  • *.exe is not a valid win32 application

    Hi everybody. recently I've bought a VGA card, "ATI Radeon HD4650", and after that I installed it on my PC, i cant run any .exe files just from my CD-Rom ! even when i attempt to install the driver of VGA Card, I couldn't do that, So I downloaded it and installed it with no problems. after that when I try to install some games from DVD (more than 5 different games I have tried) it prompt me with: "setup.exe is not a valid win32 application" therefore I cant install the game, in addition I need to say that there's nothing wrong with DVD's and my DVD-Rom. I would really appreciate if you just can help me through this one !

  • No digital audio output with Asus Xonar DG

    I've purchased an Asus Xonar DG as replacement for faulty onboard audio in a Medion 8822 as it has an optical output which is all I really need to feed my HTPC. I uninstalled the previous drivers/devices, switched the PC off, inserted the Asus card, powered up, disabled the onboard audio in the BIOS, then installed the driver that came on the CD (same version as on Asus' website as of today) and everything went perfectly - no errors. I set the audio devices up in Windows and in the Asus utility (SPDIF enabled, 6-ch audio) as I would expect to see them work, but the only thing is I have no digital audio from test tones within Windows/the Asus utility, PCM audio or Dolby Digital from DVD. Analogue audio is fine. I've uninstalled things and reinstalled a couple of times now, as well as trying almost all combinations of analogue/digital outputs but can't get it sorted. Does anyone have any tips on how to get this working? This card has just been released so there isn't much out there to go on. Notes: The light on the toslink port is lit. OS is Vista 32-bit SP2 and all up to date, pretty much a fresh install with almost no 3rd party applications installed This page seems to suggest that a digital output device in Windows is not needed with Xonar cards as it was with the previous Realtek so I have it set to Analog. The only other output device is S/PDIF pass-thru

  • Looping through a batch file only if the response is "everything is okay"

    I have a batch file that loops through the contents of a directory and compresses the files in the directory as follows; for %%a in (c:\data\*.*) do if "%%~xa" == "" "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7za.exe" a -tzip -mx9 "%%a.zip" "%%a" Seeing that I am using 7zip to compress the file, it returns the message "everything is okay" if it has successfully compressed the file and it then moves onto the next file in any. What I would like to do is the following; Only move to the next file if the response is "everything is okay" If the response is anything but "everything is okay", the error is logged Since an error has occurred, it attempts to compress the file again Once when it has succeeded i.e. "everything is okay" it goes to the next file Steps 3 & 4 only occur a maximum of 3 times before it gives up and moves onto the next file. How can I achieve this?

  • Using "route add" to tell my computer to use a direct ethernet connexion instead of wifi ?

    2 PCs are involved. Both are connected to the internet via Wifi on the same router. I can ping to/from each other and share folders flawlessly, but I'd like to be able to set a direct Ethernet link between them to speed up file transfers AND keep the Wifi connections (no gateway). So I plugged my RJ45 cable, and set up the connection. It works, but the PCs are only using this connection if one of them if disconnected from the Wifi. PC1 local address is 192.168.0.7 on its ethernet interface, and 192.168.1.21 on the wifi one. PC2 local address is 192.168.0.6 on its ethernet interface, and 192.168.1.22 on the wifi one. My question is : I'd like to using the route add command to tell PC1 to use the Ethernet interface when it needs to connect with PC2, by specifying "IF 2" at the end of the route add command. How can I do this ?   • Which Linux distribution for vehicle LCD instrument panel

    I will be designing an instrument panel for a vehicle to display the common gauges that you would find in a car - (speedometer, rpm, fuel level, oil pressure, etc.). We have selected a 7" LCD and are in the process of narrowing down the hardware (This will use an ARM processor). The idea is to read these values off of the CAN Bus and update the UI with those values. This needs to have a fairly quick boot time, 5-10 seconds would be acceptable from the time the ignigtion is turned on to the time the UI is running. I have been doing a lot of research on which linux distribution to use, but I wanted to ask the question here to get the community's suggestions. I have been a .NET programmer for years, so linux is a new world to me. Here is what I have found so far... Tizen is geared for In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) (plus some others). However, this project is not an IVI, and I do not need the phone dialer, navigation, etc. Meego is dead, and Tizen seems to be the replacement Angstrom, Debian... would either of these be useful? I am not tied to a particular programming language or IDE. Any help and direction is appreciated!

