  • Is there a way to detect when a WSS default.aspx page is updated?

    That is detect when the user makes web part changes and selects to exit editing the page. I want to be able to capture a page event, then create a SharePoint task to instruct a user to translate that page to another language (note that MOSS and variations is not an option because the client wants to use the free version of SharePoint). So the customer wants essentially the same WSS site in multiple languages.

    We are using htaccess basic authentication on one of our sites. One of our clients tried accessing the site and failed logging in multiple times. Now when visiting our site they simply get a "Can't Display Webpage" error. I believe I've had this before and I believe there IP's got banned after so many failures. For ease of reference for the coders working on the project I'd like to be able to add a commented tag similarly to # $Revision: 144 $ However, instead of the file revision it should contain a simple version number like so: # $Version: 1.63 $ # $Version: 1.64 $ # $Version: 2.0 $ Is there a way to get subversion to do this automatically for a specific directory and all sub-directories as well as for any new files added to those?

  • How to surpress screen savers on Linux?

    I need to prevent the screen saver from running while my application is running. I know how to do this on the Windows versions, with SendInput calls, but I need to do something similar for Linux ports. It looks complicated, because ideally, I'd like something that would work on multiple Linux distros (SuSe, Red Hat, Ubunutu...) and it looks like there are at least 3 different screen-saver frameworks: xscreensaver, gnome-screensaver, and something else in KDE.

    Hi, After some serious googleing I found out that the RandomAccessFile-class is not thread-safe. Now I could use one semaphore to lock all reads and writes but I don't think that performs very well. In theory it should be possible to do multiple reads and one write at a time. How can I do this in Java? Is it possible at all? Thanks!

  • I'm new to OOP/PHP. What's the practicality of visibility and extensibility in classes?

    I'm obviously brand new to these concepts. I just don't understand why you would limit access to properties or methods. It seems that you would just write the code according to intended results. Why would you create a private method instead of simply not calling that method? Is it for iterative object creation (if I'm stating that correctly), a multiple developer situation (don't mess up other people's work), or just so you don't mess up your own work accidentally?
