  • What can I do to speed up my HTC Hero?

    When I first got my HTC Hero phone it was very fast. But after a couple of weeks it's become slow. Typically (on any device), I've noticed that this is caused by having too much running at once... Is there a way I can limit the number of applications that are open? I think there's a task manager application in the market, so I'll try this. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

  • Open a file with eclipse via terminal and focus eclipse window

    I am a webdeveloper and my current working tools are: Terminal (ssh, tailing logs, grep, git, etc) Eclipse (PDT, Javascript, etc) Firefox (Developer Toolbar + Firebug) The problem is that I hate using the eclipse navigation tree. For me it is a lot easier to go to the Terminal and do something like this: $ eclipse /var/www/myproject/long/path/lib/Driver/Sql.php The annoying part is that the eclipse window is not focused after this command. I have to manually click on the eclipse window (using mouse... :@ grrr) Anyway to force eclipse to be focused?

  • Steps to install Windows 7 64bit on RAID 0 (striping)?

    I will receive in some days 2x500 GB hard disks (ST3500418AS) and an ASRock 890GX Extreme 3. My idea is to install onto it Windows 7 64-bit in RAID0 configuration (striping). I wondering which steps should I follow, due to the fact I never did it before. Should I install Windows 7 on a single disk and apply the RAID0 later, or should I perform some step through BIOS first and install then Windows 7?   • .NET 2.0 "not installed" after upgrade to Windows 7

    I Recently upgraded to Windows 7 (Business) RTM from Vista Business and everything is going great, it fixed the BSOD I was getting and the performance of my laptop is improved. However; during the upgrade, something seems to have gone awry with my .NET 2.0 installation. When attempting to install FlashDevelop, I get the following error from the installer package You need to install Maicrtosoft.NET 2.0 runtime before installing FlasgDevelop. You Have . I have a previous release of FD installed from before the upgrade and this still works fine. So I gave up on the new version of FD and got on with my day. Then I tried to install the Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.1 and that says I am missing a couple of prerequisites, one of which is .NET 2.0. When I download the .NET 2.0 runtime the installer fails, telling me that This product is already installed as part of the operating system. Does anyone have any idea how to make my computer recognise that .NET 2 is in fact installed. UPDATE I've checked Windows Features and everything relating to .NET is already installed. I've also been through my list of installed programs looking for .NET to in an attempt to uninstall it but it isn't there. In fact, the only thing that looks like a .NET distro that I am able to uninstall is the 3.5 Compact Framework.

  • DNS responding only to nslookup in Windows 7

    Hello. I have an interesting DNS issue in AD (2008R2) which I can't find a way to debug. Mainly if from commandline I try ping <machinename> then I get the reply that the hostr isn't found. But when I do nslookup <machinename> I get the correct response from my DNS with proper AAAA and A records. Anyone has an idea what could cause this? The client machines run Windows 7 Enterprise.

  • Using schtasks in interactive mode

    Hello! I'd like to create a scheduled task from the command line, in interactive mode. The at hh:mm /interactive program command fails, stating that security policies do not allow interactive execution. I'd therefore like to use the schtasks command. But when I type something like schtasks /Create /TN MyTask /SC DAILY /ST "13:10" /TR "notepad.exe" /V1 /F I get a message asking for my password, although I haven't set a password for my session. And when I leave the field blank, the command line answers that the task won't be able to run. How can I fix this problem? And how can I make the task interactive? Using /RU SYSTEM prevents the task from being run in interactive mode. Thanks! CFP.

    I'm following this tutorial to customize a Live CD, http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-customize-your-ubuntu-live-cd However, it's failed to upgrade linux-image, I guess it's just can't update-grub. Any idea? EDIT I copied the custom/ directory into an ext4 image, now the linux-image-2.6.35-24 package is successfully upgrade. But as shown in the original CDROM, the vmlinuz-* and initrd.img-* file is moved out to /casper/vmlinuz and casper/initrd.lz. Well, I can move vmlinuz-2.6.34-24-generic to /casper/vmlinuz, but how to compress file initrd.img-2.6.35-24-generic in .lz format? (It looks like lzip, but it's not: ) # cd original-maverick/casper # lzip -d initrd.lz initrd.lz: bad magic number (file not in lzip format).

