  • What is the command line syntax to embed MPlayer in an app window in OS X?

    I know the window ID, and I'm trying stuff like: mplayer -ontop -slave -quiet -wid 471165040 /t.mov mplayer -ontop -slave -quiet --window=471165040 /t.mov but nothing is working. (I know the window ID is correct) Otherwise, mplayer CLI is working great in its own window, just can't get it to play embedded. Can anyone point me to a syntax example of embedding mplayer in an app in OS X? thanks!

  • Dereferencing within a buffer

    Let's say I had a char pointer pointing to a buffer that contained these values (in hex): 12 34 56 78 00 00 80 00 I want to modify the last two bytes to a short value of 42. So I would think I would have to do something like this: (short)*(pointer+6)=42; The compiler doesn't complain but it does not do what I'm expecting it to do. Can someone tell me the correct way to assign the value?

    Hi, When you develop a Java application that talks to oracle DBs, there are 2 options right? One is oracle thin driver, and the other is OCI driver that requires its own installation (please correct if I'm misunderstanding). Now, what are the pros and cons? Obviously thin driver sounds much better in terms of installation, but is there anything that OCI can and the thin one can't? Develop environment is Tomcat6 + Spring 3.0 + JPA(Hibernate) + appache-DBCP Thanks in advance.

Let's say I have this URL. localhost/site/index.php and I want to rewrite it as this URL localhost/site/tutorial I would use this RewriteRule Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^tutorial/(.*)$ /up/index.php The page works, but the CSS files don't load. Also, if I have a URL like this: index.php?page=home Then I would have to parse through that URL to get 'home' not using $_GET anymore correct??

    I put my buttons in a JPane with GridLayout. Then I put JPanel into another JPanel with BoxLayout.Y_AXIS. I want buttons in the GridLayout to be square. I use tmp.setSize(30,30) and it does not work. I also try to use new GridLayout(X, Y, 4, 4) but I cannot figure out what X and Y are. So, what is the correct way to do this stuff?

    Here is a much simplified version of what I am trying to do static void Main(string[] args) { int test = 0; int test2 = 0; Test A = new Test(ref test); Test B = new Test(ref test); Test C = new Test(ref test2); A.write(); //Writes 1 should write 1 B.write(); //Writes 1 should write 2 C.write(); //Writes 1 should write 1 Console.ReadLine(); } class Test { int _a; public Test(ref int a) { _a = a; //I loose the reference here } public void write() { var b = System.Threading.Interlocked.Increment(ref _a); Console.WriteLine(b); } } In my real code I have a int that will be incremented by many threads however where the threads a called it will not be easy to pass it the parameter that points it at the int(In the real code this is happening inside a IEnumerator). So a requirement is the reference must be made in the constructor. Also not all threads will be pointing at the same single base int so I can not use a global static int either. I know I can just box the int inside a class and pass the class around but I wanted to know if that is the correct way of doing something like this?     Just seeking confirmation here : apache Thrift protocol does not seem to support running multiple services on one transport endpoint ? ( a socket, file, whatever ) I cant seem to figure out how to do something like this in Thrift: service otherService { void dosomething() } service rootService { otherService getOtherService() } There does not seem to be any concept of passing in and out service handles, ultimately limited by the protocol. Looks like you can not run two services on one transport pipe. Correct ?
