• LotusNotes as a datasource for a .net C# site

  Is it possible to have a connection to LotusNotes and use it as a data source for a C# project? We use LN for email/calendar :(... and management wants a web page that would interact with the calendar. I think this can all be done within Notes, but I would much rather do it in .net.   Hi, I have purchased AMD Phenom X4 955 3.2GHZ processor with supporting gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H mother board / 6GB DDR2 RAM / 500GB SATA drive for learning Vmware ESX 3.5 product. In the above configuration, I have installed windows xp 64 bit operating systems and continue to installed vmware workstation 6.5. From the VM workstation, I can able to install ESX3.5 update2, but I unable to start properly, please refer the below mention error. “Mounting root failed. Dropping into basic maintenance shell. To collect logs for VMware, connect a USB storage device and run 'bin/vm-support '. Machine will be rebooted when you exit from this shell.” The same was tested in the windows 2003 Enterprise Edition server / windows 7 32bit / windows 7 64bit also, Please help me to resolve the issue.

• SQL 2008 Memory Usage

  I have a SQL Server 2008 (ver 10.0.1600) running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server with 8 GB of physical ram. If I open Task Manager I can see on 'Physical Memory' section of 'Performance' tab that only 340 MB are Available of 8191 Total, but I can't see any process using such amount of memory. Please note SQL Server is memory limited to 6GB (Maximum Server Memory = 6000). If I open Sysinternals Process Explorer, I can see sqlsrvr.exe process has: Private Bytes: 227.000 K Working Set: 140.000 K Virtual Size: 8.762.000 K What does this means? Is there any way to free up this memory for other process? Why Virtual Size figure as allocated memory? I thought that Virtual Size was 'reserved memory' only.

• How to pin NetBeans to Windows 7 taskbar?

  I've googled around and it seems that I'm not the only one with the problem, however I couldn't find the solution. Maybe someone around here has figured it out. The problem is that netbeans.exe is actually a stub which is calling javaw.exe. When I try to pin the NetBeans process to the taskbar I actually pin "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary". That changes the icon and the pin doesn't work. The funny thing is that it works on another machine. I don't know whether it's because it's a different version of NetBeans, or a different version of Java. Has anyone figured this out? Added: I know this is sort of not programming related; on the other hand there are plenty of topics around here about how to better your programming environment, and this one is no worse than those. Oh, and btw - Windows 7 Enterprise x64; Java JDK 1.6.17; Netbeans 6.8

What are the tools and techniques used when making a backup. for e.g when a backup fails on a machine, it should email the admin about the failure and also a log file. This won't happen incase the HDD fails and the system is completely out of work, but in other cases where a backup didn't take place, the admin should be able to know. The idea is to allow a professor to still project and display content while walking around the room with their tablet. To date, haven’t been able to find a solution that meets the requirements, has anyone stumbled across one yet? • SQL 2008 R2 3rd Party Peer-to-Peer Replication, Global Site Distribution

  We are looking at hosting 3 globally distributed SQL Server installations at different data centers. The intent is that Site A will serve web traffic and data for a specific region, same with Site B and C. In the case that Site A data center goes down, looses connectivity, etc. the users of Site A users will fail over to Site B or C (depending which is up). Also, if a user from Site A travels to Site C they should be able to access their data as it was on Site A. My questions is what SQL replication technology (SQL Replication or 3rd party) can support this scenario? We are using SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise at each site, each site runs on top of VMWare with a Netapp filer. Would something like distributed caching help in this scenario as well? We have looked at and tested Peer-to-Peer replication but have encountered issues with conflicts during our testing. I imagine there are other global data centers that have encountered and solved this issue.

• Archive Outlook mail items into SQL Server

  I am looking (and so far not finding any) for a solution to archive e-mail items from my Outlook into SQL Server. My PST is beginning to get really really big, and I'd love to extract my older e-mail into SQL Server in a way so I can still easily find mails if needed. I would prefer SQL Server as the storage medium since I'm familiar with it, and it's rock solid - I don't want to have a collection of PST files or CHM files or anything like that. Does anyone know of such a solution? I'm a power/home user - I can't afford $5'000 enterprise licenses - I need a sub-$100 solution for private use.

• Not able to access other machines on network

  Hi I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise (32bit) on my laptop. For some time I'm not able to access other machines using \\192.168.xxx.xxx. I've installed VM Ware player on my machine few days back but I don't remember if it happened just after that or there is some other reason behind it. EDIT:- I've disabled VMWare Bridge Protocol but still no effect. Please help me. PS:- I've used both wireless and wired networks. Network sharing is enabled and I can ping other machines but cannot access network shares. I get following message: \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have acess permissions. The request is not supported. EDIT (2):- Network Discovery, File and Printer Sharing, Folder sharing are all on.

  Hi all, I have a problem with configure raid on red hat enterprise linux. The problem is when I create raid on two hard disks. It works successfully but after I remove one hard disk. It works normally. It means that I plug in one hard disk for testing configure raid. But after that I put both hard disks and create other file. The raid is cleared. My question is: Why do I turn off server machine, it clears raid that I configure first time before I turn off? Could anyone help to solve this problem? Thank, Ung Sopolin

  We have a user who has an iPad that is synching to our Exchange 2007 SP1 Server. She is reporting that her contacts are being "eaten", which we take to mean are being slowly deleted over time. This user also has a BlackBerry that is synching through a Blackberry Enterprise Server.   I have HyperV on Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 installed with some Virtual Server running that I wanted to have ISA or NTOP to monitor traffic. I've added additional physical NIC to server and wanted to use this NIC as traffic monitor (I've enabled port mirroring on switch). I can see on physical machine that runs HyperV a lot of traffic coming to the NIC so port mirroring works fine. However in virtual machine even thou I've assigned that NIC to only this one and only server it sees 0 packets. In VWMare Workstation it worked without problem and I could see mirrored traffic on VM. Should this be possible or HyperV is crippled?

• Recommendation for a non-standard SSL port

  Hey guys, On our server I have a single IP, and need to host 2 different SSL sites. Sites have different owners so have different SSL certificates, and can't share the same certificate with SAN. So as a last resort I have modified the web application to give the ability to use a specified port for secure pages. For its simple look I used port 200. However I'm worried about some visitors may be unable to see the site because of their firewalls / proxies blocking the port for ssl connections. I heard some people were unable to see the website, a home user and someone from an enterprise company, don't know if this was the reason. So, any recommendations for a non-standard SSL port number (443 is used by the other site) which may work for visitors better than port 200 ? Like 8080 or 8443 perhaps? Thanks!
