• Holy grail layout with 100% height

  I am trying to make a css layout that looks like this http://oi53.tinypic.com/o0v0vp.jpg The CSS term for this type of layout is known as the "holy grail" I think. The problem I am facing is that when I use layouts and solutions I find online I do not get them to work properly as I want them to. What I am trying to do is make a page that, regardless of content, will have the footer at the bottom of the browser and the columns stretching down to it. So far I have only seen pages that have the footer placed where the content stop, the result is some blank space under the footer. If anyone could help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated!

  Hello, I am trying to use regular expression to search a document fo a UUID number and replace the end of it with a new number. This where I get stuck. The file test.txt has the below UUID stored in it: self.uid = '5EFF837F-EFC2-4c32-A3D4-D15C7F9E1F22' I want to replace the part D15C7F9E1F22. I have also tried this: r = re.compile(r'(self.uid\s*=\s*)(\S+)') for l in fp: m1 = r.match(l) new=map(int,m1.group(2).split("-") new[4]='RHUI5345JO' But I cannot seem to match the string. • C# PropertyGrid drag drop

  I'm trying to implement drag/drop support to a propertygrid in C# using VS2005 (.NET 2.0). The propertygrid can handle the dragenter etc. events, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the griditem under the pointer during a drag event. The best I've been able to get so far is to use the selectedgriditem property to retrieve a custom propertydescriptor and set the value, but this requires a grid item to already be selected before starting the drag/drop operation. Has anyone had any luck with implementing this? Thanks :-)

• Is php fileinfo sufficient to prevent upload of malicious files?

  Hey guys, I have searched around a bit, and have not really found a professional type response to how to have secure fileupload capability so I wanted to get the opinion of some of the experts on this site. I am currently allowing upload of mp3s and images, and while I am pretty confident in preventing xss and injection attacks on my site, I am not really familiar with fileupload security. I basically just use php fileinfo and check an array of accepted filetypes against the filetype. For images, there is the getimagesize function and some additional checks. As far as storing them, I just have a folder within my directory, because I want the users to be able to use the files. If anyone could give me some tips I would really appreciate it.

  I runned into a problem with my regular expressions, I'm using regular expressions for obtaining data from the string below: "# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #\r\n\r\n[Feedback]:hallo\r\n\r\n# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #\r\n\r\n" So far is got it working with: String sFeedback = Regex.Match(Message, @"\[Feedback\]\:(?<string>.*?)\r\n\r\t\n# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #").Groups[1].Value; This works except if the header is changed, therefore I want the regex to read from [feedback]: to the end of the string. (symbols, ascii, everything..) I tried: \[Feedback]:(?<string>.*?)$ Above regular expression does work in some regular expression builders online but in my c# code its not working and returns a empty string. can someone help me with this regular expression? thanks in advance

• C#: how to check and display the content of a folder?

  I'm not sure whether this topics has been disscussed before or not, but I'm not sure the exact word to search for it. What method/class should I use? The program has 3 buttons: 1) for folder browsing, 2) scan for the selected folder content, and 3) open the file. When user browse the selected folder*(1), user click scan button to scan from the first file until the last available files and listed it text box(2)* and from that user can decide whether to open the files or not*(3)*. • What parameters should I use in a Google Maps URL to go to a lat-lon?

  I would like to produce a url for Google Maps that goes to a specific latitude and longitude. Now, I generate a url such as this: http://maps.google.com/maps?z=11&t=k&q=58 41.881N 152 31.324W The resulting map comes up with a round "A" balloon pointer, which seems to point to the nearest named object, and a green arrow, which points to the lat-lon. Sometimes, as in this example, the "A" pointer is centered and is far enough away that you cannot see the pointer to the lat-lon. (Zoom out to see both pointers in this example. The "A" pointer is in the center of Alaska, while the lat-long pointer is on Kodiak Island.) Are there some parameters I can use in the Google Maps URL that will produce a single pointer to a designated lat-lon? (This loads in a separate window. It is not embedded.)

  Regular expressions have always been my pet peeves. Every time I think that I finally got it I have a new problem ! I want to catch url like this : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/99/104 http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla1/99 and eventually : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/product1/99/104/55/ after a lot of tries and errors I came up with this which seems to work with http://www.gskinner.com/RegExr/ but not in apache ^.*/boutique/([a-zA-Z-]*)(/?[a-zA-Z-]*)/?([0-9]*)/?([0-9]*)/?$ boutique.php?c1=$3&c2=$4 (I was only working with the first two url so far) MY apache rewrite log debug files are helpless : pass through /Users/iko/Sites/mysite/boutique.php I'm only interrested in getting the ids. • Is there any valid reason radians are used as the inputs to trig function in many modern languages?

