  • How to modify a xml file using PHP? use a node to retrieve the value of new child nodes and add them

    - by Avinash Sonee
I have pasted the example of what I need here : http://pastie.org/1005178 I have a xml file with say the following info <state> <info> <name>hello</name> <zip>51678</zip> </info> <info> <name>world</name> <zip>54678</zip> </info> </state> Now I need to create a new xml file which has the following <state> <info> <name>hello</name> <zip>51678</zip> <lat>17.89</lat> <lon>78.90</lon> </info> <info> <name>world</name> <zip>54678</zip> <lat>16.89</lat> <lon>83.45</lon> </info> </state> So, basically I need to add lat and lon nodes to each info element. these lat and lon correspond to the zip code which are stored in a mysql file which contains 3 fields - pin, lat and lon How do i do this recursively. I have say 1000 info elements in a file Please give me a sample code because I have already tried using simplexml and read the documentation but doesn't see to understand it properly

  • Heroku DJango app development on Windows

    - by Cliff
I'm trying to start a Django app on Heroku using Windows and I'm getting stuck on the following error when I try to pip install psycopg2: Downloading/unpacking psycopg2 Downloading psycopg2-2.4.5.tar.gz (719Kb): 719Kb downloaded Running setup.py egg_info for package psycopg2 Error: pg_config executable not found. Please add the directory containing pg_config to the PATH or specify the full executable path with the option: python setup.py build_ext --pg-config /path/to/pg_config build ... or with the pg_config option in 'setup.cfg'. Complete output from command python setup.py egg_info: running egg_info creating pip-egg-info\psycopg2.egg-info writing pip-egg-info\psycopg2.egg-info\PKG-INFO writing top-level names to pip-egg-info\psycopg2.egg-info\top_level.txt writing dependency_links to pip-egg-info\psycopg2.egg-info\dependency_links.txt writing manifest file 'pip-egg-info\psycopg2.egg-info\SOURCES.txt' warning: manifest_maker: standard file '-c' not found I've googled the error and it seems you need libpq-dev python-dev as dependencies for postgres under Python. I also turned up a link that says you gt into trouble if you don't have the postgres bin folder in your Path so I installed Postgres manually and tried again. This time I get: error: Unable to find vcvarsall.bat I am still a python N00b so I am lost. Could someone point me in a general direction?

  • How to send connection type (SSH|Telnet) info in Radius Access Requests on Cisco router?

    - by Gianni Costanzi
I've configured the following on a cisco router: aaa authentication login default group radius local ! radius-server host x.x.x.x auth-port 1012 acct-port 1013 radius-server host y.y.y.y auth-port 1012 acct-port 1013 radius-server retransmit 1 radius-server timeout 3 radius-server key 7 xxxxxxxxx I'd like to be able to specify some radius options in order to add information about the type of connection for which a user is being authenticated, i.e. I'd like the radius server to receive in the Cisco Router's Radius Access Request information about the connection being SSH or Telnet.. I'd like to find something that automatically adds this info in the access request, without specific configurations on VTY lines dedicated to SSH and to Telnet. Any idea about that?

  • How can I remove the ssh last login info?

    - by Gnijuohz
Whenever I log into a server using ssh. The prompt gives me "last login" information. I was wondering where this information comes from. How can I remove this record so when someone else log into the same server, the person would see my login info with my ip in it? So how can I do this? For the record, I am not hacking someone's computer and the server runs Ubuntu 12.04. EDIT: which file logs this kind of information? If I find the file, then I can do anything to it as root. Thanks.

