Need some serious help with self join issue.

Well as you may know, you cannot index a view with a self join. Well actually even two joins of the same table, even if it's not technically a self join. A couple of guys from microsoft came up with a work around. But it's so complicated I don't understand it!!! How do I use a command line tool to install .net 4 to IIS

I'm trying to deploy my WCF RIA services application to our in-house server for testing. I've been following the instructions and comments from this blog site: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2009/12/10/tips-to-deploy-ria-services-troubleshoot.aspx At the end someone points to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1528324/how-to-solve-a-http-error-404-3-not-found-error I've been trying to run that same tool with .net 4.0 but it keeps giving me an error: [Warning]The HTTP namespace reservation already exists. I am running the version of the exe that I found inside of C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006 There is also C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation that has (what I assume is) the same exe in it, and I can use it just fine. I've tried to un-install the 3.0 version before installing the 4.0 version, but I am still getting the same warning and failure. Has anyone successfully done this with .net 4.0?

Convert Decimal to ASCII

I'm having difficulty using reinterpret_cast. Before I show you my code I'll let you know what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to get a filename from a vector full of data being used by a MIPS I processor I designed. Basically what I do is compile a binary from a test program for my processor, dump all the hex's from the binary into a vector in my c++ program, convert all of those hex's to decimal integers and store them in a DataMemory vector which is the data memory unit for my processor. I also have instruction memory. So When my processor runs a SYSCALL instruction such as "Open File" my C++ operating system emulator receives a pointer to the beginning of the filename in my data memory. So keep in mind that data memory is full of ints, strings, globals, locals, all sorts of stuff. When I'm told where the filename starts I do the following: Convert the whole decimal integer element that is being pointed to to its ASCII character representation, and then search from left to right to see if the string terminates, if not then just load each character consecutively into a "filename" string. Do this until termination of the string in memory and then store filename in a table. My difficulty is generating filename from my memory. To achieve this I can use 'ItemAdding' event handler as mentioned in the below link. http://weblogs.asp.net/vikram/archive/2008/12/24/sharepoint-using-event-handler-to-make-a-column-unique.aspx Now I have a Doubt: Suppose that two user tries to add list Item in the list with the same column value(which requires unique value) at the same Time. will ItemAdding event would be fired at the same time for both call? If so then there is a possibility that two items having same value in the column. Please confirm.

Where would you document standardized complex data that is passed between many objects and methods?

Hi All, I often find myself with fairly complex data that represents something that my objects will be working on. For example, in a task-list app, several objects might work with an array of tasks, each of which has attributes, temporal expressions, sub tasks and sub sub tasks, etc. One object will collect data from web forms, standardize it into a format consumable by the class that will save them to the database, another object will pull them from the database, put them in the standard format and pass them to the display object, or the update object, etc. The data itself can become a fairly complex series of arrays and sub arrays, representing a 'task' or list of tasks. For example, the below might be one entry in a task list, in the format that is consumable by the various objects that will work on it. Normally, I just document this in a file somewhere with an example. However, I am thinking about the best way to add it to something like PHPDoc, or another standard doc system. Where would you document your consumable data formats that are for many or all of the objects / methods in your app? Setting marker title in Google Maps API 3 using jQuery

Hi, I am having a couple of problems with Google Maps and jQuery. Wondered if anyone can help with the smaller of the two problems and hopefully it will help me to fixing the bigger one. I want to display info about each venue when clicked, however using my code above it just puts all info in one box when clicked, not individually. Hoping it is a simple fix! Hoping once I fix this I can work out a way to get the info window displaying if I hover over the div in the html.

How to customize OOTB workflow emails

How can I make simple format-type customizations to ALL OOTB workflow related emails? I have found that many pre-Sharepoint 2010 posts indicated that OOTB workflow emails are in fact 'alerts', and therefore OOTB workflow emails could be customized using the same technique which is: making a customized version of alerttemplates.xml and even using IAlertNotifyHandler to intercept all alert emails. However, it seems that OOTB workflow and workflow task emails are not affected by changes to my customalerttemplates.xml file (which I do follow with stsadm updatealerttemplates, iisreset, and timer service restart). Why are my Opteron cores running at only 75% capacity each? (25% CPU idle)

We've just taken delivery of a powerful 32-core AMD Opteron server with 128Gb. We have 2 x 6272 CPU's with 16 cores each. We are running a big long-running java task on 30 threads. We have the NUMA optimisations for Linux and java turned on. Our Java threads are mainly using objects that are private to that thread, sometimes reading memory that other threads will be reading, and very very occasionally writing or locking shared objects. We can't explain why the CPU cores are 25% idle. I had trouble finding a clear explanation of what 'top' means by "idle" versus "wait", but I get the impression that "idle" means "no more threads that need to be run" but this doesn't make sense in our case. We're using a "Executors.newFixedThreadPool(30)". There are a large number of tasks pending and each task lasts for 10 seconds or so. I suspect that the explanation requires a good understanding of NUMA. Is the "idle" state what you see when a CPU is waiting for a non-local access? If not, then what is the explanation?

