• Simple GET operation with JSON data in ADF Mobile

  Usecase: This sample uses a RESTful service which contains a GET method that fetches employee details for an employee with given employee ID along with other methods. The data is fetched in JSON format. This RESTful service is then invoked via ADF Mobile and the JSON data thus obtained is parsed and rendered in mobile in a table. Prerequisite: Download JDev build JDEVADF_11.1.2.4.0_GENERIC_130421.1600.6436.1 or higher with mobile support.  Steps: Run EmployeeService.java in JSONService.zip. This is a simple service with a method, getEmpById(id) that takes employee ID as parameter and produces employee details in JSON format. Copy the target URL generated on running this service. The target URL will be as shown below: http://127.0.0.1:7101/JSONService-Project1-context-root/jersey/project1 Now, let us invoke this service in our mobile application. For this, create an ADF Mobile application.  Name the application JSON_SearchByEmpID and finish the wizard. Now, let us create a connection to our service. To do this, we create a URL Connection. Invoke new gallery wizard on ApplicationController project.  Select URL Connection option. In the Create URL Connection window, enter connection name as ‘conn’. For URL endpoint, supply the URL you copied earlier on running the service. Remember to use your system IP instead of localhost. Test the connection and click OK. At this point, a connection to the REST service has been created. Since JSON data is not supported directly in WSDC wizard, we need to invoke the operation through Java code using RestServiceAdapter. For this, in the ApplicationController project, create a Java class called ‘EmployeeDC’. We will be creating DC from this class. At line 4, we are pointing to the connection ‘conn’ created previously. Since we want to invoke getEmpById method of the service, which is defined by the URL http://IP:7101/REST_Sanity_JSON-Project1-context-root/resources/project1/getById/{id} we are updating the request URI to point to this URI at line 9. inputEmpID is a variable that will hold the value input by the user for employee ID. This we will be creating in a while. As the method we are invoking is a GET operation and consumes json data, these properties are being set in lines 5 through 7. Finally, we are sending the request in line 13. In line 15, we use jsonHelper.fromJSON to convert received JSON data to a Java object. The required Java objects' structure is defined in class Employee.java whose structure is provided later. Since the response from our service is a simple response consisting of attributes like employee Id, name, design etc, we will just return this parsed response (line 16) and use it to create DC. As mentioned previously, we would like the user to input the employee ID for which he/she wants to perform search. So, in the same class, define a variable inputEmpID which will hold the value input by the user. Generate accessors for this variable. Lastly, we need to create Employee class. Employee class will define how we want to structure the JSON object received from the service. To design the Employee class, run the services’ method in the browser or via analyzer using path parameter as 1. This will give you the output JSON structure. Ours is a simple service that returns a JSONObject with a set of data. Hence, Employee class will just contain this set of data defined with the proper data types. Now, you can design the mobile page as usual and invoke the operation of the service. To design the page, go to ViewController project and locate adfmf-feature.xml. Create a new feature called ‘SearchFeature’ by clicking the plus icon. Go the content tab and add an amx page. Call it SearchPage.amx. Call it SearchPage.amx. Remove primary and secondary buttons as we don’t need them and rename the header. Drag and drop inputEmpID from the DC palette onto Panel Page in the structure pane as input text with label. Next, drop fetchEmpDetails method as an ADF button. For a change, let us display the output in a table component instead of the usual form. However, you will notice that if you drag and drop Employee onto the structure pane, there is no option for ADF Mobile Table. Hence, we will need to create the table on our own. To do this, let us first drop Employee as an ADF Read -Only form. This step is needed to get the required bindings. We will be deleting this form in a while. Now, from the Component palette, search for ‘Table Layout’. Drag and drop this below the command button.  Within the tablelayout, insert ‘Row Layout’ and ‘Cell Format’ components. Final table structure should be as shown below. For this we associate a value change listener with the input text box. Click New in the resulting dialog to create a managed bean. Next, we create a method within the managed bean. For this, click on the New button associated with method. Call the method ‘empIDChange’. • Server 2008 Task Scheduler Mapped Drive Access C#

  I'm trying do get Server 2008's Task Scheduler to run a C# console app which backs up data to a mapped backup drive somewhere on FastHosts network. I've written a test app which simply does this Directory.CreateDirectory("Z:\" + DateTime.Now.Ticks.ToString()); i.e. just creates a directory on the root of this Z drive. This works fine when I just run the .exe but when I schedule it in Task Scheduler it says the task has completed with return code 3762507597 - I can't find any info on what this means. I'm running the task with the highest Admin privelages as far as I can see.

