  • Load function in jquery

    - by user345579
Hi, I am relatively new to jquery and would like to know why the below code wouldn't work. I am trying to access the content from a file residing on my site and not outside. Is it because I have the jquery lib loading from google and not my site? The error message that I get in IE browser is "Access Denied". I am confused why the access is denied if I am trying to load a file from the same server and even same folder. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#response").load("http://www.mydomain.com/loadme.php?route=links/getlinks&path=2"); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="response" style="border: 1px solid #000;height:500px;">&nbsp;</div> </body> </html> any one please help me. thanks

  • jquery - index of click element on the list is different on IE 7

    - by surajz
    cms is generating content in this format. <ul id="slide_nav" class="tabs"> <a name="ctn2363_2465" id="ctn2363_2465" class="hidden"></a><li id="button_1"><a class="ohlord" href="javascript: void(0);" id="b1">Bookbag</a></li> <a name="ctn2363_2466" id="ctn2363_2466" class="hidden"></a><li id="button_2"><a class="ohlord" href="javascript: void(0);" id="b2">help</a></li> <a name="ctn2363_2467" id="ctn2363_2467" class="hidden"></a><li id="button_3"><a class="ohlord" href="javascript: void(0);" id="b3">Team</a></li> <a name="ctn2363_2468" id="ctn2363_2468" class="hidden"></a><li id="button_4"><a class="ohlord" href="javascript: void(0);" id="b4">At</a></li> </ul> To get a correct index of the clicked link I have to do this in IE 7 (use class info in selector) $("#slide_nav li a").click(function(){ var index = $("#slide_nav li > a.ohlord").index(this); }); On firefox $("#slide_nav li > a").index(this); works. On IE this produces incorrect index (0, 2, 4, 6 ..). Is there a way to get the correct index in IE 7 for the above html without using class information in the selector? My second question is $('#slides img')[index].attr('style', 'display: block;'); does not work. I have to iterate through each $('#slides img') elements to set the attribute. Isn't HTMLElement object returned from $('#slides img')[index] an jquery object?

  • How to use vertical-align: middle; properly?

    - by Andrew
    I want to have my list (nav) align to the center of an image (logo). I tried using vertical-align: middle;, but I couldn't get it to work when I floated the images left and right. Here's my code: HTML: <div id="head"> <img id="logo" src="logo.png" /> <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="#">Item 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item 2</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item 3</a></li> </ul> </div> CSS: #head { margin-top: 2px; width: 100%; } #logo { float: left; } ul#nav { float: right; } ul#nav li { display: inline; list-style-type: none; } I took all the vertical-align: middle;'s from where I put them (I tested it in each element, even though it was only supposed to be applied to #logo, from what I've read.) Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

  • Should I use a class in this: Reading a XML file using lxml.

    - by PulpFiction
Hi everyone. This question is in continuation to my previous question, in which I asked about passing around an ElementTree. I need to read the XML files only and to solve this, I decided to create a global ElementTree and then parse it wherever required. My question is: Is this an acceptable practice? I heard global variables are bad. If I don't make it global, I was suggested to make a class. But do I really need to create a class? What benefits would I have from that approach. Note that I would be handling only one ElementTree instance per run, the operations are read-only. If I don't use a class, how and where do I declare that ElementTree so that it available globally? (Note that I would be importing this module) Please answer this question in the respect that I am a beginner to development, and at this stage I can't figure out whether to use a class or just go with the functional style programming approach.

  • SHGetFolderPath

    - by user530589
This code works for windows 7 but doesn't work for windows XP (outputs only part of startup folder path) #include <iostream> #include <shlobj.h> using namespace std; int main() { wchar_t startupFolder[1024]; HRESULT hr = SHGetFolderPath(0, CSIDL_STARTUP, 0, 0, startupFolder); if (SUCCEEDED(hr)) wcout << L"Startup folder = " << startupFolder << endl; else cout << "Error when getting startup folder\n"; getchar(); return 0; } output is: Startup folder = C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\ <- cursor is here. Newline is not provided. Also I have russian window xp. I think this is unicode issue. when I use wprintf I got: C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\???????? ..... Thanks. As a temporary solution: After SHGetFolderPath I call GetShortPathName then I get path in msdos style: C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\5D29~1\4A66~1\60C2~1 Not really beautiful solution, but at least that is a valid path.