  • SSL / HTTP / No Response to Curl

    - by Alex McHale
I am trying to send commands to a SOAP service, and getting nothing in reply. The SOAP service is at a completely separate site from either server I am testing with. I have written a dummy script with the SOAP XML embedded. When I run it at my local site, on any of three machines -- OSX, Ubuntu, or CentOS 5.3 -- it completes successfully with a good response. I then sent the script to our public host at Slicehost, where I fail to get the response back from the SOAP service. It accepts the TCP socket and proceeds with the SSL handshake. I do not however receive any valid HTTP response. This is the case whether I use my script or curl on the command line. I have rewritten the script using SOAP4R, Net::HTTP and Curb. All of which work at my local site, none of which work at the Slicehost site. I have tried to assemble the CentOS box as closely to match my Slicehost server as possible. I rebuilt the Slice to be a stock CentOS 5.3 and stock CentOS 5.4 with the same results. When I look at a tcpdump of the bad sessions on Slicehost, I see my script or curl send the XML to the remote server, and nothing comes back. When I look at the tcpdump at my local site, I see the response just fine. I have entirely disabled iptables on the Slice. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing these results? Please let me know what additional information I can furnish. Thank you! Below is a wire trace of a sample session. The IP that starts with 173 is my server while the IP that starts with 12 is the SOAP server's. • annotationView didChangeDragState being fired multiple times

    - by RodH257
    I've got a draggable annotation in IOS4 mapkit, and I'm trying to call an event when the annotation is dragged to a new position. my code currently looks like: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)annotationView didChangeDragState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)newState fromOldState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)oldState { if (newState == MKAnnotationViewDragStateEnding) { CLLocationCoordinate2D droppedAt = annotationView.annotation.coordinate; NSLog(@"dropped at %f,%f", droppedAt.latitude, droppedAt.longitude); //update the annotation //see if its an information annotation if ([annotationView.annotation isKindOfClass:[InfoAnnotation class]]) { NSLog(@"Info annotation updating.."); InfoAnnotation* userAnnotation = ((InfoAnnotation *)annotationView.annotation); [userAnnotation updateLocationWithServerForConvoy: self.title]; } } } the code simply logs the update and then tells the annotation to send its update to my server, which is a custom method. This method seems to be getting fired multiple times, see the log here: 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.658 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.659 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.957 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.958 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.415 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.416 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.475 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.476 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.771 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.772 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating..   • H12 timeout error on Heroku

Can anyone shed some light on what's causing this timeout error on Heroku (at 2012-07-08T08:58:33+00:00)? The docs say that it's because of some long running process. I've set config.assets.initialize_on_precompile = false in config/application.rb. • Pyramid.security: Is getting user info from a database with unauthenticated_userid(request) really secure?

    - by yourfriendzak
I'm trying to make an accesible cache of user data using Pyramid doc's "Making A “User Object” Available as a Request Attribute" example. They're using this code to return a user object to set_request_property: from pyramid.security import unauthenticated_userid def get_user(request): # the below line is just an example, use your own method of # accessing a database connection here (this could even be another # request property such as request.db, implemented using this same # pattern). dbconn = request.registry.settings['dbconn'] userid = unauthenticated_userid(request) if userid is not None: # this should return None if the user doesn't exist # in the database return dbconn['users'].query({'id':userid}) I don't understand why they're using unauthenticated_userid(request) to lookup user info from the database...isn't that insecure? That means that user might not be logged in, so why are you using that ID to get there private info from the database? Shouldn't userid = authenticated_userid(request) be used instead to make sure the user is logged in? What's the advantage of using unauthenticated_userid(request)? Please help me understand what's going on here.

  • How to suggest changes as a recently-hired employee ?

    - by ereOn
Hi, I was recently hired in a big company (thousands of people, to give an idea of the size). They said they hired me because of my rigor and because I was, despite my youngness (i'm 25), experienced as a C/C++ programer. Now that I'm in, I can see that the whole system is old and often uses obsolete technologies. There is no naming convention (files, functions, variables, ...), they don't use Version Control, don't use exceptions or polymorphism and it seems like almost everybody lost his passion (some of them are only 30 years old). I'd like to suggest somes changes but i don't want to be "the new guy that wants to change everything just because he doesn't want to fit in". I tried to "fit in", but actually, It takes me one week to do what I would do in one afternoon, just because of the poor tools we're forced to use. A lot my collegues never look at the new "things" and techniques that people use nowadays. It's like they just given up. The situation is really frustrating. Have you ever been in a similar situation and, if so, what advices would you give me ? Is there a subtle way of changing things without becoming the black sheep here ? Or should I just give up my passion and energy as well ? Thank you.

  • How do I access the TFS workspace of an employee that has quit to review/check in some of the change

    - by Fadeproof
One of my co-workers has resigned and was made to leave the premises before checking in all of his code to TFS. I have access to the physical files. Is there a way for me to access his workspace and check in some of the changes that are still left unchecked in? From tfs I can see which files he has checked out but no way of seeing the exact changes unless very manually.

