  I am using Python scripts to edit the table of many shape files. The following script runs fine, but if there are any " marks in the SIT_FULL_S field, the script errors and shuts down. gp.CalculateField_management(fc + "\\Parcels.shp","SIT_FULL_S", "!SIT_FULL_S!.lstrip('0')", "PYTHON") arcgisscripting.ExecuteError: ERROR 000539: Error running expression: "9030 W SR 2 HWY "A"".lstrip('0') <type 'exceptions.SyntaxError'>: invalid syntax (<string>, line 1) Failed to execute (CalculateField). I have two options, create a new script that runs through and deletes all occurances of ", and then run the above script or modify the above script to ignore the " and contiue running. Can anyone help ?

• Repeat over files in a File > Open dialog with Applescript

  In the below script I use an Application other than Finder to launch an "Open" browser and perform a search in it. I've got the window into the state I want, but whatever I try can't access the list of files to repeat over. If anyone can help by adding the code to repeat over that file list and log out the file path of each file it'd be a huge help. • Baffled by PHP escaping of double-quotes in HTML forms

  I have a simple PHP script I use to front-end an SQLite database. It's nothing fancy or complex. But I have noticed from looking at the records in the database that anything I enter in a form-field with double-quotes comes across in the form-processing as though I'd escaped the quotes with a backslash. So when I entered a record with the title: British Light Utility Car 10HP "Tilly" what shows up in the database is: British Light Utility Car 10HP \"Tilly\" I don't know where these are coming from, and what's worse, even using the following preg_replace doesn't seem to remove them: $name = preg_replace('/\\"/', '"', $_REQUEST['kits_name']); If I dump out $name, it still bears the unwanted \ characters.

• Need help in downloading file with header() function

  Hi. I'm trying to explain as best as I can, sorry for my English. I have a list of links, each linked to a php file with an id by parameters (ex. download.php?id=1 or ?id=2 and so on). This file create a new instance of a class witch return the correct header of the files so it displays the save dialog box of the browser. Now I need to check if the files is already downloaded in past (The first time you downloaded it I add a field on the mysql db). This checks go ahead if you haven't download the files, else return false. Here is the problem, when it returns false or something else the browser redirect me to the download.php file, so I get a blank page or what I'm echoing. I need that if the file is already download it show me a js alert for advice ppl. Hope you can understand what i mean. Thanks for help

For example, yy is two-letter year, yyyy is four-letter year, and E is day of week. For example, A SimpleDateFormat initialized with yyyy.MM.dd G 'at' HH:mm:ss z will format a date to something like 2001.07.04 AD at 12:08:56 PDT. I would like to add some pattern letters to SimpleDateFormat. For example, want C to denote Hebrew weekday (??? ?????, ??? ???, ...). What's the right way to extend SimpleDateFormat with these new pattern letters? The only online example I could find seems somewhat complicated. I can live with formatting only, without parsing.

• How would I create a VIM or Vi command to delete all text after a certain character for every line i

  Scenario: I have a text file that has pipe (as in the "|" character) delimited data. Each field of data in the pipe delimited fields can be of variable length, so counting characters won't work (or using some sort of substring function... if that even exists in VIM). Is it possible, using VIM / Vi to delete all data from the second pipe to the end of the line for the entire file? There are approx 150,000 lines, so doing this manually would only be appealing to a masochist... e.g. Change the following lines from: 1111|random sized text 12345|more random data la la la|1111|abcde 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk|la la la la|2222|defgh 3333|random sized text|more random data|33333|ijklmnop to: 1111|random sized text 12345 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk 3333|random sized text I'm sure this can be done somehow... I hope. TIA UPDATE: I should have mentioned that I'm running this on Windows XP, so I don't have access to some of the mentioned *nix commands (CUT is not recognized on Windows).

• Django - raw_id_fields title not refreshing.

  Hi, I am currently having an issue when using the raw_id_field within admin.py in my Django project. My site's admin area has a number of image upload fields for various different model pages which are all ForeignKey fields to an Image model where all images for the site are stored. As the site will eventually be dealing with a large quantity of images (100s, maybe 1000s) the default select box would be unusable. I created various admin.ModelAdmin classes e.g class InfoSlideAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): raw_id_fields=('image',) These change the image selector within my Edit pages from a Select Box to a Raw ID Field. However when I select a different image using this control although the ID of the new image is shown the title from the previous image still displays. Any ideas?