  Is there any pressing reason trig functions should use radian inputs in modern programming languages? As far as I know radians are typically ugly to deal with except in three cases: (1) You want to compute an arc length and you know the angle of the arc and (2) You need to do symbolic calculus with trig functions (3) certain infinite series expansion look prettier if the input is in radians. None of these scenarios seem like a worthy justification for every programming language I am familiar with using radian inputs for Sin, Cos, Tangent, etc... The third one sounds good because it might mean one gets faster computations using radians (very slightly faster- the cost of one additional floating point multiplication ) , but I am dubious even of that because most commonly the developer had to take an extra step to put the angle in radians in the first place. The other two are ridiculous justifications for all the added obscurity.

• Rewrite content served by apache

  Hi guys, I have an internal app (Jira) that i want to use internally and externally, now there might be another way of doing this in which case i'm open to it, but this is what i have so far: URL one: https://domainname.com/jira - external domain name for it URL two: https://domainname.local/jira - internal network name for it. I am running Apache as a reverse proxy and I have this: <Location /jira> ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira </Location> Jira creates all of its links using a base url, which in this case is set to 'https://domainname.local/jira', so obviously when pages get served to the outside world they have .local on them. The question is, is there a way to have the content rewritten as it is served in order to change the .local addresses within the HTML to be the .com ones? Or am i being a retard and there is an easier way to solve this? Cheers for any help.... Andy

• Avoiding string copying in Lua

  Say I have a C program which wants to call a very simple Lua function with two strings (let's say two comma separated lists, returning true if the lists intersect at all, false if not). The obvious way to do this is to push them onto the stack with lua_pushstring, which works fine, however, from the doc it looks like lua_pushstring but makes a copy of the string for Lua to work with. That means that to cross over to the Lua function is going to require two string copies which I could avoid by rewriting the Lua function in C. Is there any way to arrange things so that the existing C strings could be reused on the Lua side for the sake of performance (or would the strcpy cost pale into insignificance anyway)? From my investigation so far (my first couple of hours looking seriously at Lua), lite userdata seems like the sort of thing I want, but in the form of a string.

  I often have a need to take a list of objects and group them into a Map based on a value contained in the object. Eg. take a list of Users and group by Country. • How to save bytes to an image and access it from Bottle

  I'm working on an API wrapper for Snapchat using Python and Bottle, but in order to return the file (retrieved by the Python script) I have to save the bytes (returned by Snapchat) to a .jpg file. I'm not quite sure how I will do this and still be able to access the file so that it can be returned.   I'm designing an hierarchical distributed system (every node has zero or more "master" nodes to which it propagates its current data). The data gets continuously updated and I'd like to guarantee that at least N nodes have almost-current data at any given time. I do not need complete consistency, only eventual consistency (t.i. for any time instant, the current snapshot of data should eventually appear on at least N nodes. It is tricky to define the term "current" here, but still). Nodes may fail and go back up at any moment, and there is no single "central" node. O overflowers!   Dear SOFers, I would like to cut a vector of values ranging 0-70 to x number of categories, and would like the upper limit of each category. So far, I have tried this using cut() and am trying to extract the limits from levels. I have a list of levels, from which I would like to extract the second number from each level. How can I extract the values between space and ] (which is the number I'm interested in)? I have: > levels(bins) [1] "(-0.07,6.94]" "(6.94,14]" "(14,21]" "(21,28]" "(28,35]" [6] "(35,42]" "(42,49]" "(49,56]" "(56,63.1]" "(63.1,70.1]" and would like to get: [1] 6.94 14 21 28 35 42 49 56 63.1 70.1 Or is there a better way of calculating the upper bounds of categories?

Use a fold, map, and take .. replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2] output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2] I've figure this out using List comprehension and recursion: replicate2 [] = [] replicate2 (n:nn) = take n(repeat n) ++ replicate2 nn but how would you use fold and map to do this? so far I have: replicate n = map (foldl1 (take n(repeat n)) n) n which is obviously wrong, but I think I am close.. so any help would be nice, THANKS!

• Changing The Underlying Background Color Of A Swing Window

  As discussed here, when resizing a Swing application in Vista (and Windows 7, which is what I'm using) you get a black background in the right/bottom corner while Swing's repaint catches up to the changes. Playing with other applications (Windows Explorer (Native), Firefox (C++?), and Eclipse (Java)) I notice that they all have this same problem - contrary to what the folks in the link above say - but they minimize the problem by having a grey fill color, which is far less visually jarring than the black that appears in Swing. I'm wondering if there's some way to change this so that Swing behaves like these other applications? I tried setting the background color of the JFrame, but to no avail.

