  • Writing a batch script to perform differently on different days?

    I am in the process of setting up a batch script to do a specified action if the script was run on a weekday, and an alternate action if run on the weekend. I am almost completely unfamiliar with writing batch scripts, but I know how to write my entire script except the logic I describe above.     Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?

  • Create ActiveRecord migration then edit in one step?

    I find myself doing this a lot: script/generate migration my_new_migration .. then select & copy the generated filename, then paste it into vi to actually write the migration. Is there any way to do this in one step? i.e. when the script/generate migration runs, it creates the file the automatically opens that file in an editor? (I'm working in an SSH terminal window on linux..)

    I am just wondering if you are supposed to write a sort of really secure application with data being transmitted over insecure networks, what kind of encryption algorithm will you use it in order to make it safe ? I know several c++ libraries for encryption providing nice functions with different algorithms, but i'm not quite sure which cipher to use - AES, DES, RSA, Blowfish or maybe something more different ?