  We all know that we should rather reuse a JDBC PreparedStatement than creating a new instance within a loop. But how to deal with PreparedStatement reuse between different method invocations? Does the reuse-"rule" still count? Should I really consider using a field for the PreparedStatement or should I close and re-create the prepared statement in every invocation? (Of course an instance of such a class would be bound to a Connection which might be a disadvantage) I am aware that the ideal answer might be "it depends". But I am looking for a best practice for less experienced developers that they will do the right choice in most of the cases.

I will keep trying, but meanwhile please let me know how you would approach this?

  I have a list of items that the user can select. I want it to be more user friendly than standard checkboxes so I have seperate div's each with a unique id. When user clicks an item, I use javascript to display a tick on top of that item and change the style to show that it is highlighted. Im trying to work out how I can pass the list of id's when the form is submitted. Remember, if the user unticks an item, it should be removed from the list, I was thinking of using comma seperated values in a hidden text field but couldnt work out how to remove items from the start of the list if they were deselected

  I have a project on going for a TV guide, called mytvguide in the database - I use PHPMyAdmin. This is the structure for one table, which is called tvshow1: Field Type channel varchar(255) date date No airdate time No expiration time No episode varchar(255) setreminder varchar(255) but am not sure how to get DATE, TIME to work with the pagination script (below is the script, which works for the version with DATETIME): http://pastebin.com/6S1ejAFJ However, although the DATETIME one works - it shows programmes that air on the day itself like this: Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 2:35pm "Episode 2" Set Reminder Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 May 26th - 12:50pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder Programme 1 showing on Channel 1 May 26th - 5:55pm "Episode 3" Set Reminder but I'm not quite sure how to replicate that for the fields that use DATE, TIME functions as seen above. I am trying to write a query that will allow me to get all records that have a name. Records that do not have a name have a FullName value of either null or an empty string. How do I get all of the Person records have a FullName? In other words, I want to ignore the records that do not have a FullName.   Hello, Is it possible to do CAD/CAM software without having to use C++? My company developed their software with c/C++ but that was more than 10 years ago. Today,there is a lot of legacy code that switching would force us to get rid of but i was wondering what the actual risks are. We have a lot of mathematical algorithms for toolpath calculations, feature recognition and simulation and 3D Rendering and i was wondering if C# can handles all of that without great performance loss. Is it a utopia to rewrite such algorithms in c# or should that language only deal with UI. We are not talking about game development here (Halo 3 or Call Of Duty) so how much processing does CAD/CAM really need? Can anybody enlighten me on this matter? Most of my colleagues are hardcore C++ programmers and although i program in c++ i love .NET but i am having a hard time selling .NET to them other than basic UI. Does it make sense to consider switching to .NET in such a field, or is it just not a wise idea? Thank you

  I need to synchronize an SQL Server database to Oracle through an Oracle Transparent Gateway. The synchronization is performed in batches, so I need to get the next set of data from the point where I left off. The problem I'm having is that the only field I have in the source, to help me, is a GUID. If it were a number I could just order by it, keep the last one processed and restart the process by getting the records which are my recorded number. This won't work with a GUID. Any ideas?

• Strange IP addresses in tomcat

  Some where I have this in some generic class. public static String getRequestIp (HttpServletRequest request){ String ipaddr = request.getHeader("X-FORWARDED-FOR"); if (ipaddr == null)ipaddr = request.getRemoteAddr(); return ipaddr; } For every request i call that method and in a certain moment i insert a record in a mysql database. In most cases it works normally and i can see a record for every request with a valid ip address in the right field. But sometimes where the IP should be there is something like this. "unknown, 93.186.30.120" or "10.0.1.169, 186.38.84.3" Apache is at the front listening at port 80 and used as proxy to Tomcat that listens at port 8081. My router config would not allow to pass any conection that come by any port other than 80. Any Help? Thanks in advance.

  Hi Guys, I am trying to create a little php script that can make my life a bit easier. Basically, I am going to have 21 text fields on a page where I am going to input 20 different numbers. In the last field I will enter a number let's call it the TOTAL AMMOUNT. All I want the script to do is to point out which numbers from the 20 fields added up will come up to TOTAL AMMOUNT. Example: field1= 25.23 field2= 34.45 field3= 56.67 field4= 63.54 field5= 87.54 .... field20= 4.2 Total Ammount= 81.90 Output: field1+fields3=81.90 Some of the fields might have 0 as value because sometimes I only need to enter 5-15 fields and the maximum will be 20. If someone can help me out with the php code for this, will be greatly appreciated.
