  • Integrating POP3 client functionality into a C# application?

    I have a web application that requires a server based component to periodically access POP3 email boxes and retrieve emails. The service then needs to process the emails which will involve: Validating the email against some business rules (does it contain a valid reference in the subject line, which user sent the mail, etc.) Analysing and saving any attachments to disk Take the email body and attachment details and create a new item in the database Or update an existing item where the reference matches the incoming email subject line What is the best way to approach this? I really don't want to have to write a POP3 client from scratch, but I need to be able to customize the processing of emails. Ideally I would be able to plug in some component that does the access and retrieval for me, returning arrays of attachments, body text, subject line, etc. ready for my processing... [ UPDATE: Reviews ] OK, so I have spent a fair amount of time looking into (mainly free) .NET POP3 libraries so I thought I'd provide a short review of some of those mentioned below and a few others: Pop3.net - free - works OK, very basic in terms of functionality provided. This is pretty much just the POP3 commands and some base64 encoding, but it's very straight forward - probably a good introduction Pop3 Wizard - commercial / some open source code - couldn't get this to build, missing DLLs, I wouldn't bother with this C#Mail - free - works well, comes with Mime parser and SMTP client, however the comments are in Japanese (not a big deal) and it didn't work with SSL 'out of the box' - I had to change the SslStream constructor after which it worked no problem OpenPOP - free - hasn't been updated for about 5 years so it's current state is .NET 1.0, doesn't support SSL but that was no problem to resolve - I just replaced the existing stream with an SslStream and it worked. Comes with Mime parser. Of the free libraries, I'd go for C#Mail or OpenPOP. I looked at a few commercial libraries: Chillkat, Rebex, RemObjects, JMail.net. Based on features, price and impression of the company I would probably go for Rebex and may in the future if my requirements change or I run into production issues with either of C#Mail or OpenPOP.   • Dual-screen Multimedia Control Suite for Linux (like Screen Monkey)

    I'm looking for some linux software to manage and control a dual monitor/multi screen setup for use in professional-like presentations (ie: monitor1=control, monitor2=projector/audience). I have the dual-monitor configured with my gnome desktop running over both monitors (that's the easy part). What I'm looking for is a neat/seamless way to switch between, say, OpenOffice Impress, DVD Player, VLC live video, Lyricue, other software on monitor2. To have monitor2 shown to the audience and run neat presentations of DVDs, Slideshows, etc. whilst controlling it from monitor1. I can run slideshows, play a DVD on monitor2 (drag & drop VLC on monitor2, and go fullscreen) etc. but this is rather messy in a presentation environment. I found this software: Screen Monkey. Looks like an excellent windows equivalent for what I want to do. Is there anything similar for linux? For Gnome, KDE, anything else X based? Thanks, SamJ

    Hi there, can anyone help? I am having a problem stepping into code which is a website hosted on IIS7. Basically i have a test class which calls a WCF service like so ISecurityService service = new SecurityServiceClient(); MembershipUser membershipUser = null; membershipUser = service.GetMembershipUser("Mark"); // THIS LINE FAILS!!! I get the following error but i have everything enabled as far as i know i.e. <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> Here is the error msg, i would appreciated any feedback..   • jquery ui autocomplete not working in ie8 (until page refresh)

    Hello all, I am using jquery ui autocomplete it is working absolutely fine in all browsers except ie8. I have been doing some testing and there seems to be a strange bug. When I click on a link leading to the relevant page there is the following error generated by ie8 when I start typing in the autocomplete box: 'object doesn't support this property or method' this error points to my development jquery(1.4.2) file at line 4955, char 5 which is the following line: return new window.XMLHttpRequest(); However, if I simply reload the page the autocomplete works. I have added a random bit of data to be called with the autocomplete as I read that ie8 caches it ajax get requests but this does not seem to have solved the problem. Could there be a problem with the timing of the loading of all the relevant files including jquery? If so, how would I fix this? Any other clever ideas?! Andy

  • jQuery Block UI: node is undefined

    I'm close to finishing an app that uses quite a bit of JS. Recently Firebug started throwing an error that says "node is undefined", referring to data.parent = node.parentNode; on line 209 of jQuery blockUI plugin Version 2.31 (06-JAN-2010) @requires jQuery v1.2.3 or later. I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 When I remove the code from my page that triggers the Block UI action, the error is still there. So it does not seem to be an issue in my code but an "error" in the file itself, or perhaps some kind of conflict with another file? For info my code is below. My IDE is highlighting some syntax errors in here but it does that even when there are none. I can do this with ILMerge from the command-line, but I want to integrate this merging of reference assemblies and projects into the Visual Studio project. From my reading, I understand that I can do this through a MSBuild Task or a Target and just add it to a C#/VB.NET Project file, but I can find no specific example since MSBuild is large topic. How do I integrate ILMerge into a Visual Studio (C#/VB.NET) project, which are just MSBuild projects, to merge all referenced assemblies (copy-local=true) into one assembly? How does this tie into a possible ILMerge.Targets file?

