• RoboCopy errors on Windows Server 2008

  I am getting bizarre error with RoboCopy in Server 2008. It will randomly hang with "The specified network name is no longer available." error. Once that happens, it will continue to fail on the retries. But of course the remote server IS still available on the network and can be reached with other tools. I think it must be somehow permission related but I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Other info: Options : *.* /S /E /COPY:DAT /NP /R:10 /W:30 If I turn on the /B option it will fail 100% of the time at the very beginning (that's why I think it has to be somehow permission-related) The two servers are standalone and I am doing a NET USE command prior to the robocopy It does not matter what user account on the remote server. Tried both Administrator and another user which was also a member of the local Administrators group UAC is turned off on both sides It is not always the same file that hangs. Sometimes it will get through half or more and sometimes it will fail on the first file

• internal compiler error

  I am getting this message: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate. See <file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.4/README.Bugs> for instructions. for every compilation that takes longer (ie: linux kernel, kde sources etc.) I've tried other OS (at that moment I was on Fedora 12, now on Debian; was a Suse also) and it didn't work. I've tried replacing my hard disk, since it needed an upgrade either ways - that didn't work either. I assumed that it's the RAM fault - tested them with memtest and it says they are fine. Does anyone know what else I can do in order to figure out where the problem is?

• SBS 2003 R2 install errors

  I just installed sbs2003 R2 as a learning lab box on my home network. The install seemed to take quit a while with a bit of shuffling between disks 4 and 5. The continue setup checklist showed the red x besides the exchange install and finally gave me an error about the "schema needing extending run, forest /adprep" and told me at the end that the install did not succeed. After a longer than normal reboot it comes up and seems to be OK. What logs do i need to check to see what went wrong? Should i reinstall and try burning the iso's to new media? cheers

• Strange permission errors with Windows Server 2008

  I just don't know a better way to describe my issue that is driving me nuts. I am trying to establish a test domain with virtual machines on a box that has Win7 with VMwware workstation installed. The purpouse with this domain will be so that we can try and test different situations before they go into the production network. I build a VM with WinSrv2008R2 and I am using that VM as a template to make other servers for the domain by making clones of it. Now I raise a DC with one clone and a member server with another clone - I add the server to the domain. I am following a standard procedure as always (it is not my first domain). Then I make an admin account and I am adding the admin to be a member of the Domain and Enterprise Admins group. That admin is admin with full priviledges on the DC.. no problem there. But on the other server has ... somewhat half the privileges and I cant log in via RDP. I tryed with another account. Same issues. For example (with half the privileges): I can't open the Even Viewer if I go via Start - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. But I can open the Even Viewer via the server manager. You can notice this on the image below. I mean WTF??? I am going crazy, I haven't experienced anything similar in my three years of expertise. I already lost 3 days troubleshooting this. Could this be related with the cloning? Perhaps if I make fresh installs of WinSrv2008 there won't be any problems? I've had raised test domains as VMs on other occasions before, and there weren't any problems then. This is VMware Workstation 8. I've made clones before, on Workstation 7 it didn't had any problems.   Hello all, We are experience a 500 http error when trying to run remote powershell on a win 2008 R2 server. I have run enable-wsmancredssp for both client and server roles on this machine. I have also run "winrm quickconfig". Also the allowfreshcredentials delegation group policy is setup correctly as well. There are active listeners running and credssp is enabled for client and service. I can connect with kerberos (by not specifing authentication type), but the following remote powershell command fails: Enter-PSSession -ComputerName serverX -credential domain\user -Authentication Credssp Error: Enter-PSSession : Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client received an HTTP server error status (500), but the remote service did not include any other information about the cause of the failure. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. At line:1 char:16 I have not been able to find any useful information on how to troubleshoot this. I have restarted Winrm, rebooted, disabled and re-enabled credssp. Please help.