Do you have some advice for me? I have most of the data on that disk elsewhere, but I've put a lot of hours into sorting and merging it to this disk, so I would prefer to getting this disk up and running again, without formatting it anew. I don't think that the hardware is damaged since the disk is only a few months and since I can't see any I/O errors in the dmesg output. This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. ASP.NET with VS 2008 How to Run Root "/" with Local Web Server

I want to use the built-in web server for VS 2008 and have it run my web-site project as the top level root "/". When the the web-site project node is selected, right click never gives me an option to select a property-grid like that shown under step 3. Nor could I find another way in the menu or tool bar to get the property-grid. I don't know if the UI difference I'm seeing has to do with me using VS 2008 and the instructions are for VS 2005 or what? How do I get the web-site property-grid for VS 2008, or is there an alternative way to get the root setup I want?

How to efficiently replace characters in XML document in Java?

I'm looking for a neat and efficient way to replace characters in XML document. There is a replacement table defined for almost 12.000 UTF-8 characters, most of them are to be replaced by single characters, but some must be replaced by two or even three characters (e.g. Greek theta should become TH). The documents can be bulky (100MB+). How to do it in Java? I came up with the idea of using XSLT, but I'm not too sure if this is the best option.

App crashes when adding array data to table cells

I am trying to create a table view that loads a number of tweets into the table (one per cell etc). I am using NSXMLParser to get the information and have got as far as creating an array with the selection of tweets that I want. However, when I try to add them to the table cells, the app crashes on the line: cell.textLabel.text = cellValue; An NSLog before this shows in the console that the app is getting the correct data, so I am a bit stumped as to why this isn't working. Cakephp Localization, Cannot Change language when DEFAULT_LANGUAGE is set

I am confused :) I'm using the p18n component in cakephp found here: http://www.palivoda.eu/2008/04/i18n-in-cakephp-12-database-content-translation-part-2/ This component requires me to set in core.php the following constant: define("DEFAULT_LANGUAGE", 'eng') However when this is set I cannot change the language using: Configure::write('Config.language', 'eng'); At the moment, into my knowledge, the only way to change the locale of my static content is the use of the Configure::write. But for the dynamic content to change through the use of the p28n component I must have the DEFINE_LANGUAGE constant set to a value. This is all very confusing. Any help will be much appreciated.

How can I avoid Windows 8.1 resetting my font size?

I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop, which has a 15.6" screen with resolution 1366x768. I measured the screen with a ruler and calculated its DPI, which is 101. Therefore, I have set the scaling to 105%. However, when I change to an external monitor, which is a huge one with resolution 1920x1080 and DPI 93, I need to change the scaling to 97% but when I change the DPI back and forth, my font sizes have get resetted. I prefer using font sizes 14 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 13 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. However, as my laptop screen is too small, in order to make my apps fit on screen, I use font sizes 12 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 11 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. I don't know why I can't resize the window to make it larger than my screen in Windows (but it is possible in Kubuntu), therefore, some parts of my apps cannot be shown with my preferred font size. I have tried changing both the DPI and the font size by using .reg files. However, on my laptop screen, after I applied the file, signed out and in, the DPI setting changed, but the font sizes were resetted to tiny, and I had to apply the same file, signed out and in again to get the correct font size. The situation is even worse on my external monitor. After I applied the file, signed out and in, both the DPI setting and the font sizes were resetted to their default values, which were 96 DPI (the physical DPI as measured by dividing the resolution by the physical size is 93) and font size 9, which is totally unacceptable. How can I write the .reg files such that the settings can be correctly applied with a single sign in?

MVC - Loading DLL programmactically

I'm trying to implement a plugable architecture in asp.net MVC. I have based my modules on the following article - http://www.wynia.org/wordpress/2008/12/aspnet-mvc-plugins. I have a DLL that contains a simple controller, and a view. The view is an embedded resource within the DLL. The problem I'm having is, if I drop the DLL in the bin directory of my MVC application manually, then everything works perfectly i.e. the assembly loads correctly. But when I copy the DLL from a file upload input box (via a web form) into the bin directoy, I get an error (The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.) when trying to load the assembly. I use the same DLL, what could the problem be?

encoding of =1 in emails

Hi folks, I have probably a stupid problem. In a script I generate a URL with GET parameters, something like 'www.mydomain.com/index.php?item=1234'. This URL will be sent by PHP through mail() in an UTF-8 encoding (the scriptfile itself also is utf-8). Now each time I have the GET-Parameter with two numbers after the '=' the URL in the email looks like 'www.mydomain.com/index.php?item?34' with a rectangle instead of '=12'. I am sure there is an easy way to fix this? Thanks in advance, Maenny
