• How to display NotifyIcon and SSDP Service running during AutoLogon

  I've got an application (that is targetting .Net Framework 2.0) that is running on startup of the System, and I'm trying to get a NotifyIcon to display. When my program starts up when a user either Runs it normally or is started as a child process after the system has already logged on everything is fine. If my application starts up as the system is performing an AutoLogon using POSReady2009 (basically XP with Single User set). Then the NotifyIcon never becomes active. If you subsequently check (in a timer) the .Visible of the Icon at any point later it always reports that it is visible = true. If you disable the SSDPSrv and restart the Computer, the Icon displays correctly. I have a sneaking suspicion this is related to .Net 3.5sp1 installed over the top of a .Net 2 system. Is there some process that I should be following to ensure that my NotifyIcon is always available to the user. I have setup RegisterWindowMessage("TaskbarCreated") but I don't get this message called, except when you forcilbly Kill Explorer.exe and restart it. Even so, a NotifyIcon interally registers for these notifications anyway, so it shouldn't be required. I'm happy to stall the startup of my program, but once the program starts up, I expect that the icon shows correctly. If there is a KB article that I cannot find detailing this I'd be happy with that too.

• Error displaying a WinForm in Design mode with a custom control on it.

  I have a UserControl that is part of a Class library. I reference this project from my solution. This adds a control from the referenced project to my toolbox. I add tghe control to a form. Everything looks good, I compile all and run. Perfect... But when I close the .frm with the control on it and re-open it, I get this error. The code continues to run. It may have something to do with namespaces. The original namespace was simply "Design" and this was ambiguous and conflicting so i decided to rename it. I think that's when my problems began. • How is jQuery so fast?

  Hey, I have a rather large application which, on the admin frontend, takes a few seconds to load a page because of all the pageviews that it has to load into objects before displaying anything. Its a bit complex to explain how the system works, but a few of my other questions explains the system in great detail. The main difference between what they say and the current system is that the customer frontend no longer loads all the pageviews into objects when a customer first views the page - it simply adds the pageview to the database and creates an object in an unsynchronised list... to put it simply, when a customer views a page it no longer loads all the pageviews into objects; but the admin frontend still does. I have been working on some admin tools on the customer frontend recently, so if an administrator clicks the description of an item in the catalogue then the right hand column will display statistics and available actions for the selected item. To do this the page which gets loaded (through $('action-container').load(bla bla bla);) into the right hand column has to loop through ALL the pageviews - this ultimately means that ALL the pageviews are loaded into objects if they haven't been already. For some reason this loads really REALLY fast. The difference in speed is only like a second on my dev site, but the live site has thousands of pageviews so the difference is quite big... So my question is: why is it that the admin frontend loads so slowly while using $(bla).load(bla); is so fast? I mean whatever method jQuery uses, can't browsers use this method too and load pages super-fast? Obviously not as someone would've done that by now - but I am interested to know just why the difference is so big... is it just my system or is there a major difference in speed between the browser getting a page and jQuery getting a page? • Use Math class to calculate

  Write a JAVA program that calculates the surface area of a cylinder, C= 2( p r2) + 2 p r h, where r is the radius and h is the height of the cylinder. Allow the user to enter in a radius and a height. Format the output to three decimal places. Use the constant PI and the method pow() from the Math class. This is what I've done so far but it can not run. • C# TCP Async EndReceive() throws InvalidOperationException ONLY on Windows XP 32-bit

  I have a simple C# Async Client using a .NET socket that waits for timed messages from a local Java server used for automating commands. The messages come in asynchronously and is written to a ring buffer. This implementation seems to work fine on Windows Vista/7/8 and OSX, but will randomly throw this exception while it's receiving a message from the local Java server: Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: EndReceive can only be called once for each asynchronous operation.     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult, SocketError& errorCode)     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndReceive(IAsyncResult asyncResult)     at SocketTest.Controller.RecvAsyncCallback(IAsyncResult ar)     at System.Net.LazyAsyncResult.Complete(IntPtr userToken)     ... I've looked online for this error, but have found nothing really helpful. The message itself can be any length for this to happen, and the exception can happen right away, or sometimes even up to a minute of perfect communication. I'm pretty new with sockets and network communication, and I feel I might be missing something here. I've tested on at least 8 different computers, and the only similarity with the computers that throw this exception is that their OS is Windows XP 32-bit.

• Make an ActiveX control work without a form?

  We are using Topaz Signature pads. They provide their APIs in the from of an ActiveX control which is to be put on a Winform control. Well, the way our project will work we do not want to have a form(at least not visible). The exception is Exception of type 'System.Windows.Forms.AxHost+InvalidActiveXStateException' was thrown. What do I do to solve this problem? Would it just be easier to create a new hidden form and put the control on it so it's invisible?