  • upload an m4a file in flex, saving it as a blob in oracle, and retrieving metadata info from it

    - by Angus
Hi, I currently have a FileUpload.mxml component that uploads a .m4a to an oracle database, retrieves metadata from the file and saves the metadata info in the database. to acheive this I use FileReference() and set up, amoung others, the dispatcher.addEventListener(DataEvent.UPLOAD_COMPLETE_DATA, completeHandler); So the file is posted to a php file which saves it as a blob. Once the blob is saved, the script sends a message back to flex to dispatch the upload_complete_data event. In the complete handler, the metadata is then retreived by reading the value back from the database into a custom made meta data reader. The metadata info is then saved via flex. This seems a little long winded. Has anyone else successfully achieved this using a different way?

  • Why does the WCF 3.5 REST Starter Kit do this?

    - by Brandon
I am setting up a REST endpoint that looks like the following: [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "?format=json", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] and [WebInvoke(Method = "DELETE", UriTemplate = "?token={token}&format=json", ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] The above throws the following error: UriTemplateTable does not support '?format=json' and '?token={token}&format=json' since they are not equivalent, but cannot be disambiguated because they have equivalent paths and the same common literal values for the query string. See the documentation for UriTemplateTable for more detail. I am not an expert at WCF, but I would imagine that it should map first by the HTTP Method and then by the URI Template. It appears to be backwards. If both of my URI templates are: ?token={token}&format=json This works because they are equivalent and it then appears to look at the HTTP Method where one is POST and the other is DELETE. Is REST supposed to work this way? Why are the URI Template Tables not being sorted first by HTTP Method and then by URI Template? This can cause some serious frustrations when 1 HTTP Method requires a parameter and another does not, or if I want to do optional parameters (e.g. if the 'format' parameter is not passed, default to XML).

  • RoR: Where is the "rails/info/properties" route defined?

    - by Dave Paroulek
I'm running Rails 2.3.4. When I create a new rails project, the public/index.html file has a link named "About your application's environment" that points to "rails/info/properties". In dev mode, it gives a summary of the runtime environment. However, in production mode, it gives a 404 page cannot be found. Could someone point me in the direction of how and where the "rails/info/properties" route is configured? I'd just like to understand how it's set up.

  • ASP.NET Session StateServer - is it possible to extract info about current sessions?

    - by Moe Sisko
I'm looking into changing the ASP.NET session state mode of our application from SQLServer to StateServer (for performance reasons). In SQLServer mode, it is easy to extract information about the current sessions by querying SQL Server tables like ASPStateTempSessions. e.g. things like when each session was created, when it is due to expire, etc. You could even query the session state blob data to extract further application specific info (e.g. like the UserID, if it was saved in session state). This info was useful for administrators. Just wondering if anyone has managed to do something similar for StateServer mode.

  • Jquery, ajax() and each(), how to wait untill all info is really loaded?

    - by Moustard
Hello, I have a function using $.ajax() to get values from an XML file, when the info is loaded and success event is fired, I use $(xml).find('').each(function(){}); to populate some vars... function getData() { $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url : 'info.xml', dataType: 'xml', success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('DATAS').each(function() { date = new Date($(this).attr('DATE')); alert(date); }) //Here I have a bigger find/each that should take more time }, error: function() { return false; } }); } In this case, when I trigger the function from the document ready function, the alert shows the right data, but If I remove the alert from the function and try this instead, date wont be defined yet: $(document).ready(function() { if(getData() != false) { alert(date); } }); I guess in this case the data is not ready yet? Is there a way to keep control on when the whole each() traversing is finished and ready?

