  I have a TWO tables of data with following fields table1=(ITTAG,ITCODE,ITDESC,SUPcode) table2=(ACCODE,ACNAME,ROUTE,SALMAN) This is my customer master table that contains my customer data such as customer code, customer name and so on... Every Route has a supervisor (table1=supcode) and I need to know the supervisor name in my table which both supervisor name and code exist in one table. table1 has contain all names separated by ITTAG. For example, supervisor's name has ITTAG='K'; also salesman's name has ITTAG='S'. • Controlling LaTeX column flow

  What I'm trying to do: I have a page that consists of pairs of two sentences each. The pairs are separated by a whole line break. My problem is that when I have an odd number of pairs, the second sentence will automatically be placed on the next column. How can I use LaTeX to make block structures that multicol does not ignore, to keep the two sentences together? If there's better code to solve this problem, or a better column implementation (though I don't believe I can use \twocolumn in the document declaration), please post it.   Has anyone seen an editor/IDE that shows WYSIWYG comments inside the code? I have seen some that show the docs of an element in a separated tab/windows, but not together with code. For example, a JavaDoc comment would be much clearer and easier to edit if it had no tags and could be edited like a snippet from a normal text document. /** * Writes <code>Hello world!</code> to the <b>standard output</b>. * @seealso showGoodbye */ public static void showHello() { Could be something like this: /* Writes Hello world! to the standard output.   I'm interested in learning more about design practices in PHP for Database Abstraction & Factory methods. For background, my site is a common-interest social networking community currently in beta mode. Currently, I've started moving my old code for object retrieval to factory methods. However, I do feel like I'm limiting myself by keeping a lot of SQL table names and structure separated in each function/method. Questions: Is there a reason to use PEAR (or similar) if I dont anticipate switching databases? Can PEAR interface with the MySqli prepared statements I currently use? Will it help me separate table names from each method? (If no, what other design patterns might I want to research?) Will it slow down my site once I have a significantly large member base?

  I am looking for something very close to an application server with these features: it should handle a series of threads/daemons, allowing the user to start-stop-reload each one without affecting the others it should keep libraries separated between different threads/daemons it should allow to share some libraries Currently we have some legacy code reinventing the wheel... and not a perflectly round-shaped one at that! I thought to use Tomcat, but I don't need a web server, except maybe for the simple backoffice user interface (/manager/html). Any suggestion? Is there a non-web application server, or is there a better alternative to Tomcat (more lightweight, for example, or easier to configure)? Thanks in advance.

• Is there a language designed for code golf?

  I am not really a fan of code golf, but I have to wonder, is there an esoteric language designed for it? I mean a language with following properties: Common programs may be expressed in very short amount of characters It uses ASCII character set effectively (for example, common operators are not identifiers, so they don't have to be separated by whitespace, character usage is distributed more or less evenly because we cannot use Huffman coding and so on) Except the terse syntax, it should have very expressible and clean semantics (like, let's say, Python or Scheme); it shouldn't be difficult to program in It doesn't need features for large scale programs, such as OOP, but it definitely should allow custom functions and data structures It should have a large standard library, identifiers in this library should be as short as possible Maybe it should be called CG? Languages that can be a source of inspiration are Forth, APL and Joy.

• Confused about GNU `sort(1)` of a numerical sub field

  I wish to sort a space separated table, with the numerical value that found on the 2nd field. I can assume that the 2nd field is always fooN but the length of N is unknown: antiq. foo11 girls colleaguing foo2 Leinsdorf Cousy foo0 Montgomeryville bowlegged foo1 pollack Chevrier foo10 ill-conceived candlebomb foo3 seventieths autochthony foo101 re-enable beneficiate foo100 osteometric I read man sort(1) and played with all sort of options. On my system I found the line: sort -n -k2.5 table to work. My question is why? According to the man page: -k, --key=POS1[,POS2] start a key at POS1, end it at POS 2 (origin 1) ... POS is F[.C][OPTS], where F is the field number and C the characterposition in the field. OPTS is one or more single-letter ordering options, which override global ordering options for that key. If no key is given, use the entire line as the key. So why sort -n -k2.4 table don't work and sort -n -k.5 does?

