• How to replace all instances of a particular value in a mysql database with another?

  I'm looking for a MySQL equivalent of what str_replace is for PHP. I want to replace all instances of one word with another, I want to run a query that will replace all "apples" with "oranges". The reason why: UPDATE fruits SET name='oranges' WHERE name='apples'; isn't going to work for my situation, is because I often times have multiple words in a table row separated by commas like: "apples, pears, pineapples". In this case I want just apples to be replaced by oranges and pear and pineapples to stay in tact. Is there any way to do this?

  I am trying to load a file into an MySQL(v5.1.38) innodb table using PHP's mysqli::query and a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE query. The query returns a 'Malformed packet' error code 2027. Any ideas what is wrong? It's fairly easy to do using a For Each loop, but I wonder if someone can show me a similar LINQ query. • OutOfMemoryException Processing Large File

  We are loading a large flat file into BizTalk Server 2006 (Original release, not R2) - about 125 MB. We run a map against it and then take each row and make a call out to a stored procedure. We receive the OutOfMemoryException during orchestration processing, the Windows Service restarts, uses full 2 GB memory, and crashes again. The server is 32-bit and set to use the /3GB switch. Also I've separated the flow into 3 hosts - one for receive, the other for orchestration, and the third for sends. Anyone have any suggestions for getting this file to process wihout error? • parsing numbers in a javascript array

  Hi I have a string of numbers separated by commas, "100,200,300,400,500" that I'm splitting into an array using the javascript split function: var data = []; data = dataString.split(","); I'm trying to parse the values of the array using parseFloat and then store them back into the array. I'd then like to add up the numbers in the array and store it as another variable, "dataSum". I've got the following code, but I can't get it working: var dataSum = ""; for (var i=0; i < data.length; i++) { parseFloat(data[i]); dataSum += data[i]; } So at the end of all this, I should be able to access any of the parsed numbers individually data[0], data[1], etc... and have a total number for dataSum. What am I doing wrong?

• WPF Statusbar Updates - help, I seem to be going round in circles

  I seem to be going round in circles. I have a WPF application that has a main ribbon window with a status bar. When you navigate to a "view" a user control is displayed as the content of the main window. The view has a ViewModel which handles retrieving data from the database and the View's datacontext is set to the ViewModel. What I want is to have the lengthy operation (data retrieval) run on a background thread and whilst it is running the status in the main window to report appropriately. When the background task is complete, the status should revert back to "Ready" (much the same as Visual Studio). How should I wire this together so that I can have the data access code separated out in the ViewModel whilst keeping a responsive UI? I have tried using the BackgroundWorker is various places in the code and I still end up with an unresponsive UI.

  I have a column called post_tags where there is sometimes one tag entry and sometimes multiple tags stored. These are separated by * symbols. I want to display these out to the screen one by one. If there were just one item inside the cell I would have used: $query = mysql_query("SELECT post_tags FROM posts WHERE id=$id"); while ($result = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $result['post_tags']; } But how can I display each entry individually when there are multiple ones in one cell (is this what the explode function is for)?

  Hi, I have a list (tmpList), which looks like this: $op [1] "empty" $termset $termset$field [1] "entry" $termset[[2]] $termset[[2]]$explode [1] "Y" This is a list with a list inside. If I add this list to a vector theOneVector = c(theOneVector, tmpList) Now the resulting vector is of the length 2, because the first entry ("op") of the list is separated from the tmpList. Is it possible to append the complete tmpList into this vector? I already tried it with theOneVector = c(theOneVector, list(tmpList)) which gives a vector with the length of 1, but it is very cumbersome to access the elements of the list with this extra list around the list. (Too much list in one sentence I think.) Any help would be appreciated, Martin

• Compilation of latex file

  Hi, I am compiling a latex file on a server and download from there the generated dvi, ps and pdf files to view them. The latex file by \includegraphics includes some figure files which are not on my local machine. I found that dvi file generated by latex command does not show the figures after dowloaded to my local, but ps file generated by dvips -Ppdf have the figures, and pdf file generated by either ps2pdf or pdflatex seem not have the figures again. Is it because the figures are not actually embeded as part of the dvi and pdf files by those compilation commands? How to actually embed figures so we can only export the document files to other machines? are the case for tables in separated tex files included into main tex file by /input and the case for style files included by \usepackage similar to the above case for figure files included by \includegraphics ?   Hi guys, Is there anything that we could do for implementing VIRTUAL MICE? I mean, I want to have multiple mice within the whole OS, but they must be all VIRTUAL (I'm not talking about the applications that serve multiple mice driver for PS/2 or USB mice or Microsoft's MultiPoint Mouse SDK.) It is like creating two objects: Mouse mouse1, mouse2; and using them like: mouse1.mouse_event(...); mouse2.mouse_event(...); having a CURSOR on the screen is NOT IMPORTANT. I only need the action (MOUSE DOWN, MOVE, UP for each but separated) and the important thing is that these VIRTUAL MICE should work together, at the same time, click or down-move action with different coordinates(x,y).

