• Amusing or Sad? Network Solutions

  When I got sick my email ended up in every drug sellers email list. Some days I get over 200 emails selling everything from Viagra to Xanax. Either they don't know what my condition is or they are telling me you are a goner, might as well chill-ax and have a good time. In order to cut down on the mail being downloaded I thought I would add all of the Junk email senders from Outlook to my Network Solution mail server. Much to my amazement I could not find that import Spammers button, so I submitted a tech support request. Here is the response: Thank you for contacting Network Solutions Customer Service Department. We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible. One of the first ways we can demonstrate our commitment to this goal is to quickly and efficiently handle your recent request. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. With regard to your concern, please be advised that we cannot import blocked senders in to you e-mail servers. An alternative option is for you to create a Custom Filter that filters unwanted e-mails. To create a Custom Filter: Open a Web browser (e.g., Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.). Type mail.[domain name].[ext] in the address line. Login to your Network Solutions email account. Click on the Configuration left menu tab. Click on the Custom Filter link. Type the rule name. blah, blah, blah Basically add them one at a time. "We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible." No you are not. You are trying to squeeze every nickle you can out of me. "With regard to your concern, please be advised that we cannot import blocked senders in to you e-mail servers." Maybe I should apply for a job to write those ten complicated lines of code... Maybe I should question my choice of vendors, because if they truly "cannot" then they are to stupid to have my business. It is both amusing and sad. I'll be posting this in every forum I am a member of.

• Sending and receiving async over multiprocessing.Pipe() in Python

  I'm having some issues getting the Pipe.send to work in this code. What I would ultimately like to do is send and receive messages to and from the foreign process while its running in a fork. • Android App Build system differences between Eclipse and Ant?

  The Eclipse build for my 1.6 application project is succeeding and the Ant build is failing. I'm looking for help on why they aren't behaving the same way. We are developing on Mac OSX 10.5.8 with Eclipse 3.5 against SDK 1.6 + Google APIs. There are no setting changes in Eclipse, either at workspace or project level. Similarly, our ant is also a vanilla- flavored unmodified installation of 1.7.1. JDK is 1.5.0_22. The CLASSPATH environment variable is not set. JAVA_HOME is /Library/Java/ Home The application was initially created by a team member using the Eclipse plugins. The application references two jar files, one of which has a dependency on javax.xml.bind.annotation.XmlSeeAlso, which is not defined anywhere in our code or in android.jar. The other jar file has an explicit dependency on android.jar. I generated the Ant build file using android update. The Eclipse project builds an apk and runs the application in the emulator. I think this is incorrect behavior. The Android ant project fails to build. I think this is correct behavior. MyClass.java:98: cannot access javax.xml.bind.annotation.XmlSeeAlso [javac] file javax/xml/bind/annotation/XmlSeeAlso.class not found Any ideas as to why the two build methods are behaving differently? • Simple javascript problem in ie6 and ie7

  I have a very simple function that takes a list of comma separated (x,y) points and imports them into a graph. I have FF, Chrome and IE8 installed. I use IETester to test for IE6 and IE7. // Import Data this.Import = function(data) { alert("Data in: "+data); var d; // Make sure the first and the last are start/ending parenthesis if ( (data[0] != '(') || (data[data.length-1] != ')') ) { alert("After if: "+data[0]+" "+data[data.length-1]); return false; } ... In Chrome, FF and IE8, I don't see the "After if:" alert. In IE6 and IE7, I see the following two alerts: Data in: (52,16),(100,90) After if: undefined undefined The "Data in" alert matches in all browsers. Any ideas?

  Hi! Im using NSXMLParser to dissect a xml package, I'm receiving &apos inside the package text. I have the following defined for the xmlParser: [xmlParser setShouldResolveExternalEntities: YES]; The following method is never called - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundExternalEntityDeclarationWithName:(NSString *)entityName publicID:(NSString *)publicID systemID:(NSString *)systemID The text in the field before the &apos is not considered by the parser. Im searching how to solve this, any idea??? • help with making a password checker in java

  Hello, I am trying to make a program in Java that checks for three specific inputs. It has to be 1. At least 7 characters. 2. Contain both upper and lower case alphabetic characters. 3. Contain at least 1 digit. So far I have been able to make it check if there is 7 characters, but I am having trouble with the last two. What should I put in my loop as an if statement to check for digits and make it upper and lower case. Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

  I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble. However, the code that uses a variable which contains the precomputed value for the loop limit is significantly slower than either of the others. I'm not surprised that accessing a variable should be slower that using a literal but why does code that looks like it should be using two multiply instructions on every iteration of the loop so comparable in performance to a literal? Could it be that because literals are the only thing being multiplied, the Java compiler is optimizing out the multiplication and using a precomputed literal?

  Hello, I know we need a better solution but we need to get this done this way for right now. We have a long import process that's fired when you click start import button on a aspx web page. It takes a long time..sometimes several hours. I changed the timeout and that's fine but I keep getting a connection server reset error after about an hour. I'm thinking it's the asp.net lifecycle and I'd like to know if there are settings in IIS I can change to make this lifecycle last longer.

  Hi all, I've an Enum class public enum MyEnum{ ABC; } than my 'Mick' class has this property private Map<MyEnum, OtherObj> myMap; I've this spring xml configuration. <util:map id="myMap"> <entry key="ABC" value-ref="myObj" /> </util:map> <bean id="mick" class="com.x.Mick"> <property name="myMap" ref="myMap" /> </bean> and this is fine. I'd like to replace this xml configuration with Spring annotations. Do you have any idea on how to autowire the map? The problem here is that if I switch from xml config to the @Autowired annotation (on the myMap attribute of the Mick class) Spring is throwing this exception nested exception is org.springframework.beans.FatalBeanException: Key type [class com.MyEnum] of map [java.util.Map] must be assignable to [java.lang.String] Spring is no more able to recognize the string ABC as a MyEnum.ABC object.   I have a panel with GridLayout But when I'm trying to run the program, only the first button out of 100 is shown. Futhermore, the rest appear only when I move the cursor over them. What's wrong with it?   I need to create program that creates a XML schema like below using System.Xml.XmlSchema namespace I'm using the XmlSchemaComplexType to MyString and MyInteger but I can't seem to find a way to set the extension to base string and int respectively. • objective-c default init method for class?

  Hello, I have two differing methods for initializing my objective-c class. One is the default, and one takes a configuration parameter. Now, I'm pretty green when it comes to objective-c, but I've implemented these methods and I'm wondering if there's a better (more correct/in good style) way to handle initialization than the way I have done it. Meaning, did I write these initialization functions in accordance with standards and good style? It just doesn't feel right to check for the existence of selfPtr and then return based on that. Below are my class header and implementation files. Also, if you spot anything else that is wrong or evil, please let me know.
