Needed features: Emulate protected CD/DVD like Daemon-Tools Mount multi-sector images Converting other formats (including multi-sector images) to ISO format. UPDATE - Updated question to "need the 3 features above instead of having them as optional". This 3 features are needed to be able to use images that have any of this features enable. • exporting a maya model to work with Playstation mobile Studio?

  Ive just started to program in Playstation Mobile Studio for the PS vita. The Models that are available to use in Ps Development have to .mdk models. The studio comes with a a model converter that converts from DAE, FBX, XSI and X files. However ive tried converting a maya scene to both DAE and FBX files but the converter returns an error with no explanation. Ive even tried to use blender and the tutorial here: http://www.gamefromscratch.com/post/2012/04/30/Exporting-from-Blender-to-PS-Suite-Blender-to-Vita-in-under-5-minutes.aspx but this fails at the converter too. With regards to maya all i do is export the file with default settings. Anyone know any good tutorials on this or guess why this would be happening?

  I have a legacy PHP application that was written in 2004 and uses MSSQL as a database backend. At this stage MSSQL is still supported by PHP but only just via a Microsoft driver. I have looked at converting to mysql via automated tools, which work quite well, but I have quite complex views which need a lot of individual work to convert. I don't have a great deal of time to do this. Many tools I wish to use and frameworks I would like to move the application to, don't support MSSQL, so I was considering adding new features using a new mysql database and wondered if anyone had opinions on the pros and cons of using two seperate database backends in a single application?

• PHP city-sim castle layout

  I am currently contemplating the layout system for my php based game but i've run into a couple of worries. So my idea is a 9X9 grid where the center 3X3 are inner castle. The inner castle will be 6X6 if you enter it(click on it). and with the option to expand the inner castle converting one of the 9X9 tiles to a 4X4 inner castle tile. So here is my question: What is the best way to tackle this type of layout? my original idea was a 18X18 grid and saving it in the db as (idCastle, Y, X) where X is a string of 18 numbers long telling me if the tile is an inner/outer tile or a inner/outer building. but i am not really fond of this idea and would like to hear some other ideas on how to tackle this.   Hi, I have tried installing asusfan and lm-sensors but I'm unable to control my fans to cool my laptop down sufficiently. Currently it overheats at about 100 degrees celsius and my sensors output somehow does not have any fan information on it: jackson@OLYMPIA:~$ sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +69.0°C (crit = +110.0°C) coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0001 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 1: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) I have checked my bios and there isn't any fan settings there. I can consistently overheat just by converting a video via Handbrake. I have ubuntu-desktop installed for a GUI. Is there a way for me to control my fans to start spinning before it reaches a critical temperature and kills itself?

• ".ts " files not recognised

  I have some .ts files (programs recorded from my Sharp TV on USB stick) that I want to store/play on my PC. However, although they are listed on the stick when its plugged in the PC nothing will recognize the files. I have tried VLC (the "slider" moves but there's no sound or video) and changed the extension to MPEG, MP2, etc. but no joy. I have tried converting the files with file converters and demuxers but none of these recognize the files. Are the files corrupted (they play on the TV) or do Sharp have a unique file structure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Webm videos converted with avconv not working properly

  I'm converting mp4 videos to webm with the following command: avconv -i INPUT.mp4 -c:v libvpx -qmin 10 -qmax 42 -maxrate 500k -bufsize 1000k -threads 2 -c:a libvorbis OUTPUT.webm Am I doing something wrong? Should I use all of these parameters? I just want to make the videos compatible with all the browsers/devices. The videos are not working on Firefox on most devices and on Chrome in a specific Android device that I have. EDIT: When i play the embeded videos on firefox, on any android device, it goes straight to the end and doesn't play. It only plays if i click in the progress bar. If i open the videos on firefox without embedding them in a html page, they seem to have a bigger width box outside then, while the video is inside it. I uploaded a video that i converted.   When learning about polymorphism you commonly see something like this class Base { int prv_member; virtual void fn(){} } class Derived : Base { int more_data; virtual void fn(){} } What is upcasting or downcasting? Is (Derived*)base_ptr; an upcast or downcast? I call it upcast because you are going away from the base into something more specific. Other people told me it is a downcast because you are going down a hierarchy into something specific with the top being the root. But other people seem to call it what i call it. When converting a base ptr to a derived ptr is it called upcasting or downcasting? and if someone can link to an official source or explain why its called that than great.

