• Asking browsers to cache as aggressively as possible

  This is about a web app that serves images. Since the same request will always return the same image, I want the accessing browsers to cache the images as aggressively as possible. I pretty much want to tell the browser Here's your image. Go ahead and keep it; it's really not going to change for the next couple of days. No need to come back. Really. I promise. I do, so far, set Cache-Control: public, max-age=86400 Last-Modified: (some time ago) Expires: (two days from now) and of course return a 304 not modified if the request has the appropriate If-Modified-Since header. Is there anything else I can do (or anything I should do differently) to get my message across to the browsers? The app is hosted on the Google App Engine, in case that matters.

• How to delete a Dictionary row that is a Double by using an Int?

  Hi, I have a Dictionary object that is formed using a double as its key values. It looks like this: Dictionary<double, ClassName> VariableName = new Dictionary<double, ClassName>(); For my project I have to have the key as the double as I require values like 1.1,1.2,2.1,2.2,etc in my system. Everything in my system works great except when I want to delete all the keys in a group eg all the 1 values would be 1.1,1.2, etc. I can delete rows if I know the full value of the key eg 1.1 but in my system I will only know the whole number. I tried to do the following but get an error: DictionaryVariable.Remove(j => Convert.ToInt16(j.Key) == rowToEdit).OrderByDescending(j => j.Key); Is there anyway to remove all rows per int value by converting the key?   here's what the statement looks like: DELETE FROM videoswatched vw2 WHERE vw2.userID IN ( SELECT vw.userID FROM videoswatched vw JOIN users u ON vw.userID=u.userID WHERE u.companyID = 1000 GROUP BY userID ) that looks decent to me, and the SELECT statement works on its own (producing rows with a single column 'userID'. basically, i want to delete entries in the 'videoswatched' table where the userID in the videoswatched entry, after joining to the users table, is found to have companyID=1000. how can i do this without getting the error in my sql syntax? it says the error is near: vw2 WHERE vw2.userID IN ( SELECT vw.userID FROM videoswatched vw JOIN users u and on line 1. thanks!

  I manage a Django site where we host the media on a subdomain. There shouldn't be any requests for media to the main domain. However I keep seeing these requests for "x.gif" showing up in the access logs on the domain that's handled by WSGI (not the media domain). Can anyone explain what this is? • How do http proxies determine https traffic with a single port?

  If a proxy receives the tcp packet, then the destination ip address and port are that of the proxy. In that case, I imagine the only way a proxy can still resolve the intended destination is either through routing the source ip address/port or through the host field in the http header. Is this correct? In both Fiddler and Charles http proxies, I noticed that the tool accepts both http and https connections through a single port that you can specify. What do these tools do to tell the difference between the two types of connections?

And we need to delete all folders with "A" I try this: == RMDIR D:\A* /s /q <== but I get error :( del command works with * but I dont want to delete only files also I want to delete folders ... • Seeking htaccess help: Converting multiple subdomains (both http and https) to www.domain.com using .htaccess

  I've been trying to get an answer to this question on other forums (the folks at SuperUser thought this was the place I needed to post) and via my connections, but I haven't gotten very far. Hopefully you guys can help me find an answer: I've got a dozen old subdomains that have been indexed by Google. These have been indexed as both http AND https. I've managed to redirect all the subdomains properly, provided they are not https, but can't get any of the https subdomains to property redirect. Here's the code I'm using: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain1.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain2.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain3.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] This works great until someone goes to: https://subdomain2.mysite.com$ which is not redirected back to http://www.mysite.com$ How can I get this to work? Additionally, I'm guessing there is an easier way to make it happen than setting up a dozen pairs of Rewrite conditions/rewrite rule? Is there any way to do this in just a few lines, including one where I list all the subdomains? I'd actually also like to redirect everything on https://www.mysite.com$ to http://www.mysite.com$ except for 3 folders These are mysite.com/secure, mysite.com/store, mysite.com/user -- is there any good way to add this to the htaccess file? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you in advance for any help.

