• .xcodeproj does not get committed with XCode's SCM Tool

  I am using the SCM Tools embedded in XCode to manage my app's versioning. I have created an iPhone app and I have added/committed it to the Subversion server but the .xcodeproj file won't upload (all the class files, resources etc are there)! I don't even get the option to "Add to Repository". Sometimes it gets an "A" (add) next to it under the "SCM" column but still, the next time I commit changes or commit entire project it still doesn't upload and show up on the server. As a result my team can't get and run the project. Is there a way to so something (other than just use the terminal or Versions)? Thank you.

• Easiest way to open chm files programmatically?

  Hi, I have a legacy 32-bit application written in Borland's C++ Builder. I need to show specific pages from within a HtmlHelp file programmatically. Until now I've been doing this via HtmlHelp.ocx, but this does not work on x64 versions of Windows Vista / Windows7 as described in this thread. I can't compile the application as 64-bit executable. Therefore the only workaround I have found so far is to create a 32-bit component implementing a COM object which loads and calls into the 32-bit DLL, and exposes the 32-bit DLL interface as a COM interface. That sounds far too complicated just to display a chml file with a specific topic. There must be something else. But what is it?

• Database change management tools?

  We are currently in the process of solidifying a database change management process. We run MySql 5 running on RedHat 5. I have selected LiquiBase as the tool because it's open source and allows us to expand its functionality later if needed. It also seems to be one of the few free projects that are still active. Has anyone here had any experience using LiquiBase or other Db versioning tools? Company Background: We are an SaaS company providing a 7/24 hosted application. There are dozens of instances running different versions of the same database and we need a way to manage the deploy process as it's starting to get out of control. The databases have hundreds of tables and we typically do releases once every 3 months.

• Resolving SNAPSHOT dependencies with timestamps from Ivy

  I am attempting to resolve timestamped SNAPSHOT dependencies with Ivy. The environment is Ant + Ivy 1.2.0 + Archiva. Archiva itself is populated from Maven2 builds. Ivy is only used to resolve dependencies (from a single, non Maven2 project). How can Ivy be configured to correctly resolve timestamped artifacts from an Archiva or m2 repository? • LicenseException for Xceed DataGrid for WPF

  I have developed a simple DB-editing app using Xceed's excellent DataGrid for WPF (UX Edition version 3.7), which is now ready for deployment... except that when I run it on a machine other than the development one where it was built, I am getting the runtime exception for invalid licensing. I have included my license key in the App.xaml.cs exactly as specified in the Xceed docs, like so: public partial class App : System.Windows.Application { protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey = "DGF37-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx"; base.OnStartup(e); } } The correct version of the DataGrid DLLs are being included in the setup and the application's program directory, and there are no other versions on the target machine. Debugging doesn't show me anything useful other than the LicenseException that is thrown when the code tries to use the DataGrid, with the message that reads "Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey property must be set to a valid license key in the code of your application before using this product..." Any idea what's going wrong here?

• Drop on NSTableView Behavior

  Hi, I have an NSTableView and I have successfully implemented both tableView:validateDrop:proposedRow:proposedDropOperation: and tableView:acceptDrop:row:dropOperation:. I don't need tableView:writeRowsWithIndexes:toPasteboard: because that's for dragging objects out of the NSTableView. Now, the problem is that I want it to behave kind of iTunes-like. In iTunes 9.x (I don't remember it for the previous versions) you have an NSTableView (the playlist) and when you drag a file over it you get this blue focus inside the NSTableView (maybe it's the NSScrollView?) and you don't have the blue horizontal line that indicates where you're going to insert an object. So basically I would like: No blue horizontal insert line between rows when hovering a file over the NSTableView. The blue focus inside the NSTableView (or NSScrollView). Any help would be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance.

My merge module will be used with an MSI that is built bi-weekly. These bi-weekly MSIs need to co-exist on the same machine as separate installations (e.g. versions 1, 2, 3, etc...) Do I need to change the package GUID of my merge module for each bi-weekly MSI build?

  I'm testing my site with Google PageSpeed and YSlow and the bundles that i've created with MVC4 bundles aren't getting Gzipped (Compressing resources with gzip or deflate can reduce the number of bytes sent over the network) and there is no Vary: Accept-Encoding header (Instructs proxy servers to cache two versions of the resource: one compressed, and one uncompressed. This helps avoid issues with public proxies that do not detect the presence of a Content-Encoding header properly.) And also how can i add encoding header for the whole scripts folder on the ISS. I know there is HTTP Response Headers, then Add Custom HTTP Response Header, but will this work on the whole scripts folders and subfolders and what to put in the Name and Value fields. • Fastest way to call a COM objects method without using a RCW

  I'm trying to find the cleanest and fastest way for calling a COM objects methods. I was using a RCW for the object but every time a new version of the third party COM object comes out its GUID changes which then renders the RCW useless, so I had to change and start using Type mytype = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("MyCOMApp.Application"); so that every time a new version of the COM object comes out I don't have to recomplie and redeploy my app. At the moment I am using refelection like mytype.InvokeMemeber but I feel it is so slow compared to just calling the RCW. How does everyone else tackle the problem of changing 3rd party COM object versions, but still maintaining the speed of a RCW?