  • jQuery code works in Chrome, not in IE9

    - by Francis Ducharme
Pretty new to jQuery here, I've got a chunk of code that works OK in Chrome, but fails in IE9 (have not tried FF yet). Here's the code: var textColor = $('#navmenu-body').css('color'); textColor = textColor.slice(4); In IE9, I get an error to the effect that slice can't be called because textColor is undefined. I was not sure if it's because jQuery just can't find the #navmenu-body element or that it can't find the CSS attribute color. So I did: var j = $('#navmenu-body'); var textColor = $('#navmenu-body').css('color'); textColor = textColor.slice(4); In IE9's console, j.length returns 0. So the selector is indeed, not working Here's the #navmenu-body HTML DOM <div id="navmenu-body" class="x-panel-body x-panel-body-cssmenu x-layout-fit x-panel-body-cssmenu" style="height: 398px; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 200px;"> </div> Do I need to do something else for IE9 support ?

  • Integration testing - can it be done right?

    - by Max
I used TDD as a development style on some projects in the past two years, but I always get stuck on the same point: how can I test the integration of the various parts of my program? What I am currently doing is writing a testcase per class (this is my rule of thumb: a "unit" is a class, and each class has one or more testcases). I try to resolve dependencies by using mocks and stubs and this works really well as each class can be tested independently. After some coding, all important classes are tested. I then "wire" them together using an IoC container. And here I am stuck: How to test if the wiring was successfull and the objects interact the way I want? An example: Think of a web application. There is a controller class which takes an array of ids, uses a repository to fetch the records based on these ids and then iterates over the records and writes them as a string to an outfile. To make it simple, there would be three classes: Controller, Repository, OutfileWriter. Each of them is tested in isolation. What I would do in order to test the "real" application: making the http request (either manually or automated) with some ids from the database and then look in the filesystem if the file was written. Of course this process could be automated, but still: doesn´t that duplicate the test-logic? Is this what is called an "integration test"? In a book i recently read about Unit Testing it seemed to me that integration testing was more of an anti-pattern?

  • Test a database conection without codeigniter throwing a fit, can it be done?

    - by RobertWHurst
I'm just about finished my first release of automailer, a program I've been working on for a while now. I've just got to finish writing the installer. Its job is to rewrite the codigniter configs from templates. I've got the read/write stuff working, but I'd like to be able to test the server credentials given by the user without codingiter throwing a system error if they're wrong. Is there a function other than mysql_connect that I can use to test a connection that will return true or false and won't make codeigniter have a fit? This is what I have function _test_connection(){ if(mysql_connect($_POST['host'], $_POST['username'], $_POST['password'], TRUE)) return TRUE; else return FALSE; } Codigniter doesn't like this and throws a system error. <div style="border:1px solid #990000;padding-left:20px;margin:0 0 10px 0;"> <h4>A PHP Error was encountered</h4> <p>Severity: Warning</p> <p>Message: mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Unknown MySQL server host 'x' (1)</p> <p>Filename: controllers/install.php</p> <p>Line Number: 57</p> </div> I'd rather not turn off error reporting.

  • Determining unknown content-types with the Html5 file api

    - by Jesse
I'm working through a small file upload script (learning experience) and I noticed that when selecting microsoft office related files (.doc or .docx for example) the file objects do not have a type specified: For .doc files I had expected the type to be "application/msword" and along the same train of thought .docx to be "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document". In the cases when the type cannot be determined is the correct course of action to look at the file extension and match that to the "expected" content / mime type? Sample script: <div id="fileUpload"> <input type="file" id="fileElem" style="display:none;" onchange="handleFiles(this.files)"/> <a href="#" id="fileSelect">Select some files</a> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> var fileSelect = document.getElementById("fileSelect"), fileElem = document.getElementById("fileElem"); fileSelect.addEventListener("click", function (e) { if (fileElem) { fileElem.click(); } e.preventDefault(); }, false); function handleFiles(files) { console.log(files); } </script>

  • Getting array of Values of Textboxes with the same class

My javascript is bad and my debugger don't show me javascript errors but it just doesn't works because of something wrong with each. And ... finally I just need to get array of values of dynamic textboxes and transfer them to server side ... mt [WebMethode] can't see server side :( [Web.Services.WebMethod] public static SelectBook(id : array) : string { id } And sure I have no idea how can I use jQuery .live and binding here.

