• Groovy: Dynamically addings methods with a specific signature.

  So, I need to dynamically create (or inject) methods into an object that have a specific return type and method signature, because a Java tool we're using will be finding this methods via Reflection and checks for void type. Method names will be determined at runtime. Using metaClass. = { ... } however adds a closure which doesn't show up as a regular method (even if it can be used as one) and also has a return type. I can't modify the method finding code, and it it not Groovy-aware. I can't use methodMissing() or invokeMethod() because the method needs to actually exist. If I could overload class.getMethods() I think it would be possible, but I can't figure out how. Is there any way to do this in Groovy?

  I want to divide a list in "a specific number of" sublists. That is, for example if I have a list List(34, 11, 23, 1, 9, 83, 5) and the number of sublists expected is 3 then I want List(List(34, 11), List(23, 1), List(9, 83, 5)). How do I go about doing this? I tried grouped but it doesn't seem to be doing what I want. PS: This is not a homework question. Kindly give a direct solution instead of some vague suggestions.

  I have a large directory tree of files, and am using the following script to list and replace a searched-for name with a specific file. Problem is, I don't know how to write the createList() for-loop correctly to account for whitespace in a directory name. If all directories don't have spaces, it works fine.   Hi, I have an image which is 80px X 50 px, and I need to place that in one of the child of a FrameLayout, how can I specific the layout_width and layout_height of a Framelayout which fits an image without scaling it? I know there is a layout_height="wrap_content" layout_wight="wrap_content" for FrameLayout, but I can't use it, since that FrameLayout has other children. So I would like to hard code the FrameLayout width/height to match the dimension of the image? Should I use layout_width="80px" or layout_width="80dip"? Thank you.

  i'm using the following regular expression to form a basic email validation. var emailRegEx = /^([a-zA-Z0-9])(([a-zA-Z0-9])*([\._\+-])*([a-zA-Z0-9]))*@(([a-zA-Z0-9\-])+(\.))+([a-zA-Z]{2,4})+$/; this works pretty well for what i need but i also need to exclude these specific characters for reasons i won't go into. !,#,$,%,^,&,*,(,),-,+,|,{,},[,],:,>,<,?,/,\,= - (the characters between the "," if that isn't clear) could someone help me with adding the second group to the first? I know the pro's and cons of using javascript to validate email addresses - i have to do it this way. thanks.

• How to tell MATLAB to open and save specific files in the same directory

  I have to run an image processing algorithm on numerous images in a directory. An image is saved as name_typeX.tif, so there are X different type of images for a given name. The image processing algorithm takes an input image and outputs an image result. I need to save this result as name_typeX_number.tif, where 'number' is also an output from the algorithm for a given image. Now.. How do I tell MATLAB to open a specific 'typeX' file? Also note that there are other non-tif files in the same directory. How to save the result as name_typeX_number.tif? The results have to be saved in the same directory where the input images are present. How do I tell MATLAB NOT to treat the results that have been saved as an input images? Fit image in viewing region, do not enlarge if image is smaller Size image so it fits snuggly inside the viewing region (enlarge if necessary) -- the image is as large as possible while still fitting within the viewing region Size image so that it fills the entire viewing region -- the image will be the same size or bigger than the viewing region 1:1 ratio; 1 pixel in the image corresponds to 1 pixel on screen All zooming options maintain aspect ratio. Stretching is just ugly, so it's not an option :)

  (= 2 (+ 1 1)) take the above. The requirement of the '=' predicate is that its arguments be comparable. Any two structures are comparable in this case, and so the contract/requirement is pretty generic. The '+' predicate requires that its arguments be numbers. That's more specific. (socket domain type protocol) the arguments here are much more specific (even though the arguments are still just numbers and the function itself returns a file descriptor, which is itself an int), but the arguments are more abstract, and the implementation is built up from other functions whose abstractions are less abstract, which are themselves built from less and less abstract abstractions. To the point where the requirements are something like move from one location to another, observe whether the switch at that location is on or off, turn the switch on or off, or leave it the same, etc. But are functions also less and less complex the less abstract they are? And is there a relationship between the number and range of arguments of a function and the complexity of its implementation, as you go from more abstract to less abstract, and vice versa? (= 2 (+ 1 1) 2r10) the '=' predicate is more generic than the '+' predicate, and thus could be more complex in its implementation. The '+' predicate's contract is less generic, and so could be less complex in its implementation. Is this even a little correct? What about the 'socket' function? Each of those arguments is a number of some kind. What they represent, though, is something more elaborate. It also returns a number (just like the others do), which is also a representation of something conceptually much more elaborate than a number. To boil it down, I'm asking if there is a relationship between the following dimensions, and why: Abstract/Concrete Complex/Simple Generic/Specific And more specifically, do different configurations of these dimensions have a specific, measurable impact on the number and range of the arguments (i.e., the contract) of a function?