• JPA persistence.xml share same jar file

  Hi! I'm wondering if I can share the same jar file for several persistence units.. I mean: I have two persistence units described in my persistence.xml file and the entities are not in the same JAR. Entities are in a separated JAR file but, in that one, there are entites for both persistence units. I think I red somewhere that I coould use tag something like this: externalEntities.jar#com.mycompany.EntityA so I could separate them. I tried this solution and it doesn't work. Now I guess that it couldn't be done to package all entities (for two different persistence units) in the same JAR file. What do yo think?

  I need to keep track of number of "hits" on a particular item in a DB. The thing is that the "hits" should stay unique with a user ID, so if a user hits the item 3 times, it should still count for a hit of 1. Also, I need to display the total number of hits for a particular item. Is there a better way than to store each hits for each items by each users in a separate table? Would keeping the user ID in a string separated by commas a better and efficient way?

  I'd like convert strings to floats using Python 2.6 and later, but without silently converting things like 'NaN' and 'Inf'. Before 2.6, float("NaN") would raise a ValueError. Now it returns a float for which math.isnan() returns True, which is not useful behaviour for my application. Here's what I've got at the moment: import math def get_floats(source): for text in source.split(): try: val = float(text) if math.isnan(val) or math.isinf(val): raise ValueError yield val except ValueError: pass This is a generator, which I can supply with strings containing whitespace-separated sequences representing real numbers. I'd like it to yield only those fields which are purely numeric representations of floats, as in "1.23" or "-34e6", but not for example "NaN" or "-Inf". Test case: assert list(get_floats('1.23 -34e6 NaN -Inf')) == [1.23, -34000000.0] Please suggest alternatives you consider more elegant, even if they involve "look before you leap" (which is normally considered a lesser approach in Python).

  There are a lot of articles devoted to working with data in MVC, and nothing about MVC 2. So my question is: what is the proper way to handle POST-query and validate it. Assume we have 2 actions. Both of them operates over the same entity, but each action has its own separated set of object properties that should be bound in automatic manner. For example: Action "A" should bind only "Name" property of object, taken from POST-request Action "B" should bind only "Date" property of object, taken from POST-request As far as I understand - we cannot use Bind attribute in this case. So - what are the best practices in MVC2 to handle POST-data and probably validate it. UPD: After Actions performed - additional logic will be applied to the objects so they become valid and ready to store in persistent layer. For action "A" - it will be setting up Date to current date.

  I am in database design development phase. Application will work with large number of users (LARGE :)) I designed 80% of database but I have one Users table which is connected to everything else: Users {UserId, FirstName, LastName, Username, Password, PasswordQuestion, PasswordAnswer, Gender, RoleId, LastLoginDate etc etc} I saw asp.net membership database structure where Users and Membership are two tables. My questions are: Should I use one users table with all users data in it or more tables? If answer is 'more tables', what tables to use? Any advice on how to structure relation between those tables? This is sample relation that I have, and trying to improve. I don't understand why user and userChild are separated tables?

• Transferring a flat file database to a MySQL database

  I have a flat file database (yeah gross I know - the worst part is that it's 1.4GB), and I'm in the process of moving it to a MySQL database. The problem is that I'm not sure how to go about doing this - and I've checked through every related question on here but none relate to what I want to do, nor how my database is currently setup. My current flat file database is setup to where a normal MySQL row is its own file, and a MySQL table would be the directory. So for example if you have a user named Jon, there would be a file for the user in a directory named /members/. Within that file would be various information for the user including the users id, rank etc - all separated by tabs, all on separate lines (userid\t4). So here's an example user file: userid 4 notes staff notes: bla bla staff2 notes: bla bla bla username Example So how can I convert the above into their own rows and fields in MySQL? And if possible, could I do thousands of these files at once? Thanks.

  Does anyone know of a 3rd party data import wizard that can be embedded into applications? It should import from Excel, Access, SQLServer, csv, tab-separated flat file, XML, Oracle etc. We have a fixed data structure within our application and the user should be able to configure the wizard to match his/her import fields to our own data structure. The wizard should be a library of sorts – preferably a .Net type library. We may want to have it both web-based and desktop based (hence we may need an ASP.Net controls version and a Winforms version). We may also want integration with WPF and Silverlight. If there’s no UI wizard available, does anyone know of a non-UI library that supports easily configurable import from many, many different datasources?

• CSS Vertical Spacing Issue (Margin?) - Vertical Space Between Two Divs

  I've got the layout of my site mostly done. On the domain I'm testing this layout on - http://networkgenius.org/ - there is a vertical space separating the content-wrapper div and the menu div. I have the margins set to 0px for the vertical spacing, and this is the only area that is separated like it is. I'd like the white content area to be pressed up right against the bottom of the menu, so that none of the body's background shows between them. What am I doing wrong?