• Vista - Profile not Loaded Correctly (Cannot Access Registry)

  Every so often, I log on and get the Following Message: User profile was not loaded correctly. You have been logged on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off. Please see the event log for details or contact your administrator This almost always happens when somebody else has been on the computer for a while, and then I log on. This never used to happen, but now it happens pretty often. My profile is not permanently corrupted, all I have to do is restart my computer, but this annoys me, and I would like to fix it. I was curios about the reason of this cause, so I looked into the Event Log, and found the root of the problem was the ntuser.dat file in the profile that I was logging on to was locked at logon time. This resulted in the current users registry not being loaded, resulting in failure to load the profile. What could be locking this file? is there any way to get a process list without logging on so that I can identify which process has the file locked? Any other suggestions. Hopefully I can find a solution.

  Vista Home Basic and Outlook 2007 are all updated and repaired. When attempying to mailto: in CL, etc. by clicking on the users address, I get error 'can't open outlook'. If outlook is open, nothing ever happens. If I right click for gmail the address goes in the wrong field. I didnt notice right away but this happened after an auto update. Help! Thanks in advance.   Hi, I am trying to follow this tutorial, on the subject of compiling ruby and rubygems on Snow Leopard: http://hivelogic.com/articles/compiling-ruby-rubygems-and-rails-on-snow-leopard I have added this to my ~/.profile: export PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH" But if I write: echo $PATH I get: /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin:/usr/X11/bin But in tutorial it says: You should see /usr/local/bin at the beginning of the line returned by the system. I have installed macports sometime ago and plenty of other software, perhaps it has changed the path. Anyway, I have tried to proceed with the installation, so I have built ruby, I did: ./configure --enable-shared --enable-pthread CFLAGS=-D_XOPEN_SOURCE=1 make sudo make install cd .. But when I do which ruby I get: /usr/bin/ruby And according to the tutorial that's wrong. Also if I do ruby -v I get the older version of ruby that was preinstalled on Snow Leopard and not the one I've compiled. Thanks.

Seen here: http://code.google.com/p/wkhtmltopdf/downloads/list There's slim pickins when it comes to pre-compiled binaries. I started with version 0.9.9 which has a few bugs. I upgraded to 0.11.0 RC 1 to find a slew of new problems, namely the following: http://code.google.com/p/wkhtmltopdf/issues/detail?id=730 I think 0.10 RC 2 would work, and the thread above suggests compiling from the source has a fix for the error I'm getting, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone explain how I can create a static binary myself, or would anyone be willing to create and post one for the countless people waiting for this fix?

  I am having trouble with translating a specific line in assembly to machine code for the Nios II. I have successfully compiled these lines: START_TIMER = 0xF68C r0 = 0x0 r8 = 0x8 label = 50000 addi r8, r8, %lo(label) - 01000 01000 1100001101010000 000100 subi r8, r8, 1 - 01000 01000 1111111111111111 000100 bne r8, r0, START_TIMER - 01000 00000 1111011010001100 011110 The line in question that I have trouble with is this one: orhi r8, r0, %hiadj(label) As explained in the handbook linked above, "%lo" means "Extract bits [15..0] of immed32" and "%hiadj" means "Extract bits [31..16] and adds bit 15 of immed32". However, 50000 in binary is 1100001101010000, and is therefore a 16 bit number. As far as I can see, it doesn't contain any bits between 16 and 31. I tried with 0000000000000001, but it's incorrect. What am I doing wrong?

  I'm trying to build mosh from source on a SUSE10 machine and am getting the following error: checking for protobuf... no configure: error: Package requirements (protobuf) were not met: No package 'protobuf' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables protobuf_CFLAGS and protobuf_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. I downloaded the source to protobuf and installed it in a custom path as well. I'm not using a package manager for any of this and cannot for various reasons outside the scope of the question. I added that custom path to my PATH and rehashed. Typically, this is enough for configure but in this case its not doing the trick. I added the prefix for protobuf to PKG_CONFIG_PATH but am still hitting this error. What should I do next to get past this error?

