• Module based web project directory layout with git and symlinks

  I am planning my directory structure for a linux/apache/php web project like this: Only www.example.com/webroot/ will be exposed in apache www.example.com/ webroot/ index.php module1/ module2/ modules/ module1/ module1.class.php module1.js module2/ module2.class.php module2.css lib/ lib1/ lib1.class.php the modules/ and lib/ directory will only be in the php path. To make the css and js files visible in the webroot directory I am planning to use symlinks. webroot/ index.php module1/ module1.js (symlinked) module2/ module2.css (symlinked) I tried following these principles: layout by modules and libraries, not by file type and not by "public' or 'non public', index.php is an exception. This is for easier development. symlinking files that need to be public for the modules and libs to a public location, but still mirroring the layout. So the module structure is also visible in the resulting html code in the links, which might help development. How will git handle the symlinking of the single files correctly, is there something to consider? When it comes to images I will need to link directories, how to handle that with git? modules/ module3/ module3.class.php img/ img1.jpg img2.jpg img3.jpg They should be linked here: webroot/ module3/ img/ (symlinked ?) So this is a git and symlink question. But I would be interested to hear comments about the php layout, maybe you want to use the comment function for this.

• Can't connect to MySql database from server using Devart

  Hello, I'm having trouble connecting to a MySql database from a server. I'm using Devart to connect, and I'm not sure if I need to do something more than to simply reference the dlls. When I started working on this project it was referencing the CoreLabs dlls, which if I've understood is the previous name for Devart. That didn't work, so I downloaded the new Devart dlls instead. It works on my local machine, but when uploading to the server it crashes. • Application crashing on getting updated information from database using timer and storing it on loca

  In our multi - user application we are continuously interacting with database. We have a common class through which we are sending POST queries to database and obtaining xml files in return. We are using delegates of NSXMLParser to parse the obtained file. The problem with us is we are facing many crashes in it generally when application is idle and changed data in database is being fetched in background through timer which is invoked after every few seconds. We have also dealt with error handling through try and catch but it proves to be of no use in this case and mostly application crashes with following error : Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000020 Strange thing is that many times the fetching of updated data at background works very fine, same methods being successfully executed under similar conditions but suddenly it crashes on one of them. • Monitoring all events in a class and sub-classes

  Hi, I wonder if someone can help me. I've got a console App which I use to debug various components as I develop them. I'd like to be able to log to the console every time an event is fired either in the object I've instantiated or in anything it's instantiated [ad infinitum]. I wouldn't see some of these events normally due to them being consumed further down the chain). Ideally I would be able to log all public and private events but if only public are possible, I can live with that. I've Googled and all I can find is how to monitor a directory - So I'm not sure if this is not possible or simply has a name that I don't know. The sort of information I'm after is similar to what's found in an exception - Target Site, Source, Stack Trace, etc... Could I perhaps do this through reflection somehow? If someone could tell me if this is even possible and perhaps point me at some good resources, I'd be very grateful. • spring 3 uploadify giving 404 Error

  I am using Spring 3 and implementing Uploadify. The problem is, the files are updating properly but it is giving HTTP Error 404, on completion of file upload. I tried every possible solution, but none of them works. The files are uploaded. Values are storing in DB properly, only that i am getting HTTP Error 404. Any help is appreciated and Thanks in advance. • Complete failure to compile when include CSS Friendly Adapters

  Background - I am trying to use the friendly adapters to override the default styling for the standard asp.net menu control that is used by an existing project. The existing project functions normally and compiles when requested without incident. Adding in the code for the for the CSS Friendly adapter and not only does it not compile, but it never even really starts. The Problem in Detail - I am using the sample code from Scott on this page: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/09/08/CSS-Control-Adapter-Toolkit-Update.aspx. The sample project compiles fine, just within the existing project does it fail. Fails without a line number or any other traceable info. It definately appears to be related to the CSSMenuAdapter.browser file, which has been referenced by others online as the cause of similar error. I have tried addind and readding, using as a dll, using as a code file in app code, etc. I am working with aspdotnetstorefront in this case, although it is not unique to them as I have found other references in software packages online. Only thing is, no one ever says what solved the issue. I am using Windows 7, VS2008 Express and SQL Express 2008 R2. The full error msg is: Error 10 Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. Notice that there is no file, line, or column info. Really need some help here. I have been working on this a long time. This really should have tag: cssfriendlyadapter but I could not create that.

• Java Polynomial Multiplication with ArrayList

  I am having a problem with one of my methods in my program. The method is designed to take 2 arraylists and the perform multiplication between the two like a polynomial. For example, if I was to say list1={3,2,1} and list2={5,6,7}; I am trying to get a return value of 15,28,38,20,7. However, all I can get is an error message that says: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0. • Deploying a Java application. How?

