• How to store user-specific data in SharePoint

  I have some user-specific data that I need to store in SharePoint and make accessible to the user through custom webparts. Let's say a list of favorite URLs. What would be the most straightforward way to store this information? Some builtin propertybag for SPUser or similar that I'm not aware of. SPList, associated through User column. Custom database table, associated through SPUser ID. Otherwise? Sounds like a RTFM to me, but I'm probably asking google the wrong questions.

• How can I include .pdf files when I publish but not in a search and replace in visual studio?

  More specifically my problem is if I include a pdf in my project and set its build action to content so it gets copied to the server when I publish, is there a way to exclude it from visual studios search and replace feature. Would a post build action be a solution to this? I just don't want anybody to do a global search and replace in my project and mess up the pdfs... I know I just said a mouth full so let me know if you need clarification. Thanks!!!

• Standard Workflow when working with JPA

  I am currently trying to wrap my head around working with JPA. I can't help but feel like I am missing something or doing it the wrong way. It just seems forced so far. What I think I know so far is that their are couple of ways to work with JPA and tools to support this. You can do everything in Java using annotations, and let JPA (whatever implementation you decide to use) create your schema and update it when changes are made. You can use a tool to reverse engineer you database and generate the entity classes for you. When the schema is updated you have to regenerate these classes, or manually update them. There seems to be drawbacks to both, and benefits to both (as with all things). My question is in an ideal situation what is the standard workflow with JPA? Most schemas will require updates during the maintenance phase and especially during the development phase, so how is this handled?

  Hi, I have below click_log table logging hits for some urls site ip ua direction hit_time ----------------------------------------------------- 1 127.0.0.1 1 20010/01/01 00:00:00 2 127.0.0.1 1 20010/01/01 00:01:00 3 127.0.0.1 0 20010/01/01 00:10:00 .... ......... I want to select incoming hits (direction:1) and group by sites that are: from same ip and browser logged within 10 minutes of each other occured more than 4 times in 10 minutes. I'm not sure if above was clear enough. English is not my first language. Let me try to explain with an example. If site 1 gets 5 hits from same ip and browser with in 10 minutes after getting first unique hit from that ip and browser i want it to be included in the selection. Basically I am trying to find abusers.

• c++ std::map question about iterator order

  Hi all, I am a C++ newbie trying to use a map so I can get constant time lookups for the find() method. The problem is that when I use an iterator to go over the elements in the map, elements do not appear in the same order that they were placed in the map. Without maintaining another data structure, is there a way to achieve in order iteration while still retaining the constant time lookup ability? Please let me know.   Hi Stackers, What is the best way to access my models and forms from a controller of a module? Let's explain with "pictures": /application/module/storage/controllers/IndexController.php needs to call readAction in the class called storage_Model_Files in /application/module/storage/models/Files.php I've made this app's dir structure and these forms and models with zf.sh (Zend_Tool). I've read about all sorts of ways of manually including these files. I want to lazy load them much like everything is done automatically with the default module. I can't seem to find how in the docs. Does that make sense? I have: resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" in my application.ini file. So I can access my controllers fine. Thanks for your help!

• Console Utility that can remote connect to other systems and issue commands

  Hi Frequenlty my work involves to VNC to a remote system and work on it. SInce i run command line apps on this remote system most of the time, i was wondering if there's an alternative software to command prompt which i could install on my local machine. Using this i should be able to create a session with the remote system and from then on all commands issued in command prompt should run in remote system. localHostdir -- should list the directory contents in remotehost active directory localhostapp.exe should run app.exe in remote host and display its contents in localhost command prompt I browsed a little and read about cmdlets in powershell. But it looks like i need to write a cmdlet for each app in the path (dir, mkdir, app.exe in the path). Correct me if am wrong. Once session is established, i simply need the commands invoked in local host to be run in the remote host and return the console output to local host. Please let me know if powershell + cmdlets are the only way THanks

Design a function which create a copy of such list. can't also understand the list line !!!!!???

  Hi all. Consider the deletion procedure on a BST, when the node to delete has two children. Let's say i always replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree. The question is: is this procedure commutative? That is, deleting x and then y has the same result than deleting first y and then x? I think the answer is no, but i can't find a counterexample, nor figure out any valid reasoning. Thank you. EDIT: Maybe i've got to be clearer. Consider the transplant(node x, node y) procedure: it replace x with y (and its subtree). So, if i want to delete a node (say x) which has two children i replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree: y = minimum(x.right) transplant(y, y.right) // extracts the minimum (it doesn't have left child) y.right = x.right y.left = x.left transplant(x,y) The question was how to prove the procedure above is not commutative.

• Access the internal phonebook

  For more than two days now, I'm trying to grab a list of all contacts, from the internal phonebook (no facebook-, gmail- or twittercontacts) with their family- and givenname. I managed to get a list with all contacts, socialcontacts included. So I looked at the account_type and saw that on my HTC Desire they were all "com.htc.android.pcsc" and I was like "Great, I just have to filter the whole list". But then all people with non-htc android cellphones would be unable to use my app, if I would hardcode this filter. Next idea was to let the user choose which account he wants to use, but unfortunately the "com.htc.android.pcsc" didn't appear in the list I got from the AccountManager?!? So my question is: Is there any standardized way to access the internal phonebook? I'm really stuck with that and any hint is highly appreciated!

• C# Running several tasks at different intervals

  A design question: I'd like to build a Windows service that executes different commands at different intervals. For simplicity's sake, let's say I want to run some batch files. The input it gets is a list of files and the intervals at which to execute. For example: a.bat - 4 minutes b.bat - 1 minute c.bat - 1 minute d.bat - 2 minutes I was thinking about sorting them according to intervals, and then setting a timer for each of the intervals. I'm not sure this is the best solution and I'd be happy to hear some feedbacks. Thanks!