  • Share variable across site ASP.NET

  • Overriding CSS properties for iframe width

    - by user2898989
I'm trying to put an iframe into a webpage, but no matter what I try to put in either the iframe properties or the custom CSS section of the website builder (or how many times I try to add !important to anything from width to right-margin), I can't get the iframe to extend rightward further than the page's preset width. Here's an example of the page and iframe that I'm working with: http://fmlcapitalinvestment.com/Search_Properties.html I need that script/iframe to be wide enough to show the search area. It seems pointless to copy and paste code and attributes I've tried setting, because nothing I do seems to have any effect, but just for showing how much I have no idea what I'm doing, here's my iframe code: <iframe id="idxFrame" style="padding:0; margin:0; padding-top: 0px; overflow-x:auto; width:1000px!important; border:0px solid transparent; background-color:transparent; max-width:none!important; right-margin:-200px!important" frameborder="0" scrolling="on" src="http://www.themls.com/IDXNET/Default.aspx?wid=8MSsp7Pf9eI55yjkDuB%2blX5awn7LnnVXh5PNYhq2ImAEQL" width="1200px" height="900px"></iframe> The "Website Builder" that I'm forced to use to make these kinds of pages is infuriating, but it does have a "Custom CSS" area where I can input additional CSS information. Is there something I could generically use to set iframes to their own widths?

  • Properties in User-Control Ctor are duplicated to the hosting form

    - by fortis
An annoying behavior of Visual Studio (2008)'s designer is to duplicate any property of a control, which is set inside the control's constructor code to the InitializeComponent() method of the hosting form. For example, if I create a new user control and write the following line in its Ctor: this.Text = "Hard Coded Name"; then this same line will appear inside the InitializeComponent() method of any form hosting this control. As long as it's about this kind of properties, it's only annoying because if I were to change the Text property inside the control to: "Better Hard Coded Name", I'd have to go over all hosting controls and manually change the Text value over there too. The real problem is with ".Add(something)" properties - like if my control is a TableLayoutPanel and I want it to have a certain number of columns and rows. Any col or row style set inside the user control will be duplicated in the hosting form and we end up with having twice as wanted. The count (e.g. ColumnCount) will be as planned but if I were to add cols later on, things will get messy. Is there a way to signal VS's designer not to duplicate properties? What can I do to avoid this behavior?

  • [Zend Framework] Forms and success output

    - by rasouza
Well, It's a beginer's question but I really don't know what is the best way. I have a basic CRUD (Create, Retrieve, Update and Delete) in my project and I'd like to output some message if succeded or not in a div inside the same page. So, basically, I have a form which action is setted to the same page and I have a div #statusDiv below this same form which I'd like to output something like Register included with success. What is the best way for doing this? Set a flag in the controller $this->view->flagStatus = 'message' then call it in the view? Just to make it more clear. It's my code: //IndexController.php indexAction() ... //Check if there's submitted data if ($this->getRequest()->isPost()) { ... $registries->insert($data); $this->view->flagStatus = 'message'; $this->_redirect('/'); } Then my view: .... <?php if ($this->flagStatus) { ?> <div id="divStatus" class="success span-5" style="display: none;"> <?php echo $this->flagStatus; ?> </div> <?php } ?> ....

