some research on how browsers support TLS-SRP (RFC5054). I know that TLS-SRP is implemented in GnuTLS, OpenSSL as of release 1.0.1, Apache mod_gnutls, cURL, TLS Lite and SecureBlackbox. I don't find any fresh source of information, only this from 2011: http://sim.ivi.co/2011/07/compare-tls-cipher-suites-for-web.html I'm testing them manually at the moment, but as far as i know nobody seems to support it. My interest is then in understanding if browsers are planning to support these ciphersuites in the future, apart from the current state.   We're in the process of creating a shared webhosting infrastructure for our university. Departments within the university can host their sites on this infrastructure. We're thinking of setting up multiple, load balanced web servers attached to shared storage (for web content and Apache config files). There will also be database servers behind these web servers. Does anyone have any other suggestions about this? Any recommendations for an alternative setup? Would having cPanel/WHM/Plesk be a good idea to automate account creation/maintenance?

I'm using the default install of Apache and PHP for development and have installed MongoDB, however I can't work with Mongo/PHP without the mongo PECL extension. • PHP shell_exec times out, but not when executed manually

  I have a Windows 2008 server with PHP and msys installed. I also have a simple php script that calls shell_exec and tars a few files. When I run the script on my development machine (Windows 7), it works fine. However, when I run it on the Windows 2k8 server, it times out. When I copy and paste exactly what's being run on the cmd line and run it, it executes w/out error in less than a second. One more important detail: when I shell_exec 'dir' or 'netstat', the script runs without any problems. When I shell_exec 'ls' it hangs. When I run ls on the command line, it returns immediately. Other details that might be useful: The Windows 2k8 server is a VPS hosted by Rackspace. I did vanilla installs of Apache, PHP, and msys, but I haven't installed anything else. When I run whoami, I see the php script is executing as the user "nt authority\system".

Otherwise I can't figure out how would I forward requests in iptables/firewall based on IP address, which is just one. How is IP based virtual hosting done as to Tomcat and multiple instances ? I'd like to hear some usage scenarios from your experience. How are you running your applications. Cause there are applications having it's own modified classloader and they are developed in a way to run alone withing a tomcat instance.   I'm running apache and bind9 on the same server. I would like to set a master zone to route back to this very machine's IP address without explicitly specifying it. Is this possible? If I use 127.0.0.1 for the A record, then when another computer on the network does an nslookup for mydomain.local, bind of course just returns the loopback ip (127.0.0.1) -- not the IP of the server. Is there to way to tell it to just return the network IP address for the server itself, as defined in /etc/network/interfaces?

  I would like to add some type of tracking / alerting on some linux webservers running PHP and Apache. In doing searches I have come across a lot of info from 2006-2009. Would like to revisit things and see what others are doing now. The main purpose here is to track when any files are changed and if so alert me somehow. • How to configure nginx to serve static contents from RAM?

  I want to set up nginx as my web server. I want to have image files cached in the memory (RAM) rather then disk. I am serving a small page and want few images always served from RAM. I dont wish to use varnish (or any other such tools) for this as I believe nginx has a capability to cache contents into RAM. I am not sure as how may I configure nginx for this? I did try few combinations but they didn't work. nginx uses disk all the time to get images. For example, when I tried apache benchmark to test with following command - ab -c 500 -n 1000 http://localhost/banner.jpg I get following error - socket: Too many open files (24) I guess this means nginx is trying to open to many files simultaneously from the disk and OS is not allowing this operation.