  • Why is Xampp unable to start Apache?

    I formatted my computer a week ago. Installed wampp on Windows XP, git and everything I needed. When I run git for the first time it told me it had a problem with my user folder (because of the accents) so I created a new user and migrated everything to the new one. After this, wampp wouldn't start anymore. I uninstalled it and installed xampp which is what I'm using now. My problem is that even though I requesed xampp to install Apache as a service it isn't installed. It doesn't show in Windows' services screen. Xampp control panel shows mysql service running OK. When I click to install Apache as a service it returns no error. When I click Start Apache no error is outputed. No file and no errors under c:/xampp/apache/log/ If I restart my computer it says that Apache service is not installed. I tried to reinstall wampp and the same problem occurs. If I run netstat -a -no nothing is running on port 80! What can I do?

    So, I just got a new ENUTV-2 USB TV Tuner Box, and it works fine overall. The driver seems to be OK, but the utility provided by encore doesn't seem to be working 100% in win 7. The only real issue is that I can't mute it, or change the volume level. So I'd like to know: Is there good (free) software out there for watching TV? Thanks

    I've got a set of speakers, but one of them doesn't work. Is there any way to get iTunes to output to mono, but with both channels? I'm on Leopard, and going to System Preferences - Sound - Output and sliding the Balance all the way to one side doesn't help, as it doesn't combine the channels.

  • Laptop sleep: How to go into S3 easily?

    Laptop: Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi-3525 OS: Vista When my laptop is plugged in and I close the lid, it goes into S1 sleep. This means that there is still: fan noise (annoying when trying to sleep at night) lots of power consumed (so if I then unplug the laptop and toss it in the bag, by the time I'm at school it's already drained and beeping ominously). What I want is S3 sleep, it solves both problems. I've found a roundabout way to go into S3 sleep: Unplug laptop Close lid (or click Sleep in Start menu) Plug laptop back in if needed The question: How do I force Windows to use always use S3 sleep when I close the lid? One thing I've tried is: dumppo admin minsleep=s3 (dumppo from here) Afterwards running just dumppo admin confirms that minsleep has been set, but closing the lid still goes into S1. Also, after a reboot, minsleep is reset to s1. I think dumppo is incompatible with Vista... MCE Standby Tool was recommended as a Vista-compatible alternative to dumppo, but it doesn't have any effect either. I looked in the BIOS settings, but there are no settings relating to ACPI sleeps/suspends there.

  • Run script when a specific disk/memory card is mounted under OSX

    How do I run a script when a drive is mounted under OSX ? My usecase is that I would like to automatically copy images from my USB memory/harddrive when it is inserted in my USB card reader, and when a DVD or CD is inserted I would like to copy it for storage in my media center. I've tried using Marcopolo but from what I can see it can only detect the presence of a certain USB device, not the presence of specific harddrive.   • Keyboard Navigation of File Open Dialog in Windows 7

    In Windows XP standard File - Open dialog, the top has a "Look In" box. I can press Alt+I to drop down a tree of the disks folders and easily navigate to other folders or network shares. In Windows 7, I can't seem to navigate the File - Open dialog as easily. The best I've been able to muster is to tab 5 times (in Excel 2007, but I assume it's a windows standard), then use arrow keys or use Alt+arrow keys like a browser to get around. It's simply not as good because I can't see the whole tree at once. Is there a way to see the whole folder tree? If not, do you have any other tips for keyboard navigation of the file open dialog in Windows 7?

