  • How to add reference an assembly that is not in the GAC from a t4mvc template (.tt)

    I have found the place near the very top in a T4MVC template file (.tt) where assembly references can be added, which looks like: <#@ assembly name="System.Core" #> <#@ import namespace="System.Collections.Generic" #> However, it seems that I can only reference assemblies that are in the GAC. i.e. if I have an assembly MyProject.Stuff.dll (not in the GAC) added as a reference to the VS project containing the template then I expected to be able to add something like the following: <#@ assembly name="MyProject.Stuff" #> <#@ import namespace="MyProject.Stuff" #> If I do this then I get the following error: Error 1 Compiling transformation: Metadata file 'MyProject.Stuff' could not be found C:\Work\Development\DotNetSolution\MyProject\Utils\T4MVC\T4MVC.tt 1 1 How can I add a reference to an assembly that isn't in the GAC?

    I've created a Template class for managing views and their associated data. It implements Iterator and ArrayAccess, and permits "sub-templates" for easy usage like so: <p><?php echo $template['foo']; ?></p> <?php foreach($template->post as $post): ?> <p><?php echo $post['bar']; ?></p> <?php endforeach; ?> Anyways, rather than using inline core functions, such as hash() or date(), I figured it would be useful to create a class called TemplateData, which would act as a wrapper for any data stored in the templates. This way, I can add a list of common methods for formatting, for example: echo $template['foo']->asCase('upper'); echo $template['bar']->asDate('H:i:s'); //etc.. When a value is set via $template['foo'] = 'bar'; in the controllers, the value of 'bar' is stored in it's own TemplateData object. I've used the magic __toString() so when you echo a TemplateData object, it casts to (string) and dumps it's value. However, despite the mantra controllers and views should not modify data, whenever I do something like this: $template['foo'] = 1; echo $template['foo'] + 1; //exception It dies on a Object of class TemplateData could not be converted to int; Unless I recast $template['foo'] to a string: echo ((string) $template['foo']) + 1; //outputs 2 Sort of defeats the purpose having to jump through that hoop. Are there any workarounds for this sort of behavior that exist, or should I just take this as it is, an incidental prevention of data modification in views?

  • How to limit number of displayed items in html.dropdownlist?

    I have a html.dropdownlist on my webpage as follows: <%=Html.DropDownList("MyDropDown", Model.Data, new { @class = "dropdown"})%> I am populating the dropdown with ~80 items. The issue is that when I click the dropdown the list of items is rendered from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. How can I set up the dropdownlist so that it only displays a maximum of 20 items when the dropdown menu is clicked (i.e. user needs to scroll down to see items 21 - 80)? I was anticipating (!) that there would be a html.dropdownlist property to control the number of displayed items that would allow something like the following e.g.: <% =Html.DropDownList("MyDropDown", Model.Data, new { @class = "dropdown", rows ="20"}) %> From research I have been doing on the msdn website it appears that there is no such property and that each browser has its own rules of how many items are displayed in a dropdownlist (?). I am using IE6 and IE7.

  • What regular expression(s) would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

    Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points.     I need some assistance converting an xml document to a CSV file using an xslt stylesheet. I am trying to use the following xsl and I can't seem to get it right. I want my comma delimited file to include column headings, followed by the data. My biggest issues are removing the final comma after the last item and inserting a carriage return so each group of data appears on a separate line.     {exp:weblog:entries [args]} [content] {embed="path/to/sub-template" [args]} {/exp:weblog:entries} The sub-template only renders for the first entry, and the {embed} template tag is swallowed for all subsequent entries. Is there a way to make it render the sub-template for each iteration? Edit: stranger yet, if caching is enabled for the sub-template, it renders for each iteration—but, of course, the arguments on the embed tag aren't passed to subsequent iterations, as the sub-template is cached.

  • Why browser doesnt recognize jquery when <script src="...jquery.js> is on a html page served by Goo

    jquery.js source code is not being recognised by browser using my page.html served by Google App Engine as a http:some_request to the SDK, BUT when I load the exact same page.html into the browser directly from my local hard drive as jquery.js all works OK, it is recognized, so I know my path is OK.... I don't understand? In the header of my page.html I have the following: <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I also tried without success in the header this: <script src="/static/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I am working along with the examples in the [Jquery tutorial][1]. I am sure there is something simple I dont understand about how .html pages served to the browser from app engine interact differently with the browser than what I normally would expect....but I frustratingly just cant get it.....everything else I have with my app engine app is working fine......would love some help so i can move forward....

I closed the .html file and text edit and refreshed the page. It still worked fine. Then i opened up the .html file in text edit again and all the text was gone (the page in the browser still works fine though). Where did all the text go?

    I noticed that Sinatra does not recognize index.html files in public folder's subdirectories and returns an error when url is pointing to a directory without specifiying the file name. For example, if user enters a url like "www.mydomain.com/subdiretory/", Sinatra fails to recognize the existence of an index.html file in that directory. There are hundreds of subdirectories in my public folder so that it is impossible to specify each one of them in code (and the number of subdirectories keeps growing). How can I tell Sinatra to leave my web server (Apache) alone (to server index.html file) if there is an index.html file in a subdirectory of public folder when url is pointing to that directory without the file name?

For example, this will save the rendered version of a single PHP file as HTML: php /path/to/my/file/filename.php > /path/to/my/file/test.html I need it to combine multiple files, but I can't seem to get it it to work.     I'm using Tangible's editor and (no offense guys) it sucks. Its one painful step above notepad. But its (afaik) the only game in town. Does anybody have any tips/tricks on creating T4 templates in a non-painful way? For instance, I'm thinking about creating a T4 Template that essentially turns a class defined in a solution into a template generator. DTE, look for code that is marked with this or that attribute, run this or that method, and drop the results into a file. At least I'd get legit intellisense out of the deal...

    Is it possible to write a C++ template that changes behavior depending on if a certain member function is defined on a class? Here's a simple example of what I would want to write: template<class T> std::string optionalToString(T* obj) { if (FUNCTION_EXISTS(T->toString)) return obj->toString(); else return "toString not defined"; } So if class T has "toString" defined then it uses it, otherwise it doesn't. The magical part that I don't know how to do is the "FUNCTION_EXISTS" part.

  • TFS 2010 build template failing to open in designer - how to fix?

    I can open the DefaultTemplate.xaml that was installed as part of our TFS 2010 RC setup. I created a copy of this template called ApplicationTemplate.xaml and modified it slightly, using the workflow designer in Visual Studio. Now, I can no longer open ApplicationTemplate.xaml. When I try, I receive many errors like the following: Error 2 Assembly 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference. Also, verify that your project and all referenced assemblies have been built. C:\Projects\tfs\Hydraulics\BuildProcessTemplates\ApplicationTemplate.xaml 1 1828 Miscellaneous Files However, I can still open and edit the DefaultTemplate.xaml file without any issues. Has anyone else come across this problem, & if so, did you manage to resolve it or did you have to recreate the template?
