• How to implement the API/SPI Pattern in Java?

  I am creating a framework that exposes an API for developers to use: public interface MyAPI { public void doSomeStuff(); public int getWidgets(boolean hasRun); } All the developers should have to do is code their projects against these API methods. I also want them to be able to place different "drivers"/"API bindings" on the runtime classpath (the same way JDBC or SLF4J work) and have the API method calls (doSomeStuff(), etc.) operate on different 3rd party resources (files, servers, whatever). Thus the same code and API calls will map to operations on different resources depending on what driver/binding the runtime classpath sees (i.e. myapi-ftp, myapi-ssh, myapi-teleportation). How do I write (and package) an SPI that allows for such runtime binding, and then maps MyAPI calls to the correct (concrete) implementation? In other words, if myapi-ftp allows you to getWidgets(boolean) from an FTP server, how would I could this up (to make use of both the API and SPI)? Bonus points for concrete, working Java code example! Thanks in advance!

• How to get VC# to rebuild auto-generated .cs files?

  I imagine this question has been asked and answered, but I cannot find it. I wanted to make a simple GUI to interface to a windows 7 command. I usually use Wx, but since this was to be a windows-only thing, I decided to see if I could whip it out real fast using Visual C# 2010 Express, which I had never used before. Things started off just great. I created a form, put a few buttons and text boxes and such on it, and hit Debug. It came up and ran just like that. No muss, no fuss. So I then designed the form just the way I wanted it, renamed the controls from "Button1" and so forth to meaningful names. But now it's a mess. By clicking around, I discovered that VC# had auto-generated two files called Form1.cs and Form1.Designer.cs. The later contains the bindings between functions and the events generated from user-clicks etc., and the former contains no-op code for those functions, for me to complete. Problem is, the names are all still the original "Button1" and so forth, not the new ones, and the new controls I added after running the first time do not appear at all. I want it to regenerate all that stuff afresh from the finished form. How to?

• Looking for PyQt4 embeddable terminal widget

  I wrote an application that, among other things, launches some "backend" processes to do some stuff. These subprocesses are very likely to fail or have unexpected behavior since they have to operate in quite hard conditions, so I prefer to give full control over them to the operator. NOTE: I am running these processes using a subprocess module based class instead of QProcess to have some more control functionality over the running process. At the moment, I'm using a QPlainTextEdit widget to which I append standard output/error from the subprocess, plus some buttons to quickly send some common signals (INT, STOP, CONT, KILL, ..), but: In some cases it would be useful to send some input too. Although it could be done with a text input box, I would prefer using something more "professional" Of course, there is no direct way to interpret special control characters, such as color codes, cursor movement, etc.. I had to implement an auto-scroll management of the console, but it is not guaranteed 100% to work nicely (sometimes the scroll locking doesn't work as expected, etc.) So: does anyone know something I could use to accomplish these needs? I found qtermwidget but it seems more oriented on handling a shell process (and the Python bindings seems to let you run /bin/bash only) by itself than communicating with an already existing process I/O.

  We use tolua++ to generate Lua bindings for C++ classes. Assume I have a C++ class: class Foo { //Some methods in Foo, irrelevant to question. }; and a tolua .pkg file with the following contents class Foo { }; Consider the following function: void call_some_lua_function(lua_State* luaState) { Foo* myFoo = new Foo(); tolua_pushusertype(luaState, (void*)myFoo, "Foo"); //More code to actually call Lua, irrelevant to question. } Now, the actual question: tolua_pushusertype causes a segfault in Lua if the 3rd parameter does not correspond to a valid fully qualified string of a C++ class that was registered with a call to tolua_cclass. So, if parameter 3 where "Bar", we get a segfault. • Testing for optional node - Delphi XE

  What is the proper way to test for the existance of an optional node? A snipped of my XML is: <Antenna > <Mount Model="text" Manufacture="text"> <BirdBathMount/> </Mount> </Antenna> But it could also be: <Antenna > <Mount Model="text" Manufacture="text"> <AzEl/> </Mount> </Antenna> The child of Antenna could either be BirdBath or AzEl but not both... In Delphi XE I have tried: if (MountNode.ChildNodes.Nodes['AzEl'] <> unassigned then //Does not work if (MountNode.ChildNodes['BirdBathMount'].NodeValue <> null) then // Does not work if (MountNode.BirdBathMount.NodeValue <> null) then // Does not work I use XMLSpy to create the schema and the example XML and they parse correctly. • Bind data of interface properties only

