• [VB.Net] System.IO will copy files, but fails to update destinations file attributes

  Hello, I have a little vb.net script that will copy a file, set its attributes to Normal, update the file time, and then set back the attributes to match those of the source file. If IO.File.Exists(Destination) Then IO.File.SetAttributes(Destination, IO.FileAttributes.Normal) IO.File.Copy(Source, Destination, True) IO.File.SetAttributes(Destination, IO.FileAttributes.Normal) IO.File.SetLastWriteTimeUtc(Destination, IO.File.GetLastWriteTimeUtc(Destination).AddHours(1)) IO.File.SetAttributes(Destination, IO.File.GetAttributes(Source)) I however I'm encountering a quite strange problem. On some configurations, IO.File.SetLastWriteTimeUtc triggers an UnauthorizedAccess error, although the IO.File.Copy instruction worked very well. I'm totally puzzled: I've checked, and file attributes are set to 128 (ie. Normal) successfully. The problem seems to be with the very SetLastWriteTimeUtc. But what is it? Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

  I'm trying to capture artwork from a pict file and embed into a track on iTunes using python appscript. I did something like this: imFile = open('/Users/kartikaiyer/temp.pict','r') data = imFile.read() it = app('iTunes') sel = it.current_track.get() sel.artworks[0].data_.set(data[513:]) I get an error OSERROR: -1731 MESSAGE: Unknown object Similar applescript code looks like this: tell application "iTunes" set the_artwork to read (POSIX file "/Users/kartikaiyer/temp.pict") from 513 as picture set data of artwork 1 of current track to the_artwork end tell I tried using ASTranslate but it never instantiates 'the_artwork' and then throws an error when there is a reference to the_artwork. Can anyone help. I'm new to appscript and python in general.

  Hello everyone! I'm trying to create annual, all-day events with VBA in outlook 2007. I use the following code, but no matter which conbination of Start, StartDate, End, etc I use, it won't create a whole-day event. Either it gives it default start/end times, or it remove the all-day attribute... Dim Birthday As Date 'Get the birthday '... Dim BDay As AppointmentItem Dim Pattern As Outlook.RecurrencePattern Set BDay = Application.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem) Set Pattern = BDay.GetRecurrencePattern Pattern.RecurrenceType = olRecursYearly Pattern.DayOfMonth = Day(Birthday) Pattern.MonthOfYear = Month(Birthday) Pattern.PatternStartDate = Birthday Pattern.NoEndDate = True BDay.AllDayEvent = True BDay.Subject = Contact.FullName BDay.Save When created directly in outlook, entries start on the birth day and end 24 hours later. Yet trying to set Start and End this way results in errors. Plus, entries created outlook have no start/end time in the recurrence pattern (well, they are all-day entries...) Ideas, anybody? Thanks!

• How come module-level validation errors only display when property-level validators are Valid?

  I'm using the module-level validator: 'PropertiesMustMatch' on my view-model, like so: [PropertiesMustMatch("Password", "PasswordConfirm")] public class HomeIndex { [Required] public string Name { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string PasswordConfirm { get; set; } } I'm noticing that if I submit the form without Name filled in, the ValidationSummary() helper returns only the following error: The Name field is required. However, if I fill in Name, then ValidationSummary() will return a PropertiesMustMatch error: 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. So it looks like the property-level validators are being evaluated first, then the model-level validators. I would much prefer if they were all validated at once, and ValidationSummary would return: The Name field is required. 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm studying the MVC 2 source-code to try to determine why this happens.

  Hello, I am trying to set up a PHP path to my Zend Framework. I am very confused on how to do this. My Zend Framework is located at the following location on my server: amazon/ZendFramework-1.10.3-minimal I am going to be creating a couple of php files in the amazon/ directory that will require the Zend Framework. My include path is: include("ZendFramework-1.10.3-minimal/library/Zend/Service/Amazon.php"); This works, however inside of Amazon.php is the line require_once 'Zend/Rest/Client.php'; ...and then Client.php has more dependencies set up like that, and so on. How can I set up my include path so that Amazon.php and Client.php (and so on) can correctly reference the location of the Zend Framework? Thanks

For the Component properties they are not.   Hi, I'm performing a little database optimisation at the moment and would like to set the column lengths in my table through JPA. So far I have no problem setting the String (varchar) lengths using JPA as follows: @Column(unique=true, nullable=false, length=99) public String getEmail() { return email; } However, when I want to do the same for a column which is of type Long (bigint), it doesn't work. For example, if I write: @Id @Column(length=7) @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) public Long getId() { return id; } The column size is still set as the default of 20.   I have two NIB's ParentViewController.xib ChildViewController.xib ParentViewController.xib contains a UIView and a UIViewController. ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

