• How to build third party libraries with Android NDK

  How can I compile third party libraries with the android NDK? I am compiling a wrapper which implements the JNI functions as a shared lib, which depends on another 3rd party lib (HTK). I don't know how to setup the makefile. The following does not work: LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) include HTKLib/Android.mk LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) LOCAL_MODULE := gaitfuncs LOCAL_SRC_FILES := gaitfuncs.c %LOCAL_LDLIBS := -L$(SYSROOT)/usr/lib -llog include $(BUILD_SHARED_LIBRARY) The second makefile should then build a static lib which my shared lib links to. How can I include this subdir makefile properly? Is this the correct way of doing it? And as a bonus: Are there wildcards for the LOCAL_SRC_FILES variable to take all files ending in .c for example. • Noob Droid Question regarding random number

  Brand new to droid programming, but would love to learn as much as possible, so I finally got my emulator working correctly, I even got a hello world button to work, I'm attempting to make this button display a random number, I've googled this and came up with this code: Random generator = new Random(); int n = generator.nextInt(n); I fixed the Random function by including some Random java utility. I'm assuming this code above goes in the .java file of the project, so my button code looks as follows (tested and works): PopUpText.makeText(v.getContext(), "Hello World", PopUpText.LENGTH_LONG).show(); I figured I could replace "Hello World" with n to display the number in the box, however the following error is stopping the compile: The local variable n may not have been initialized Any ideas why this is happening? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

  To use the web service that is part of an SSRS installation, it seems that you need to add a web reference to your project so that you can call it etc (see one of my previous questions). But if I needed to call the web service for different SSRS installations then i need to keep adding extra web references. My asp.net application currently displays reports from several different SSRS installations, not just a single server... Is there a way to either dynamically add the web reference or to dynamically change the server address of where the web service is located?

• how have defined connection within function for pdo communication with DB

When I call a pdo query connection within a function and the connection is included outside the function, the connection becomes undefined. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here?   I have a class that basically stores files in amazon s3. Here is what it looks like (simplified) public class S3FileStore { public void PutFile(string ID, Stream content) { //do stuff } } In my client app, I want to be able to call: var s3 = new() S3FileStore(); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile1")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile2")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile3")); I want this to be an asynchronous operation - I want the S3FileStore to handle this (i don't want my caller to have to execute PutFile asynchronously so to speak) but, i want to be able to trap exceptions / tell if the operation completed for each file. I've looked at event based async calls, especially this: http://blogs.windowsclient.net/rendle/archive/2008/11/04/functional-shortcuts-2-event-based-asynchronous-pattern.aspx However, I can't see how to call my PutFile (void) method? Are there any better examples?

• How to programatically set cell.textLabel.text from a different view?

  I've got a view controller, call it VC1, that's a table view. When I tap a cell in the table view, I am presented with a new view controller, call it VC2, which is a short list of choices. After making a choice, I want to dismiss VC2 and set the cell.textLabel.text property of the VC1 cell I originally tapped to the value I selected in VC2. Conceptually speaking, what is the proper way to do this? I've tried a handful of different approaches, but all of them seem wonky at best, and only one of them actually worked - although it was the most cumbersome of all, passing references to both view controllers and table view cells and all kinds of things. It just feels like I'm making a mountain out of what is probably a mole hill. This is such a common paradigm that I find it hard to believe there's not a simple method for doing it. For example, after I detect that some resources might no longer be used in a cache, I might call: [self performSelector:@selector(cleanupCache) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; However, there might be numerous places where I detect this, and I don't want to be calling cleanupCache continuously. I'd like to consolidate multiple calls to cleanupCache so that we only periodically get ONE call to cleanupCache. Here's what I've come up with do to this-- is this the best way? • Is it possible to change the pane locations in Chrome Developer Tools?

  When debugging browser-based apps using Google Chrome's Developer Tools, is there a way to change the locations of the various panes? E.g., the Watch Expressions, the Call Stack, the code pane, etc.? The defaults are okay (console at bottom, code pane upper left, a column of Watch Expressions, Call Stack, Scope Vars, etc. in the upper right), but I'd rather swap things around a bit of it's possible. There doesn't seem to be anything to grab (other than for sizing) and I haven't found a way in my searching so far, but there are (still) some things about Chrome's options that aren't ... well-advertised in the UI, shall we say :-), especially around developer tools.

  I know how to override an object's getattr() to handle calls to undefined object functions. However, I would like to achieve the same behavior for the builtin getattr() function. For instance, consider code like this: call_some_undefined_function() Normally, that simply produces an error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> NameError: name 'call_some_undefined_function' is not defined I want to override getattr() so that I can intercept the call to "call_some_undefined_function()" and figure out what to do. • Not getting stage.stageWidth and stageHeight on Firefox 3.5

  Here's a problem that I've been tried to figure out but still couldn't get the right method to fix it yet. I'm having issue regarding the display when using Firefox 3.5 on MAC, I can see my menu and the display is correct. The menu just position above what it supposed to be positioned. It works fine with Safari on MACOSX. My flash size is: 1440x750 It looks like Firefox can't recognize stage.StageWidth and stage.StageHeight. It returns 0. Some suggest implementing was to pass in the actual width and height of movie via FlashVars. The movie uses these instead of stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight Does anyone have an example of code of how to fix that issue?? Appreciated to point me out the right way

• Page loading effect with jquery

  Hello all, Is there a way to use jquery (or other method) to display a loading div while page loads? I have a table that is populated using PHP/MySQL and can contain several thousand rows. This is then sorted using the tablesorter plugin for jquery. Everything works fine, however the page can sometimes take 4-5 seconds to fully load and it would be nice to display a 'loading...' message within a div which automatically disappears when whole table is loaded. I have heard of loadmask plugin for jquery - would this be suitable for my needs and if not any alternative? No AJAX calls are being made while loading this table if thats relevant. • JLabel not displaying all the characters even after dynamically changing font size