    I'm trying to set some env variable in OS X 10.6 (/etc/launchd.conf) setenv M2_HOME /usr/share/maven setenv M2 $M2_HOME/bin setenv MAVEN_OPTS '-Xms256m -Xmx512m' M2 and MAVEN_OPTS are not working. I tried with something like setenv MAVEN_OPTS -Xms256m\ -Xmx512m but still it doesn't work. Any idea of what is the correct synthax? Thanks

  • Inserting a very long Excel table into Word

    I have a very long excel (2003) s/sheet with in excess of 600 rows that I want to paste into an MS Word document (also 2003). However, I want to ensure that: 1) The header row appears automatically at the top of each page. 2) The s/sheet automatically formats to the correct page width (the one I have is slightly wider than my Word page). This can obviously be done manually by cutting and pasting each page seperately but this is very laborious and time consuming and I once saw somebody achieve this automatically (maybe with a macro) but have been unable to locate them, or the methodology.   • gnu screen - mouse does not work in nested screen session

    I started a screen session inside another screen session, both on my local machine. This is using cygwin, but I don't think it matters. I have tried via ssh to a real unix machine but the behaviour is the same. Mouse works great in the first screen session, I'm able to open vim with :set mouse=a and I can click to move the cursor or switch tabs, and the mouse wheel scrolls. But in the nested session it does not work, mouse is only useful for selecting terminal text that gets put in the clipboard, but is not able to interact with vim. I want this to work because I usually work with a local screen session, then ssh to a remote server and have a remote screen session running too (hence the nesting) and I like to scroll swiftly in vim by using the mouse wheel. Can anyone tell me why the mouse works in the first layer of screen but not in the second, nested screen session, and how I can make it work? Thanks in advance, Matthew

  • Computer restarts without warning; code bcc116

    Processor: Intel i5 4430 4-Core 4x3Ghz Motherboard: msi h87-g41 Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX760 Power supply: eps-750 cm RAM: 8GB I bought a new assembled gaming PC which worked fine for a few days. Then it started rebooting without warning. After it restarts windows 7 gives me an bbc 116 error code. Apparently it's something to do with my video card, either it overheating or wrong drivers. I've installed the latest driver from Nvidia for my graphics card. Since it's brand new it can't be dust, I'm running it with its lid open to see if the problem persists. I'm also running prime95 now to see if it tells me anything else. Using core temp it tells me that my CPU reaches up to 95° celsius with the blend stress test from prime95. Aaaand it just peaked to 100°. Of course it doesn't reach these temperatures at all while idle/gaming. I'm gonna let prime95 run for a night and to see what happens. Until then does anyone know what I should do next?

    We have a windows file storage (don't ask) and now I want to rsync with the machine from Windows, Mac and Linux. So I installed freeSSHd (login shell is set to C:/cygwin64/bin/sh.exe), set up certificates and testing from Linux the test.dat has 0 bytes: ssh myuser@winmachinename "C:/cygwin64/bin/true.exe" > test.dat Even double checking with actual output works fine: ssh myuser@winmachinename "C:/cygwin64/bin/ls.exe" > test.dat Now, when I call rsync: rsync --progress -avz -e ssh myuser@winmachinename:/c/Users ~/test it fails with: protocol version mismatch -- is your shell clean? (see the rsync man page for an explanation) rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at compat.c(174) [Receiver=3.1.0] As far as reading the docs, this should not happen, when the first test is successful!? I am by now out of ideas - any recommendations how to debug this?   • Can't find newer DLINK Router DIR-400 firmware

    If you're here, it means you also have a Dlink 400 router. I asked DLINK but they didn't answer my question. I asked DLINK support again, but this time no answer (2 weeks later). In DLINK FTP site there is no firmware for DIR-400. Past year, Googling around Russia, I found a FIRMWARE_DIR400_v1.02B03.bin. But I am trying to figure out if is there any update, a 1.03 version or superior. Can anyone tell me why DLINK doesn't show this firmware update on their site, and if this DIR-450 is compatible with mine?