• Blink build with Xcode failed

  I found a GPL-ed SIP client for Mac, Blink. I'd like to build it from source since the binaries are only available as paid download. Just FYI i'm studying programming at university but have no experience in building complex application from source. After downloading the content of the repository i opened the Xcode project and tried to build on OS X 10.7, Xcode 4.2.1. Unfortunately the build fail with 1 error and many warnings Most of the warnings are like this: Attribute Unavailable: Custom Identifiers in Interface Builder versions prior to 3.2 The error message is: Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Error Command /Developer/usr/bin/clang failed with exit code 1 preceded by the warning Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Warning directory not found for option '-L/Users/Sergio/Downloads/Blink/devel.ag-projects.com/repositories/public/blink-cocoa/Distribution/Frameworks' I notice that in the list of required files i have this files missing: Dependencies/Frameworks libgcrypt.11.6.0.dylib libgcrypt.11.dylib libgnutls-extra.26.dylib libgnutls.26.dylib libgpg-error.0.dylib libintl.8.dylib liblzo.1.dylib libtasn1.3.dylib Dependencies/Resources lib Frameworks/Linked Frameworks Sparkle.framework Products Blink.app It should be possible to download these files somewhere. Unfortunately googling did not help. There's no documentation on the project site.

• Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4 getting connection reset errors in the browser

  In the weekend I upgraded my development web server to Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4. In my web application which was previously working great on Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.3 it now starts getting these messages saying the "connection was reset" in Firefox. See screenshot. I am connecting to the linux machine via local LAN. I'm assuming it might be something to do with the new version of Apache or PHP, or the new LAMP stack which I downloaded from BitNami? It would seem to happen every 5-10 requests and throw this error, perhaps more likely to trigger it is if I send a POST request from a page. Is it timing out the script or something? These are just basic dynamic pages I'm loading and they worked perfectly in Apache 2.2 and PHP5.3. Here are my httpd.conf and PHP.ini if that has any clues. Any ideas? Any help much appreciated.

• Cannot install netbeans on Gentoo

  I'm trying to install Netbeans on my Gentoo system and I just cannot get it to work. When I'm compiling it It fails due to not being able to locate org.apache.maven.project.MavenProject. [nb-javac] class file for org.apache.maven.project.MavenProject not found I'm suspecting it has something to do with the installation not being able to find several files. However these are reported as warnings. The missing files have a version in their filenames, the files that are on the disk have a version number that is slightly off. • White Screen, No Errors.

  So.. Interesting problem for you guys, As I'm completely lost as to what to do, or where to take the next step. Server & Application Environment. CentOS release 5.3 (Final) Apache 2.2.3-22 EnableSendfile off EnableMMAP off ErrorLog logs/error_log LogLevel debug PHP-5.2.6-2 error_reporting = E_ALL display_errors = on log_errors = on max_execution_time=300 max_input_time=60 memory_limit=512mb Kohana 2.3 PHP Environment. HAProxy 1.3.15.6-2 MemCacheD 1.2.6-1 Our application is split between 3 web servers, mounting a NFS Storage server, and sticky load balancing between the 3 web servers. The application seemingly runs great, but every so often, instead of loading, the application just shows a pure white page. Not a 404 Error, or a 500 Server Error, a clean white page. And it returns instantly, so its not a execution time error. Nothing in the Error log, or Server-Error Log, Proxy log shows standard proxied connection, Just the standard 200-Status in Access log, with 256 bytes transferred. To me, this leads to tell me that the application itself is having a problem. A rare, unexplainable, seemingly random, problem that causes what we've now called the "White Screen of Death." Our developers all say that since there is nothing going to our error logs, that it must be a server problem. But I say the same thing, There's nothing going to ANY of our logs (relevent to this anyway), and we're not having httpd children crash from what i can tell. Any ideas on how i can increase my logs, or somehow prove that its not a bug in PHP, Apache, CentOS, ect? Or if it is somehow a bug, identify it?

