  • Why is it safe to use copy & paste in Flash but not in Javascript?

    I'm trying to use copy'n paste in one of my web apps and have read a few articles/SO questions about it. Most people say that using Flash is the only option since most browsers don't allow access to the system clipboard because of security concerns. I can understand this but I wonder why it is okay for Flash do this, but not for the browser. Or has it got nothing to do with security and it is simply to complicated to implement this for cross-platform browser vendors?

    I want to allow users add files to the application document folder, so I used the iTunes file sharing. The problem is they can only add single files with a flat structure. I want to drag and drop whole folder (even with sub folders) and keep the structure. Questions I have: is it possible with iTunes file sharing? if not, is there an open source project that helps me with writing a pc side app that talks to the iPhone side app and pushes the files into it?

    I know a site can have many apps but all the examples I see have the site called "mysite". I figured the site would be the name of your site, like StackOverflow for example. Would you do that and then have apps like "authentication", "questions", and "search"? Or would you really just have a site called mysite with one app called StackOverflow?

    I notice in the default MVC template project that the Account registration fields are highlighted via a class change. I can't seem to get the same behavour out of my own code (in the same project - same CSS etc) What might be stopping this from occuring? Update I believe this relates to one of my other questions Because I was having trouble with NullReferenceExceptions I have changed the Html.ValidationMessage fields to have different names than the target fields. So really, I need to resolve this question

How can I get rid of them?

    Does anybody know the VB or C# code to programmatically download a video from YouTube? I have gone through all related questions on this site and the only code I have found (which uses the WebClient Class webclient.DownloadFileAsync) returns the text source of the video, but not the Flash video (.flv) file that needs to be downloaded? Do you know any SDK or library which can help? I have also downloaded the GoogleAPI (YouTube DLL) but have not found a way of doing it.

I couldn't help to wonder in my ignorance and ask myself (and now to you): Why are missing headers not automatically checked and added or requested to the programmer? Such feature is available for Java in Netbeans for example.

    Hi, I've taken over an existing Drupal installation and have been asked to remove a single page from the site search results. I know about the lullabot tutorial through this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1748837/hide-drupal-nodes-from-search, but that talks about excluding a class of content when I really just want to exclude a single page. I've tried manually deleting the node from the search_index table, but that didn't seem to work either. Any recommendations for excluding a single regular content page from the search index?

    I'm creating a ASP.NET MVC 2 application that envolve a section like questions here in stackoverflow (mine is with exams is another kind of application but can be extrapolate to same general idea of SO). OK I'm creating a cache per page, its mean something like this: [OutputCache(Duration=60, VaryByParam="page")] ActionResult AllQuestions(int page){...} But i want to invalidate that cache when a new question is created.     Hi, i want to get the domain extention (at least i hope it is called this way) from the site name the user is currently on. so from www.bbc.co.uk it's co.uk and www.google.com = .com http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask = .com etc. especially the ones with the double name (like co.uk) gives me headaches.... EDIT as i understand from the comments, co.uk is not a top level domain? that makes life easier! EDIT new name (top level domain) in the title