  • Auto-creating a "link" table between 2 main tables (ex table EmployeeProject from Employee and Project tables)

    - by user573382
Hello! I have these 2 tables, Medication containing: IDMedication, IDCategory, Name, and Supplier, containing: IDSupplier, Name. I want to automatically create a relationship table, MedicationSupplier, containing: IDMedication and IDSupplier as keys, Price, and Quantity. My idea was to have a main page where i request the following data: (Medication)Name, IDCAtegory, (Supplier)Name, Price, Quantity. I'm not sure if i'm doing the right thing here. So this is what i'm receiveing in the .php where i do the insert: $Denumire=$_POST['Denumire']; //Medication Name $IDCategorie=$_POST['IDCategorie']; //IDCategory $Nume=$_POST['Nume']; //Supplier Name $Pret=$_POST['Pret']; //Price $Stoc=$_POST['Stoc']; //Quantity And this is my insert: $q_produse = "INSERT INTO produse VALUES ('','$IDCategorie','$Denumire')"; $q_prodfurniz = "INSERT INTO produsfurnizor VALUES ('','$IDFurnizor','$Pret','$Stoc')"; mysql_query($q_produse) or die($error); mysql_query($q_prodfurniz) or die($error); mysql_close(); My main problem at the moment is that i don't know how to insert IDMedication in the relationship table. Any help / suggestions of improving my code would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • phablet-flash aborting while installing Ubuntu Touch on Nexus 4

    - by Till B
I have a Nexus 4 with Android 4.3 installed and I want to flash it to Ubuntu Touch. My system is Ubuntu 12.04, running inside a virtual machine on Mac OS 10.5.8. To use the VM, I opened an NAT bridge and forwarded port 5037 for adb, I can see the Nexus with adb and e.g. use the adb shell into it. USB ports are also forwarded to the VM. I follow these instructions to the letter. My bootloader is unlocked, just as it was described in the instructions. Now I encounter different issues, when executing sudo phablet-flash ubuntu-system --no-backup. On the first run, it got stuck in this state: INFO:phablet-flash:Decompressing partitions/recovery.img from /home/till/Downloads/phablet-flash/imageupdates/pool/device-5ba3031cb0d6fc624848266edba781e3e821b6e1e8dd21105725f0ab26077d0a.tar.xz INFO:phablet-flash:Restarting device... wait INFO:phablet-flash:Restarting device... wait complete INFO:phablet-flash:Booting /tmp/tmpMSN8bm/partitions/recovery.img < waiting for device > downloading 'boot.img'... The bootloader shows only for two seconds, then the screen goes off and the phone stays off. But I do notice, that the screen is not off - it is just black, but the background light is on. If I wait long enough, phablet-flash aborts with ERROR:phablet-flash:Wait for recovery expired On the second try, I wanted to manually start the bootloader and choose "Recovery mode". Pressing "volume down+power" at first did nothing. Releasing the buttons and then pressing them again brought me into the bootloder. After choosing "Recovery mode", phablet-flash continued and after a while aborted with the following output: INFO:phablet-flash:Wait for recovery image to boot complete INFO:phablet-flash:Clearing /data and /cache INFO:phablet-flash:Pushing /home/till/Downloads/phablet-flash/imageupdates/pool/ubuntu-2b5345658b58e55207c4a4e7b6b3d8cd4f3d9a3187d2448fc9020c884234bac0.tar.xz to /cache/recovery/ failed to copy '/home/till/Downloads/phablet-flash/imageupdates/pool/ubuntu-2b5345658b58e55207c4a4e7b6b3d8cd4f3d9a3187d2448fc9020c884234bac0.tar.xz' to '/cache/recovery/': Permission denied ERROR:phablet-flash:Command 'adb push /home/till/Downloads/phablet-flash/imageupdates/pool/ubuntu-2b5345658b58e55207c4a4e7b6b3d8cd4f3d9a3187d2448fc9020c884234bac0.tar.xz /cache/recovery/' returned non-zero exit status 1 Removing directory /tmp/tmpDnbz6N Removing directory /tmp/tmpth4L6w What can I do to properly flash my phone with Ubuntu Touch? Should the phone be rooted? This is not mentioned in the instructions.