I just moved over to Delphi 2007 and now with the same program I get EFCreateError, cannot create file "" I got the error description from MAdexcept 3.0. The situation even become worse when the text alignment is centered. I searched and found that in iphone-sdk-3.2 there are some core-text attributes for underlining a text but no idea how to use that. Besides if I use these my problem would not be solved fully. As I have to draw strikethrough text also. Anybody having idea about this please help.

    I have not seen a single article posted anywhere online that brings together all the settings one would need to do to make this work properly on Windows, so I thought I would post it here. To facilitate failover schemes, a common technique is to use DNS CNAME records (DNS Aliases) for different machine roles. Then instead of changing the Windows computername of the actual machine name, one can switch a DNS record to point to a new host. This can work on Microsoft Windows machines, but to make it work with file sharing the following configuration steps need to be taken. Outline The Problem The Solution Allowing other machines to use filesharing via the DNS Alias (DisableStrictNameChecking) Allowing server machine to use filesharing with itself via the DNS Alias (BackConnectionHostNames) Providing browse capabilities for multiple NetBIOS names (OptionalNames) Register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs) for other Windows functions like Printing (setspn) References 1. The Problem On Windows machines, file sharing can work via the computer name, with or without full qualification, or by the IP Address. By default, however, filesharing will not work with arbitrary DNS aliases. To enable filesharing and other Windows services to work with DNS aliases, you must make registry changes as detailed below and reboot the machine. 2. The Solution Allowing other machines to use filesharing via the DNS Alias (DisableStrictNameChecking) This change alone will allow other machines on the network to connect to the machine using any arbitrary hostname. (However this change will not allow a machine to connect to itself via a hostname, see BackConnectionHostNames below). Edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and add a value DisableStrictNameChecking of type DWORD set to 1. Allowing server machine to use filesharing with itself via the DNS Alias (BackConnectionHostNames) This change is necessary for a DNS alias to work with filesharing from a machine to find itself. This creates the Local Security Authority host names that can be referenced in an NTLM authentication request. To do this, follow these steps for all the nodes on the client computer: To the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0, add new Multi-String Value BackConnectionHostNames In the Value data box, type the CNAME or the DNS alias, that is used for the local shares on the computer, and then click OK. Note: Type each host name on a separate line. Providing browse capabilities for multiple NetBIOS names (OptionalNames) Allows ability to see the network alias in the network browse list. Edit the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and add a value OptionalNames of type Multi-String Add in a newline delimited list of names that should be registered under the NetBIOS browse entries Names should match NetBIOS conventions (i.e. not FQDN, just hostname) Register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs) for other Windows functions like Printing (setspn) NOTE: Should not need to do this for basic functions to work, documented here for completeness. We had one situation in which the DNS alias was not working because there was an old SPN record interfering, so if other steps aren't working check if there are any stray SPN records. You must register the Kerberos service principal names (SPNs), the host name, and the fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) for all the new DNS alias (CNAME) records. If you do not do this, a Kerberos ticket request for a DNS alias (CNAME) record may fail and return the error code KDC_ERR_S_SPRINCIPAL_UNKNOWN. To view the Kerberos SPNs for the new DNS alias records, use the Setspn command-line tool (setspn.exe). The Setspn tool is included in Windows Server 2003 Support Tools. You can install Windows Server 2003 Support Tools from the Support\Tools folder of the Windows Server 2003 startup disk. How to use the tool to list all records for a computername: setspn -L computername To register the SPN for the DNS alias (CNAME) records, use the Setspn tool with the following syntax: setspn -A host/your_ALIAS_name computername setspn -A host/your_ALIAS_name.company.com computername 3.   • Serving static content from cookie less domain and mod_deflate

    I have two domain. One domain with my main website and the other with js/css/etc.. files, static content. mod_deflate is enabled for both domains, but when i run ySlow in FireFox it says none of my static content is compressed. When i bring back the js or css file to my normal domain it gets compressed right. Only when its served from the other domain is it not compressed. Do i have to do some more configuration for this to work? I am using this line in my .htaccess file AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript text/css text/html text/xml text/plain application/x-httpd-php I tried to but the line in my httpd.conf file but it gives me the same results. Is there a dual monitor arm solution that can support the weight of two iMac 27" units (30.5 pounds (13.8 kg)) as well as their width (25.6 inches (65.0 cm)) in a side-by-side landscape configuration? I looked at the Ergotron LX Dual Side by Side but the iMacs appear to exceed the width and weight limit this device is rated for. I'm open to alternate solutions to arms, such as a multi-unit desk stand/mount, but a wall mount is not possible for me at this time. Thanks!

  • How can I get TFS 2010 to build each project to a separate directory?

