  • Error after switching from .NET 3.5 to 4

    Application.Run(new Main()); This line gives TypeInitializationException was unhandled after I switched from 3.5 to 4 framework. Why is this? Edit: Forgot to mention this is a Winforms C# application. Okay so I have SQLite .NET referenced. I tried this on a project created on .NET 4 by default and didn't give me any error so I assumed it wasn't about SQLite .NET http://sqlite.phxsoftware.com/ Please note v2.0.50727 this is the runtime version of the DLL which seems to be causing the problem. It has to be cross platform (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera).   • Getting list of all existing vtables.

    In my application I have quite some void-pointers (this is because of historical reasons, application was originally written in pure C). In one of my modules I know that the void-pointers points to instances of classes that could inherit from a known base class, but I cannot be 100% sure of it. Therefore, doing a dynamic_cast on the void-pointer might give problems. Possibly, the void-pointer even points to a plain-struct (so no vptr in the struct). I would like to investigate the first 4 bytes of the memory the void-pointer is pointing to, to see if this is the address of the valid vtable. I know this is platform, maybe even compiler-version-specific, but it could help me in moving the application forward, and getting rid of all the void-pointers over a limited time period (let's say 3 years). Is there a way to get a list of all vtables in the application, or a way to check whether a pointer points to a valid vtable, and whether that instance pointing to the vtable inherits from a known base class?

  • iPhone - Change app icon pointed to by info.plist within the application?

    Is there any way to change the 47x47 PNG, pointed to within info.plist, for the iPhone springboard icon from within code? I understand I can add a translation and change the springboard icon per language that the iPhone supports via a changed info.plist per language, but I would like to change the springboard icon for my iPhone app based on a user preference within the app. Any ideas? I haven't tried this, but can a file be copied over another within an app bundle? Could I ship with info.plist pointing to "base.png" then replace "base.png" with another PNG I package with my app from within code? Thanks. --Batgar

  • wxWidgets - Add items to sizer via DLL

    I have a GUI set up with wxWidgets (C++, MSVC) and part of the functionality is to add elements to the GUI via DLL's. Essentially, I would be passing in a sizer to the DLL which will in turn add the elements based on what is in the DLL. Could someone just point me in the right direction on how to get the DLL set up? I have looked, but don't see anything that's similar to what I'm looking for. The programming of the elements is fine with me, I just need to understand how to structure the DLL programming. Help appreciated.

My problem is that I cannot copy and paste from one property entry to another, and I cannot type in the fields manually as well. Is there a specific property that will enable editing inside the FileNameEditor.     I have read McCarthy's 1960 paper on LISP and found no reference to anything that's similar to user-defined macros or normal order evaluation. I was wondering when marcos first appeared in programming language history (and also in Lisp history): When was the idea of user-defined code transformation (before interpretation or compilation) first described (theoretically)? What was the first programming language implementation to have Lisp-like macros (by "Lisp-like" I mean "using a readable Turing-complete language to do code-transformation")? (including non-Lisps -- Forth for example is quite old, but I'm not sure if the first Forth implementation already had "IMMEDIATE") What was the first Lisp dialect to have macros? Thank you!

  • exclude private property from print_r or object?

    Basically I am using Code Igniter, and the Code Igniter base class is huge, when I print_r some of my objects they have the base class embedded inside them. this makes it a pain to get the information I actually wanted (the rest of the properties). So, I am wondering if there is a way I can hide, or remove the base class object?     Hello everybody, I have to populate javascript code in html layout (hidden fields, method params) with string data from model. Html.Encode is not appropriate for my task because it encodes ' symbol, bypass : (that ruines object attributes declaration) and so on. In what programming language this is possible ? def lab(input) input = ['90'] end x = ['80'] lab(x) puts x #=> value of x has changed from ['80'] to ['90] I have written this in ruby but in ruby I get the final x value of 80 because ruby is pass-by-reference. However what is passed is the reference to the data held by x and not pointer to x itself same is true in JavaScript.   • Application disappears after starting - C++ linking managed code dll

    Hello, we have a problem with our applications. We have recently upgraded our toolchain to Visual Studio 2010 and friends, it all works fine on Windows Vista + Windows 7 developer machines and Windows 7 customer machines. (all x86) Today we did a first installation to a client PC running Windows XP SP3 x86, and all applications linking managed code dll do not work. After starting the .exe seemingly nothing happens, no window pops up, no memory gets eaten, no task shows in task manager, nothing, nada. Event log is empty, everything is just as if the application returned to the OS right after the start. I am at loss about this, I really don't know how should I start even debugging this problem. I don't want to install VS2010 and everything onto a Windows XP box, I'd like to try something less time intensive first. This all is happening just to native C++ apps that link managed c++ DLL. Pure managed C# apps do work. Pure native C++ apps do work.

