    Hi all, Just wanted to know what's your take on this... A user has left the company but may return in future. I would like to disable his AD account, archive all his emails, keep his mailbox and prevent new emails from being sent to him. What's the "best practice" method of doing this? Please enlighten and thanks in advance. What I would do: Reset AD password Change SMTP address - leading to NDRs if new emails are sent to his/her previous address Logon as him/her and archive emails Disable AD account Hide address from GAL

  • Sharing a printer over the net from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2003

    - by Grant Unwin
    Hi, I need to share a printer that is connected to a Windows 7 computer. The windows 7 computer is in another building about an hours drive away. The computer that needs to access the printer is running Windows Server 2008. Ive tried setting the printer as 'shared' for 'everyone' on the Windows 7 PC and accessing it from the server by adding a TCP/IP port to the IP address but the printer just wont add. From googling aparently it may need setting up as a printer server through IIS, but i'm just not sure on the best practice. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Grant Unwin

  • Wordpress: how to call a plugin function with an ajax call?

    - by Bee
    I'm writing a Wordpress MU plugin, it includes a link with each post and I want to use ajax to call one of the plugin functions when the user clicks on this link, and then dynamically update the link-text with output from that function. I'm stuck with the ajax query. I've got this complicated, clearly hack-ish, way to do it, but it is not quite working. What is the 'correct' or 'wordpress' way to include ajax functionality in a plugin? (My current hack code is below. When I click the generate link I don't get the same output I get in the wp page as when I go directly to sample-ajax.php in my browser.) I've got my code[1] set up as follows: mu-plugins/sample.php: <?php /* Plugin Name: Sample Plugin */ if (!class_exists("SamplePlugin")) { class SamplePlugin { function SamplePlugin() {} function addHeaderCode() { echo '<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="'.get_bloginfo('wpurl'). '/wp-content/mu-plugins/sample/sample.css" />\n'; wp_enqueue_script('sample-ajax', get_bloginfo('wpurl') . '/wp-content/mu-plugins/sample/sample-ajax.js.php', array('jquery'), '1.0'); } // adds the link to post content. function addLink($content = '') { $content .= "<span class='foobar clicked'><a href='#'>click</a></span>"; return $content; } function doAjax() { // echo "<a href='#'>AJAX!</a>"; } } } if (class_exists("SamplePlugin")) { $sample_plugin = new SamplePlugin(); } if (isset($sample_plugin)) { add_action('wp_head',array(&$sample_plugin,'addHeaderCode'),1); add_filter('the_content', array(&$sample_plugin, 'addLink')); } mu-plugins/sample/sample-ajax.js.php: <?php if (!function_exists('add_action')) { require_once("../../../wp-config.php"); } ?> jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery(".foobar").bind("click", function() { var aref = this; jQuery(this).toggleClass('clicked'); jQuery.ajax({ url: "http://mysite/wp-content/mu-plugins/sample/sample-ajax.php", success: function(value) { jQuery(aref).html(value); } }); }); }); mu-plugins/sample/sample-ajax.php: <?php if (!function_exists('add_action')) { require_once("../../../wp-config.php"); } if (isset($sample_plugin)) { $sample_plugin->doAjax(); } else { echo "unset"; } ?> [1] Note: The following tutorial got me this far, but I'm stumped at this point. http://www.devlounge.net/articles/using-ajax-with-your-wordpress-plugin

  • jquery ui button custom icons

    - by Brett
    It is easy to add one of the icons available as part of the UI Icon Set: $("#myButton").button({icons: {primary: "ui-icon-locked"}}); But what if I want to add one of my own icons that is not part of the framework icon set? I thought it would be as easy as giving it your own CSS class with a background image, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions? .fw-button-edit { background-image: url(edit.png); }

  • IIS: changing site's home directory while site is running

    - by Jeff Stewart
    I'm trying to understand exactly what IIS 6.0 (on Windows Server 2003) does when I change the "Local Path" of a web site's Home Directory while the site is running. (Specifically with regard to ASP.NET applications.) I'm trying to build support for or against this practice in a deployment scenario: e.g. deploy the new code alongside the old code, then simply switch the IIS web site's local path to the folder containing the new code. IIS seems to handle this gracefully, but I notice that w3wp.exe still keeps some handles on the old code folder after the change. That's strange to me, because I would have expected IIS to recycle the application pool if this happened. Is this safe? Is the behavior well-defined?