  I am new in all the Entity Framework models and the data bindings. I created an interface and generated a model class from my Candidate table in the db. public interface ICandidate { String ID { get; set; } string Name { get; set; } string Mail { get; set; } } i created a partial class to the generated Candidate model so i will be able to implement the ICandidate interface without changing any generated code. public partial class Candidates : ICandidate { string ICandidate.ID { get { return this.PK; } set { _PK = value; } } string ICandidate.Name { get{ return this._Name; } set { _Name = value; } } string ICandidate.Mail { get { return this._Email; } set { this._Email = value; } } } Of course, the generated class has more properties than the interface has (Like IsDeleted field that is not necessary for the interface). I want to display in a DataGridView all the candidates from the db. But I want that only the interface's properties will be shown as columns in the DataGridView. Is there a way bind only the interface's properties the the DataGridView? In my DB there is a table called Candidate_To_Company with these columns: PK, Candidate_FK, Company_FK, Insertion_Date I would like to bind this table to DataGridView. but instead of displaying Candidate_FK i would like to display the candidate name from ICandidate. Is this possible?

  Hi guy, I would like to update my php 5 in my server. At this moment, I use php 5.2.0 so I want to update it to php 5.2.4 (not php 5.3). • Nameserver not resolving or domain not pingable [closed]

  Sorry, if anyone can think of a better title please change it! I want to host my own websites from home. For testing purposes, I have a virtual machine running a trial version of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise. Note I currently run a VPS and host my own websites but due to a nice speed upgrade on our line I now want to host from home. I have several domains but I wanted to test with one, that is rickyoleary.com. Our ISP does not provide static IP addresses unless we have a business account so I've been looking at no-ip.com. I admit my networking isn't the best, hence this question but I've been bashing my head all day on this one. I created a host name, muffinbubble.no-ip.org which runs on IP: 86.148.124.15. I've setup IIS on the server with a simple test page. I've then forwarded port 80 traffic from the router and from what I can see, it's working. If I access my website (I was unable to link to this for some reason so please copy and paste this) - http://86.148.124.15/ - I see my test page. So the next step was to create my nameservers. This domain is with namecheap.com so I created my nameservers, ns1.rickyoleary.com and ns2.rickyoleary.com. Both these point to the same IP (and yes, that will be changed after testing), the same IP as above: 86.148.124.15. On the server itself I have set up DNS entries as below which I believe to be correct and added rickyoleary.com and www.rickyoleary.com in the host headers (or bindings) in IIS 7.0. If I try and look up my domain, rickyoleary.com it shows ns1.rickyoleary.com and ns2.rickyoleary.com as the nameservers. I then tried to use just-ping.com on my nameserver ns1.rickyoleary.com. I get 100% packets lost, but the correct IP address is returned (I'm guessing the router does not allow pings, but is still accessible...). I get no response when pinging rickyoleary.com. Here's the problems: I cannot ping ns1.rickyoleary.com or ns2.rickyoleary.com from a command prompt. I'm not sure if this is an issue. When I added the nameservers in Windows Server 2008 and clicked 'resolve' a message box displays stating "No such host is known". I cannot ping rickyoleary.com. rickyoleary.com is not showing my test page on my server. Now - please note, I've waited around 6 hours for propagation. From my experience, although you're told to wait 24 - 48 hours, the changes are normally pretty quick so perhaps I'm being impatient or naive to think it should all be working fine until then. I would really appreciate some help here. Thanks.

  Is anyone aware of an org-sort function / modification that can refile / organize a group of TODO so that it sorts them by three (3) criteria: first sort by due date, second sort by priority, and third sort by by title of the task? EDIT: I believe that org-sort by deadline (?d) has a bug that cannot properly handle undated tasks. I am working on a workaround (i.e., moving the undated todo to a different heading before the deadline (?d) sort occurs), but perhaps the best thing to do would be to try and fix the original sorting function. • Cisco ASA: How to route PPPoE-assigned subnet?