When i connect to a machine, the client user should not have mouse and keyboard access of the Remote machine. It should be a View only remote connection. And i want to make the Remote viewer screen to be in full screen mode, because i dont want the user to do anything with menubars of Fatancy remote. Because this is kiosk application. For example: If I want to do a safe distribution of original music for demostration purposes I will need several requisites: 1) The music should be heard using a simple procedure like selecting the name of each song on a playlist of a mediaplayer. 2) The portable media, ussually a portable USB drive, must hide for complete and should make unaccesible the files that contain the audio data to anything but the mediaplayer, that must be in the first partition, the one that is visible. 3) Considering that´s impossible to really hide files in a non-hidden partition, a second hidden partition should be created in the USB drive and the audio data will be stored there. 4) The trick is to read the audio data files stored in the hidden partition with a mediaplayer stored in the visible partition, the media player also should be a complete standalone program and independent from any library of the operating system except of the OS audio system. 5) The hidden partition should have a copy protection scheme that could impede to do copies of the data or create working ISO images of it. I know that this description could not be technically accurate but it has a complete logic from the needs of a music producer against the problem of piracy. The philosophy that surrounds the concept is to transform a virtual object like a digital string of audio in a solid object like the analog vinyl discs are.

That is, I am seeking a usb-to-laptop port charger, NOT power outlet-to-laptop's usb charger. Is such a product even possible? I am guessing no since the usb port would not be able to supply enough electricity to power the laptop, even to maintain the battery (not charge it).

    I'm looking to find out detailed specifications for the built-in GPS hardware in the Blackberry Bold and Curve devices (9000 and 8350). RIM's documentation includes just a rudimentary description of the specs, but I'm looking for things like the actual detailed hardware/chipset info so we can research the accuracy needs for some upcoming projects we have. Knowing simply "A-GPS support" isn't really good enough... Does anyone know of any resources for finding advanced specs for built-in Blackberry hardware?

  • Mac OS X bug: Desktop & Screen Saver: image alignment preference is ignored.

    I have my desktop background set to rotate through a folder of images. Even though I have the alignment drop-down list set to "Center", the images still render as "Fill to Screen". When I change the list value to something else, then back to "Center", OR I manually click on a different image to display, well, that image is rendered as "Center". But all images that follow (via the "Change picture every x minutes" checkbox) are rendered as Fill to Screen. Any fix to this bug?

  • Windows 7 just deleted 4 days of work wtf!?

    Hey! I'm just a bit about to freak out. I just finished a project and rebooted my computer. It didn't want to boot anymore so I had to use the windows 7 system repair option. it run for a minute and then booted up. Now most of my sourcecode from the last 4 days of work is gone! background: sometimes (most often after installing new software) my notebook won't boot up anymore. It will just show the little Win 7 flag, but not read from the harddisk anymore. If I hardabord and reboot then, it asks me whether to start windows normally (which won't work) or to run "windows startup repair". If i run it, it does some stuff for about two or three minutes and then I can boot windows again. Usually after this, .exe files i added to the computer during previous days are gone - but other files so far were not touched. But now, after this happened, a whole bunch of ".as" (ActionScript source files) from my project are gone!! does anyone know where and whether there's a way to recover them?? please help! Thank you!

  • Why is my Mac beeping at me in a Sprint-Nextel-PTT kind of way?

    I'm really stumped about this one. Before on OSX 10.5 and now on OSX 10.6, my Mac occasionally beeps at me. It's a split-second "bee-bee-beep" that sounds vaguely similar to the push-to-talk beep you hear on Sprint/Nextel PTT commercials. I haven't been able to isolate what's running when it happens or what happens before it happens. Possible culprits are Quicksilver, Firefox, DropBox, Evernote helper, TrueCrypt, Wally. Any thoughts?     I have 24" dual monitors with 1920x1080 resolution on both of them. Consequently the text appears so small. I use the following text-intensive applications frequently: Web browser (Google Chrome) IDE (Komodo) Terminal (Gnome Terminal) Email (Thunderbird) I can configure text size on IDE, Terminal and Email. But for Chrome, it is not a good idea to set proportional font size because often one wants to see the entire (not just proportional fonts) site to be zoomed. So I am asking: Is it possible to increase DPI in Ubuntu (much like on Windows) so as to increase the text size across all apps? OR Is it possible to set permanent 'zoom' in Google Chrome, using a third-party extension maybe? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)