I think that generally this result is inpossible. please Let me know if you have any information about sound power on CoreAudio. thanks.

• Looking for Google Reader javscript commands for controlling events

  I've played in the /reader/ui/ code for a few hours now, and couldn't figure this out. Also, I didn't see any exact help when searching StackOverflow. This is really a JavaScript un-obfuscator question. I'm looking for a way to call the obfuscated Google Reader javascript commands... and am having trouble determining what actual function is called when the "Next Items" button is pressed or the spacebar is hit. I've tried using Firebug as well as FireEvents to track it down, but it's just too well hidden. Any ideas? Something that I could type into the URL bar and make it run, something like 'javascript:SH("entries-down", "click");void(0);' Thanks in advance! And, please let me know if it's against Google's terms of service to de-obfuscate their code to view these JavaScript commands.

• With the attachment_fu rails plugin, is there any way to delete files uploaded to Amazon S3?

  Let's say I'm using attachment_fu to attach profile pics to user profiles in a system, with Amazon S3 used as the actual file storage. When users upload new profile pics, I'd like to replace the attached file with the new one. I can do this within my database (i.e. the file metadata) easily, but attachment_fu doesn't seem to provide methods for deleting the files from S3. Am I missing something, or am I approaching this the wrong way? Many thanks!

• Should I have a separate copy of all CakePHP files for every new application?

  I'm extremely new to CakePHP. From what I've gathered, it seems like I can have multiple applications that all share the same app and cake directories. So, let's say I have two applications. CakeFacebookApp and GenericCakeBlog. These applications are completely separate from each other and will have completely separate URLs, but they will reside on the same webhost. Should they both be within the same cake structure, or should they each have a full cake install in separate directories? Technically, I'm sure it will work either way, but I guess I'm looking for a best practice approach. Thanks.

• Is this a valid benefit of using embedded SQL over stored procedures?

  Here's an argument for SPs that I haven't heard. Flamers, be gentle with the down tick, Since there is overhead associated with each trip to the database server, I would suggest that a POSSIBLE reason for placing your SQL in SPs over embedded code is that you are more insulated to change without taking a performance hit. For example. Let's say you need to perform Query A that returns a scalar integer. Then, later, the requirements change and you decide that it the results of the scalar is x that then, and only then, you need to perform another query. If you performed the first query in a SP, you could easily check the result of the first query and conditionally execute the 2nd SQL in the same SP. How would you do this efficiently in embedded SQL w/o perform a separate query or an unnecessary query? Here's an example: --This SP may return 1 or two queries. SELECT @CustCount = COUNT(*) FROM CUSTOMER IF @CustCount 10 SELECT * FROM PRODUCT Can this/what is the best way to do this in embedded SQL?

  Hey All Let me explain you the scenario upto now.. Been a newbie to Joomla I managed to build my own website using Joomla CMS in my computers localhost. Then after the completion of the site, I wanted to upload my Local Joomla Site to a GoDaddy Server / Hosting Account.. Thanks to Google I found the below mentioned tutorial, http://zensamarketing.com/2009/07/how-to-use-joomlapack-and-kickstart-to-upload-your-local-joomla-site-to-a-godaddy-server-hosting-account/ So far I completed up to the 7th step, But I'm stuck at the step 08. I'm using Filezilla as my FTP client, Using that I uploaded the files as per the guided on step 07 and when I try to access www.mysitename.com/kickstart.php, it is giving me the below error, Forbidden You don't have permission to access /kickstart.php on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. How can I set permission... Please explain in a non technical way..   What would be the best way to create a circually linked list in C#. Should I derive it from the LinkedList< T collection? I'm planning on creating a simple address book using this Linked List to store my contacts (it's gonna be a suck-y address book, but I don't care cause I'll be the only one to use it). • iPhone SDK - keep data in modal view

  Hi all, I've got a modal view loaded the following way: ModalViewController *modalController = [[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ModalViewController" bundle:nil]; searchController.delegate = self; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:modalController animated:YES]; [modalController release]; When the modal view appears, "viewDidLoad" is called. When I dismiss the modal view via [self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; the method "viewDidUnload" ISN'T called, but the next time I let the modal view appear, "viewDidLoad" is called again. My problem now is that I'm creating an NSArray in the modal view's "viewDidLoad" - and as I'm fetching the data from the web, I would like to do it only once. But this way, it's fetched every time... Any hints how I could achieve that the data is only fetched once? I would really like to do it in the modal view and not in the parent and provide the array as parameter to the modal view... Thanks!

  Is there a way to take automatic screenshots of a web page (by specifying its URL) in a web app using PHP or Ruby on Rails? Perhaps using a plugin or some external REST service. I've researched a lot, and nothing seems to fit except something like this (http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/2010/02/automated-take-screenshots-website-free/) but I doubt Wordpress would just let me spam their servers for something not Wordpress related. • LDAP "Insufficient Access"

  I am trying to create an LDAP filter string. In each LDAP entry there is an attribute called "status" that has many values, some of which are of the regex form "[ab][0-9][1-9]". For example, "a20" or "b81". All other values for the "status" attribute are just alphabetical characters. I only want to let through entries that have a "status" value of the first form. When I construct an LDAP filter such as (status=a*) I get an "Insufficient Access" error. However, if I change the query to (status=a1*) that works fine. Is there any reason for this? If there behavior is unavoidable, can anyone thing of a way to get only the entries I want.