  We've just received a fiber uplink, and I'm trying to configure our Cisco ASA 5505 to properly use it. The provider requires us to connect via PPPoE, and I managed to configure the ASA as a PPPoE client and establish a connection. The ASA is assigned an IP address by PPPoE, and I can ping out from the ASA to the internet, but I should have access to an entire /28 subnet. I can't figure out how to get that subnet configured on the ASA, so that I can route or NAT the available public addresses to various internal hosts. My assigned range is: 188.xx.xx.176/28 The address I get via PPPoE is 188.xx.xx.177/32, which according to our provider is our Default Gateway address. They claim the subnet is correctly routed to us on their side. How does the ASA know which range it is responsible for on the Fiber interface? How do I use the addresses from my range? To clarify my config; The ASA is currently configured to default-route to our ADSL uplink on port Ethernet0/0 (interface vlan2, nicknamed Outside). The fiber is connected to port Ethernet0/2 (interface vlan50, nicknamed Fiber) so I can configure and test it before making it the default route. Once I'm clear on how to set it all up, I'll fully replace the Outside interface with Fiber. • Apache + Codeigniter + New Server + Unexpected Errors

  Alright here is the situation: I use to have my codeigniter site at bluehost were I did not have root access, I have since moved that site to rackspace. I have not changed any of the PHP code yet there has been some unexpected behavior. Unexpected Behavior: http://mysite.com/robots.txt Both old and new resolve to the robots file http://mysite.com/robots.txt/ The old bluehost setup resolves to my codeigniter 404 error page. The rackspace config resolves to: Not Found The requested URL /robots.txt/ was not found on this server. **This instance leads me to believe that there could be a problem with my mod rewrites or lack there of. The first one produces the error correctly through php while it seems the second senario lets the server handle this error. The next instance of this problem is even more troubling: 'http://mysite.com/search/term/9 x 1-1%2F2 white/' New site results in: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Old site results in: The actual page being loaded and the search term being unencoded. I have to assume that this has something to do with the fact that when I went to the new server I went from root level htaccess file to httpd.conf file and virtual server default and default-ssl. • Intermittently, IIS7 requests get stuck in WindowsAuthenticationModule

  Hi, We're running an IIS7 server hosting several dozen websites. Several of these websites are all part of the same legacy app we've developed. These sites all run the same code and run in the same app pool. Roughly once a month over the past few months, we've found that all requests for this app pool start hanging indefinitely. When this happens, we receive an alert and we recycle the app pool. After that, the sites start working again. This only ever affects this one app pool - never any others on the same server. A couple times, before recycling the pool, I've looked at the currently-executing requests in the worker process. They all show up as executing inside the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Which is strange, because the vast majority of the application does not require authentication. There is a small admin section which uses Windows auth... but all the other requests should be anonymous. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this? There are several unusual things about the way these sites are set up. As I mentioned, they all run the same code - multiple sites point at the same physical directory. The only difference is the host header bindings. I'm not sure why there isn't just one site with all the host headers, but that's how it works. In several of these sites, the same physical directory is mapped at two levels - as the root of the site and again as an application within the site. So if a user goes to http://oursite.com/index.aspx, that maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. If a user goes to http://oursite.com/foo/index.aspx, that also maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. I think there is code which looks at the request URL and handles the two requests differently. This is strange because the same web.config ends up being interpreted as a site config file, and also as an application config file within the site. I don't know if this might be related to the authentication problem. If we can't find the cause, we're thinking of a few workarounds we could try: Move the admin section into a separate site, and give the client a new admin URL. Run that separate site in its own app pool. Then in the web.config shared by all the other sites, remove the WindowsAuthenticationModule.   Basically, what I need is super similar to the unanswered cisco forum question below: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3139749#3139749 I have a Cisco 850 Series router. I have configured a DHCP pool for the 10.0.0.0/24 network. I have excluded 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.99 from the DHCP pool. I want to add a static DHCP pool for stuff and I want DHCP to statically assign them the addresses of my choice below 100. Actually, I don't care what addresses I statically assign. They can be anything in the pool for all I care, I just want it to work. Why are you doing this? Just statically assign the IPs on the devices! I don't want to do this because I have some laptop users. They could obviously only use that static IP here. This isn't a problem if they could be bothered to change any location setting or something. They can't. So it HAS to be DHCP. It also has to be static IPs because I need to forward ports to them. I know, I know, this is weird but it's an apartment LAN/WLAN so this isn't exactly a typical use case. • Intermittently, IIS7 requests get stuck in WindowsAuthenticationModule