  I've already got my subversion repository set up to require comments of a minimum length to accept a commit. However, I'd like to start tagging those comments with information from our bug tracking system when committed. I've already got the scripts set up to pull data from the bug tracker and just need a way to get that info into the subversion commit comments. How can append to the existing comment in subversion automatically? For reference, the subversion repository is hosted on a linux server with Ubuntu 9 something installed and I have complete root access to the machine.

Sometimes we get the following TeamCity error when the build runs. Doing a couple of force builds gets TeamCity running succesfully.   I've been struggling to deploy Django application on Amazon EC2 using Bitnami Djangostack for the last couple of days. When I go to http://dewey.io I see the default bitnami page (/opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/index.html), however, when I open http://dewey.io/portnoy, I get 'Internal Server Error'. But it's known that if mod_wsgi is setup correctly, the DocumentRoot value from httpd.conf is ignored, thus, I should see my Django application when accessing http://dewey.io. Essentially, the main error is this - 'Target WSGI script cannot be loaded as Python module'. Two questions: 1) any ideas how to fix these mod_wsgi errors (the Apache logs are below)? 2) how to disable the default /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/index.html page and show my homepage from django application when accessing http://dewey.io? I want to be able to both serialize and deserialize the XML between XML and C# objects, however, using the objects generated by xsd.exe, the C# serialization includes the xmlns:xsi..., xsi:... etc XML attributes on the root element of the document that gets generated. • How to set ActiveModel::Base.include_root_in_json to false?

  I'm using Rails 3 w/ Mongoid, (so no ActiveRecord). Mongoid uses ActiveModel's "to_json" method, and by default that method includes the root object in the JSON (which I don't want). I've tried putting this in an initializer: ActiveModel::Base.include_root_in_json = false But get the error uninitialized constant ActiveModel::Base Any ideas how I can change this? I changed the default directly in the source-code and it worked fine, but obviously I'd like to do it properly.   I have an application with numerous WCF services that make use of LINQ-To-SQL as the data access model. I am having lots of problems with the "DataContext accessed after Dispose" exception. I understand what this exception is and that it is occurring because I have not "initialised" the data that is trying to be accessed. I've read many articles that suggest that I called ToList() on any arrays before the parent object is returned by the service. My issue is that I am getting this exception and I don't know where it is originating from and therefore I don't know what hasn't been initialised. Can anyone advise how best to identify the root cause? (I have used the MS Service Trace Viewer and this doesn't seem to give me any further information)

  I've have a workflow whose root activity is a custom NativeActivity with a public InArgument called XmlData. When I try and use this argument in a child If activity I get the following error using XmlData within the condition: 'XmlData' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level I'm adding the argument inside CacheMetadata using the metadata.AddArgument method, and I've tried adding the child property it has using both AddChild and AddImplementationChild. If I replace my custom activity with an ActivityBuilder and use code to create a DynamicActivityProperty then the condition can be compiled successfully, so I don't see what I'm missing when I use my own code.

• Custom app_offline.htm file during publish

  When I publish my ASP.NET MVC application it generates a app_offline.htm file to take the site offline while it updates the website and then deletes the file once the publish is successful. This is cool and I really like the idea, but I want to create my own custom app_offline.htm file that the publish action is aware of and put it somewhere where it doesn't effect my development site - i.e. it doesn't sit in the root of my development site rendering it offline all the time. • Task Scheduler permissions error for some jobs

  I have recently moved to a 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2. I setup my Scheduled Tasks to run under one user (TaskUser) specifically created for the scheduler and most run just fine. However some of them do not run under TaskUser but will for my own credentials. Here is the Event Log entry I found, which from my research points me to believe that it doesn't have permissions, but it does. It also has the option "Run with highest privileges" checked on. I have seen this particular checkbox work wonders on some tasks, but I have a number of them that it's not helping for. • Using Twain Dot Net in XBAP (Deployed via ASP.NET)

