    How can I check what objects, tools, variables, anything... are used from .NET 2.0 in a C# application. How can I get a C# application run without .NET 2.0 ? UPDATE: sorry, I didn't clarify enought. Here's my situation: I have developed a pretty simple application in C#: embeded browser which displayes static webpages with an option of searching inside of these html pages. I'm using simple textbox, buttons components for this. The application will be distribuited for people wich have very old PCs, even with windows 95. I would like the app to be runable on it, or at least on win 98, without telling the people to install .NET 2.0, as the users don;t really have PC usage skills :) .

  • Better alternatives to know whether a control is valid in javascript?

    I want to know whether a control is valid or not in javascript. Is there a direct client side API available in Asp.Net which can tell me whether a control is valid or not? Eg. If I have 2 validators attached to a textbox, I need a function that can tell me whether the textbox is valid or not. If even 1 validator is not valid then it should return false. I can't seem to find a function that can give me this. Here is a little helper that I wrote which does the job but is inefficient: function isControlValid(control) { for (i = 0; i < Page_Validators.length; i++) { var validator = Page_Validators[i]; var controlId = validator.controltovalidate; if ($(control).attr('id') == controlId && validator.isvalid == false) { return false; } } return true; } Anybody has any better alternatives?

    Hi, I'm looking for a way to submit information captured in a JQuery Dialog to the server in ASP.Net. I originally thought it would work with a 'hidden' asp button, but the click doesn't seem to be submitting the form.     Our logs show hundreds of these errors after our deployment if users are on the site. Anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Notes: We are using msdeploy, IIS 6 I recently noticed that our web server's time is about 10 minutes behind the real time, I think that may have something to do with it. If I log into our site, seems like any file that depends on a WebResource or ScriptResource type file doesn't look right. Seems to fix itself after an IIS reset

  • .NET Framework - When to Upgrade?

    I’m faced with a challenge of leading two (currently) separate .NET development groups with different development strategies. One group is developing on the .NET Framework 2.0 (with maybe a few applications on 3.5). The other group immediately adopts any new framework that comes out, and begins coding any new applications with it (they are running 2.0-4.0 applications). For this last group, applications written in an earlier version than the latest framework do not get upgraded. What is the current school of thought when it comes to a company developing web applications on when to adopt a new framework, and whether to migrate applications built on previous versions to the latest framework or not? Years ago the thought was to wait until the technology became mainstream - but that doesn't seem to apply much now with .NET.

  • parsing command option with default values and range constrains in C

    Hi, I need to parse command line arguments in C. My arguments are basically int or float with default values and range constrains. I've started to implement something that look like this: option_float(float* out, int argc, char* argv, char* name, description, float default_val, int is_optional, float min_value, float max_value) which I call for example with: float* pct; option_float(pct, argc, argv, "pct", "My super percentage option", 50, 1, FALSE, 0, 100) however I don't want to reinvent the wheel ! My objective is to have error checking of range constrains, throw an error when the option is not optional and is not set. And generate the help message usually given by usage() function. The usage text would look like this: --pct My super percentage option (default : 50). Should be in [0, 100] I've started with getopt but it is too limited for what I want to do and I feel it still requires me to write too much code for a simple usecase like this. thanks

Is there an easy way to: return 304 "Not Modified" from action; include "Last-Modified" time stamp in the response. I use return Content('my data'); for action result.     My company recently upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8. My site does not render properly. I wanted to make sure my .net version was fixed before I started to try to fix a problem. I think my web.config file says i'm using 3.5, but if I get an error when running the app I get this: Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3603; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3082 Why does it say 2.0? rather than 3.5? How do i change this? (using visual studio 2008, running the site locally) Thanks in advance!

    I've got an input field in a form that needs a date value. I'm using jQuery UI's datepicker for the calendar and I've set a range for it. However, the user can override that by typing a different date in the input field. How can I specify a date range for the field with jQuery validation? All I see with jQuery is that you can only specify that the field be a date type. Can I create min and max values that work with dates?