  • Developer Training – A Conclusive Summary- Part 5

    - by pinaldave
Developer Training - Importance and Significance - Part 1 Developer Training – Employee Morals and Ethics – Part 2 Developer Training – Difficult Questions and Alternative Perspective - Part 3 Developer Training – Various Options for Developer Training – Part 4 Developer Training – A Conclusive Summary- Part 5 We have now reached the end of our series about developer training.  I hope you have come away thinking that training is the best way to advance in your company and that you are looking for training opportunities right now.  If you’re still not convinced here are a few things to keep in mind:  Training benefits the employer and the employee. A well trained employee is a happy employee, and a happy employee is more efficient and productive. Training an employee might be expensive, but it is less expensive than hiring a new person. Whether you are looking at him from the employee’s or the company’s point of view, there are always advantages to training. A Broader View This series is definitely written for Developer Training but it is not limited to developers only. There are IT Pro, System Admins, DBAs as well many other technology professionals; this article series is for all professionals in the world. The concepts and take away will remain common across all the platform and regardless of technology affiliation. Pass the Knowledge If I have to pick one advise which is extremely important related to training, I will pick – pass the knowledge. Once you have decided in favor of training, there is more to it than simply showing up and staying awake.  It is always a good idea to take notes – at the very least it will help you stay awake, but they will often serve as a good way to remember your training when you go back to work.  You can also use them to pass your new knowledge on to fellow employees, which can be very fun and rewarding. Right Place, Right Time and Right Training There are so many ways to get developer training.  In-person and on the job training is easy to come by and is the most usual type of training, but don’t overlook my favorite type of training: On Demand.  Being able to learn at your own pace, own place and on your own time will make training a realistic goal for almost every employee. I can think of nothing more important in life than furthering your education.  Especially when you work in a field that is constantly changing – like technology.  Whether you like it or not, training is incredibly important.  That is why I feel it is so important to receive training.  And because there are so many different training formats – live, online, through books, through people – I am certain that we all can find a way to be trained that best suits our goals and personalities. The Teacher Within If you think of anyone who is a master of the technology field or an incredibly successful developer (the obvious examples that spring to mind are Steve Jobs or Bill Gates), you will also find a teacher.  Both these individuals spent their lives developing better technology, but also educating other developers and the public about how to use these technologies and how it can change your life for the better.  I think that we all should strive to be like these wonderful teachers.  We might not be able to change the world, but we can certainly change a few lives around us. Even if we never turn into trainers ourselves , being trained as a student can be a good exercise.  We learn a lot and become better employees – and it would not be a stretch to say that this makes us better individuals, as well. Final Say I think learning and growing in your chosen field is not only a good idea, career-wise, but can be fun, too!  I for one never feel more alive than when I am learning about something I am really passionate about.  I think my job title – technology evangelist – explains how enthusiastic I am about this subject.  But please don’t think that I am thinking of this as someone who wants to train and educate others (although this is also one of my passions).  I am also a passionate student.  I enjoy learning new things and am always on the lookout for new ways to learn and new people to learn from. • Chef-solo cannot locate an nginx recipe template

    - by crftr
I have been recently experimenting with Chef. I thought I would attempt to rebuild my personal web server using chef-solo. It's an AWS instance running the Amazon 64bit Linux AMI. My first objective is to install nginx. I have cloned the Opscode cookbook repository, and am using their nginx cookbook. My problem appears to be that chef-solo cannot find a template after it has started the process. • Eclipse Crashes on Ubuntu 11.10

    - by Adrian Matteo
I'm using Eclipse Indigo with aptana, to develope a rails application and it was working fine, but now it keeps crashing on startup. It opens and when the loading bars appear on the status bar, it goes gray (not responding) and the in closes without an error. • Tutorial: Getting Started with the NoSQL JavaScript / Node.js API for MySQL Cluster