  We're running an IIS7 server hosting several dozen websites. Several of these websites are all part of the same legacy app we've developed. These sites all run the same code and run in the same app pool. Roughly once a month over the past few months, we've found that all requests for this app pool start hanging indefinitely. When this happens, we receive an alert and we recycle the app pool. After that, the sites start working again. This only ever affects this one app pool - never any others on the same server. A couple times, before recycling the pool, I've looked at the currently-executing requests in the worker process. They all show up as executing inside the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Which is strange, because the vast majority of the application does not require authentication. There is a small admin section which uses Windows auth... but all the other requests should be anonymous. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this? There are several unusual things about the way these sites are set up. As I mentioned, they all run the same code - multiple sites point at the same physical directory. The only difference is the host header bindings. I'm not sure why there isn't just one site with all the host headers, but that's how it works. In several of these sites, the same physical directory is mapped at two levels - as the root of the site and again as an application within the site. So if a user goes to http://oursite.com/index.aspx, that maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. If a user goes to http://oursite.com/foo/index.aspx, that also maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. I think there is code which looks at the request URL and handles the two requests differently. This is strange because the same web.config ends up being interpreted as a site config file, and also as an application config file within the site. I don't know if this might be related to the authentication problem. If we can't find the cause, we're thinking of a few workarounds we could try: Move the admin section into a separate site, and give the client a new admin URL. Run that separate site in its own app pool. Then in the web.config shared by all the other sites, remove the WindowsAuthenticationModule. That way there should be no possibility of a hang within the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Try running all these sites in the classic pipeline instead of the integrated pipeline. • WPF ToggleButton changing image depending on state

  I would like to use ToggleButton in following way: There are 5 different images and each of them should be displayed depending on current state: button disabled button enabled, unchecked button enabled, unchecked, pointed by mouse cursor button enabled, checked button enabled, checked, pointed by mouse cursor I've found a simple example with two images on http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/28c36bd2-2ef7-4232-9976-2a0967140e32 , but how to change the image depending on "checked" property? The second question: how can I avoid creating different styles for each button in my application? I'm using about 20 different buttons and each of them has different set of icons. So far I'm using only one icon, below my code. • WPF - ListView within listView Scrollbar problem

  So I currently have a ListView "List A" who's items each have an expander control which contains another ListView "List B". The problem I am having is that sometimes List B grows so big that it extends beyond the range of List A's view area. List A's scroll bars do not pick up the fact that parts of List B are not being displayed. Is there a way to setup my xaml so that the scroll bars for List A will detect when the list inside the expander is longer then the viewing area of List A. • CodeIgniter: Passing variables via URL - alternatives to using GET

  I'm new to CodeIgniter and have just discovered the difficulties using the GET method of passing variables via the URL (e.g. domain.com/page.php?var1=1&var2=2). I gather that one approach is to pass the variables in the URI segments but haven't quite figured out how to do that yet as it seems to create the expectation of having a function in the controller named as the specific URI segment???? Anyway Instead of using GET I've decided to use POST by adapting a submit button (disguised as a link) with the variables in hidden input fields. I've created the following solution which seems to work fine, but am wondering whether I'm on the right track here or whether there is an easier way of passing variables via a link within CodeIgniter?   I'm trying to call a third party webservice using WSE 3.0 as a client in Visual Studio 2005. The call works fine and I can see that I get a good response (I have tracing enabled), but apparently the xml parser chokes over it. I always get an InvalidOperationException: There is en error in the XML document. with an InnerException: The specified type was not recognized: name='Map', namespace='http://xml.apache.org/xml-soap', at <bevoegdheid xmlns=''>. • Oauth for Google API example using Python / Django

  Hi, I am trying to get Oauth working with the Google API using Python. I have tried different oauth libraries such as oauth, oauth2 and djanog-oauth but I cannot get it to work (including the provided examples). For debugging Oauth I use Google's Oauth Playground and I have studied the API and the Oauth documentation With some libraries I am struggling with getting a right signature, with other libraries I am struggling with converting the request token to an authorized token. What would really help me if someone can show me a working example for the Google API using one of the above-mentioned libraries. EDIT: My initial question did not lead to any answers so I have added my code. There are two possible causes of this code not working: 1) Google does not authorize my request token, but not quite sure how to detect this 2) THe signature for the access token is invalid but then I would like to know which oauth parameters Google is expecting as I am able to generate a proper signature in the first phase.   Hi! I'm looking to translate this SQL statement to a well working & performant LINQ command. I've managed to have the first count working using the grouping count and key members, but don't know how to get the second count. select main.title, count(details.id) as details, count(messages.id) as messages from main left outer join details on main.id = details.mainid left outer join messages on details.id = messages.detailid group by main.title Any advice is welcome!
