  • How do you reference a custom object outside of the function it was created in with JavaScript?

    Hi, I'm currently using JavaScript and jQuery. I have an function which executes once the document is ready, and inside that I am creating objects which contain various attributes. Within the same function, I can access these new object's attributes no problem, however once I'm inside a different function I can't seem to reference them properly and therefore cannot access the objects or the information inside them. What's the correct way to reference the attributes of an object which was created in a different function to the one looking for the information?

  • Why Java servlet can't get Paypal IPN messages everytime ?

    I have a Java servlet running on my notebook with Windows Vista, I set up a static IP, did port forwarding and registered for a free DDNS service, now my servlet is running, I gave the url to Paypal to send me IPN messages, I went on to it's sandbox site got to the test tools page, tried to send test messages by clicking the "Send IPN" button, most of the time it would fail, the error is : "IPN delivery failed. Unable to connect to the specified URL. Please verify the URL and try again." But maybe 1 in 10 times, it might be successful and my servlet would get the message, and I looked at the messages I got, they are in correct format. So I called Paypal asking why, he said I shouldn't run the servlet on my notebook, in stead I should run it on the web server, but I told him my ISP doesn't support Java on their server, and since I did all the above steps, shouldn't it be the same to run the servlet on my notebook ? He said his test showed he couldn't get to my servlet, but I asked why maybe 1 in 10 times it could get through ? If there is something wrong with running it on my notebook, then 100% times it should fail, am I correct on this point ? But anyway he said that's all he could do, and I should troubleshoot it myself.   • app icon not showing in iphone simulator

    I have a 57x57 PNG file in the root of my bundle, and the "Icon file" setting in my .plist file has the correct filename, but when the app is installed to the simulator, the icon is the default grey/white one. I've tried deleting my app from the simulator (both through the simulator and through rm -rf on the app directory from the console), I've tried cleaning my target, and I've tried renaming my app icon, all to no avail. What do I have to do to get the icon showing?

    i see that in tableSorter you can sort one page at a time which concerns me. Only 1 page of results can be sorted at a time?, which is pretty limiting.   • ASP.NET MVC - PartialView html not changing via jQuery html() call

    When I change the selection in a DropDownList, a PartialView gets updated via a GET request. When updating the PartialView via the jQuery html() function, the html returned is correct but when it displayed in the browser it is not correct. For example, certain checkboxes within the PartialView should become enabled but they remain disabled even though the html returned says they should be. When I do a view source in the browser the html never gets updated. I'm a little perplexed. Thoughts?     Hi guys, I've run into the following annoying and seemingly incorrect behaviour in the Visual Studio 2008 C++ compiler: Suppose I have a class library - Car.lib - that uses a "Car" class, with a header called "Car.h": class Car { public: void Drive() { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; What I'm actually trying to do is use the Car headers (for some other functions), but without having to link with Car.lib itself (the actual class is not called "Car" but I am sanitising this example). If I #include "Car.h" in the .cpp file used to build a managed C++ .dll, but never refer to Car, everything compiles and links fine. This is because I never instantiate a Car object. However, the following: namespace { class Car { public: Car(const Car& rhs) { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; } leaves me with the link error: Error 2 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: void __thiscall `anonymous namespace'::Car::Accelerate(void)" (?Accelerate@Car@?A0xce3bb5ed@@$$FQAEXXZ) CREObjectWrapper.obj CREObjectBuilderWrapper Note I've declared the whole thing inside an anonymous namespace so there's no way that the Car functions could be exported from the .DLL in any case. Declaring the copy constructor out-of-line makes no difference. i.e. the following also fails to link: class Car { public: Car(const Car& rhs); void Accelerate(); }; Car::Car(const Car& rhs) { Accelerate(); } It's something specifically to do with the copy constructor note, because the following, for example, does link: class Car { public: Car() { Accelerate(); } void Accelerate(); }; I am not a C++ standards guru but this doesn't seem correct to me. Surely the compiler still should not have had to even generate any code that calls the Car copy constructor. Can anyone confirm if this behaviour is correct? It's been a while since I used C++ - but I don't think this used to be an issue with Visual Studio 6.0 for example. Can anyone suggest a workaround that allows one to "re-use" the Accelerate method from within the copy constructor and still have the copy constructor declared inline?

