  • Require User to be Logged in to Download ZIP Files

    Is it possible to require the user be authenticated (logged in) when downloading ZIP files from my site? Note that I don't have direct control of IIS7. (I'm on a shared hosting account.) I can't simply alter the access for a particular directory because many directories are involved and most contain other files that can be accessed freely. I've Googled this a bit and found similar questions. But I've been unable to find this exact question.

  • Freebsd Secondary Group not allowing folder deletion

    TLDR: I have a user that is a member to a group as a secondary group. This user can delete files with 664 perms as a secondary user, but not directories with perms of 775. Details: I have a user. Lets call him ftpuser. I use him to upload and download files to my devbox. The user's primary group is "ftp" and is also in the group "www" as a secondary group. My web server runs as user www and group www, and I have proftpd (running as www and www) configured to drop all files into the needed directories as www and www (for file ownership) and perms 664 on files and 775 on directories. My problem is (tried with 2 ftp clients) the ftp client can delete the files, but not the folders. Filezilla returns 550 permission denied. The owner only can delete flag is not set, and I've triple checked the permissions and they are indeed 775. Its driving me nuts to have to log into my server to manually delete folders every time. Some of the folders and files are created by 1 of my php scripts, but the permissions are getting set properly when I check the files' properties. Directory and file creation works phenomenal. Can delete files, just not directories. Freebsd 9.0 Running in VirtualBox (32bit all the way around) Proftpd (running as www and www) as ftp server (tried using both dreamweaver and filezilla as the clients) Basic amp setup (apache,mysql,and php).

  • Skip new Windows 7 user selection and go to login prompt

    We've begun our migration to windows 7 and we ran into an interesting issue. When we hit "CTRL+ALT+DEL" we are brought to the "User selection Screen". Normally, this screen will have an icon for every local user for the machine. These machines are Domain members with "Fast User Switch" disabled so no user names are listed only the "Other User" option. If you click "Other User" or hit enter, the system moves on to the normal login screen where it prompts for user name and password. Here's the issue: We want to find a way to skip over the part where a user selects "Other User". We essentially want the system to always assume that we always want "Other User" and to go directly to the login screen when a user hits "CTRL+ALT+DEL". What I find odd is that the "Other User" doesn't show up until we've had more than one domain user log in. Right after we re-image the machine, the login process goes directly to the user credential prompt. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi, My company has a server with one big partition with Mysql database and php files.   • LDAP/AD Integrated Group/Membership Management Package suitable for embedding in an application

    In several web applications, it is often necessary to define groups of users for purposes of membership as well as role management. For example, in one of our applications we would like to user a group of "Network Engineers" and another group that consists of "Managers" of such Network Engineers. The information we need is contact details of members of each group. So far, we have written our own tools to allow the administrator of the application to add/delete/move groups and their memberships and either store them in a XML file or a database. Increasingly, companies already have the groups we want defined in LDAP/AD, so it would be best to create a pointer in our application to the correspoding group in LDAP. Although there are a number of LDAP libraries and LDAP browsers available and we could code this and provide a web front end to get a list of available groups and their members, we are wondering if there is already a "component framework" available that would readily provide this LDAP browsing functionality that we could just embed this into our application. Something between a library and a full LDAP browser product ? (To clarify, the use case is for an admin of our web application to create a locally relevant group name and then map it to an exiting LDAP group. To enable this in the UI, we would like to present a way for the admin to browse available groups in the company LDAP server, view their membership, and select the LDAP group they would like to map to the locally relevant group name. In a second step, we would then synchronize the members of that LDAP group and their contact details to a store in our application ) Appreciate any pointers.

  • One email user keeps disconnecting from our exchange server

    I have one user who keeps reporting that Outlook keeps disconnecting from our email server. All other users are fine. Our email server is running Exchange 2010 and the client is running Outlook 2003. The disconnection only lasts a moment. I have checked for logs on the client and Exchange server and can not see any reason for the disconnect, On the Client I get EventId 26 telling me Outlook has disconnected and reconnected but no reason why. Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to try and track down where the problem could be? --Update-- I have found the following log file C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access which suggests that it is a problem with RPC sessions.   • Rsync: Only preserve meta (time, group, etc) on files and sub-directories, not root directory

    I am copying some files (all except hidden ones) using rsync from one place to another using this command: rsync -Cav --delete --exclude=.* /Some/Directory/ other-host:/Other/Directory It works nice except that I get the following errors: rsync: chgrp "/Other/Directory/." failed: Operation not permitted (1) rsync: failed to set times on "/Other/Directory/.": Permission denied (13) That is understandable because I do in fact not have those permissions, and I also do not want to change the group of that directory. I only want to do this for all the files and directories that are in that directory. Is there any way to solve this? Tried to --exclude=. and --exclude=./, but those didn't work. Any ideas? I have no idea how to fix this... More details: This is on Mac OS X, and the directories I am syncing is from a local mounted volume to the /Users/Shared/ directory on the other host. That directory has user root and group wheel. The files inside it has user admin and group staff and so does the local source directory.

  • West Palm Beach Dev Group August 2012 Meeting Recap

    As the saying goes, it’s better late than never. Such is the case with my overdue West Palm Beach Dev Group August 2012 meeting report. Our August meeting was full of both knowledge and adventure. It comes as no surprise that the knowledge was brought to us by our favorite DotNetNuke Technical Evangelist, Will Strohl. Will introduced and thoroughly presented the new social features in DNN 6.2. Unfortunately, our meeting date coincided with Hurricane Isaac having just passed us by. Aside from road closures and floods that kept public schools closed for two days, our meeting host, PC Professor, had to close the school the day of our meeting on a short notice due to flooding which we found out about at midnight on the day of the event.  This left us scrambling to find an available alternate meeting location close enough to our original venue. Cancelling the meeting was always an option, but we opted to keep it as the very last resort. Luckily, we were fortunate to find a meeting room at the Hampton Inn only a few minutes away from our original location. Having heard of our challenge, our event sponsor, Applied Innovations, stepped-in and covered the meeting room cost in addition to the food and beverages.     How do I configure access.conf so that the following rule is applied? : Allow the user dia to connect from 192.152.100. Deny the user sim to connect from 192.152.100. Particularity : both the users dia (uid = 8389753) and sim (uid = 500) belong to the group sim (gid = 500) Yes, the user and group sim have the same name and the same id. With the follwing syntax, - : sim : 192.152.100. the user sim is denied, as well as dia (because dia belongs to the group sim). access.conf considers sim as being both the user and group. How do I specify that I want to deny the user sim, but at the same time allow the user dia ?
