• Can't boot after Deleted System Reserved Partition

  I accidentally deleted the System Reserved Partition and now I can no longer boot into Windows 7. The installation of Windows and all my files still exists in the partition, but without the System Reserved Partition I can no longer boot. After I deleted the System Reserved Partition I moved left the primary partition to fill the space. Is there any way I can "reinstall" that System Reserved Partition and the boot files? PS: I only have Windows 7 installed. No dual-boot nothing.

• Best VoIP VPS Location?

  Our office currently runs a few phones over a VoIP line. Through our VoIP provider, we have a virtual private server. We chose them as the VPS provider because the VPS came pre-loaded with all of the software that was necessary. However, I've discovered that I would rather manage the software myself and would prefer to work on a different platform. The primary reason that we have stayed with them is because as our VoIP provider, I presume that there is some advantage in call quality because they have "direct access to the PSTN", which I would presume is an advantage when it comes to call termination and overall call quality. My question boils down to: What is better from a call quality perspective? 1) A server located 20ms closer to us (60ms), offered by a different company. 2) The current server at the VoIP/SIP provider (80ms)

• Tree deletion with NHibernate

  Hi, I'm struggling with a little problem and starting to arrive at the conclusion it's simply not possible. I have a Table called Group. As with most of these systems Group has a ParentGroup and a Children collection. So the Table Group looks like this: Group -ID (PK) -Name -ParentId (FK) I did my mappings using FNH AutoMappings, but I had to override the defaults for this: p.References(x => x.Parent) .Column("ParentId") .Cascade.All(); p.HasMany(x => x.Children) .KeyColumn("ParentId") .ForeignKeyCascadeOnDelete() .Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan() .Inverse(); Now, the general idea was to be able to delete a node and all of it's children to be deleted too by NH. So deleting the only root node should basically clear the whole table. I tried first with Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan but that works only for deletion of items from the Children collection, not deletion of the parent. Next I tried ForeignKeyCascadeOnDelete so the operation gets delegated to the Database through on delete cascade. But once I do that MSSql2008 does not allow me to create this constraint, failing with : Introducing FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FKBA21C18E87B9D9F7' on table 'Group' may cause cycles or multiple cascade paths. Specify ON DELETE NO ACTION or ON UPDATE NO ACTION, or modify other FOREIGN KEY constraints. Well, and that's it for me. I guess I'll just loop through the children and delete them one by one, thus doing a N+1. If anyone has a suggestion on how do that more elegantly I'd be eager to hear it.

  I'm trying to add the item <key>UIStatusBarHidden</key><true/> to my plist that's auto-generated by CMake. For certain keys, it appears there are pre-defined ways to add an item; for example: set(MACOSX_BUNDLE_ICON_FILE ${ICON}) But I can't find a way to add an arbitrary property. I tried using the MACOSX_BUNDLE_INFO_PLIST target property as follows: I'd like the resulting plist to be identical to the old one, except with the new property I want, so I just copied the auto-generated plist and set that as my template. But the plist uses some Xcode variables, which also look like ${foo}, and CMake grumbles about this: Syntax error in cmake code when parsing string <string>com.bedaire.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}</string> syntax error, unexpected cal_SYMBOL, expecting } (47) Policy CMP0010 is not set: Bad variable reference syntax is an error. Run "cmake --help-policy CMP0010" for policy details. Use the cmake_policy command to set the policy and suppress this warning. This warning is for project developers. Use -Wno-dev to suppress it. In any case, I'm not even sure that this is the right thing to do. I can't find a good example or any good documentation about this. Ideally, I'd just let CMake generate everything as before, and just add a single extra line. What can I do?

• How can I go through a Set in JSP? (Hibernate Associations)

  Hi All, So I am pretty new to JSP. I have tried this a few ways. Ways that would make sense in PHP or automagicy frameworks... I am probably thinking too much in fact... I have a hibernate one to many association. That is class x has many of class y. In class x's view.jsp. I would like to grab all of class y, where the foreign key of y matches the primary key of x and display them. It seems that hibernate properly puts this stuff into a set. Now, the question is how can I iterate through this set and then output it's contents... I am kind of stumped here. • Windows 7 changes desktop icon location when switching from External Monitor to Internal Monitor (laptop)

  I have a Windows 7 Laptop, and lately its been acting really weird with my 1080p Monitor. When I get home from school, Ill plug my screen in, and close my laptop lid (which makes the laptop treat the Monitor as the primary and only screen). However it will move my desktop icons! This also happens when I remove / unplug the screen, as shown in the pictures. I hate this, as Im the kinda person who's use to every icon being in a set spot, and so am use to their location. Its a massive hassle to try and move the icons back to their original spot. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? • What are the best practices for storing PHP session data in a database?

  I have developed a web application that uses a web server and database hosted by a web host (on the ground) and a server running on Amazon Web Services EC2. Both servers may be used by a user during a session and both will need to know some session information about a user. I don't want to POST the information that is needed by both servers because I dont want it to be visible to browsers / Firebug etc. So I need my session data to persist across servers. And I think that this means that the best option is to store all / some of the data that I need in the database rather than in a session. The easiest thing to do seems to be to keep the sessions but to POST the session_id between servers and use this as the key to lookup the data I need from a 'user_session_data' table in the database. I have looked at Tony Marston's article "Saving PHP Session Data to a database" - should I use this or will a table with the session data that I need and session_id as key suffice? What would be the downside of creating my own table and set of methods for storing the data I need in the database?