• Mac OS X, MySQL Preference Pane doesn't work

  I downloaded and installed MySQL 5.1.47 for OS X 10.6 using the DMG archive: mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg I also installed MySQL.prefPane and MySQLStartupItem.pkg. MySQL.prefPane is a Preference Pane. The problem is, whenever I attempt to start/stop MySQL from the Preference Pane, System Preferences just hangs. It runs at about 50% CPU forever, eventually I have for force quit System Preferences. The same thing happens if I toggle "Automatically Start MySQL Server on Startup". Basically the MySQL Preference Pane is not functional. Note that I have no problem starting MySQL from the command line: sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe I have tried reinstalling MySQL and the Preference Pane. I'm using the standard installation location, nothing out of the ordinary. Every time the MySQL Preference Pane just hangs. I'm doing this on a Macbook Pro (Intel) running OS X 10.6.3. There are no old versions of MySQL on this machine.

  Hi, I have a requirement to work on a VS2003 web project. I have VS2008,vs2010,vs2003 installed in my system Other System details are Windows Xp professional version 2 service pack 3. IIS 5.1 When i am trying to create a VS 2003 web project giving the localhost as path i am getting the following error. "visual studio noted that specified web server is not running under asp .net 1.1 version.You will be unable to run asp .net web applications or services". I have used aspnet_regiis commands as well as a tool(ASPNETVersionSwitcher.exe ) to swith versions and in iis also default web site asp.net version chosen as asp .net 1.14322. Still i am getting the error. same error i get ,if i point a virtual directory in the existing 1.1 .net web application and trying to open it.   All of the collection classes have two versions - mutable and immutable, such as NSArray and NSMutableArray. Is the distinction merely to promote careful programming by providing a const collection or is there some performance hit when using a mutable object as opposed to immutable? Similarly each of the collection classes has a method xxxxWithCapacity, like [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:0]. I often use zero as the argument because it seems a better choice than guessing wrongly how many objects might be added. Is there some performance advantage to creating a collection with capacity for enough objects in advance? If not why isn't the function something like + (id)emptyArray?

• Testing C++ program with Testing classes over normally used classes

  Hi Guys, This will probably be a bot of a waffly question but ill try my best. I have a simple c++ program that i need to build testing for. I have 2 Classes i use besides the one i actually am using, these are called WebServer and BusinessLogicLayer. To test my own code i have made my own versions of these classes that feed dummy data to my class to test it functionality. I need to know a way of somehow, via a makefile for instance, how to tell the source code to use the test classes over the normally used classes. The test classes are in a different "tester" c++ file, and the tester c++ file also has its own header file. Regards Paul P.S.   Hey guys, I am trying to use the Jets3t library within an Android application, and I keep getting errors with the Rest service when I use the library. 04-27 16:47:39.491: ERROR/S3Service(225): Couldn't initialize a sax driver for the XMLReader I have tried to include the Xerces library and the Crimson library, and it dont play well. I get this error: Attempt to include a core class (java.* or javax.*) in something other than a core library. It is likely that you have attempted to include in an application the core library (or a part thereof) from a desktop virtual machine. This will most assuredly not work. At a minimum, it jeopardizes the compatibility of your app with future versions of the platform. It is also often of questionable legality. If you really intend to build a core library -- which is only appropriate as part of creating a full virtual machine distribution, as opposed to compiling an application -- then use the "--core-library" option to suppress this error message. Is there something I can do to get it working ?

  Hello, Today I was testing out SRFI 19 and wrote a simple version of the UNIX cal(1) command. Here's a version in R6RS Scheme which runs in Ikarus and Ypsilon. A few example runs. Schemers: How would you write it? Use your favorite implementation. Ruby and Python: I'm guessing that y'all have elegant date and time libraries. I'm sure you can put the Schemers to shame. ;-) Let's see what ya got. I'd also like to see Haskell and golfed versions. Is there a Stack Overflow tag for re-implementations of UNIX commands? :-) Ed

  We are looking to turn an internal tool we have developed into a Visual Studio Package that we would sell to other developers. The tool will impact the custom editor and/or custom languages. Visual Studio 2010 has redesigned the API's heavily to simplify much of the work involved for these types of integration but the key question we have is: What is the typical adoption pace of new Visual Studio versions? Is there any information out there on adoption rates based on history? How many shops are still using 2005? This will help us to consider whether to target just 2010 using the new APIs or whether trying to go back and support 2008 (maybe 2005) and testing it forward.

