• Problem processing large data using Applet-Servlet communication

  Hi everyone. I have an Applet that makes a request to a Servlet. On the servlet it's using the PrintWriter to write the response back to Applet: out.println("Field1|Field2|Field3|Field4|Field5......|Field10"); There are about 15000 records, so the out.println() gets executed about 15000 times. Problem is that when the Applet gets the response from Servlet it takes about 15 minutes to process the records. I placed System.out.println's and processing is paused at around 5000, then after 15 minutes it continues processing and then its done. Has anyone faced a similar problem? The servlet takes about 2 seconds to execute. So seems that the browser/Applet is too slow to process the records. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Please tell me what will be the best place to break and how should I modify the program so that once the if condition is satisfied I am out of the loop and start again with while loop.

• Problem in doing Add Web Reference (http://.../service.asmx)

  I am trying to Add a Web Reference to http//.../service.asmx file in my project. First it gives me an error: "... Unable to download following files from: http://.../service.asmx?wsdl Do you want to skip these files and continue ..." When i click 'Yes', the proxy gets created with .disco and other reference files, but does not adds .wsdl file. Other option i tried, i used http//.../service.asmx?wsdl to add web reference. In this case, i dont get any error, but the proxy gets added with .wsdl and reference files, but it does not adds .disco file. Can someone help me on why this is happening? I thought, adding web reference to .asmx should add everything under the proxy.

• Git: can I store known repositories along the repository?

  I am setting up a Git repository. I know you can add repositories using git config --global, but is there a way that those known repositories gets cloned by users? The goal would be that once the repo gets cloned by userz, they can push to other repos just by their aliases. For example, I add git://X/mobility.git as X to the repo (somehow), a user clone it from git://Y, but then can do git push X without previously doing the git config. How to do that?

  My primary concern is with the Java flavor, but I'd also appreciate information regarding others. Let's say you have a subpattern like this: (.*)(.*) Not very useful as is, but let's say these two capture groups (say, \1 and \2) are part of a bigger pattern that matches with backreferences to these groups, etc. So both are greedy, in that they try to capture as much as possible, only taking less when they have to. My question is: who's greedier? Does \1 get first priority, giving \2 its share only if it has to? What about: (.*)(.*)(.*) Let's assume that \1 does get first priority. Let's say it got too greedy, and then spit out a character. Who gets it first? Is it always \2 or can it be \3? Let's assume it's \2 that gets \1's rejection. If this still doesn't work, who spits out now? Does \2 spit to \3, or does \1 spit out another to \2 first?

  Hi Im trying to position an element so its slightly positioned outside its parent item. In IE8 it works but in IE7 the positioned element gets clipped. Here's my code HTML: <div id="parent"> <div id="child">text</div> </div> The CSS #parent { height: 40px; width: 400px; position: relative; } #child { position: absolute; width: 100px; height: 60px; top: 0px; left: 0px; } In IE7 you will see that the last 20px of the child element gets clipped. How can I solve this? THX

• Looking for design patterns to isolate framework layers from each other

  Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in "isolating" framework objects from each other (Spring, Hibernate, Struts). I'm beginning to see design "problems" where an object from one framework gets used in another object from a different framework. My fear is we're creating tightly coupled objects. For instance, I have an application where we have a DynaActionForm with several attributes...one of which is a POJO generated by the Hibernate Tools. This POJO gets used everywhere...the JSP populates data to it, the Struts Action sends it down to a Service Layer, the DAO will persist it...ack! Now, imagine that someone decides to do a little refactoring on that POJO...so that means the JSP, Action, Service, DAO all needs to be updated...which is kind of painful...There has got to be a better way?! There's a book called Core J2EE Patterns: Best Practices and Design Strategies (2nd Edition)...is this worth a look? I don't believe it touches on any specific frameworks, but it looks like it might give some insight on how to properly layer the application... Thanks!

• Content organizer auto create folder has wrong time in sharepoint 2010

  Hi, I have a problem, I am using the content organizer feature to redirect document on upload and the auto create folder feature of it, the property used is a date set by the user when the document gets uploaded. My problem is that when the folder gets created it writes the time set by the user minus two hours, I see that it uses GMT time while everything on the server, the site and the computers is set to UTC+2, so how come it still uses GMT time ? Can someone help me out please. Thank you.

  I have this function that gets the fileData as a byte array and a file path. The error I am getting is when it tries to set the fileInfo in the code bewlo. And the error message is 'E:/WEBS/webapp/default/images/mains/myimage.jpg' is a physical path, but a virtual path was expected. Also, what it is triggering this to happen is the following call properties.ResizeImage(imageName, Configurations.ConfigSettings.MaxImageSize, Server.MapPath(Configurations.EnvironmentConfig.LargeImagePath));

• form tag - is it required on ajax sites?

  i recently was working on an ASP.NET MVC site that basically serves static html and uses ajax gets to return data to the page when inputs are changed. there is actually no posting or getting from an html input tag on the pages at all. (it is a specific style of site that is not used by the general public, so having compatibility problems for people without javascript is not an issue) after designing the site, i realised that i hadn't even included any form tags. as the site does not use any direct posts or gets, and apart from it being just good html design, i wondered, in my particular situation, if there was any point to having any form tags on the page?

• Binding to a List<object> in silverlight problem.

  Hello, Can someone suggest what I am doing wrong? Basically I have a List Items, when an item gets added to the list I am resetting the collection to the viewmodel property. The only way I can get it to work is if I null the member object out before reassigning the binding. • Breakpoint when variable takes on a certain value.