  Hi, I have a linux database(MySQL) server(Dell 2950) with a 6-disk RAID 10. The default IO scheduler on it is CFQ. However, from what I have read and heard, there is no need for a scheduler like CFQ when reordering/scheduling is also done by underlying RAID controller; on the contrary since it does not account underlying RAID configuration into account performance may actually degrade with CFQ. The primary concern is to reduce CPU usage and improve throughput. Also, I have seen recommendations of using noop/deadline IO scheduler for databases primarily because of the nature of their R/W access.

• exim4: multiple domains/IPs

  On my VPS I have 3 IPs which all have their own domain and their own reverse-DNS records. I have a website on each domain, sending emails. The problem is: the emails are rejected by many hosts because the reverse dns doesn't fit the host in the helo. All the emails are sent from the primary IP and therefore only one of the three domains work. I am looking for a way for exim to check which email adress i'm using to send the email and adapt the domain/IP transmitted in the helo. I have already tried many configurations but nothing has worked up to now. Simply changing MX-Records is impossible too, as I recieve (and also send) email via gmail and I don't want to set up my own webmail. Does anyone know a solution?

  Hello, could anyone help me to boot ubuntu-9.04 from usb hard disk? This disk contains /boot primary partition. During ubuntu installation I used "Advanced" button and asked to install GRUB to the /boot partition. Later I checked whether GRUB files are really present in this partition. They are. However, I get stuck while trying to boot. The boot menu ("ubuntu generic version", "ubuntu recovery mode", etc...) is not shown. Instead I am thrown to GRUB minimal bash-like version. I feel at a loss and have no idea why I am pointed to this minimal version. Can anybody prompt me what to do?

• Can't install Ubuntu 12 into VirtualBox (USB not recognized, ISO would not boot)

  I'm trying out VirtualBox 4.18 and wanted to install Ubuntu 12 as a test. After installing VirtualBox (on Debian squeeze/sid), creating a virtual machine for Ubuntu and pointing it in Settings Storage IDE Controllers to the ISO with the proper version of Ubuntu, checked the "Live CD" option. Tried to define the IDE as master / slave, primary / secondary - all to no effect, and trying to boot this system, I'm getting to the screen which says: FATAL: could not read from the boot medium! System halted I've copied the same ISO to the USB stick, and I can boot from the USB (outside VirtualBox). I've looked at couple of tutorials / walk-through, there's nothing I can see that I would've done wrong. So, how would I configure it to boot from the desired ISO?   Hello, We are looking at storage replication between two data centers (600km apart) to support an active-passive cluster design for disaster recovery. The OS layer will be mostly Windows Server 2003/2008 with some OpenSuSE Linux used for performance monitoring on VMWare or possibly XenServer. The primary application service to replicate is Nvision. Datacenter 1 will have two storage systems for local active-passive or perhaps active-active replication with Datacenter 2 used as a last resport disaster recovery site. We have a handle on most aspects, but I am looking for specific recommendations on storage platforms that can handle remote replication cleanly. Thanks.

• Multiple redirects / rewrites within one VirtualHost group

  Hi, I have a client that now wants to point a couple of dozen urls to their main site. I have added them as serveralias's in the sites apache config file... so now all of these urls point to the primary one... excellent. The problem i have is that if ANY of these alias's are accessed at the root (i.e. www.domain.com rather than www.domain.com/some-page/) then i need to redirect them to a specific page within the site (i.e. anyone accessing domain.com might need to be sent to domain.com/special-landing-page/). However, any visit to anything other than the landing page should just continue as normal without any re-directs. I've been battling with this for a few hours and can't seem to find the best solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  I've noticed by doing EXPLAINs that when a MySQL union between two tables is used, mysql creates a temporary table, but the temp table does not use keys, so queries are slowed considerably. • Windows 8 Secureboot: How do you bootup from another device such as cd/dvd drive or usb flash etc.?

  On PC's and laptops running an older OS, this is just a simple matter of going into the BIOS and setting the boot sequence and putting the boot cd/dvd in the drive. In many cases you can even just hit one of the F* function keys to bring up the boot sequence menu on-the-fly during POST. The main problem I'm running into is that other devices besides the primary HD is disabled when SecureBoot is enabled. So far the only way I've gotten it to work is to disable SecureBoot and enable something called legacy mode. Needless to say this make it difficult to boot things like OS recovery tools, PartitionHD backups, Linux LiveCD's and a bunch of others. Is there another procedure for doing this since it seems to mess up the Windows 8 install? By mess up I mean that after re-enabling SecureBoot and starting Windows 8 normally, the OS goes into a 'preping repair phase' for some reason that takes forever to complete before getting into a usable desktop.

  I'm currently using Acronis True Image Home 2010 and I have created an image of my Windows 7 OS. I copied it to my external HDD and I repartitioned my other PC's HDD. The primary partition houses the Windows Xp system which also has Acronis installed. The new partition is logical. Whenever I try to go through the steps on "Clone Disk" the program would not let me select a destination drive if I choose the external HDD as the source. I also did not know that it you can only select disks instead of partitions as a source or destination. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In plain english, Address exist independent of other objects. A user may be associated with one address. In the database, I have this set up as a foreign key relationship. I am attempting to map this relationship in the Entity Framework. I am getting errors on the following code: <Association Name="fk_UserAddress"> <End Role="User" Type="GenesisEntityModel.Store.User" Multiplicity="1"/> <End Role="Address" Type="GenesisEntityModel.Store.Address" Multiplicity="0..1" /> <ReferentialConstraint> <Principal Role="Address"> <PropertyRef Name="addressId"/> </Principal> <Dependent Role="User"> <PropertyRef Name="addressId"/> </Dependent> </ReferentialConstraint> </Association> It is giving a "The Lower Bound of the multiplicity must be 0" error. I would appreciate it if anyone could explain the error, and the best way to solve it. Thanks for any help.