• WCF Service in Azure with ClaimsIdentity over SSL

  Hello , Created a WCF service as a WebRole using Azure and a client windows application which refers to this service. The Cloud Service is refered to a certificate which is created using the "Hands On Lab" given in windows identity foundation. The Web Service is hosted in IIS and it works perfect when executed. I've created a client windows app which refers to this web service. Since WIF Claims identity is used, I have a claimsAuthorizationManager Class, and also a Policy class with set of defilned policies. The Claims is set in the web.config file. When I execute the windows app as the start up project, the app prompts for authentication, and when the account credentials are given as in the config file, it opens a new "Windows Card Space" Window and Says "Incoming Policy Failed". When I close the window the System throws and Exception The incoming policy could not be validated. For more information, please see the event log. • Fast way to get a list of group members in Active Directory with C#

  In a web app, we're looking to display a list of sam accounts for users that are a member of a certain group. Groups could have 500 or more members in many cases and we need the page to be responsive. With a group of about 500 members it takes 7-8 seconds to get a list of sam accounts for all members of the group. Are there faster ways? I know the Active Directory Management Console does it in under a second. • How to make Stack.Pop threadsafe

  I am using the BlockingQueue code posted in this question, but realized I needed to use a Stack instead of a Queue given how my program runs. I converted it to use a Stack and renamed the class as needed. For performance I removed locking in Push, since my producer code is single threaded. My problem is how can thread working on the (now) thread safe Stack know when it is empty. Even if I add another thread safe wrapper around Count that locks on the underlying collection like Push and Pop do, I still run into the race condition that access Count and then Pop are not atomic. Possible solutions as I see them (which is preferred and am I missing any that would work better?): Consumer threads catch the InvalidOperationException thrown by Pop(). Pop() return a nullptr when _stack-Count == 0, however C++-CLI does not have the default() operator ala C#. Pop() returns a boolean and uses an output parameter to return the popped element. • RMI no such object in table, Server communication error

  My goal is to create a Distributed computing program that launches a server and client at the same time. I need it to be able to install on a couple of machines and have all the machines communicating with each other, i.e. Master node and 5 slave nodes all from one application.   I'm attempting to compile code in a text file to change a value in a TextBox on the main form of a WinForms application. Ie. add another partial class with method to the calling form. The form has one button (button1) and one TextBox (textBox1).   Currently I have a third party control that generates a Metafile. I can save the .wmf file to disk with out issue. The problem is how do I render the Metafile as a Tiff file. Currently I have the following code to get my metafile and save it.   (the title is admittedly not that great. Please forgive my English, this is the best I could think of) I'm writing a python script that will manage email domains and their accounts, and I'm also a newby at OOP design. My two (related?) issues are: the Domain class must do special work to add and remove accounts, like adding/removing them to the underlying implementation how to manage operations on accounts that must go through their container To solve the former issue I'd add a factory method to the Domain class that'll build an Account instance in that domain, and a 'remove' (anti-factory?) method to handle deletions. For the latter this seems to me "anti-oop" since what would logically be an operation on an Account (eg, change password) must always reference the containing Domain. Seems to me that I must add to the Account a reference back to the Domain and use that to get data (like the domain name) or call methods on the Domain class. • Overriding windows authentication for a .NET application

  I have a .NET application where the homepage (default.aspx) should be accessible by anyone. There is also a reporting page (reporting.aspx) that I want to secure via windows authentication and only allow access to a particular set of AD groups. Right now the way my web.config is setup it is securing the reporting page but on the home page it prompts the user for login credentials. If they hit esc they can continue to the page though so it isnt actually securing it. I need to prevent it from prompting the user. How do i need to setup my config.   Hello, With Android-Emulator I am not able to write/create a file on the SD Card (for logging).   I have a WCF service which can run as Console App and a Windows Service. I have exactly the same code, but running in a windows service and I get the following error when I try to call any of the methods from a client: System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException was unhandled Message="An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail." Source="mscorlib" StackTrace: Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SecurityChannelFactory`1.SecurityRequestChannel.ProcessReply(Message reply, SecurityProtocolCorrelationState correlationState, TimeSpan timeout) ...... (lots of stacktrace info - not very useful) InnerException: System.ServiceModel.FaultException Message="An error occurred when verifying security for the message." The exception tells me nothing. I'm assuming that it has something to do with acces to system resources from the Windows Service. I've tried running it under the same account as the console app, but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Converting VS2008 Solution to VS2010 Creates compile errors in ASP.NET 3.5 SP1

  I am converting a large solution from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010. The conversion completes without errors. When I go to build the solution one particular section of the application throws error but it didn't when the solution was 2008. Error 1 Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.DataVisualization, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. C:\MyProject\Results\Result.ascx 3 And C:\CMyProject\Results\Result.ascx(3): Build (web): Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.DataVisualization, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. The dll is in the bin and it is not in the GAC. The .refresh file is pointing to the correct location. And all sections in the Web.Config are there, if you need to see them let me know. I have gone over the fixes I found online and nothing seems to help. I would really appreciate if someone could help me or point me in the right direction? Thank You.

  I am trying to build Linux From Scratch, and now I am at chapter 5.4, which tells me how to build Binutils. These are the details of the error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "WSS_Content_8887ac57951146a290ca134778ddc3f8" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Does anyone have any idea why this error happens? Why does the web service run fine inside Visual Studio 2008, but not when running stand-alone? I checked and in both cases, the username variable has the same value (domain\myusername). Thank you very much.

  Hello, I have an abstract class named Xpto and two subclasses that extend it named Person and Car. I have also a class named Test with main() and a method foo() that verifies if two persons or cars (or any object of a class that extends Xpto) are equals. Thus, I redefined equals() in both Person and Car classes. Two persons are equal when they have the same name and two cars are equal when they have the same registration. However, when I call foo() in the Test class I always get "false". I understand why: the equals() is not redefined in Xpto abstract class. So... how can I compare two persons or cars (or any object of a class that extends Xpto) in that foo() method?
