• How to resolve ambiguous key sequence?

  Using BasKet, I get the following message: Ambiguous Shortcut Detected The key sequence 'Ctrl+1' is ambiguous. Use 'Configure Shortcuts' from the 'Settings' menu to solve the ambiguity. No action will be triggered. 'Ctrl+1' is shown next to 'To-Do' under the 'Tags' menu. If I look in 'Configure Shortcuts' I don't find Ctrl+1 assigned to anything (the tag shortcuts aren't listed at all, leading me to believe their assignment is hard coded). I looked under 'System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts' and also searched through CompizConfig, but didn't find anything there that might conflict. How do I resolve this keyboard shortcut issue? I'm guessing the particular program or key sequence isn't too important. It looks like it happens with a number of KDE programs (sadly I haven't seen a solution).

• How do I output my audio input?

  A few iterations ago, I think this was Jaunty but could've been before, I would plug a 1/8" audio cable from the line-out of a Windows netbook to the line-in of my Ubuntu machine, so I would have all the sound from both machines without having to plug both into a mixer which I don't have. I didn't do this much, as I was pretty-much happy with Banshee at the time. But with Karmic, and still with Lucid, I can only get the output if I'm recording with Audacity. Which I'm not going to do from my web-development and systems programming workstation. I can tell by plugging in headphones that my netbook has audio out working. I can see Sound Preferences that the Ubuntu machine is receiving them. I just want the old behavior back. Help?

• How to make 8.04's screen saver enter screen into standby?

  I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and despite using 'gnome-power-manager' to set dpms_method_ac to 'off' for backlight, the screen will not enter standby after set time. Also, "Put display to sleep when inactive for:" (via System-Preferences-Power Management) is already set to 1 minute. Interestingly enough, this only happens when I am logged in. When I am logged out, the screen does go into standby after set time. So I know it's not the screen... Any idea how make Ubuntu 8 screen saver enter screen into standby, while logged in?

• Menus don't sync in the first place

  I have been wrestling with prompts about my default key ring for months, finally made contact with Ubuntu with the right password, and find that when I try to sync evolution Ubuntu directs me to "system-preferences- " and then the road forks between the "passwords and encryption" you indicate and the "encryption and keyrings. I have no idea which version I am using, at this point. The road goes downhill from there. I would really like to synch my windows manager and Inkscape vs. ImageMagick display (circles display as semicircles). Can someone set me straight?

• Why Gsettings isn't enough to reset my nautilus settings?

  I'm trying to narrow down a bug (to eventually report it or give up if it'll turn out that resetting a simple setting will be enough to get rid of it) I noticed that with a brand new user the bug doesn't pop up so I tried to reset the config of my user's nautilus I renamed .config/nautilus I renamed .nautilus2 (strange name... why the 2?) and I did a gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.nautilus strangely enough, it didn't work: I previously set up to use my home as the desktop folder, and now the key has correctly been resetted $gsettings get org.gnome.nautilus.preferences desktop-is-home-dir false and yet on my desktop I see the contents of my home folder (meaning that the settings have not been resetted) I know that with the transition to gtk3 there've been lots of changes (before I should've used gconf... but now there's dconf and gsettings), so there're quite a bit of question about nautilus... but these unfortunately now seem to be outdated

• Neither suspend nor hibernate in 12.10 lubuntu - is there a workaround by scripts?

  I've neither suspend to ram nor to disk in 12.10 lubuntu (i suspect there might be a kernel issue but i'm only a simple user). Also, the xfce powermanagement which comes with lubuntu by default does not have any effect. Even it doesn't lock the screen when i set this in the preferences: What do when close the lid. So, on a portable that's annoying a lot. Is there some way to workaround by scripts in 'etc/pm/*.d'? TIA for any idea.

  I have used the marvelous example posted at: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/WPFDataGridExamples.aspx to bind a WPF datagrid to a datatable. The source code below compiles fine; it even runs and displays the contents of the InfoWork datatable in the wpf datagrid. Hooray! But the WPF page with the datagrid will not display in the designer. I get an incomprehensible error instead on my design page which is shown at the end of this posting. I assume the designer is having some difficulty instantiating the dataview for display in the grid. How can I fix that? • What is Causing This Memory Leak in Delphi?

  I just can't figure out this memory leak that EurekaLog is reporting for my program. I'm using Delphi 2009. Here it is: Memory Leak: Type=Data; Total size=26; Count=1; The stack is: System.pas _UStrSetLength 17477 System.pas _UStrCat 17572 Process.pas InputGedcomFile 1145 That is all there is in the stack. EurekaLog is pointing me to the location where the memory that was not released was first allocated. According to it, the line in my program is line 1145 of InputGedcomFile. Surely a simple concatenate of a string constant to a local string variable should not be causing a memory leak. Why is EurekaLog pointing me to the ReallocMem line in a _UStrSetLength routine that is part of Delphi? This is Delphi 2009 and I am using the new unicode strings.   I have a MemoryStream of 10K which was created from a bitmap of 2MB and compressed using JPEG. Since MemoryStream can’t directly be placed in System.Windows.Controls.Image for the GUI, I am using the following intermediate code to convert this back to BitmapImage and eventually System.Windows.Controls.Image. • How do I properly host a WCF Data Service in IIS? Why am I getting errors?

