    I just installed CF64 on a WinServer2008x64 machine. Previously a whole array of classic ASP and ASP.Net apps were functioning, after the CF install they're not. I'm getting an http 500 on everything not coldfusion. I believe it's a mapping issue.   • Ok, i know i messed things up pretty bad..... virtualmin sub domain user taken over root login

    ok, here is the scenario, i was playing around the import wizard and imported a subdomain i had created on a linode and now im having trouble cause the user i assigned to the subdomain is root. Now when i log into webmin / usermin / virtualmin with my root credentials, i end up administering a sub domain instead of working on the webmin root console. Is there a way of a) deleting the virtualhost completely from usermin using ssh? b) rectifying this ..

  • Icons: How does a developer with no design skill make his/her application icons look pretty?

    I probably spend far too much time trying to make my visual interfaces look good, and while I'm pretty adept at finding the right match between usability and style one area I am hopeless at is making nice looking icons. How do you people overcome this (I'm sure common) problem? I'm thinking of things like images on buttons and perhaps most important of all, the actual application icon. Do you rely on third party designers, in or out of house? Or do you know of some hidden website that offers lots of icons for us to use? I've tried Google but I seem to find either expensive packages that are very specific, millions of Star Trek icons or icons that look abysmal at 16x16 which is my preferred size on in-application buttons. Any help/advice appreciated.

Edit n°1 installed xsane (via Ubuntu Software Center), launched it and get the following: Clicking on "Help" yields: I tried 4) man sane-dll which yields No manual entry for sane-dll I uninstalled "Simple Scan": didn't help. I tried 3) but aborted due to unsettling warning ;) wasn't that brave (or desperate). Maybe it's due to 1) and I'm stuck with it? Is it really not possible that a driver for either Windoze or Mac OS would also support scanning via Ubuntu? Edit n°2 Resorted to Windows XP and the Network TWAIN Driver ScanRouter or the "lite" version (which I found elsewhere) might also work (under Linux??); but it's more than I need. Thought about WINE, but also that seems to rely on SANE... So still no luck with this device's scanning capabilities with Linux (but good enough (via xp) for my purposes)...

    After one has generated many grid based puzzles like sudoku, kakuro or even plain crosswords and now one has to print them in a book. How does one make a pdf (book file) from them automatically. To explain the question better. One has the puzzle ready in computer format like ..35.6.89 for all nine rows. The dot being the empty cell. How does one convert then to a picture on a PDF page complete with box, automatically without doing them individually and then print a book from the pdf file. As can be seen there are other things also printed on the page all this is done automatically.

  • Will the Canon Pixma MX882 Wireless Multifunction Printer allow you to keep printing once one ink cartridge has run out?

    My wife's Epson Workforce 600 has died, and I'm thinking of replacing it with a Canon Pixma MX882 printer/scanner/copier/fax. One of the most annoying things about the Epson is that once it has decided that one of the ink cartridges is empty, it will not let you print anything until the empty cartridge is replaced. I have a Canon IP1800 that will let you print until a cartridge actually runs out of ink, and even when a cartridge is depleted, I can continue to print using the other colors. (The driver allows you to print using only the color cartridges or using only the black cartridge.) Questions: Will the Canon Pixma MX882 allow me to print until the ink runs out or will it declare the cartridge empty while ink is still left? Will the Canon Pixma MX882 allow me to keep printing even after one of the cartridges has been used up?

    I have an old Epson printer that does not have network adapter, only a USB socket. I have also a computer with network card. I could combine them to put this printer in my local network, but then I would need to keep the computer always up and running. That's definitely not economic. Is there a way to wake up computer when printing request arrives? Something like Wake-on-LAN? Or I am forced to use additional hardware?

    I have set up my function for checking for a number in a String, and printing out that String if it has no numbers, and putting up an error message if it does.   • Printing special / extended characters on web page - Firefox or printer issue?

    My dad brought this to my attention and I'm looking into it, but thought I'd post here and see if anyone has any ideas... He's running Win7, using Firefox and printing to a wireless connected Brother HL-2170W printer. He's got a web page (http://cornandsoybeandigest.com/inputs/fertilizer/applying-nitrogen-after-planting-0512/index.html) that has extended/special characters in it - the funny "a" in Fernandez. The characters show correctly in Firefox on the page. He printed it, and the extended "a" printed as a diamond with a question mark. He says it shows that way in the print preview, too. I pulled up the same page in Ubuntu, Firefox, and it displayed in my print preview and physically printed everything correctly. I just checked on my wife's Win7 PC in Firefox and the print preview looked correct on her system, too. We have a Brother 2040 here. Soooo, my question is, is this possibly a problem in the browser somehow, or the printer driver? I'm leaning towards the printer driver now, but I can't say I've run into this before. Is it a setting somewhere? I just installed this printer for him the other day, using the CD that came with it; I could try updating the driver from Brother's website I guess. Is there anything else I should look at or check? Thanks!