And that works for the following subdirectories, right? www.example.com/music/ Is there any other way to achieve this without using an index.html file? (I've read smth about converting dynamic urls to static: ./?var1=value1&varN=valueN - ./value1/valueN) How can I convert www.example.com/music/ to music.example.com/ and why should it be used? However, there are several reasons from a business stand point why converting our shop to open source would be questioned. • blurry images with mogrify & convert

  Does anyone know why this image is so blurry? I did a convert from pdf to png and it turned out like that. Before deleting imagemagick and it's entire toolset from software-center most of my image programs were displaying like this image. Now for the most part it's just blurry, though a couple still display like that such as gimp. I am running in xfce maybe it's to do with the distribution enviornment. Main issue is the absurd blurriness. I reinstalled all additional packages that were available for imagemagick in the software-center I use convert *.pdf *.png & mogrify -format png *.pdf to convert Now on the other hand if I converted the file to djvu and converted that to a tif. The images have no problem converting. More so it does not generate an oversized tif file of around 25mb compared to 3mb with djvu which is super clear & no blurriness.

  I've scoured the internet for the last few hours looking for an example of how to run even the most basic OpenGL ES 2 example using JOGL but "by Jupiter!" it has been a total fail. I tried converting the android example from the OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide examples (and at the same time looking at the WebGL example -- which worked fine) yet without any success. • Adapting Javascript game for mobile

  I'm currently developing a Javascript web game for desktop users. It is a sort of tower-defense game that relies on mouse input only, developed on canvas using EaselJS. In the future, or perhaps simultaneously, I would like to adapt the game for mobile devices. I can see at least 3 potential areas in shifting from desktop to mobile: 1. resolution size and UI rearrangement, 2. converting mouse events to touch events, 3. distribution as native app wrapper or mobile Web. What would be the best strategy to facilitate this desktop to mobile conversion? For example, should I try to code the game for both platforms, or port the game UI over to mobile by branching the code base. Should I just publish on the mobile Web or wrap the game in a native app framework? And if I were to code for both platforms using the same codebase, should I register both click and touch events, or remap click events to touch using dispatchEvent?

• Browser support for internal corporate tools

  We are on the verge of a conversion. For years, our company supported only IE for its internal (intranet) home-built tools. Since a few of our users are still on XP, which means IE only goes up to 8... a heavily JS / jQuery site wont even load! We have been in the process of converting to use Chrome instead, to make use of its javascript performance. But, it has now been suggested that we support all common browsers... internally for these tools. Which means more development time to scale-back some of these new applications, more time to test in all browsers, and we are already under staffed. Are there any good informational sites/posts out there, that already make this argument?

  What's the best way to create a neon glow line effect in Flash AS3? Say similar to what's going on in the game gravitron360 on the xbox 360? Would it be a good idea to create movieclips with plain lines drawn in them and then apply a glow filter to them? or perhaps just apply the glow filter to the entire movieclip layer the movieclips are on? or just draw them manually and create a glow effect by converting the lines to fills and then softening edges? (wouldn't blend as well but would be the fastest CPU wise?) Thanks for any help

  For converting a Java object model into XML I am using the following design: For different types of objects (e.g. primitive types, collections, null, etc.) I define each its own converter, which acts appropriate with respect to the given type. This way it can easily extended without adding code to a huge if-else-then construct. The converters are chosen by a method which tests whether the object is convertable at all and by using a priority ordering. The priority ordering is important so let's say a List is not converted by the POJO converter, even though it is convertable as such it would be more appropriate to use the collection converter. What design pattern is that? I can only think of a similarity to the command pattern.

  I have some mkv files, and while Totem plays them perfectly, when i use Devede to burn them to dvd it all gets messed up: the video is ok, but the audio is out of sync. I did see that Devede does write my dixv avi files correctly to disk. So i am thinking what the best way could be to convert my mkv for playback on dvd? I was thinking maybe converting them to avi first? But i did not find a good way for that to happen. What do you suggest?

  When converting your projects to VS2010 you get the question to migrate them to .net4. But even if you do not do that VS set the ASP.NET version to 4 for setup projects. And then when you try to install your application on a machine that does not have .NET 4 installed you will get the error message: “Could not open key: Software\Microsoft\ASP.NET\4.0.30128.0. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel” What you need to do is to change the ASP.NET version back to 2.0 if that is what you want to use. You do that in the properties of the setup project.

We are currently using the Ext 4.0 framework but there are questions being raised that it may not be the right framework to use. I like what Ext has to offer (rich GUIs, data package and class system) are there other frameworks out there that are similar? Are there frameworks out there tailored to medium/large software companies? Info: Potentially 100's of developers converting thick client screens to the web. Data modeling is important and well as rich GUI support. Maintainability and uniformity across multiple products important as well. Any info is greatly appreciated.