  I am new to Java (and Eclipse) but I have used .NET (and Visual Studio) a fair amount. I also know about compiling C/C++ code and things like that. I know that at the end I get either an EXE or a nice binary file that can be run from the command line. I have been making a Java utility that uses some external libraries. I need to compile this into an executable that I can run from the command line on a unix machine, but I cannot find any way to do this. I can build and run/debug in Eclipse, but that is no use to me as this code will be run on a webserver. I just need all the dependancies compiled in to one file but after hours of searching on Google, the best thing I could find was the Fat-JAR plugin for Eclipse and after using that I just get the following error when I try to run the file: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Network/jar This is really confusing me and as it is such an essential thing to be able to do I am sure I must be missing something blindingly obvious, but as I said, after hours of searching I have gotten nowhere. • Java problem with multiple threads when executing a runnable jar file

  I have developed a Java Swing application, which uses the SwingWorker class to perform some long running tasks. When the application is run from the IDE (Netbeans), I can start multiple long running tasks simultaneously without any problem. I created a runnable jar file for the application, in order to be able to run it from outside the IDE. The application when run from this jar file works well with the only exception that it doesn't allow me to start 2 long running tasks simultaneously. When I start the first task (assume it takes 2 minitues to complete), every thing works fine, the UI does not freeze (it never freezes). However, when I try to run another task (assume it takes just 10 seconds, therefore it should finish before the first task) while the first task has not yet completed, nothing seems to happen. In reality, the second task would have started, and also finished its processing, however its results are only displayed once the first task completes. I dunno why this is happening. Is there some restriction on the number of threads which could run simultaneously on the JVM? Are there any jvm arguments which i could try to solve this problem. I hope i explained my problem well.   My web server is deployed in IIS 6. The web server starts the Remote Registry service in the remote machine successfully by creating a process to run some remote operation commands. This first line runs successfully. But the second line returns null. #1 RegistryKey remoteRegKey = RegistryKey.OpenRemoteBaseKey(RegistryHive.LocalMachine, "139.24.185.27"); #2 RegistryKey targetKey = remoteRegKey.OpenSubKey(@"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\XXXX\XXXX\Config\Modality", true); I tried to find the reason from MSDN. It tells only one case it would return null. The case is when the subkey does not exist. If it has not enough permission, it will throw exception. But the subkey really exists. I change another machine to debug my code with Visual Studio 2008. It can run two lines successfully. If it has enough permission, it should not only can open the LocalMachine, but also can open any of its subkeys. I am quite confusing about this.

  I'm using Rhino.Mocks for testing the system. I'm going to check the order of calling .LoadConfig and .Backup methods. I need .LoadConfig to be the first. The expected call is: 'Ordered: { IConfigLoader.LoadConfig(null); }' but was: 'IIdentification.get_Name();' Is there a way to deal with this? Thanks

• iPhone: Creating a hierarchy-based table navigation.

  Hi there, I've tried to ask this before, but nothing got answered. Basically, I would like someone to explain to me how to create a table, which when a cell is tapped, pushes the user to the next view for that cell. I have this so far: Click here to view what I have. I would further like to, say when CSS is tapped, it goes to a new view which has another table in it. This table would then take the user to a detail view, which is scrollable and you can switch pages through it. I would appreciate longer, more structured tutorials on how to do each and every bit to get it to work. • MVC: model of type Nullable<T>

  I have a partial view that inherits from ViewUserControl<Guid?> - i.e. it's model is of type Nullable<Guid>. Very simple view, nothing special, but that's not the point. Somewhere else, I do Html.RenderPartial( "MyView", someGuid ), where someGuid is of type Nullable<Guid>. Everything's perfectly legal, should work OK, right? But here's the gotcha: the second argument of Html.RenderPartial is of type object, and therefore, Nullable<Guid> being a value type, it must be boxed. But nullable types are somehow special in the CLR, so that when you box one of those, you actually get either a boxed value of type T (Nullable's argument), or a null if the nullable didn't have a value to begin with. And that last case is actually interesting. Turns out, sometimes, I do have a situation when someGuid.HasValue == false. And in those cases, I effectively get a call Html.RenderPartial( "MyView", null ). And what does the HtmlHelper do when the model is null? Believe it or not, it just goes ahead and takes the parent view's model. Regardless of it's type. So, naturally, in those cases, I get an exception saying: "The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'Parent.View.Model.Type', but this dictionary requires a model item of type 'System.Guid?'" So the question is: how do I make MVC correctly pass new Nullable<Guid> { HasValue = false } instead of trying to grab the parent's model? Note: I did consider wrapping my Guid? in an object of another type, specifically created for this occasion, but this seems completely ridiculous. Don't want to do that as long as there's another way. Note 2: now that I've wrote all this, I've realized that the question may be reduced to how to pass a null for model without ending up with parent's model?

  I am having a problem where in the started Intent, the findViewById returns null. Is there anything special I should know about starting a new intent?   Hi, I am currently building a dynamic url tab system that user can say what urls they want to be displayed on a tabpage control. In the database i have the following columns. userID, int URLName var Enabled bit I am pulling the data back ok but what i am trying do is populate a checkbox list with the urlname and its status on a user options page so they can say what tabs they want displayed. I have wrote the following methods to get the urls and create the checkboxes however i keep getting the following error. ex = {"InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.\r\nParameter name: index"} It reads the first row ok but when it hits the 2nd row that is being returned i get that error. Has anyone got any ideas?