  I'm playing around with WCF Data Services (ADO.NET Data Services). I have an entity framework model pointed at the AdventureWorks database. When I debug my svc file from within Visual Studio, it works great. I can say /awservice.svc/Customers and get back the ATOM feed I expect. If I publish the service (hosted in an ASP.NET web application) to IIS7, the same query string returns a 500 fault. The root svc page itself works as expected and successfully returns ATOM. The /Customers path fails.   I am trying to get to grips with MS Dynamics CRM 2011. I have have the beta installed on a VM and things look pretty good - some great new features etc. However I am getting an exception when trying to connect to the new XRMServices (updated 2011 WCF web services) Exception: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/organame/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation. The exception message is: 'System.ServiceModel.Description.UseRequestHeadersForMetadataAddressBehavior'. This collection only supports one instance of each type. Parameter name: item. ---> System.ArgumentException: The value could not be added to the collection, as the collection already contains an item of the same type: 'System.ServiceModel.Description.UseRequestHeadersForMetadataAddressBehavior'. • F# Powerpack's Metadata doesn't recognize FSharp.Core as an F# library

Two more clues: Using the core3 method, I get the same error for the test F# assembly itself I don't get the error at FSI after doing #r "@C:\Program Files...\FSharp.Powerpack.Metadata.dll". Any ideas? I'm using Visual Studio 2008, F# 2.0 and F# Powerpack 2.0.0.0 (May 20, 2010) release on an oldish XP VM, I think it's updated to SP3 though. (I got the error this morning with Powerpack 1.9.9.9, so I upgraded to 2.0.0.0. • Instantiate an .aspx that is an embedded resource of an assembly

  I have an ASP.NET (MVC) application in which I would like to load WebForms .aspx files that are embedded as resources in 3rd party assemblies. The reason I want to do this is to make a sort of "plug-in" system where a .dll file can be dropped in a folder and then picked up at runtime to provide additional functionality to the base application. I've gotten the plugin system to work (I'm using MEF) with plugins written in ASP.NET MVC (Views and Controllers), but for plain old ASP.NET (Pages), I've got myself into a bit of a problem. For the execution of the embedded .aspx file (which, in the usual WebForm way Inherits="My.BasePage") I've created a custom VirtualPathProvider, ResourceFile ControllerFactory and PageController. Within the PageController I've overridden the Execute(RequestContext) method and within it I'm trying to compile the .aspx with BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath(virtualPath, type). When doing this, I get the error message "Could not load type 'My.BasePage'", even though I'm giving the BuildManager the System.Type of My.BasePage in the call to CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath. I seem to be stuck at this point. I've tried to Server.Transfer() to the custom VirtualPathProvider handled URL to the same .aspx file, but that fails with the same error message. How can I help BuildManager find out where My.BasePage is defined and how come the Type requiredBaseType parameter of CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath seems to be ignored? I've tried to call BuildManager.AddReferencedAssembly(), but that only fails with "This method can only be called during the application's pre-start initialization stage". MSDN says: "The method must be called during the Application_PreStartInit stage of the application", but I have no such event in my HttpApplication object and find absolutely zero information about it on the internet. Either way, I don't want to be calling BuildManager.AddReferencedAssembly() in or before the Application_Start event, since that makes me have to recycle the whole application to be able to add new plugins to the system. Does anyone have any clues? Any other ideas on how I can "execute" an .aspx file that is embedded as a resource within an assembly through reflection? Can I for instance pre-compile the .aspx file within the same assembly as the base Page class it inherits?

I replaced $DataSet.Tables[0] with for ($i=0;$i -lt $DataSet.tables.count;$i++){ $Dataset.Tables[$i] } but the console only shows the content of the first table and blank lines for each records of what should be the second table. The only way to see the result is to change the code to $Dataset.Tables[$i] | out-string but I do not want strings, I want to have table objects to work with. When I assign what is returned by the Invoke-SQLCommand to a variable, I can see that I have an array of datarow objects but only from the first table. What happened to the second table? • LINQ to Entities exceptions (ElementAtOrDefault and CompareObjectEqual)

  I am working on a shipping platform which will eventually automate shipping through several major carriers. I have a ShipmentsView Usercontrol which displayes a list of Shipments (returned by EntityFramework), and when a user clicks on a shipment item, it spawns a ShipmentEditView and passes the ShipmentID (RecordKey) to that view. I initially wrestled with trying to get the context from the parent (ShipmentsView) and finally gave up resolving to get to it later. I wanted to do this to keep a single instance of the context. anyhow, I now create a new instance of the context in my ShipmentEditViewModel, and query against it for the Shipment record. I know I could just pass the record, but I wanted to use the Ocean Framework that Karl Shifflett wrote and don't want to muck about writing new transition methods. So anyhow, I query and when stepping through, I can see that it returns a record, as soon as execution reached the point where it assigned the query result to the e.Result property, it throws up the following exception depending on the query I used.