  • why a .net 1.1 code gets compiled in 2.0 and throws an error?

    Hi I have a web projects which is build in VS2003/1.1 framework and deployed in a webserver with IIS setting specified to 1.1 framework.lets say project X I also have another web project which is build with VS2008/2.0. IIS setting - ASP version 2.0 is selected and all pages are assigned to run with 2.0* dlls. Lets say project Y Now the problem seem to be when I hit project x, sometimes it throws errors like "error BC30456: 'Initialize Culture' is not a member of 'ASP.**" During troubleshooting this issue, I browsed through 2.0 Temporary ASP.Net files "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\" and found temp files generated for project X. (HUH?) How/why 1.1 project gets compiled in 2.0 only when it errors out.( or we could put it this way that it errors out every time it gets compiled in 2.0 which it is not supposed to) I'm confused as to why this is happening when project X has nothing to do with .net 2.0.

I have like that : Set cur_sheet = Worksheets("Sheet2") Set Rng = cur_sheet.Range("A1", "C1523") For Each cell In Rng.Cells a=1 next cell if there is row 370 that I have error message " Run time error 94" Invalid use of Null So I do not know what can I change. This row should be ok, filled with text. Why this FOR is not working properly and change range !! ? 370 rows are proceesed correctly, than it is error. Do you have any ideas ?

  • jQuery slider - set background color to show desired range

    Howdy, I'm setting up a Filament Group jQuery UI slider and using it in a gradebook. We need to allow teachers to set a desired background range (to show the desirable values vs. the actual value for a given grade). I'm hoping to set a shaded area (as shown in this picture) that would indicate to people viewing the slider which values are desirable. If the handle is within the desired ranges, then the value is satisfactory. If the handle is out of the background shaded range, then some changes may need to happen. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? Based on what I've experimented with using Firebug, it looks like a <div class="ui-slider"> is setup, but the values inside of it don't seem to allow setting background-colors (only the div allows for that).   • Can I stagger UpdatePanel updates in .NET?

    I have a situation in which I select an account and I want to bring back its details. This is a single UpdatePanel round trip and its quite quick. In addition, I need to bring back some transactional information which is from a much bigger table and takes a couple of seconds for the query to come back. Ideally, I would like to put this into a second update panel and update this additional information once it has been received, but after the first update panel has updated i.e. the user sees: Change account See account details (almost instant) See transactional info (2 seconds later) The only way I can think of doing this is to use javascript to cause a SECOND postback once the account details have been retrieved to get the transaction information. Is there a better way?

  • Cookies NULL On Some ASP.NET Pages (even though it IS there!)

    Hi folks I'm working on an ASP.NET application and I'm having difficulty in understanding why a cookie appears to be null. On one page (results.aspx) I create a cookie, adding entries every time the user clicks a checkbox. When the user clicks a button, they're taken to another page (graph.aspx) where the contents of that cookie is read. The problem is that the cookie doesn't seem to exist on graph.aspx. The following code returns null: Request.Cookies["MyCookie"]; The weird thing is this is only an issue on our staging server. This app is deployed to a production server and it's fine. It also works perfectly locally. I've put debug code on both pages: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); foreach (string cookie in Request.Cookies.AllKeys) { sb.Append(cookie.ToString() + "<br />"); } this.divDebugOutput.InnerHtml = sb.ToString(); On results.aspx (where there are no problems), I can see the cookies are: MyCookie __utma __utmb __utmz _csoot _csuid ASP.NET_SessionId __utmc On graph.aspx, you can see there is no 'MyCookie' __utma __utmb __utmz _csoot _csuid ASP.NET_SessionId __utmc With that said, if I take a look with my FireCookie, I can see that the same cookie does in fact exist on BOTH pages! WTF?!?!?!?! (ok, rant over :-) ) Has anyone seen something like this before? Why would ASP.NET claim that a cookie is null on one page, and not null on another?