• WCF Publish/Subscribe and using callbacks to send data to specific users

  Hello thanks for looking, I'm working on a project at the moment and have become a little stuck. I'm creating a client server app, which allows a client to subscribe to the server to have messages forwarded to it. The issue I'm having is that when the client subscribes I wish for them to only recieve updates that relate to them. The system basically passes messages from a SQL server DB which the server monitors. When a new message is recieved the server should only forward the message to the clients that it applys to, based on whos logged on the client machine. I've had a look and found code samples which sign up for messages to be broadcast across all clients who have subscribed, but not any that show how to identify individual clients and if messages apply to them. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.   I was working with a friend on a project, and he edited a bunch of files that shouldn't have been edited. Somehow I merged his work into mine, either when I pulled it, or when I tried to just pick the specific files out that I wanted. I've been looking and playing for a long time, trying to figure out how to remove the commits that contain the edits to those files, it seems to be a toss up between revert and rebase, and there are no straightforward examples, and the docs assume I know more than I do. • Non-deprecated code for detecting whether a SharePoint User has a specific Permission Level

  In our application, we have some forms which need to show some data specifically if the current user has a specific permission level. These users belong to an SPGroup which includes users who should not see this data, so in this particular case I cannot filter based off of group membership. My current solution has been to use web.CurrentUser.Roles and use a simple check on whether it contains a permission level of the correct name. Roles is of the deprecated SPRole class, so I am bombarded with warning messages despite the fact it technically works. It suggests that I use SPRoleAssignment or SPRoleDefinition (the recommendation seems arbitrary since some lines recommend one while others recommend the other even though it is being used for the same thing). However, I cannot seem to find any method to directly retrieve an SPRoleAssignment or SPRoleDefinition object from an SPUser or SPPrincipal object, nor can I retrieve either object corresponding specifically to the current user of the SPWeb object. How can I update these methods to use non-deprecated code? I've found other cases of determining user permissions, but I haven't found one that will work from a starting point of the current web or the current user. It's not urgent, but it certainly is helpful to avoid having to sift through all of those warnings just to reach the more important warnings.

  I have possibly the best problem in the world. I have about £1600 left in a training budget and I need to find something to spend it on. I can spend it on anything that could be considered training. Books, courses, conferences, etc. I would like to find a course that would benifit a software developer but is not about learning a specific programming technology. I don't really want to spend it on a technical training course. These topics are usually best learned with a good book and some trial and error. I have also already been on a general business/management training course and a PRINCE2 project management course. I am currently working on a project on my own so am responsible for communicating with the client, requirements gathering, project management, etc., as well as the coding. What training have you found useful outside the usual technical stuff? Has anyone done any business analysis courses? What were they like? Are there any courses on some of the practicalities of working with software, e.g. automated test and deployment strategies, handling technical support? I would prefer a course in the UK but I can travel if necessary.

  I am attempting to have the WYSYWG view within CKEDITOR display with the same formatting as it will within the final rendered HTML. I am currently applying the correct CSS through specifying the contentsCss property when loading CKEditor. This works fine for some of the formatting, however a lot of the css formatting is applied to elements which will surround the edited HTML within the final rendered page - and so the WYSYWG view is not consistent with the final rendered view. I would like to be able to specify HTML code at runtime which will wrap the editable HTML content within the CKEditor WYSYWG view - but not have this be part of the editable code, or rendered within the HTML code. • COM: How to handle a specific exception?

  i'm talking to a COM object (Microsoft ADO Recordset object). In a certain case the recordset will return a failed (i.e. negative) HRESULT, with the message: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal i know what this error message means, know why it happened, and i how to fix it. But i know these things because i read the message, which fortunately was in a language i understand. Now i would like to handle this exception specially. The COM object threw an HRESULT of 0x800A0CC1 In an ideal world Microsoft would have documented what errors can be returned when i try to access: records.Fields.Items( index ) with an invalid index. But they do not; they most they say is that an error can occur, i.e.: If Item cannot find an object in the collection corresponding to the Index argument, an error occurs. Given that the returned error code is not documented, is it correct to handle a specific return code of `0x800A0CC1' when i'm trying to trap the exception: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal ? Since Microsoft didn't document the error code, they technically change it in the future.

• Several Small, Specific, MySQL Query Cache Questions

  I've look all over the web and in the questions asked here about MySQL caching and most of them seem very non-specific about a couple of questions that I have about performance and MySQL query caching. Specifically I want answers to these questions, assume for all questions that I have the query cache enabled and it is of type 2, or "DEMAND": Is the query cache per table, per database, or per server? Meaning if I have the cache size set to X and have T tables and D databases will I be caching TX, DX, or X amount of data? If I have table T1 which I regularly use the SQL_CACHE hint on for SELECT queries and table T2 which I never do, when I query T2 with a SELECT query will it check through the cache first before performing the query? *Note: I don't want to use the SQL_NO_CACHE for all T2 queries.* Assume the same situation as in question 2. If I alter (INSERT, DELETE) table T2 will any processing be done on the cache? For answers to 2 and 3, is this processing time negligible if T2 is constantly being altered and is the target of a majority of my SELECT queries?