  We have a framework that offers A/B split testing. You have a 'champion' version of a page and you develop a 'challenger' version of it. Then you run the website and allocate some of your users the champion and some the challenger and measure their different responses. If the challenger is better than the champion at achieving your metrics then you dethrone the champion and develop a new challenger... My question is what mechanisms should I consider to allocate the versions? A number of options spring to mind: odd or even IP address (or sub-segments) ****.****.****.123 gets champion but .124 gets challenger cookie push - check for a champion/challenger cookie, if it doesn't exist randomly allocate the user to one and push the cookie Best practice? suggestions? comments? experience?

  Hi, I am using dotnetCHARTING: the dll is installed in the GAC and referenced in my web.config (all versions appear to match). The project has a reference to the dll. web.config: <add assembly="dotnetCHARTING, Version=5.3.3540.17054, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=af2cd47db69d93bd"/> The site code compiles ok, but all aspx pages using the charting library complain that the Chart tag does not exist (warning that it might be a compile error). The aspx pages do not render the charts. Each page has a reference to the assembly: <%@ Register Assembly="dotnetCHARTING" Namespace="dotnetCHARTING" TagPrefix="dotnetCHARTING" %> Does anybody know what could be causing this? • Refernce platform specific System.Data.SQLite

  Hi, I am using SQLite for the unit testing and might use it as a database for local development/staging. The System.Data.SQLite has basically 2 versions: x86 and x64. Correct one should be used for the specific platform. I have 64 bit Win7, other guys in the team might use 32-bit OSs. The server's platform is not known at this stage. If I use 32-bit version of the assembly on 64-bit platform I get BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'. I believe similar will happen trying to use 64-bit assembly on 32-bit platform. So my question is what is the best way to reference the SQLite assembly so that it does not depend on the platform and people can just use it? It is ok to use 32-bit version of assembly on a 64-bit platform (Maybe there is a switch for that somewhere?). Thanks, Dmitriy.

• Cannot login with PhpMyAdmin on Mac os x 10.6. Does anyone know a fix to this error message?

  Hi, I just reinstalled Mac Os X 10.6.2 and had to reinstall/update my MySQL server. I run phpMyAdmin inside my localhost and I used to be able to login without a hitch. Since the updated (latest version MySQL 5.1.45 & PMA 3.3.1) versions I only get the following error when trying to login with phpMyAdmin: phpMyAdmin - Error Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly. The only thing I noticed is that mcrypt cannot be loaded (this has always been the case, no idea what to do to install this..) but this has never been a problem before. If anyone know what to do here that would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading, Jannis PS: The MySQL server itself is running and I am able to login with as root user via the MySQL Administrator.app

  I know that private inheritance is supported in C++ and only public inheritance is supported in C#. I also came across an article which says that private inheritance usually defines a HAS-A relationship and kind of an aggregation relationship between the classes. EDIT: C++ code for private inheritance: The "Car has-a Engine" relationship can also be expressed using private inheritance: class Car : private Engine { // Car has-a Engine public: Car() : Engine(8) { } // Initializes this Car with 8 cylinders using Engine::start; // Start this Car by starting its Engine }; Now, Is there a way to create a HAS-A relationship between C# classes which is one of the thing that I would like to know - HOW? Another curious question is why doesn't C# support the private (and also protected) inheritance ? - Is not supporting multiple implementation inheritance a valid reason or any other? Is private (and protected) inheritance planned for future versions of C#? Will supporting the private (and protected) inheritance in C# make it a better and widely used language?

• Blank Pages with Zen Cart v1.3.8 and PHP 5.3

  I am trying to run a live Zen Cart store (version 1.3.8) on a my local machine which is PHP 5.3. I am aware of the incompatibilities between both versions and have dealt with it by applying the patch found here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140960 I am able to login the admin side no problem, but when i navigate to the store - all i see are blank pages. How can I fix this issue? I'm hoping there is a fix elsewhere. Trying not to revert to an older PHP installation.

• Problem with Gallio and TeamCity and the new Visual Studio 2010 release

  I am running TeamCity on a virtual machine. I have installed the new Visual Studio 2010 release yesterday and converted my VS 2008 projects. I also have installed .NET Framework 4 on my virtual machine. Before yesterday all my projects were building succesfully on the CI server but since I installed VS 2010 I get the following error message : error MSB5014: File format version is not recognized. MSBuild can only read solution files between versions 7.0 and 9.0, inclusive. I did change my config on Team City to take into account the new .NET 4 framework : Build Runner : MSBuild Build File Path : CFT.msbuild MSBuild version : Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0 MSBuild ToolsVersion : 4.0 Run Platform : x86 I think it has something to do with the fact that now MSBuild must refer to .NET 4 framwork but it seems that it keeps refering to 2.0.