  • Need help making a div appear on the bottom of the screen while the rest of the divs scroll

    - by user1896600
It's hard to describe my specific problem without just showing you the HTML code. The HTML source can be seen easily from clicking "View Source" while seeing the page http://techdot.us/projects/jeopardy/view.php. The CSS is located here: http://techdot.us/projects/jeopardy/style/gameStyle.css. My main goal is to have the main content table rows/columns appear on the majority of the screen (everything except 69px, to be exact). So, the bottom 69px contains an informational panel that is supposed to stay on the bottom of the screen, even when the user scrolls down the page. Scrolling is supposed to, in theory, trigger the majority of the content to go down the page normally, except the bottom bar which stays static. I have achieved this effect on the website. However, there is a big problem. On smaller screens (as you can simulate by resizing the window), some of the main table gets cut off. It seems that my CSS solution is a botch, and, in effect, does not accomplish my main goal. The bottom bar should not cut off part of the table from the main content div (gameTable), but the main content div should display all of its content in a scrollable fashion. My CSS at the moment works as long as the viewer's screen is a certain pixel height. This is definitely not permanent. Thank you SO much for the help. I really appreciate it and totally understand that I'm being a total pain by just throwing down tons of CSS and HTML code to edit.

  • Mystery: How does Google do cross-domain iframe communication?

    - by Shraga
Hi everyone, When you host Googles web search element on a page, a div is created which incorporates an iframe which points to a Google adsense ads page. However, if there are no ads for the specific query, Google somehow changes the class on YOUR domain to render the div (and iframe) invisible. They are NOT using postMessage, as it also works in IE7. They are also not using the fragment identifier method, as no hash appears in the url. So how do they do it? To check what I'm saying just put the following into a regular html page: <!-- Google Custom Search Element --> <div id="cse" style="width:100%;">Loading</div> <script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('search', '1'); google.setOnLoadCallback(function(){ new google.search.CustomSearchControl().draw('cse'); }, true); </script> and then do a search for "cars" (or anything else that will definitely have ads) and then for "wzxv", which has no ads...

I have a html table in each row i have a button called edit allowing user to relod the form with parameter that he has selected. for this i define a hidden type to get the id of the record in database to access to various colonne and to refresh the form with those parameters. • Smarty/PHP loop not being passed to IE(Pc) or Chrome/FF(Mac)

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Hi, I've been working on a site that has a lot of PHP/Smarty involved, I've been asked to re-skin a webstore checkout process, but during this we've discovered this issue. This particular quirk is one part of a tax calculation that doesn't get sent to the browser in IE for PC and Chrome/FF for the Mac. It's NOT in the output source in the browsers, but is in FF, Chrome and Opera on the PC. Here is the code that doesn't "work:" {foreach $cart.taxes.$currency as $tax} <div id="subTotalCaption2"><p style="width:100px;">{$tax.name_lang}:</p></div> <div id="taxAmount2"><p>{$tax.formattedAmount}</p></div> {/foreach} It's not a CSS issue as if you go all the way through the checkout process and then back to the order page (Not using the back button, using the on-site links) it works. There is another calculation on the last page of the process that does the same thing: {foreach from=$order.taxes.$currency item="tax"} <tr> <td colspan="{$colspan}" class="tax">{$tax.name_lang}:</td> <td>{$tax.formattedAmount}</td> </tr> {/foreach} I guess my question is what could cause this to not be read (Parsed?) in IE and the mac but other browsers do it fine on the PC. Thanks.

  • Retrieving an element by array index in jQuery vs the each() function.

I was writing a "pluginable" function when I noticed the following behavior (tested in FF 3.5.9 with Firebug 1.5.3). $.fn.computerMove = function () { var board = $(this); var emptySquares = board.find('div.clickable'); var randPosition = Math.floor(Math.random() * emptySquares.length); emptySquares.each(function (index) { if (index === randPosition) { // logs a jQuery object console.log($(this)); } }); target = emptySquares[randPosition]; // logs a non-jQuery object console.log(target); // throws error: attr() not a function for target board.placeMark({'position' : target.attr('id')}); } I noticed the problem when the script threw an error at target.attr('id') (attr not a function). When I checked the log, I noticed that the output (in Firebug) for target was: <div style="width: 97px; height: 97px;" class="square clickable" id="8"></div> If I output $(target), or $(this) from the each() function, I get a nice jQuery object: [ div#8.square ] Now here comes my question: why does this happen, considering that find() seems to return an array of jQuery objects? Why do I have to do $() to target all over again? [div#0.square, div#1.square, div#2.square, div#3.square, div#4.square, div#5.square, div#6.square, div#7.square, div#8.square] Just a curiosity :).