• Flex 4.5 - to long build process

  We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

• How do I display a field's hidden characters in the result of a query in Oracle?

  I have two rows that have a varchar column that are different according to a Java .equals(). I can't easily change or debug the Java code that's running against this particular database but I do have access to do queries directly against the database using SQLDeveloper. The fields look the same to me (they are street addresses with two lines separated by some new line or carriage feed/new line combo). Is there a way to see all of the hidden characters as the result of a query?I'd like to avoid having to use the ascii() function with substr() on each of the rows to figure out which hidden character is different. I'd also accept some query that shows me which character is the first difference between the two fields.

  I have a form that contains 5 check boxes. The user may select one or more of these check boxes. The user may select 2 and leave 3 unchecked or select 4 and leave one unchecked and so on, in that case how can I write the php/mysql code that will insert the form data into the database. With just one selection it's easy, I would do: $checkbox_value = $_POST['i_agree']; mysql_query("INSERT INTO terms (user, pass, conditions) VALUES ('$user','$pass','$checkbox_value')"); But how can I write this when there are multiple check box options and only one or more of them will be checked? I want to insert them all in one column called "tags" separated by commas.

  I wrote a program that makes a reference to Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll, which is not present on Windows Server 2003. • Help with a MySQL SELECT WHERE Clause

  A column in my table contains email addresses. I have a text string that contains the a few usernames of email addresses separated by commas. I can make text sting into an array if necessary to get my SELECT WHERE clause to work correctly. Text string search argument is 'bob,sally,steve' I want to produce a WHERE clause that only returns rows where the username portion of the email address in the table matches one of the usernames in my text string search argument. Thus a row with [email protected] would not be returned but [email protected] would be. Does anyone have a WHERE clause sample that produces this result? Thanks.

  Hi How to design a business object? I have a library which returns me an Object which have ten lists of other different objects. I need to store it into database all. List of objects are often like: class Item { private int id; private String name; private double point; } But the name is often the same. Like basic title of the product or code. Containing from 3 characters up to 70characters. Should I make conversion for every Object to: (or something similar) class ConvertedItem { private int id; private int code; private double point; } And have a separated table of codes ( I guess around 60). Or do not bother with duplicated stuff? It's not mission critical app. What would you do in my case? thanks in advance

XmlFields (xml) // This field is xml type To create a new contact, I created two classes - one for regular fields and other to display fields from XmlFields field. In Controller, I have following: public ActionResult Create(Contact contact, FormCollection collection) ... Regular field I catch with contact object and those that need to be stored as xml in XmlFields I try to catch with collection object. Problem is that collection object catches all fields, so I wonder if it is possible to isolate xml fields when posting to a specific object so that I can easily manipulate with them. • how to import other schema jars when using the scomp tool

  there is a huge amount of xml schemas for the business, some of them are common types like Money.xsd, Address.xsd, etc, while others are business specific like Customer.xsd, ShippingOrder.xsd, etc. So I decide to compile these schemas into 2 jars, one is commonbeans.jar, the other is businessbeans.jar. I've separated them into different folders. to build the commonbeans.jar is simple, just run "scomp -out commonbeans.jar ....\common*.xsd"; while run "scomp -out businessbeans.jar ....\business*.xsd" is a different story, there are errors say can't find those common types, and run "scomp -out businessbeans.jar ....\business*.xsd ....\business*.xsd" will blindly duplicate all the common types into the businessbeans.jar. so is there any way to link the commonbeans.jar when compile those busimess schemas, maybe something like "scomp -out businessbeans.jar ....\business*.xsd commonbeans.jar". I hope my poor english has expressed my issue!

