• How to get global access to enum types in C#?

  This is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to do it. I want to set up some enums in one class like this: public enum Direction { north, east, south, west }; Then have that enum type accessible to all classes so that some other class could for instance have: Direction dir = north; and be able to pass the enum type between classes: public void changeDirection(Direction direction) { dir = direction; } I thought that setting the enum to public would make this automatically possible, but it doesn't seem to be visible outside of the class I declared the enum in.

The class works perfectly, I've tested it directly under a view.. I've implemented the thumbnail class inside the save method of the forms to resize the original images on saving. in my design, I have two fields for thumbnails. I was able to generate one thumbnail, if I try to generate two it crashes and I've been stuck for hours not sure whats the problem.   I'm making a little bot in C#. At the moment it works pretty well, it can load text from a file and type it for you. But for now, I need to manualy click the textfield to put the focus on it, remaximize my form and then click the Type-button. After the typing, I need to manualy slide the scorebar and press submit. I'd like to know how I can move my mouse with C# and if possible, if possible I'd like to load the mouse positions from a xml-file.   Hi all, we have developed/customized an internet site that provides functionalities like sharing, swap/barter, selling and rent any object/services trough public or private galleries and/or clubs. We'd like now to expose all or some of the services to the public, so that anybody can take advantage of our engine, but without spending too much as we rae running low on budget. At the moment we have developed some RSS interfaces for the public catalogs and is possible to use JQuery to query the engine. Do you have any advices on how to proceed here? We were thinking about something simple like framset, using openID like authentication, or similar technologies. Even if can be the coolest solution, we a would like to avoid the develop soap, rest or xmlrpc APIs as it takes a lot of time ( =money ) Do you have any super smart ideas?

  I like c#, but why can I do : public static bool Initialized { private set; get; } or this : public static bool Initialized = false; but not a mix of both in one line ? I just need to set access level to my variable (private set), and I need it set at false on startup. I wouldn't like to make that boring private _Initialized variable, which would be returned by the getter of the public Initialized var. I like my code to be beautiful. (NB: my variable is static, it can't be initialized in the constructor). Thanks

  Assume I have a regular compressed fixed width file that is sorted on one of the fields. Given that I know the length of the records, I can use lseek to implement a binary search to records with fields that match a given value without having to read the entire file. Now the difficulty is that the file is gzipped. Is it possible to do this without completely inflating the file? If not with gzip. is there any compression that supports this kind of behavior?

ArrayList<Class> typeList; and I have some input values; ArrayList<Object> values; How to cast some value to some type if I know which type from the typeList is the values; typeList.get(i).cast(values.get(i)); <- this is not working??? Actualy I generate dynamic form in runtime. With Java reflection I get parameterTypes from methods from some class, I generate form with input fields and then i want to cast the text from the input fields to specific types from the paramterTypes that I got with Java reflection from some class.

• I can't get areas working in VS2010

  I just upgraded from VS2010 RC to RTM. Now my areas aren't working. I have a Profile area with a Home controller and an Action method Index(). If I try: http://localhost:4951/profile I get a 404 error saying that the resource can't be found. If I try http://localhost:4951/profile/home I get the same error. However, if I try http://localhost:4951/profile/home/index then the view is returned.   In my database I have three tables: Users: UserID (Auto Numbering), UserName, UserPassword and a few other unimportant fields. PrivateMessages: MessageID (Auto Numbering), SenderID and a few other fields defining the message content. MessageStatus: MessageID, ReceiverID, MessageWasRead (Boolean) What I need is a query to which I input a user's id and I get all the private messages he has received. In addition, I also need to receive each message's sender UserName. For this I wrote the following query: SELECT Users.*, PrivateMessages.*, MessageStatus.* FROM PrivateMessages INNER JOIN Users ON PrivateMessages.SenderID = Users.UserID INNER JOIN MessageStatus ON PrivateMessages.MessageID = MessageStatus.MessageID WHERE MessageStatus.ReceiverID=[@userid]; But for some reason when I try saving it in my Access database, I get the following error (translated to English by me, since my office is in a different language): Syntax error (missing operator) at expression: "PrivateMessages.SenderID = Users.UserID INNER JOIN MessageStatus ON PrivateMessages.MessageID = MessageStatus.MessageI". As far as I know, Override won't let previous method to run, even if the pointer is pointing to them. So the first line should output Der2 as well. However Base came out. How is it possible? How the override didn't work there?

• How can I get around MySQL Errcode 13 with SELECT INTO OUTFILE?

  but I am trying to dump the contents of a table to a csv file using a MySQL SELECT INTO OUTFILE statement. If I do: SELECT column1, column2 INTO OUTFILE 'outfile.csv' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' FROM table_name; outfile.csv will be created on the server in the same directory this database's files are stored in. However, when I change my query to: SELECT column1, column2 INTO OUTFILE '/data/outfile.csv' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' FROM table_name; I get: ERROR 1 (HY000): Can't create/write to file '/data/outfile.csv' (Errcode: 13) Errcode 13 is a permissions error, even if I change ownership of /data to mysql:mysql and give it 777 permissions. MySQL is running as user "mysql". Strangely, I can create the file in /tmp, just not in any other directory I've tried, even with permissions set such that user mysql should be able to write to the directory. This is MySQL 5.0.75 running on Ubuntu.

• VPC SSH port forward into private subnet

  Ok, so I've been racking my brain for DAYS on this dilema. I have a VPC setup with a public subnet, and a private subnet. The NAT is in place of course. I can connect from SSH into a instance in the public subnet, as well as the NAT. I can even ssh connect to the private instance from the public instance. I changed the SSHD configuration on the private instance to accept both port 22 and an arbitrary port number 1300. That works fine. But I need to set it up so that I can connect to the private instance directly using the 1300 port number, ie. ssh -i keyfile.pem [email protected] -p 1300 and 1.2.3.4 should route it to the internal server 10.10.10.10. Now I heard iptables is the job for this, so I went ahead and researched and played around with some routing with that. These are the rules I have setup on the public instance (not the NAT). It just times out. No connection refused messages or anything. And I can't seem to find any log messages about dropped packets. My security groups and ACL settings allow communications on these ports in both directions in both subnets and on the NAT. I'm at a loss. What am I doing wrong?