  I have something analogous to the following code... void function(int x) { // complicated operation on x blah blah } It all appears to be working fine except when x happens to be a particular value, say "273". But x being 273 is a rare event, 99.999% of the time it is some other value. Now I wish to observe the events when this function is called with x=273, so I would like to insert a breakpoint that gets hit only with x is that value. Perhaps I could do it like this: void function(int x) { if (x == 273) { // put breakpoint on this line. } // complicated operation on x blah blah } The problem is that presumably the compiler will optimise away this "if" statement because it doesn't do anything. So my question is what should I put within the "if" statement to to make sure it gets compiled in to something... or should I be tracing the x==273 case in some completely different way.

  PreReq: User logs in and is given roles got from the database using a custom implementation of userService. i.e. authentication-provider user-service-ref="securityPolicyService" The implemented method loadUserByUsername gets called and the roles are load for the user for the particular club they are logging into, Default one is loaded first time in. The user then click on a different club from the UI and I call a method on a service that gets the new list of authorities for this club. I then perform the following: Object principle = SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication().getPrincipal(); SecureMember sm = (SecureMember) principle; Authentication auth = new UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken(sm, null, newAuthories); <br><br> SecurityContextHolder.getContext().setAuthentication(auth);<br> request.getSession(false).invalidate(); SecureMember extends User from SpringFramework. • HTML: When i hide a textbox in a Table, is it expected that the table reformats the space?

  Hi, i have a input type=text in a table (in a TD actually) When a user clicks a checkbox, the input is hidden with Jquery (via the hide method) This makes the style of the input to "display:none;" So far so good. Now, when that has happened, the row where the cell is in is shrunk (the height is lowered) because the only thing left in the row is a <span>, which height is lower than the input height. The net result of this is that the row gets smaller, and when you click the checkbox again the input re-appers and the row gets larger. That doesn't look so nice, so i wondered if there was a way to prevent this? And second: is this the way it should work (the table resizing)?

  I have a program that doesn't seem to recognize declared types in the latest U3D software. There's a line typedef BOOL (WINAPI* GMI)(HMON, LPMONITORINFOEX); which gets the error: Error 1 error C2061: syntax error : identifier 'LPMONITORINFOEX' c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 28 and a line MONITORINFOEX miMon; which gets Error 5 error C2065: 'miMon' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 Error 3 error C2065: 'MONITORINFOEX' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 The program's first non-comment statement is #include <windows.h>, which includes winuser.h, which defines these identifiers. In Visual Studio, I can right-click on them and go to the definition (a typedef) and from the typedef to the struct. WINAPI is defined in WinDef.h, so that seems to be working. There are no redefinitions of LPMONITORINFOEX or MONITORINFOEX in any other file. So, how can this be happening, and what can I do about it?

• (Django) Trim whitespaces from charField

  How do I strip whitespaces (trim) from the end of a charField in Django? Here is my Model, as you can see I've tried putting in clean methods but these never get run. I've also tried doing name.strip(), models.charField().strip() but these do not work either. Is there a way to force the charField to trim automatically for me?   I've been playing around in depth with attempting to write my own version of a memoizing decorator before I go looking at other people's code. It's more of an exercise in fun, honestly. However, in the course of playing around I've found I can't do something I want with decorators. def addValue( func, val ): def add( x ): return func( x ) + val return add @addValue( val=4 ) def computeSomething( x ): #function gets defined If I want to do that I have to do this: def addTwo( func ): return addValue( func, 2 ) @addTwo def computeSomething( x ): #function gets defined Why can't I use keyword arguments with decorators in this manner? What am I doing wrong and can you show me how I should be doing it?

• Pass page scope attributes to a JSP using pagecontext.include for use in JSTL?

  We're using this JSP template solution almost verbatim at work: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/jsp_templates/ When it gets JSP pages to be included, it uses pageContext.include, which leaves us with one problem, and that is that we have a lot of scriplet code that gets initialized in the JSP itself (tag soup). My thought was to modify the template tag with an additional attribute that is a package path reference to a class with an init or execute method. That execute would get called first, and would add page context attributes before including the JSP. We would then use JSTL to access those attributes. However, I was told this wouldn't work because of how pageContext.include works, and the inability to pass through attributes scoped to the page. Is that true, and are there workarounds? I'm so-so on knowing all my scoping rules.

  Transparent persistence allows you to use regular objects instead of a database. The objects are automatically read from and written to disk. Examples of such systems are Gemstone and Rucksack (for common lisp). Simplified version of what they do: if you access foo.bar and bar is not in memory, it gets loaded from disk. If you do foo.bar = baz then the foo object gets updated on disk. Most systems also have some form of transactions, and they may have support for sharing objects across programs and even across a network. • printing out posts

  Hi, I'm using the Firefox browser and trying to print out my posts (and replies). The pdf output doesn't include the comments in the posts. How to make sure that everything which is on the page gets printed? Same goes for codes for which are in a window. Only the visible part of the code gets printed. These are not programming questions :) but I hope that someone can suggest how to get proper printouts of the posts. Thanks a lot...

  I have two divisions, <div id=statuslist></div><div id=customerlist></div> The function sendReq() creates a xmlhttprequest and fetches the data into the division. sendReq('statuslist','./include/util.php?do=getstatuslist','NULL'); sendReq('customerlist','emphome.php?do=getcustomerlist','NULL'); I have a problem, The data fetched into the 'customerlist' gets copied onto 'statuslist' If i change the order of function calls, sendReq('customerlist','emphome.php?do=getcustomerlist','NULL'); sendReq('statuslist','./include/util.php?do=getstatuslist','NULL'); Now the data of 'statuslist' gets into 'customerlist'.. Whats the problem with the code?