  • ant support for dynamic target

    I previous saw some similar questions on stackoverflow but didn't see any solution. I guess the answer could be impossible and I am trying to see who can provide me this confirmation. AFAIK, an ant project contains several targets and each target may have several tasks. There is an task MacroDef that defines a sequential of `things' (tasks I suppose?). I tried to put target inside this block but ant complains the name of the target is missing (I am using the attribute of the macrodef to generate the name of the target). So it could be a dead end. Then I found that by using a task `script', we have access to the Project and can even call addTarget/AddOrReplaceTarget from there. But it seems that the targets I create there have no impact on the running targets. Does that mean ant doesn't support manipulating dependencies at target runtime? Is there any way to generate these targets before ant start building the dependency graph?

  • Learning C++ from AS3

    I'm a decent AS3 programmer. I work in games, and that is my reason for programming. While there is much I can accomplish with Adobe AIR, my understanding at this point is that learning C++ is probably a good direction to take. I would learn a lot of valuable lower level programming if I needed it down the road, and I would have an easier time learning other C oriented languages. I see a lot of information for people looking to learn AS3 who know C++, but not the other way around. Why C++? Cross platform compatibility is important to me, so I'm not particularly interested in C# or Objective-C at this junction. I'm also aware of HaXe, and while I love the concept, after doing some research I'm worried about investing a lot of time into something so recent with limited learning resources and documentation. I'm looking for advice and resources (books, articles) related to this topic. Thanks in advance!

  • Web and stand-alone apps development tendency

    There is a strong tendency of making web apps and even seems that very soon a lot of features will be available online so that for every day use people will have all necessary software free online and they will not need to install any software locally. Only specific (professional) tools that usually people don’t use at home will not be available as a web app. So my question, how do you imagine selling software that was necessary for everyday use and was not free (seems they can't make money any more by selling their product – no need of those products). And what disadvantages have web apps, that is to say, what is bad to use software online compared with having the same software locally (please list)? Please do not consider this question not connected with programming, as I really would like to have a little statistics from professional programmers who are aware from nowday’s tendency of software and programming.     i have recently purchased an AVR USB programmer from robokits.co.in, was trying to program atmeg8 using AVR studio4 and i get the following when i click on the program options: a problem occurred when executing the command. make sure u are using the correct programming method. current mode is ISP verify that the device is placed in the correct socket, and that the ISP cable is connected properly.check that the programming frequency specified in the main page is well below 1/4th of the clock frequency of the device. i have tried all that i could think of, i have checked the connections and the freq is below 1/4th of the device. but that doesn't solve this problem i have made the circuit for blinking LEDs program please help me out see the image for details thanking you

  • Which "platform" should we use for a notifier-component?

    Hi all We need to develop a notifier component. What it will do, is to scan a database at given intervals (say, every 15th minute), to see if any notifications needs to be sent out. We're running on Windows, and so we've been looking into either a Windows Service or the Windows Task Scheduler. Our biggest concern is the robustness of our implementation. If it, for some reason, crashes, can it be auto-restarted the next interval? Can we use custom logging logic, to take care of crashes? I'd like an educated guess on what to use here :) Feel free to say if you need additional info, to make such a guess.. Props will be given if someone could make a short listing of the pros n cons of a windows service vs. the windows task scheduler. Also, it should be noted, that we aren't set on either of these, so if you have any alternatives, please, do post away. Thanks in advance :)

  • Another memory leak question

    Hello My application keeps running for 4 to 6 hours, During this time there is no contineous increase in memory or anything similar. Then after 4 to 6 hours i start getting EOutofMemory Exceptions. Even still at that time there is only 900MB out of 3GB RAM is used as per task manager. And application itself is not using more then 200MB . Then why i am getting EOoutofMEmory error ? Does it mean that memory leak is not necessarily visible in task manager ? Regagards

    Is it possible to use a converter the "wrong" way around? In other words: can I swap source and target? Here's an example: I created a simple IValueConverter called NullableDecimalToStringConverter which converts an input if "" into null and a number into decimal. I use it to bind a TextBox in my WPF view to a decimal? property in my ViewModel. In another context I'd like to convert a NullableDecimal into a String in the same way... Is it possible to simply use the existing NullableDecimalToStringConverter inverted? One method is to use the parameter of the converter to tell the converter which way it should convert. But is there a .NET build in way to do such a thing? Another way would be to build a base class with both conversion methods and two separate converter which call the base class methods...

  • inheriting scope from a has_many relationship

    I am using ruby on rails 3.1 and have 2 models, an event and a group. Each event has_many groups, but has to have at least one "master" group, where the column :is_master = true Class Group < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :users belongs_to :event scope :master, where (:is_master => true) end Class Event< ActiveRecord::Base has_many :groups def master_group groups.master end end I want to be able to default all properties of the master group to the event, so for example, event.users.count should be the same as event.master_group.users.count. Is there any way to do something like this? Can I do a has_many :through = master_group? Am I approaching this the wrong way? Thanks!