    In our project, we'd like to have our TFS build put each project into its own folder under the drop folder, instead of dropping all of the files into one flat structure. To illustrate, we'd like to see something like this: DropFolder/ Foo/ foo.exe Bar/ bar.dll Baz baz.dll This is basically the same question as was asked here, but now that we're using workflow-based builds, those solutions don't seem to work. The solution using the CustomizableOutDir property looked like it would work best for us, but I can't get that property to be recognized. I customized our workflow to pass it in to MSBuild as a command line argument (/p:CustomizableOutDir=true), but it seems MSBuild just ignores it and puts the output into the OutDir given by the workflow. I looked at the build logs, and I can see that the CustomizableOutDir and OutDir properties are both getting set in the command line args to MSBuild. I still need OutDir to be passed in so that I can copy my files to TeamBuildOutDir at the end. Any idea why my CustomizableOutDir parameter isn't getting recognized, or if there's a better way to achieve this?

  • Networking Logs for MAC Addresses

    I wanted to ask a multi-part question. Does Comcast Cable Internet services record MAC Addresses of the Router behind the cable modem. I know they record it for the modem itself. But is there a way for the Modem/Comcast to relay and keep logs of the MAC ID of the Router itself? Then does a windows operating system Log the MAC ID of the Router when its connected to it? If so where do I locate and purge this? Please let me know all areas where it is Logged within the operating system. Thank you!

  • F# PowerPack 2.0.0.0 issue: The task ..."…\fslex.exe" is invalid

    I have upgraded F# PowerPack today to the latest 2.0.0.0 and tried to rebuild the MiniCalc sample from here: http://achrissmith.blogspot.com/2010/04/fslex-and-fsyacc-examples-updated.html If I build it in VS 2010 it fails with the message: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\FSharp\1.0\FSharp.PowerPack.targets(32,3): error MSB6004: The specified task executable location "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\fslex.exe" is invalid. If I build it from the command line by MSBuild it complains about missing C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\fslex.exe The problem is kind of “fixed” if I copy fslex and fsyacc to that both directories, so after that I can build from the command line and from VS 2010. But it does not look like a right way to solve the problem. What is the right way? EDIT: The same issue is true for the PowerPack sample from sources: May2010\workyard\tests\LexAndYaccMiniProject. Now (after the trick I have done) it is built fine, too.

    I've been trying to map an object to a database using SQLAlchemy but have run into a snag. Version info if handy: [OS: Mac OSX 10.5.8 | Python: 2.6.4 | SQLAlchemy: 0.5.8] The class I'm going to map: class Student(object): def __init__(self, name, id): self.id = id self.name = name self.preferences = collections.defaultdict(set) self.allocated_project = None self.allocated_rank = 0 def __repr__(self): return str(self) def __str__(self): return "%s %s" %(self.id, self.name) Background: Now, I've got a function that reads in the necessary information from a text database into these objects. The function more or less works and I can easily access the information from the objects. Before the SQLAlchemy code runs, the function will read in the necessary info and store it into the Class. There is a dictionary called students which stores this as such: students = {} students[id] = Student(<all the info from the various "reader" functions>) Afterwards, there is an "allocation" algorithm that will allocate projects to student. It does that well enough. The allocated_project remains as None if a student is unsuccessful in getting a project. SQLAlchemy bit: So after all this happens, I'd like to map my object to a database table. Using the documentation, I've used the following code to only map certain bits. I also begin to create a Session. from sqlalchemy import * from sqlalchemy.orm import * engine = create_engine('sqlite:///:memory:', echo=False) metadata = MetaData() students_table = Table('studs', metadata, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String) ) metadata.create_all(engine) mapper(Student, students_table) Session = sessionmaker(bind=engine) sesh = Session() Now after that, I was curious to see if I could print out all the students from my students dictionary. for student in students.itervalues(): print student What do I get but an error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "~/FYP_Tests/FYP_Tests.py", line 140, in <module> print student File "/~FYP_Tests/Parties.py", line 30, in __str__ return "%s %s" %(self.id, self.name) File "/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.5.8-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/attributes.py", line 158, in __get__ return self.impl.get(instance_state(instance), instance_dict(instance)) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get' I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this issue, if it is an issue.   • "wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003"?

    I get this cryptic error the first time (and only the first time) my view is loaded due to the following line of code: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; } There is a noticeable (~3 – 4 second, even on the simulator) delay due to this that makes my app feel unresponsive. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't find any documentation on it on Apple's site, or any solutions here or on Google. Strangely, the opposite situation happens if I put the line in -viewDidAppear: instead of -viewWillAppear:; that is, instead of printing the error only the first time the keyboard is shown and never again, the error is not printed the first time but every time after. This is causing a major headache for me.

    When c-auto-newline is set to non-nil, it re-indents the current line and inserts a carriage return and then indents the new line. However. I'm using 1TBS indent-style, which means if/else statements are made like this: if (n == 1) { exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } else { perror("n"); } Also, I write do/while write loops like this: do { printf("%d\n", n++); } while (n < 64); As such, while I do want a newline automatically inserted after every opening brace and semicolon, I don't want newlines to be automatically inserted after an if statement or do loop is concluded with a closing brace. How can I have GNU Emacs (23.2.1, *nix) selectively insert newlines like that? Along the same lines, can I have Emacs insert an opening brace, a newline, and a closing brace on another newline, while putting the cursor in the middle of the two braces after closing parentheses following an if statement, function declaration, and the like?