  Hello, I'm performing a large number of INSERTS to a SQLite database. I'm using just one thread. I batch the writes to improve performance and have a bit of security in case of a crash. Basically I cache up a bunch of data in memory and then when I deem appropriate, I loop over all of that data and perform the INSERTS. At seemingly random intervals, though at far too great a rate to ignore or otherwise workaround this problem, I get unhandled SQLiteException: Database file is locked. This occurs when I attempt to commit the transaction. No errors seem to occur prior to then. This does not always happen. Sometimes the whole thing runs without a hitch. No reads are being performed on these files before the commits finish. I have the very latest SQLite binary. I'm compiling for .NET 2.0. I'm using VS 2008. The db is a local file. All of this activity is encapsulated within one thread / process. Virus protection is off (though I think that was only relevant if you were connecting over a network?). As per Scotsman's post I have implemented the following changes: Journal Mode set to Persist DB files stored in C:\Docs + Settings\ApplicationData via System.Windows.Forms.Application.AppData windows call No inner exception Witnessed on two distinct machines (albeit very similar hardware and software) Have been running Process Monitor - no extraneous processes are attaching themselves to the DB files - the problem is definitely in my code... Does anyone have any idea whats going on here? I know I just dropped a whole mess of code, but I've been trying to figure this out for way too long. My thanks to anyone who makes it to the end of this question! brian UPDATES: Thanks for the suggestions so far! I've implemented many of the suggested changes. I feel that we are getting closer to the answer...however... The code above technically works however it is non-deterministic! It is not guaranteed to do anything aside from spin in neutral forever. In practice it seems to work somewhere between the 1st and 10th iteration. If i batch my commits at a reasonable interval damage will be mitigated but I really do not want to leave things in this state... More suggestions welcome!

• How do you verify the correct data is in a data mart?

  I'm working on a data warehouse and I'm trying to figure out how to best verify that data from our data cleansing (normalized) database makes it into our data marts correctly. I've done some searches, but the results so far talk more about ensuring things like constraints are in place and that you need to do data validation during the ETL process (E.g. dates are valid, etc.). The dimensions were pretty easy as I could easily either leverage the primary key or write a very simple and verifiable query to get the data. The fact tables are more complex. Any thoughts? We're trying to make this very easy for a subject matter export to run a couple queries, see some data from both the data cleansing database and the data marts, and visually compare the two to ensure they are correct.

• How to access USB ports in java

  Hi I'm trying to write a java application that accesses the usb ports to some read and writes to a device connected through usb. The problem I face is that I don't know what exactly to use in java to do such a thing. I searched online a found something called jusb but all the post seem fairly old. Currently I'm using the RXTX libraries but I sometimes run into some sync error. When I use C# to do the equivalent it requires far less code and I don't face any of the same sync error. My question is there anything built into the latest version of the JRE I can use to access the usb ports that is just as easy as the equivalent C# code? Sorry if the question isn't too clear, I'm fairly noob with coding usb IO.

• What are the typical reasons Javascript developed on Firefox fails on IE?

  I developed some javascript enhanced pages that run fine on recent Firefox and Safari. I missed to check in Internet Explorer, and now I find the pages don't work on IE 6 and 7 (so far). The scripts are somehow not executed, the pages show as if javascript wasn't there, although some javascript is executed. I am using own libraries with dom manipulation, from YUI 2 I use YUI-Loader and the XML-Http-Request, and on one page I use "psupload", which depends on JQuery. I am installing Microsoft Script Editor from Office XP and will now debug. I will also write specific tests now. What are the typical failing points of IE? What direction I can keep my eyes open. • WPF UserControl Embedded Animation

  Hi all, I have a UserControl called Beetle.xaml which has animation makeing the legs move. So far so good. I added this to my Background.xaml page by decaring the xmlns and xaml as: xmlns:my="clr-namespace:Intellident.Liber8.GUI.Theme.Jungle" and <my:Beetle VerticalAlignment="Bottom" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="180,0,0,175"> <UserControl.RenderTransform> <MatrixTransform x:Name="trnBeetle" /> </UserControl.RenderTransform> </my:Beetle> However I get errors telling me that I can't declare my:Name as I'm in the wrong scope. I can't declare my:Name as this doesn't exist. How do I do this, I want to create a path animation on the beetle to make him walk around... Ta, Matt. EDIT: THought I'd point out that both Beetle.xaml and Background.xaml live in Intellident.Liber8.GUI.Theme.Jungle namescope.