  Hi all, I am trying to fit a sentence that changes often, in to a few jlabels. Widths of my 3 jlabels stay unchanged all the time. What I am doing is changing the font size so all the characters can fit with out non being out of the display range of the labels. What I do is call below code snippet when ever sentence is changed. • jQuery get value from checked element with a given name

  I've got an input like so: I'd like to use jQuery to grab that element, and add the function call foo() to the change event. Currently I can get it done, but there are two hacks involved. My (working) code: $(":input[name*=myfield]").change( function( $(":input[name*=myfield]") ) { foo(); }); )}; There are two hacks in there I'd like to eliminate. Keeping in mind that the input names are multidimensional arrays, how can I use the :input[name=somename], versus [name*=someone]? I'd imagine it's faster using an exact name rather than *=, but I can't get the escape sequence correct for the brackets on the multidimensional arrays. Can I chain the call together so that I don't have to select the element twice? Is the standard practice for that to select the HTML element into a var, then use that var? Or can I chain it together? Thanks for the help. Still working on getting my footing in JS/JQ.

My intention is to only retrieve the queries that can be displayed on a single page, thus making the process efficient. I tried using two queries in my function, but I could not return two variables to the cfinvoke.   I've noticed that google app engine seems to have a fair amount of downtime where they place the datastore into read-only mode. Frequently this downtime is in the middle of the day. Is this something that is happening only during early development, or is this something that I can expect to be always be occurring? I've developing an application that helps small businesses handle their operations. One thing that it does is take appointments, another is route phone calls. I'd like some suggestions on how to handle times when the datastore is in read-only such as: What if our client is on the phone with the customer and is taking down an appointment and the datastore is in read-only? It would not be acceptable to ask the client to come back later to save, especially if its in the middle of the day. What if there is an incoming call and the application can not store the record or properly route the call due to database writes being unavailable? How are these types of issues normally handled?

I have added a function which I use to get the authors of these articles using only one query (it is described here) But I don't know what to do with the favorites (I'd like to know which of the displayed articles have been favorited by me using less than 10 queries (I want to display 10 articles)). Is it possible?

  Hi, I have to develop a code which will store a list of objects, as example below 101, value 11, value 12, value 13 ...etc 102, value 21, value 22, value 23 ...etc 103, value 31, value 32, value 33 ...etc 104, value 41, value 42, value 43 ...etc Now, the difficulty is, that first column is an identifier, and whole table should always be sorted by it. Easy access to each element is required. Additionally, list should be easily updated, and extended by adding element at the end as well as in front and still keep being sorted by first column. Finally, I would like to be able to display values of the above in datagridview. What is most important is a performance of the implementation, as rows will be updated many times per second, and datagridview should be able to display all changes immediately. I was thinking about creating class for the values, and then a Dictionary but encountered a problem with displaying values in gridview. What would be the most optimal way of implementing the code? • WCF Web Services - Multiple Hop impersonation on the same server

  Hi Folks I have 3 web services, all located on the same server. My Client calls Service A, which impersonates the client to call Service B, and all is well. Now, I want to impersonate the caller of service B (which is my username) to call Service C. When I use the same technique as before (AllowedImpersonationLevel = Impersonate, user.Impersonate()), The user doesnt get passed to service C. Instead, Service C sees the user as the user I am running it under in IIS. Is there anything special I need to do to get this working? Is this a delegation issue? (I thought it would not be delegation because they are all on the same server) Thanks SO!

  Hi, I guess it's a stupid question, but I don't get it :-( I wrote an R script, which creates heatmaps out of xls files. I am calling this R script with a Perl system call and pass over all the arguments. This all works fine. Now I wanted to make the R script less confusing by writing different functions in the R script, for example: args <- commandArgs(TRUE) parsexls <- function(filepath) { data <- read.xls(...) assign("data", data, globalenv()) } reorder <- function(var) { data <- data[order...] assign("data", data, globalenv()) } When I want to call the functions with parsexls(args[1]) reorder(args[2]) nothing happens. But when I place the parsexls(args[1]) in the script between the two functions shown above, the file is parsed correctly! The reorder(args[2]) seems never to be read. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? • MATLAB plot moving data points in seperate subplots simutaneously

  I wish to visualize the movement of a data point throughout space across a period of time within MATLAB. However, the way I want my figure to display is such that only a single instant is plotted at any given time. That was easy, I simply created a for loop to update my 3D plot display for every set of coordinates (x,y,z) in my data. However, I wish to display 4 different viewing angles of this plot at all times. I am well aware of how to setup subplots within MATLAB, that is not the issue. My issue is getting all 4 of these subplots to execute simultaneously so that all 4 subplots are always displaying the same point in time. I would appreciate if anyone could suggest how to handle this issue. • DataGrid In Java Struts Web Application

  Hi After scouring the web I have edited my question from the one below to what it is now. Ok I seem to understand that I don't need all the capabilities of excel right now. I think i am satisfied having a data grid to display data. Basically i am working on Struts 2 and I wat my jsp page to have an excel like feel and hence looks like even a datagrid is sufficient. I came across This Technology I am not sure whether I must go ahead and use it. Any other suggestions, alternatives are welcome The older version of the question "I have a java web application running on windows currently. I may host it in future in a Linux Server. My application allows people to upload data. I want to display the data they have uploaded in an excel file and render it in a portion of my webpage. How do I go about this ?"