    - by Mat Keep
Tutorial authored by Craig Russell and JD Duncan  The MySQL Cluster team are working on a new NoSQL JavaScript connector for MySQL. The objectives are simplicity and high performance for JavaScript users: - allows end-to-end JavaScript development, from the browser to the server and now to the world's most popular open source database - native "NoSQL" access to the storage layer without going first through SQL transformations and parsing. Node.js is a complete web platform built around JavaScript designed to deliver millions of client connections on commodity hardware. With the MySQL NoSQL Connector for JavaScript, Node.js users can easily add data access and persistence to their web, cloud, social and mobile applications. While the initial implementation is designed to plug and play with Node.js, the actual implementation doesn't depend heavily on Node, potentially enabling wider platform support in the future. Implementation The architecture and user interface of this connector are very different from other MySQL connectors in a major way: it is an asynchronous interface that follows the event model built into Node.js. To make it as easy as possible, we decided to use a domain object model to store the data. This allows for users to query data from the database and have a fully-instantiated object to work with, instead of having to deal with rows and columns of the database. The domain object model can have any user behavior that is desired, with the NoSQL connector providing the data from the database. To make it as fast as possible, we use a direct connection from the user's address space to the database. This approach means that no SQL (pun intended) is needed to get to the data, and no SQL server is between the user and the data. The connector is being developed to be extensible to multiple underlying database technologies, including direct, native access to both the MySQL Cluster "ndb" and InnoDB storage engines. The connector integrates the MySQL Cluster native API library directly within the Node.js platform itself, enabling developers to seamlessly couple their high performance, distributed applications with a high performance, distributed, persistence layer delivering 99.999% availability. The following sections take you through how to connect to MySQL, query the data and how to get started. Connecting to the database A Session is the main user access path to the database. You can get a Session object directly from the connector using the openSession function: var nosql = require("mysql-js"); var dbProperties = {     "implementation" : "ndb",     "database" : "test" }; nosql.openSession(dbProperties, null, onSession); The openSession function calls back into the application upon creating a Session. The Session is then used to create, delete, update, and read objects. Reading data The Session can read data from the database in a number of ways. If you simply want the data from the database, you provide a table name and the key of the row that you want. For example, consider this schema: create table employee (   id int not null primary key,   name varchar(32),   salary float ) ENGINE=ndbcluster; Since the primary key is a number, you can provide the key as a number to the find function. function onSession = function(err, session) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   session.find('employee', 0, onData); }; function onData = function(err, data) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   console.log('Found: ', JSON.stringify(data));   ... use data in application }; If you want to have the data stored in your own domain model, you tell the connector which table your domain model uses, by specifying an annotation, and pass your domain model to the find function. var annotations = new nosql.Annotations(); function Employee = function(id, name, salary) {   this.id = id;   this.name = name;   this.salary = salary;   this.giveRaise = function(percent) {     this.salary *= percent;   } }; annotations.mapClass(Employee, {'table' : 'employee'}); function onSession = function(err, session) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   session.find(Employee, 0, onData); }; Updating data You can update the emp instance in memory, but to make the raise persistent, you need to write it back to the database, using the update function. function onData = function(err, emp) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   console.log('Found: ', JSON.stringify(emp));   emp.giveRaise(0.12); // gee, thanks!   session.update(emp); // oops, session is out of scope here }; Using JavaScript can be tricky because it does not have the concept of block scope for variables. You can create a closure to handle these variables, or use a feature of the connector to remember your variables. The connector api takes a fixed number of parameters and returns a fixed number of result parameters to the callback function. But the connector will keep track of variables for you and return them to the callback. So in the above example, change the onSession function to remember the session variable, and you can refer to it in the onData function: function onSession = function(err, session) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   session.find(Employee, 0, onData, session); }; function onData = function(err, emp, session) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   }   console.log('Found: ', JSON.stringify(emp));   emp.giveRaise(0.12); // gee, thanks!   session.update(emp, onUpdate); // session is now in scope }; function onUpdate = function(err, emp) {   if (err) {     console.log(err);     ... error handling   } Inserting data Inserting data requires a mapped JavaScript user function (constructor) and a session. Create a variable and persist it: function onSession = function(err, session) {   var data = new Employee(999, 'Mat Keep', 20000000);   session.persist(data, onInsert);   } }; Deleting data To remove data from the database, use the session remove function. You use an instance of the domain object to identify the row you want to remove. Only the key field is relevant. function onSession = function(err, session) {   var key = new Employee(999);   session.remove(Employee, onDelete);   } }; More extensive queries We are working on the implementation of more extensive queries along the lines of the criteria query api. Stay tuned. How to evaluate The MySQL Connector for JavaScript is available for download from labs.mysql.com. Select the build: MySQL-Cluster-NoSQL-Connector-for-Node-js You can also clone the project on GitHub Since it is still early in development, feedback is especially valuable (so don't hesitate to leave comments on this blog, or head to the MySQL Cluster forum). Try it out and see how easy (and fast) it is to integrate MySQL Cluster into your Node.js platforms. You can learn more about other previewed functionality of MySQL Cluster 7.3 here