  • Checkbox has the wrong values

    I have a page with several checkboxes on it, along with a dropdownlist of users. The checkboxes correlate to the user's permissions so each user is different. When a different user is chosen, the check boxes should change to match that user's permissions. The codebehind is correct, I stepped through it and the checkbox.checked value is being assigned to the box with the correct value to match the user. chk.Checked = viewable; No matter what I assign to the checked property the value stays the same as the very first submittal. I tried chk.EnableViewState = false; but that did not help. I am sure it is dot net trying to be helpful (grrr). Thank you for your help. There is no databinding per se. I will be saving the values from the textboxes via xmlhttp when the user clicks on them. I never want the check boxes to fill with values other than what I give them.   • silverlight 3 listbox item highlight versus selected.

    I have a listbox and am attempting to select and item in code. Sometime one item is highlighted, that is it is background is colored blue, but a different item has a square blue box around the it (no highlighting just an hollow outline of a box). Am I correct in saying one is "highlighted" and one is "selected" and do I have them correctly identified? Should this be happening... that is these 2 things being out of sync? Thanks Cody

    Am I correct in thinking that to change the checkmark for "on" to "off", I must change the CellAccessoryType between none and checkmark on the didSelectRowAtIndexPath? Because I have done this but I have noticed the behaviour is not perfectly identical to like the checkmark cells on the auto lock settings on the iphone. Or is there some other way checkmarks are meant to be handled?

    Values are received through a jQuery AJAX callback, but I've been unsuccessful getting at the values. Here's the ajax call: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ajax/ax_all_ajax_fns.php", data: 'request=edit_timecard_entry&staff_id='+staff_id+'&tid='+tid, success: function(data){ alert(data); } } Here's the code sent out by ax_all_ajax_fns.php: $staff_id = $_POST['staff_id']; $t_id = $_POST['tid']; $rCard = mysql_query("SELECT `staff_id`, `date`, `project_id`, `project_num`, `task_desc`, `hours` FROM `timecards` WHERE `t_id`='$t_id'"); $aCard = mysql_fetch_assoc($rCard); print_r($aCard); // echo $aCard; Of course, I don't want the information print_r'd, I want it echoed. The print_r was used to demonstrate that the correct data was sent out by the PHP script, and it is echoed successfully in the alert() box in the success function. So the correct data is being returned, and (if correctly formatted) it is viewable. The data returned in this way looks like this in the alert() popup: Array ( [staff_id] => 51 [date] => 2012-10-18 [project_id] => 0 [project_num => 49 [task_desk] => This is a task [hours] => 3.30 ) But when I use echo to output the $aCard array and then try to break it down inside the success function of the ajax call, I can't figure out how to get at the values. My attempts have consistently returned values of "undefined". In the success function, in place of alert(data);, I've tried this: var tce_staff_id = data['staff_id']; alert(tce_staff_id); and this: var tce_staff_id = data.staff_id; alert(tce_staff_id); What am I missing? UPDATE: Thanks to Martin S. for information re json_encode() PHP instruction. I've modified the ajax script as follows: echo json_encode($aCard); I now get THIS result from alert(data); in the success function: {"staff_id":"51","date":"2012-10-18","project_id":"0","project_num":"49","task_desc":"This is a task","hours":"3.30"} However, the following returns "undefined": alert(data.staff_id); alert(data[0].staff_id); var test = data.staff_id; alert(test); Can anyone see what I'm missing? All above code comes immediately after alert(data) inside the success callback of the ajax function. alert(data) DOES work and displays the desired data, as above.

    I have an Executors.newFixedThreadPool(1) that I send several different tasks to (all implementing Runnable), and they get queued up and run sequentially correct? What is the best way to only allow one of each task to be either running or queued up at one time? I want to ignore all tasks sent to the ExecutorService that are already in the queue.