  • Any way to cache WAV files in IE?

    - by Dan Howard
    I'm seeing an issue with our web application. We have a few wave files which we can play (like ding.wav) and we have attempted to pre-load wave files but using Fiddler we're seeing that the WAV files are never cached like (js and css and image files). We always see an HTTP 200 instead of an HTTP 304. Any ideas on how to tell IE that it should cache wav files? We're inserting a div: <EMBED SRC='ding.wav' AUTOSTART='FALSE' HIDDEN='TRUE'>

  • Can iFrame Scrollbars be skinned in webkit?

    - by Mr. Bamboo
    It's pretty well known by now that you can style scrollbars using the webkit specific CSS tags (::-webkit-scrollbar-button:start:decrement, ::-webkit-scrollbar-button:end:increment, etc. ). However, I've noticed that I cannot style the scrollbars attached to iFrames. Question: Is there a way to access and style the scrollbars on the iFrame using webkit? (Yes, I've actually got a particular scenario where I'd like to be able to do this.) Thanks much in advance for any help!

  • Setting up an Active-Active IIS Cluster with ARR - is it possible?

    - by Ahmed Zubair
    I would like to know if we can setup an Active-Active IIS Cluster using Windows Cluster services that shares a common storage to store web content and WITHOUT the use of Windows NLB. I'm aware that this may not be a best practice or not a recommended setup, however, the setup is to be configured as below: Two web servers running IIS 7.5 (needs a common storage for web content) for HA and another set of two servers for sql cluster in active-passive mode for HA. Also is it possible to enable ARR on 2 node active-active IIS cluster for load balancing http requests? Appreciate if someone replies with both pros & cons of the setup.

  • Create your own HTML Textfield with Javascript

    - by teehoo
    I came across the following http://ckeditor.com/demo , and was wondering if anyone had a basic tutorial how to implement this (or perhaps what key search terms I should use)? Is this just a heavily modified TextField, or have they somehow managed to create a completely new TextField from scratch? I tried googling this many times, and I always get pages relating to customizing the built-in TextField with CSS etc.

    - by alexeypro
    Hello, Can somebody give me a resource (or just explanation? :-) of what "prototype" is and how it works in Javascript. May be comparison with something in Java? (not really necessary). But it should be as simple/easy as possible so inexperienced person just learning Javascript would understand (need to explain this to jr designer who is proficient with CSS/HTML, but not with Javascript). Thank you!

There are uls in each li, and each ul has the class sublist, which in the CSS has a display value of none, but with the jQuery below even though I hover over it, the ul won't show. I'm 12 and what is this? $(document).ready(function(){ $('#menu li').hover(function(){ $('.sublist').slideDown(200); }); });

  • Apache server doesn't create directory or file under www-data user [duplicate]

    - by Harkonnen
    This question already has an answer here: What permissions should my website files/folders have on a Linux webserver? 4 answers very newbie to Apache here I installed Apache 2.4 on my Arch server where I installed newznab (a newsgroups indexer). I have noticed that all files newznab needs to create are created under my login user, and not apache default user (www-data). I read here that it's bad security practice to allow www-data to write files. I agree. But as an apache newbie, I would like to know where (in the httpd.conf I suppose ?) the user allowed to write files can be configured, because I want another account to be allowed to write files instead of my main account.

  • What is the standard place for static library files on Unix/Ubuntu

    - by Max
    Hi, I am trying to install a library manually, well actually just put it in a sensible location preferably in my LIB path. I have a lib[...].a file and a bunch of headers pertaining to that static library file. If I look under /usr/lib/ I see only .so files, likewise for /lib/, /lib32/ etc. I figure I could chuck it in there, but is there any place where it can get cozy with other .a files or is that as good place as any? I'm not an library expert, but I'm pretty sure it won't matter functionally, but I'd like to learn conventional best practice. Also, where is the standard place to put the headers? Thanks!

  • Gtk+ Tables for Layout - Good or Bad?

    - by wag2639