• Seeking .htaccess help: Converting multiple subdomains (both HTTP and HTTPS) to www.domain.com using .htaccess

  I've been trying to get an answer to this question on other forums (the folks at SuperUser thought this was the place I needed to post) and via my connections, but I haven't gotten very far. Hopefully you guys can help me find an answer. I've got a dozen old subdomains that have been indexed by Google. These have been indexed as both HTTP AND HTTPS. I've managed to redirect all the subdomains properly, provided they are not HTTPS, but can't get any of the HTTPS subdomains to property redirect. Here's the code I'm using: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain1.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain2.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain3.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] This works great until someone goes to: https://subdomain2.mysite.com$ which is not redirected back to http://www.mysite.com$ How can I get this to work? Additionally, I'm guessing there is an easier way to make it happen than setting up a dozen pairs of RewriteCond/RewriteRule? Is there any way to do this in just a few lines, including one where I list all the subdomains? I'd actually also like to redirect everything on https://www.mysite.com$ to http://www.mysite.com$ except for 3 folders. These are mysite.com/secure, mysite.com/store, mysite.com/user. Is there any good way to add this to the .htaccess file?

  I'm wondering how frequently organisations use SOCKS5 as their web proxy protocol over, say, HTTP or authenticated HTTP proxies. Should an application even bother supporting SOCKS5 as an HTTP proxy? What percentage of organisations use SOCKS as a HTTP proxy? If you work in an organisation where you use SOCKS5, particularly authenticated SOCKS5, as the means of achieving HTTP Internet connectivity I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. If you have experience with requirements for SOCKS5 proxies in your software I'd like to hear your thoughts too.

• How-to delete a tree node using the context menu

  Hierarchical trees in Oracle ADF make use of View Accessors, which means that only the top level node needs to be exposed as a View Object instance on the ADF Business Components Data Model. This also means that only the top level node has a representation in the PageDef file as a tree binding and iterator binding reference. Detail nodes are accessed through tree rule definitions that use the accessor mentioned above (or nested collections in the case of POJO or EJB business services). The tree component is configured for single node selection, which however can be declaratively changed for users to press the ctrl key and selecting multiple nodes. In the following, I explain how to create a context menu on the tree for users to delete the selected tree nodes. For this, the context menu item will access a managed bean, which then determines the selected node(s), the internal ADF node bindings and the rows they represent. As mentioned, the ADF Business Components Data Model only needs to expose the top level node data sources, which in this example is an instance of the Locations View Object. For the tree to work, you need to have associations defined between entities, which usually is done for you by Oracle JDeveloper if the database tables have foreign keys defined Note: As a general hint of best practices and to simplify your life: Make sure your database schema is well defined and designed before starting your development project. Don't treat the database as something organic that grows and changes with the requirements as you proceed in your project. Business service refactoring in response to database changes is possible, but should be treated as an exception, not the rule. Good database design is a necessity – even for application developers – and nothing evil. To create the tree component, expand the Data Controls panel and drag the View Object collection to the view. From the context menu, select the tree component entry and continue with defining the tree rules that make up the hierarchical structure. As you see, when pressing the green plus icon  in the Edit Tree Binding  dialog, the data structure, Locations -  Departments – Employees in my sample, shows without you having created a View Object instance for each of the nodes in the ADF Business Components Data Model. After you configured the tree structure in the Edit Tree Binding dialog, you press OK and the tree is created. Select the tree in the page editor and open the Structure Window (ctrl+shift+S). In the Structure window, expand the tree node to access the conextMenu facet. Use the right mouse button to insert a Popup  into the facet. Repeat the same steps to insert a Menu and a Menu Item into the Popup you created. The Menu item text should be changed to something meaningful like "Delete". Note that the custom menu item later is added to the context menu together with the default context menu options like expand and expand all. To define the action that is executed when the menu item is clicked on, you select the Action Listener property in the Property Inspector and click the arrow icon followed by the Edit menu option. Create or select a managed bean and define a method name for the action handler. Next, select the tree component and browse to its binding property in the Property Inspector. Again, use the arrow icon | Edit option to create a component binding in the same managed bean that has the action listener defined. • MSMQ messages using HTTP just won't get delivered

  I'm starting off the blog with a discussion of an unusual problem that has hit a couple of my customers this month. It's not a problem you'd expect to bump into and the solution is potentially painful. Scenario You want to make use of the HTTP protocol to send MSMQ messages from one machine to another. You have installed HTTP support for MSMQ and have addressed your messages correctly but they will not leave the outgoing queue. There is no configuration for HTTP support - setup has already done all that for you (although you may want to check the most recent "Installation of the MSMQ HTTP Support Subcomponent" section of MSMQINST.LOG to see if anything DID go wrong) - so you can't tweak anything. Restarting services and servers makes no difference - the messages just will not get delivered. The problem is documented and resolved by Knowledgebase article 916699 "The message may not be delivered when you use the HTTP protocol to send a message to a server that is running Message Queuing 3.0". It is unlikely that you would be able to resolve the problem without the assistance of PSS because there are no messages that can be seen to assist you and only access to the source code exposes the root cause. As this communication is over HTTP, the IIS logs would be a good place to start. POST entries are logged which show that connectivity is working and message delivery is being attempted: #Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0 #Version: 1.0 #Date: 2006-09-12 12:11:29 #Fields: date time s-sitename s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status 2006-09-12 12:12:12 W3SVC1 10.1.17.219 POST /msmq/private$/test - 80 - 10.2.200.3 - 200 0 0 If you capture the traffic with Network Monitor you can see the POST being sent to the server but you also see a response being returned to the client: HTTP: Response to Client; HTTP/1.1; Status Code = 500 - Internal Server Error "Internal Server Error" means we can probably stop looking at IIS and instead focus on the Message Queuing ISAPI extension (Mqise.dll). MSMQ 3.0 (Windows XP and Windows Server 2003) comes with error logging enabled by default but the log files are in binary format - MSMQ 2.0 generated logging in plain text. The symbolic information needed for formatting the files is not currently publicly available so log files have to be sent in to Microsoft PSS.  Although this does mean raising a support case, formatting the log files to text and returning them to the customer shouldn't take long. Obviously the engineer analyses them for you - I just want to point out that you can see the logging output in text format if you want it. The important entries in the log for this problem are: [7]b48.928 09/12/2006-13:20:44.552 [mqise GetNetBiosNameFromIPAddr] ERROR:Failed to get the NetBios name from the DNS name, error = 0xea [7]b48.928 09/12/2006-13:20:44.552 [mqise RPCToServer] ERROR:RPC call R_ProcessHTTPRequest failed, error code = 1702(RPC_S_INVALID_BINDING) which allow a Microsoft escalation engineer to check the MQISE source code to see what is going wrong. This problem according to the article occurs when the extension tries to bind to the local MSMQ service after the extension receives a POST request that contains an MSMQ message. MSMQ resolves the server name by using the DNS host name but the extension cannot bind to the service because the buffer that MSMQ uses to resolve the server name is too small - server names that are exactly 15 characters long will not fit. RPC exception 0x6a6 (RPC_S_INVALID_BINDING) occurs in the W3wp.exe process but the exception is handled and so you do not receive an error message. The workaround is to rename the MSMQ server to something less than 15 characters. If the problem has only just been noticed in a production environment - an application may have been modified to get through a newly-implemented firewall, for example - then renaming is going to be an issue. Other applications may need to be reinstalled or modified if server names are hard-coded or stored in the registry. The renaming may also break a company naming convention where the name is built up from something like location+department+number. In fact, even if you DON'T want to learn anything about MSMQ logging you should read the FAQ anyway as there is a huge amount of useful information on known issues and the like.

• What is causing my HTTP server to fail with "exit status -1073741819"?

  As an exercise I created a small HTTP server that generates random game mechanics, similar to this one. I wrote it on a Windows 7 (32-bit) system and it works flawlessly. However, when I run it on my home machine, Windows 7 (64-bit), it always fails with the same message: exit status -1073741819. I haven't managed to find anything on the web which references that status code, so I don't know how important it is. • Why delete-orphan needs "cascade all" to run in JPA/Hibernate ?

  Hello, I try to map a one-to-many relation with cascade "remove" (jpa) and "delete-orphan", because I don't want children to be saved or persist when the parent is saved or persist (security reasons due to client to server (GWT, Gilead)) But this configuration doesn't work. When I try with cascade "all", it runs. My entity has no relation with other entities. • How do I delete folders in bash after successful copy (Mac OSX)?

  Hello! I recently created my first bash script, and I am having problems perfecting it's operation. I am trying to copy certain folders from one local drive, to a network drive. I am having the problem of deleting folders once they are copied over, well and also really verifying that they were copied over). Is there a better way to try to delete folders after rsync is done copying? I was trying to exclude the live tv buffer folder, but really, I can blow it away without consequence if need be. • How to delete a row from a typed dataset and save it to a database?

  I am doing this as a small project to learn about disconnected and connected models in .NET 4.0 and SQL Server 2008 R2. I have three tables: Companies (PK CompanyID) Addresses (PK AddressID, FK CompanyID) ContactPersons (PK ContactPersonID, FK CompanyID) CompanyID is assigned manually by the users. The other IDs are auto-generated. Companies has a one-to-many relationship with ContactPerson. I have set any changes to cascade. I display all records in Companies in a DataGridView and when a row is clicked, the corresponding records in ContactPersons are displayed in a second DataGridView. I have successfully implemented updating and inserting new records but I completely fail in my attempts to delete rows and save the changes to the database. I us a typed dataset. If I use this: DataRow[] contactPersonRows = m_SoldaCompaniesFileDataSet.ContactPersons.Select("ContactPersonID = " + this.m_CurrentContactPerson.ContactPersonID); m_SoldaCompaniesFileDataSet.ContactPersons.Rows.Remove(contactPersonRows[0]); The records are displayed properly in the DataGridView but are not saved in the database later. If I use this: DataRow row = m_SoldaCompaniesFileDataSet.ContactPersons.Rows.Find(this.m_CurrentContactPerson.ContactPersonID); row.Delete(); The records are set but I get an exeception: DeletedRowInaccessibleException, when I try to refresh the DataGridView. The exception pop-s up in the auto-generated dataset.design file. I am pretty much stuck at this point since yesterday. I cannot find anything anywhere that remotely resembles my problem. And I cannot understand actually what is going on.

  I'm having an issue accessing raw request information from PHP when accessing a script using the HTTP DELETE directive. I'm using a JS front end which is accessing a script using Ajax. This script is actually part of a RESTful API which I am developing. The endpoint in this example is: http://api.site.com/session This endpoint is used to generate an authentication token which can be used for subsequent API requests. Using the GET method on this URL along with a modified version of HTTP Basic Authentication will provide an access token for the client. This token must then be included in all other interactions with the service until it expires. Once a token is generated, it is passed back to the client in a format specified by an 'Accept' header which the client sends the service; in this case 'application/json'. Upon success it responds with an HTTP 200 Ok status code. Upon failure, it throws an exception using the HTTP 401 Authorization Required code. Now, when you want to delete a session, or 'log out', you hit the same URL, but with the HTTP DELETE directive. To verify access to this endpoint, the client must prove they were previously authenticated by providing the token they want to terminate. If they are 'logged in', the token and session are terminated and the service should respond with the HTTP 204 No Content status code, otherwise, they are greeted with the 401 exception again. Now, the problem I'm having is with removing sessions. With the DELETE directive, using Ajax, I can't seem to access any parameters I've set once the request hits the service. In this case, I'm looking for the parameter entitled 'token'. I look at the raw request headers using Firebug and I notice the 'Content-Length' header changes with the size of the token being sent. This is telling me that this data is indeed being sent to the server. The question is, using PHP, how the hell to I access parameter information? It's not a POST or GET request, so I can't access it as you normally would in PHP. The parameters are within the content portion of the request. I've tried looking in $_SERVER, but that shows me limited amount of headers. I tried 'apache_request_headers()', which gives me more detailed information, but still, only for headers. I even tried 'file_get_contents('php://stdin');' and I get nothing. How can I access the content portion of a raw HTTP request? Sorry for the lengthy post, but I figured too much information is better than too little. :)