  • What is a fast way to set debugging code at a given line in a function?

    Preamble: R's trace() is a powerful debugging tool, allowing users to "insert debugging code at chosen places in any function". Unfortunately, using it from the command-line can be fairly laborious. As an artificial example, let's say I want to insert debugging code that will report the between-tick interval calculated by pretty.default(). I'd like to insert the code immediately after the value of delta is calculated, about four lines up from the bottom of the function definition. (Type pretty.default to see where I mean.) To indicate that line, I need to find which step in the code it corresponds to. The answer turns out to be step list(c(12, 3, 3)), which I zero in on by running through the following steps: as.list(body(pretty.default)) as.list(as.list(body(pretty.default))[[12]]) as.list(as.list(as.list(body(pretty.default))[[12]])[[3]]) as.list(as.list(as.list(body(pretty.default))[[12]])[[3]])[[3]] I can then insert debugging code like this: trace(what = 'pretty.default', tracer = quote(cat("\nThe value of delta is: ", delta, "\n\n")), at = list(c(12,3,3))) ## Try it a <- pretty(c(1, 7843)) b <- pretty(c(2, 23)) ## Clean up untrace('pretty.default') Questions: So here are my questions: Is there a way to print out a function (or a parsed version of it) with the lines nicely labeled by the steps to which they belong? Alternatively, is there another easier way, from the command line, to quickly set debugging code for a specific line within a function? Addendum: I used the pretty.default() example because it is reasonably tame, but with real/interesting functions, repeatedly using as.list() quickly gets tiresome and distracting.   • Can't set up printing from Mac OS X (10.5.7) to an HP PSC 2410 shared from PC running Ubuntu 9.10

    I've got an HP PSC 2410 printer shared from a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 installation. I'm able to send documents to this printer over the network from another Ubuntu machine. But so far, I haven't been able to find a setup where I can send documents to that printer from a MacBook running 10.5.7. On the Mac side, when setting things up, I go into System Prefs Print & Fax, click on the "+" mark, select "IP", pick "IPP", enter the IP address of the Ubuntu box, leave the queue blank, enter the Name and location, and I think it's when I get to the "Print Using" (driver selection) part that I'm running into issues. If I use "Auto Select", it defaults to "Generic PostScript Printer", which I doubt the PSC 2410 is (and sure enough, if I print, the jobs don't go through). If I try "Select a driver to use...", there's not an option for an HP PSC 2400. This seems a little odd: I can plug the printer directly into one of our Macs and it immediately figures out the driver and I can print no problem, but that's apparently the way things work. So, that leaves one option: "Other", which, when selected, brings up a dialog apparently for the purpose of manually locating a driver. I've tried visiting HP's web site. They have drivers for earlier versions of Mac OS X, but state that after 10.4, Mac OS X should just come with the relevant drivers. I've also tried setting things up by interacting with the CUPS server on the Mac through a browser: I go to http://localhost:631/, select "Add New Printer", pick "Internet Printing Protocol (http)" for the Device selection, enter "http://ubuntu.machine.ip.address:631/printers/hp-psc-2400-series" for the Device URI, select "HP" for Make, and then on the next screen, we're back to the problem where the PSC 2400 just doesn't show up. There's an option to "provide a PPD file", which I assume would be the printer driver I can't find. A Google search for "HP PSC 2410 ppd Leopard" doesn't seem to yield much other than a reminder that the printer is supposed to just work out of the box on Leopard. A local search for ".ppd" or "2410" on either Mac also doesn't yield anything that looks like a relevant print driver. I'm totally stuck at this point. Any advice?

Basically if I write: foreach (ListItem item in items) { item.Text = "something"; } I want it to appear in the correct colours like it does in my Visual Studio or here at stack*overflow*. I'm bored of styling the colours of each key word manually. Is there a pre-existing javascript library I can use?

  • Removing page title and date when printing web page (with CSS?)

    By default, when you print a web page, the page title and and URL are printed at the top of the page, and likewise the date and time are printed at the bottom. It is possible to remove this additional as you are printing through the PAGE SETUP menu (under FILE in Internet Exp) Does anyone know of a way of doing this via CSS or javascript?

  • Is there any way to disable Erubis from printing "** Erubis 2.6.5" when starting the Rails environme

    I have several frequent Cron jobs that are run via Rake and the output of those jobs are e-mailed (via a MAILTO). Due to the fact that these tasks load the Rails environment (which includes Erubis) they always prints out "** Erubis 2.6.5" on startup. This means that an e-mail is always generated since Cron receives output. Is there any way to configure Erubis to cease printing this startup message to the console?
