  • Server unable to communicate OUT, fine serving traffic

    We have several servers that are randomly loses the ability to communicate out to other nodes on the local network and internet. However websites are being served fine and we still have ssh access. A reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days. The servers are running 10.5.X and are fully up to date with software updates. Does anyone have any opinions, we think it is probably an ISP router, but we are guessing. Cheers Jono

    On Mac OS X I keep data on a local server mirrored with the same data on a remote server with a scheduled backup task done with Carbon Copy Cloner. After the backup is done a bash script is run as specified in the scheduled task options of CCC. Is the script run as root? Or differently and more generally: as my script writes to a log file, what command should I put on my script to see on the log if the script is running as root or something else?

    Im using Microsoft SBS 2011 esentials to allow some of my users to remote into there work machines when they try they get and error that says that the rd gateway can not be trusted I looked up the error on google and confirmed that i need to install the ssl cert on the local machine but the instructions given are for sbs 2011 standard (website here ) but the path given is not in sbs essentials so where can i find the " Install Certificate Package.zip " file in essentials?

  • Using wget to save sequential files as well as renaming the file extension

    I run a cron job that requests a snapshot from a remote webcam at a local address: wget http://user:[email protected]/snapshot.cgi This creates the files snapshot.cgi, snapshot.cgi.1, snapshot.cgi.2, each time it's run. My desired result would be for the file to be named similar to file.1.jpg, file.2.jpg. Basically, sequentially or date/time named files with the correct file extension instead of .cgi. Any ideas?

  • Sendmail ignoring parameters

    We're sending ~60k emails to non-local addresses with sendmail and I manually set the -f flag to [email protected]. This all works fine and dandy when I limit my PHP script to 5000 addresses. If I remove the limitation, sendmail ingnores the parameters and sends all emails with a reply-to and return-path of [email protected]. I'm sleeping in between each email for 500ms, that should not be the problem.

    In Windows XP, there are two settings in Group Policy I'm looking at: Password must meet complexity requirements Store password using reversible encryption Both of these settings are under Local Computer Policy/Computer Config/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Account Policies/Password Policy. For the first one, I have found the setting in RSOP_SecurityEventLogSettingBoolean class in WMI. However, I can't find the latter. Does anybody know in which class in WMI can I read that particular setting?

I can normally tunnel the GUI application using ssh computer-name -X program-name But I wam my full desktop to be running on a remote computer using ssh so that I can just use that computer remotely like a local desktop.     hi all, i was wondering if it's possible to run soulseek as portable on an external hd? the main problem is that soulseek is using local paths to "documents and settings" which means it can't be portable unless i'm copying those files every time. i've tried RegRapper but it seems that it's not possible to map the "document and settings" folder to the external hd. any ideas how it could be done? thx

Anyone know how to switch it over?   • Routing protocols, distance vector vs link state

    I'm trying to figure out the differences(pros/cons) between two routing protocols approach and I would be great-full for any help, advice and explanation. As far I can say that it seems like distance vector is more static and more local based routing, since it doesn't know the network state whereas link state is more aware of current states therefore it seems more natural to use it over distance-vector, but I have a feeling like I'm missing something. And I would be glad to here about more aspects and different issues I have to consider while choosing one of them.

    I am setting up an Exchange 2010 SP2 for a customer. However, the server address that the server returns with autodiscover is wrong, as it points to the internal domain (.local) - and not the external address. How do I change this? Here's an image to describe what I mean: It is the upper field that is wrong. I dont want users to enable the RPC over HTTP-thing, as the users know barely nothing about computers.     Hi, guys, I'm running Windows 7. Whenever I disable the wireless adapter, the "Disable" option does not change to "enable". Similarly, for the "Local Area Connection", when I click on "Disable", the adapter gets disabled, but the "Disable" option remains. In summary, I am never offered the option to enable an adapter.