  My Visual Studio 2005 is a French one, installed on a French OS. All the exceptions I receive during debug or runtime I obtain also in French. Can I however do something that the exceptions messages be in English? For goggling, discussing etc. I tried the following: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("en-US"); throw new NullReferenceException(); obtained Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This is, surely, cool... but, as I work on a French project, I will not hardcode forcing Thread.CurrentUICulture to English. I want the English change to be only on my local machine, and don't change the project properties. Is it possible to set the exceptions language without modifying the code of the application?   I create dinamically a chart for a website. I have a key/value map, I sort the values descending, and then create the url: http://chart.googleapis.com/chart? chs=400x200&cht=bhs&chbh=a&chdlp=l&chg=25,0&chma=0,0,0,5&chtt=Chart+test& chxr=0,0,8,1&chds=0,8&chxt=t,y& chd=t:8,5,3& chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3 The values are set by chd=t:8,5,3, and the labels are set by chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3. However, in the chart image the labels are reversed. I searched the documentation, but I didn't get why it is like this. Is it because I didn't set a value correctly, or is this the desired functionality? I could reverse the label texts in chxl from code to be displayed how I want. Is this the right way?

  Microsoft MSDN site has next remark: "Any groups assigned to a ListView control appear whenever the ListView.View property is set to a value other than View.List." My problem is that i like to have View set to SmallIcon. In this mode ListView control is shifted left, and CheckBoxes are covered by left edge How to solve this issue, or at least how is possible to shift rendering of control to the right. My OS is Windows XP Service Pack 3. It looks like that ListView items with Groups and CheckBoxes shows correctly only when View set to Details.

• Installing ant; clearly misunderstanding JAVA_HOME

  Hey all, I am installing ant on a Windows XP machine, and am following the instructions at Apache's manual site. It said to set JAVA_HOME, so I checked, saw there was no environment variable named JAVA_HOME, made one, and set it to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_19" When I try to run ant debug, however, it tells me that JAVA_HOME is currently set to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I'm guessing JAVA_HOME isn't an environment variable. But if it isn't one, I'm at a loss as to where to start looking for it. Anybody know? Edit: Oh yeah - it's bugging me for tools.jar as well, but I'm guessing that when I fix the JAVA_HOME issue, that will help the terminal find tools.jar as well. Or maybe I'm wrong. Thanks

  Hi, I am using a FormView in an online quiz page for displaying the questions and RadioButtons (for answers) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2438219/online-quiz-using-asp-dot-net Now, I need to pick the questions according to a TestID and a particular Set of that Test. The testid and the set_number would be passed using Session variables. I'm having 3 testIDs and 3 Sets per TestID and, thus, am using 9 tables to store the Questions, the Options and the correct answer. I need help on how to set the FormView so that it extracts the questions from a particular table only. Do I need to use a StoredProcedure ? If yes, how? PS: If I use only one table to store all the questions from each Set and for each TestID, I can do that, but I'd prefer using separate tables.

• CSS - how can I handle the size difference between serif and sans-serif fonts?

  I'm working on a WordPress that will allow the site administrator to switch between sans-serif and serif fonts. I'm trying to code the stylesheet in such a way that the font sizes are similar whether or not they choose Georgia vs Arial. The problem is that when I have it looking nice with a serif font, it looks WAY too big when in sans-serif. When I then adjust it to look nice in a sans-serif font, it looks WAY too small in serif. Is there an ideal font size and line-height that works well with both serif and sans-serif? Or do I need to make separate stylesheets (a serf version and a sans-serif version)? P.S. I've set a base font size on the body at 12px, and then set the rest of the font sizes as a percentage of the base. Of course, this base font size could be set in ems or in percent, because the percentages will still scale proportionally.

• Is there a faster alternative to using textures in XNA?

  I am writing a map editing program for a 2D game using XNA. To create a Texture2D for all of the tiles that a map requires takes too long. Are there any alternatives to using textures for drawing with XNA? I attempted to create just one texture per tile set instead of a texture for every tile in a tile set, but there is a limit to the size of textures and I could not fit all the tiles of a tile set into one texture. Currently the program contains all the would-be textures in memory as Bitmap objects. Is there a way to simply draw a Bitmap object to the screen in XNA? I have searched but I cannot find any information on this. This approach would avoid having to create textures altogether, however any tinting or effects I would have to do to the bitmap directly. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks
