  The default Windows Xp Start menu has been disabled by the system administrator where I work. When you right-click on the Start-menu, and select properties, the only option is the Classic Start-menu. I work in IT and have the complete freedom to change whatever I want, I just don't know how.   I'm looking at message queueing for client/server communication in a new product. One of the problems with MSMQ is that it's not installed by default on most Windows desktops, and that it doesn't seem to be available as a redistributable for inclusion in our MSI. Given that the administrator will have access to Microsoft SMS or ConfigMgr or similar, how do I persuade them that it's easy to install? That is: how do I automate installation of the MSMQ components?

• Can't get virtual desktops to show up on RDWeb for Server 2012 R2

  I built a test lab using the Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview. The initial test lab has the following configuration (I have replaced our name with "OurCompanyName" because I would like it if Google searches for our name did not cause people to come to this site, please do the same in any responses) Physical hardware running Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview full GUI, acting as Hyper-V host (joined to the test domain as testVwHost.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) with the following VM's running on it VM running 2012 R2 Core acting as domain controller for the forest testVw.OurCompanyName.com (testDC.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) VM running 2012 R2 Core with nothing running on it joined to the test domain as testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com A clean install of Windows 7, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it A clean install of Windows 8, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it I then ran "Add Roles and Features" from testVwHost and chose the "Remote Desktop Services Installation", "Standard Deployment", "Virtual machine-based desktop deployment". I choose testIIS for the roles "RD Connection Broker" and "RD Web Access" and testVwHost as "RD Virtualization Host" The Install of the roles went fine, I then went to Remote Desktop Services in server manager and wet to setup Deployment Properties. I set the certificate for all 3 roles to our certificate signed by a CA for *.OurCompanyName.com. I then created a new Virtual Desktop Collection for Windows 7 and Windows 8 and both where created without issue. On the Windows 7 pool I added RemoteApp to launch WordPad, For windows 8 I did not add any RemoteApp programs. Everything now appears to be fine from a setup perspective however if I go to https://testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com/RDWeb and log in as the use Administrator (or any orher user) I don't see the virtual desktops I created nor the RemoteApp publishing of WordPad. I tried adding a licensing server, using testDC as the server but that made no difference. What step did I miss in setting this up that is causing this not to show up on RDWeb? If any additional information is needed pleas let me know. I have tried every possible thing I can think of and I am just groping around in the dark now. The virtual machines running on testVwHost The configuration screen for RD Services The Windows 7 Pool The Windows 8 Pool This is logged in as testVw\Administrator

  My problem is that im trying to setup a server farm but the nodes all come up as offline. I dont get a connection error saying that the servername is wrong, but get "offline" after it "test connection" I have: - Setup firewalls rules to allow Remote and file share on Domain and private network - Installed WWF 2.0 on both servers - Account that im using is a domain account that is Administrator on both machines. www01 is the same server as the controller below, but same results if i try www02 as primary. Any ideas?

What I'm wondering is, how does the addon download it, and do other people see that i'm downloading the videos? For example, is all the software to download the video already on my computer, or does the addon contact someone else to get the video, or let them know? Can the webpage's administrator see I'm downloading the video?

  I just had trouble running VMWare player (version 3.1.0 build-261024) on Win 7 and got this error: Error while powering on: The following error occurred when starting VMware Player.W32AuthConnectionLaunch: Reply error "The system cannot find the file "" (code: 3).". I Googled the error and turns out the fix is to run VMWare Player as Administrator.   I kept my passwords recorded but the location on my PC where I kept this went missing. I now can't get into Windows Server 2008 R2 as I can't remember the administrator or named account credentials and have no password reset disk. This is on a VM (VM Player - which btw is temp till I get Hyper-V). How can I get back in? If I make AD can I join the server to AD and then set a domain account?

  When I type http://google.com and press ENTER on any of my browsers ( Mozilla, Chrome ), the URL bar suddenly transforms into this file:///C:/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/Google_Toolbar/Google_Toolbar/1.0.0.0/MyGoogle.html After this too, I can continue to search in google but the URL bar still shows the local address.   Is there a local security policy setting or somesuch to allow limited user accounts to modify the contents of USB drives? Currently I get an "Access denied" error, further saying "Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." The Administrator account has no such obstacles. Update: The problem is at least solvable by altering NTFS permissions (granting Full Control to Users), and therefore I'm losing hope that there is a more global solution.

  DEP (Microsofts Data Execution Prevention) stopps sometimes some apps and kills it out of memory. As an administrator, may i see such events in a log and if which one? My experience is that there is no user information as written in Help about DEP, user reported only that the desired app disappears from their screens. This happens on a Citrix-Server running on a windows-2003 R2 64-Bit Server.

• Moved files only opening as 'read-only' in Excel

  I moved a large directory of Excel files to another machine. When I sign in as myself (administrator signing into domain) then the files open just fine, but when I sign in as a Power User directly onto the machine, the files open as 'Read-Only'. I've reset all the attributes through both Windows and DOS, but to no avail. Also I checked on the Search Indexing bug, but indexing is already turned off. Any ideas?