  First Version: Is there a way to use Twain Dot Net in a XBAP (WPF in browser)? Second Version: I have a setup exe (installation) that puts TwainDotNet.dll and TwainDotNet.Wpf.dll on client machine and registers them in GAC (using gacutil.exe). I have also a XBAP page on my server (IIS). (The XBAP part of the project works fine locally and I am using those 2 twin libraries registered in GAC locally too. And on client machine I have registered my generated certification in Trusted Root and Publishers. I have tested my XBAP without Twin libs on the client machine(s) and it works fine; test XBAP edits a text file on client machine hard). Now; when I browse my XBAP on a client, I get : "Error getting information about the default source: Failure"; which I think happens in GetDefault of DataSource class. Is there any work around? • GWT layout panels vs. CSS layout

  I read an article entitled "Tags First GWT", in which the writer suggests using GWT for event-handling, and CSS for layout. I just don't know whether the benefit of GWT's cross-browser compatibility goodness outweighs the flexibility offered by pure CSS layout. GWT GWT 2.0 has some snazzy layout panels, but to get them to resize properly you really need to build the entire panel containment tree from the root panel down. It's an all-or-nothing thing, it seems. CSS You can use CSS to layout an application too, and I'm inclined to do just that, if only to justify my purchase of several books touting the 'semantic markup' gospel. The downside might be cross-browser incompatibilities, the prevalence of which I have yet to determine. Which way to go? What is your opinion? Are cross-browser problems bad enough, and prevalent enough, to warrant ditching my CSS books, and building with GWT layout panels?

  Hi, I have compiled the android 2.1 source code and I can start the emulator. But I can't launch calendar application. Every time I tried to lauch the calendar application, it crashed. • Cannot Start Nginx Compiled from Source

  I am trying to compile Nginx from source based on the original compiled Nginx server running on my DigitalOcean server ( Ubuntu-14.04 64x ) but with a few extra modules. I can get everything installed smoothly but I can not get it to start. I am sure the ini is correct because I copied the original source off the current running Nginx server [ Even though I see that Nginx now adds the ini when compiling fron source ]. And now to start the server: service nginx start And this is where s#!+ hits the fan - Nada. I check to see if Nginx is running with service --status-all and its not. Also with nginx -V and its not installed??? I reboot the system too and still nothing. So I am not sure what is wrong here. The ini was copied over from the old server along with all the other config files after deleting the old files. When I opened the new compiled files, the nginx default data was present so I replaced them with my old original data prior to starting the new server for the first time. Also to be safe, I rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default and symlinked with ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with no errors and I verified that the data was in the sites-enabled/default file. I don't think the server really/fully installed because of the nginx -V result: The program 'nginx' can be found in the following packages: * nginx-core * nginx-extras * nginx-full * nginx-light * nginx-naxsi Try: apt-get install <selected package> Do/should I apt-get install nginx-1.7.4 ?? Or what package do I use being that its a custom package and make install earlier did nothing?? If you need to see the conf files I copied over from the old to the custom server, LMK and I'll post them. Again your help here would be appreciated!

• How do I get a .Net 4.0 app to coexist as an application under a SharePoint 2007 website in IIS v7?

  I have created a small .Net 4.0 website and installed it on my SharePoint server as a separate web site in IIS v7 (using port 8008 for now). I had to install the .Net 4 framework, set up the database, etc. and this all went smoothly and my app works as a standalone website. Now I am trying to get pages from my website to show up in SharePoint 2007. For various reasons (the SharePoint site is using SSL, security, etc.) I now need to move my .Net app to run under the SharePoint 2007 site in IIS. I have added it as an 'Application' and set it up with the same .Net v4 application pool and settings that were working when it was set up as a standalone site. Now when I try to access the application I get the error at the end of this description. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already tried following the instructions on this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/sgoodyear/archive/2007/05/07/custom-web-applications-coexisting-with-sharepoint-2007.aspx but that did not help. Thanks!