• New Static Website with Hosted DNS alternating 502, 503 and Page Does Not Exist Errors

  This has become an increasingly frustrating ordeal. I'm mostly a web developer, so forgive me if I am using improper terminology here. I have a client that had purchased a domain at JustHost. We built him a website and have it on our own server space. Now, I'm mostly used to dealing with godaddy and it is simple enough to manage dns records and point the A record to our server IP, where Apache on our end deals with the domains via name-based virtual hosts. But for some reason, in setting this up with JustHost, when attempting to go to the domain name, I either get a 502 or 503 error or "webpage does not exist". Now, I know that the basic functionality of the webpage must be working because I can access the the index etc straight through my servers www data (IE [server-ip]/website_folder). I was on the phone with technical support for over three hours yesterday with justhost and the best I could get was "That's really weird..." I've checked my logs and there doesn't seem to be anything coming through to my end. Does anybody have an idea of whats going on here? I would love for it to be a problem on my end, because justhost doesn't seem capable of helping further. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. I forgot to mention that we have several other sites up and running and completely accessible.

• Getting kernel errors when manually mounting VirtualBox shared folders

  Updated: I've rephrased this problem as I understand it a bit more now (and have encountered another problem). I'm using a Fedora 15 guest on a Windows 7 host using VirtualBox. I am trying to mount a partition on the host PC as a shared folder for use in the guest. The folder appears in /media and is accessible when I use the auto-mount feature when setting up the shared folder, but when I attempt to mount without auto-mount I get the following error: $ sudo mount.vboxsf data /mnt/host_data /sbin/mount.vboxsf: Could not add an entry to the mount table.: Invalid argument In addition a popup appears (part of Fedora/GNOME) reporting a crash in the kernel package: WARNING: at lib/list_debug.c:26 __list_add+0x3e/0x81() However the shared folder seems to work, I can certainly browse it (although everything seems to be executable, probably down to a Windows host). Is there something wrong with what I'm doing or is this a bug (and in which case should it be reported to the Linux Kernel team or VirtualBox)?

• Sharing a folder with Nautilus and NTFS external drive gets errors

  I am trying to share a folder in Lubuntu over a network that's on an external NTFS drive. Due to the system that I have (rotating backup disks) this is probably the second time that the drive would of been mounted. Its manually mounted with a simple (for example) mount /dev/sdb1 /media/BACKUP On an internal NTFS disk I have successfully setup a network share and can access it. However on the external disk I can't from any other Windows computer. When setting up the share Nautilus said that it needs to change the other's permissions to allow for other users to write. However afterwords its still blank. Changing it to Read and Write just changes back to blank. Chowning the entire /media folder recursively and trying didn't work. Running PCManFM as root and changing didn't work. Adding "public=yes" to smb.conf and restarting didn't work. I'm out of idea's on what to do. What's weird is that it worked just fine on an internal NTFS disk, so why not the external one? Any solutions need to be able to managed inside of a gui (preferably Nautilus) as the person managing the machine isn't as tech savvy. Thanks

• Errors generating gpg keypair

  I posted this originally on stackoverflow, but was told that it was offtopic and this would be the better place to post it, so I am reposting it here and deleting my original topic. I have a rather old PGP key, but I've long ago lost the private key for it, so I'm trying to generate a new key with GPG on Windows 7. While it technically generates the key, GPA crashes every time I generate the keypair. I've tried this four times now and just downloaded what appears to be the latest version of Gpg4Win and am still receiving this problem. A comment on my original post informed me that GPA crashes is not a very good description of the problem, but unfortunately I can't do much better than that: all it tells me is "gpa.exe has crashed and will close now", I don't get an error dump or anything. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is this just a bug in the latest version of Gpg4Win? Here are the specs of GPG that I'm using: GPA 0.9.4. GnuPG 2.0.22. My operating system is Windows 7 64 Bit, and I have 5 GB of RAM. Also, I was told to try generating the keypair on the command line but can't find any documentation for how to do this in Windows 7. If anyone could link me to current documentation for this, that would be a good workaround for solving this problem.