Being used to Java, I'm pretty familiar with the paradigm of one class per source code file, bundling all the data and method definitions with appropriate comments and annotations etc. However Clojure offers a lot more flexibility, and I'm not sure how I should structure my project (likely to end up as a medium sized app, maybe 5,000 lines with three or four distinct subsystems) In particular I'm wrestling with: What guidelines should I use to determine whether code should be in a single namespace vs. separated out into different namespaces? Should each protocol/datatype have it's own namespace + source file with associated set of functions? When should I require vs. use other namespaces?

The problem is when i submit this form to the same url that the view render the template, i have to re render the template with previusly data and then show the errors (if they are) in the form with the new renderd data, so i have to re render all the time the previusly information. • Deploying backing bean with composite component in separate jar

  I have some difficulties deploying my web app on JBoss AS 6.1. My current Project is separated into the main web app (controller/managed beans & web frontend using JSF 2 facelets) and one jar with the composite components + backing beans. But when I try to access the page I got an error that the specified component type could not be instantiated. Copying the backing bean into the main web app solves the problem, but this isn't what I want. So is there anything to pay attention to? The backing bean looks like @FacesComponent(value = "elementBase") public class ElementBase extends UINamingContainer { ... } and the composite components interface <composite:interface componentType="elementBase"> ... some attributes </composite:interface> The structure of the jar is the following -- META-INF |-- resources | |-- components | |-- elementBase.xhtml -- com |-- example | |-- ElementBase.class I've also tried to add faces-config.xml within META-INF folder, with the component type, but the component type was still not found.

  I've noticed that MySql has an extensive search capacity, allowing both wildcards and regular expressions. However, I'm in somewhat in a bind since I'm trying to extract multiple values from a single string in my select query. For example, if I had the text "<span>Test</span> this <span>query</span>", perhaps using regular expressions I could find and extract values "Test" or "query", but in my case, I have potentially n such strings to extract. And since I can't define n columns in my select statement, that means I'm stuck. Is there anyway I could have a list of values (ideally separated by commas) of any text contained with span tags? In other words, if I ran this query, I would get "Test,query" as the value of spanlist: select <insert logic here> as spanlist from HtmlPages ...

• Sharing a database connection with included classes in a Sinatra application

  I'm converting a part of a rails application to its own sinatra application. It has some beefy work to do and rather than have a million helps in app.rb, I've separated some of it out into classes. Without access to rails I'm rewriting finder several methods and needing access to the database inside of my class. What's the best way to share a database connection between your application and a class? Or would you recommend pushing all database work into its own class and only having the connection established there?   in mysql i use JOIN and one query is no problem. what about mongo? imagine categories and products. products may have more categories. categories may have more product. (many to many structure) and administrator may edit categories in administration (categories must be separated) its possible write product with categories names in one query? i used this structure categories { name:"categoryName", product_id:["4b5783300334000000000aa9","5783300334000000000aa943","6c6793300334001000000006"] } products { name:"productName", category_id:["4b5783300334000000000bb9","5783300334000000000bb943","6c6793300334001000000116"] } now i can simply get all product categories, and product in some category and categories alone for editation. but if i want write product with categories names i need two queries - one to get product categories id and second to get categories names from categories by that ids. is this the right way? or this structure is unsuitable? i would like to have only one query but i dont know if its possible.

  I get this response from a web service call. Something like this <Response> <Control1 type = "DropdownList" value= "USA,UK,Sweden,UAE"/> <Control2 type = "Textbox" value= "Contries"/> <Control3 type = "Button" value= "None"> </Response> Based on this I de-serialize it into List<Controls>. Now I need to be able to dynamically create a winform based on these controls. My problem is the layout. I want to be able to create them nicely separated (If possible vertically aligned) in batches of lets say 5.So If I need 15 controls I have 3 columns and 5 rows. What would be best way to achieve this? I know that I can use the inbuilt positioning properties like top, width etc., but maybe someone out there has done something similar in a better way.
